Is there a way to choose custom folders in Sense Gallery or Android stock Gallery or Photos (Android 2.1) instead of having it show ALL the photos and videos?
I have an archive folder which has thousands of pictures and I don't want it showing up every time because it takes a while to load.
Or is there an apk that'll do this?
+1 I'm not a fan of this either... You can hide certain ones if you press menu but nothing specific.
Can't believe some of the brainiacs over here haven't figured this out yet..
create a ".nomedia" file in the folder

It's been discussed here before too
Gallery Enabler should do the trick. I haven't tried it on 2.2 yet but it works great on 2.1.

Gallery Enabler does the .nomedia trick, only from your phone so you can enable/disable folders whenever you like.

I know about the .foldername trick.. I don't like it though because a file or folder with . (period) in the beginning will not show up on my mac of pc either.. (on PC I could say view hidden files.. which again, I don't like..on Mac I'd have to install Houdini or something)..
Also It's a hassle when I WANT it to show.. in which case I'd have to rename the folder. I'd rather using a normal file name and not have it show

Anyone else tired of the Sub-par quality in the backgrounds you get when resizing them for TF3D....I Have converted and re sized some wallpapers while maintaining a good quality Background, I was happy with the results and figured i would share them with the community....
Any comments or replies, even requests would be appreciated
included are the raw files the converted file and the manila file, so no need to edit using manila editor. Just copy your favorite to the Windows directory

you can download the .zip attached and all files are included there....if you saved them directly off the post you need to use manila editor to edit your current background
Have you already did the background4All mod?
great work
I gonne use them and love to see more manila backgrounds.
if you need more wallpapers you can use mine.

If you had done some search you would have find this one.
Maybe it helps.
Hiding files
If not, do your own search please.

Ok, then I'm sorry. But there are too much people that don't know how to use Google.. Maybe a tutorial would help.
Anyway, but as far as I read, you have tried to use the app nomedia and I think you have also tried to hide those folders with a "." in the beginning?
Maybe this?
Can't put a "." in front of a folder name and yes i've tried the app...
it hides all the mp3 files from the whole phone meaning the alarm and such.

I meant only a dot, not with those "
I know that I'm not stupid I've been using computers since 8th grade.
The files are also in /system folder and the Sd card
My theory is that if I delete them off the sd then they would be gone from system folder
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
Use Mixzing music player. You can specify what folder on the sd card the music is stored in. No need to hide anything. Oh, and it's freeeee!!!!
Thanks! XD
Is ther a way to create folders to put apps inside the folders like the folders you can make on android phones?

not with the default Honeycomb launcher, no.
Install SiMi Folder from the Market, it's free. It lets you create folders then add apps to the folders you create accordingly.

Astro File Manager allows you to create folder
Astro allows you to create folders within the /root and other storage areas like the SD. I believe koozer and others (myself among them) are trying to add folders to the home screens.
Chlballi
File Manager HD also can create folder
I've been using the free version of folder organizer. Seem's to work fairly well. Haven't found anything better.
Folder on Iconia
That's correct - I am looking for the best and easiest way to create folders on the iconia screens to help me organize my apps better. Like how you can create folders on an android smartphone.
Any other app recommendations that can do this on the iconia are appreciated.
The Best Buy said that he thought honeycomb 3.1 would allow the creatiion of folders? Can anyone who knows more about 3.1 confirm this?
adwlauncher.ex has something similar now.
Whenever I download a file on my Nexus 7 i.e, pdf ppt pptx doc docx xls xlsx txt and others for which I have applications that are capable of opening; the download manager simply says it Can't open file. I've factory reset my device nly to be back on the same issue. This annoys me to no end. Everytime I download a pdf I have to use a file manager to open it.

My files do open from Downloads using Docs-to-Go for the file types you listed. What suite are you using to open these files otherwise? Even though you have done an fdr, try clearing cache and data for Downloads and your apps for the file types. Perhaps an incorrect app got associated with your files.
were you able to fix this?

Did you manage to fix this?
use a third party browser like dolphin works like magic
celebrating 269 thanks!
My biggest Thank You goes to XDA and all its members! Thanks guys!
I fixed it by resetting Chrome. I believe the downloads get messed up by the 'reduce data usage' setting.
Hi,
Samsung uodated a bunch of apps but I can't install a single one to my Note 4.
Any ideas how to test those updated apps?

you need to has root access for this and you should replace it with your system apps under root: system/app or priv-app folder
So I just need to download apk, put it to system/app folder and rename apk to match the original apk file? That's it?

Download apk
Put in system/priv-app
Set permissions (rw-r-r)
Use titanium backup and backup and freeze old apk.
Reboot
Thats it
I did as you wrote. Every step.
But new app didn't appear in the app drawing.
use lucky patcher to install as system app

Thanks! It worked. I messed up the permissions
And now I will try to update all Samsung apps. Email app is my priority.
Email app working well. But I had no luck with others (gallery, video editors etc.).
Anyway.. Refreshed look of the email app is more than enough
