New Evo Commercial

I think they should have aired this commercial long time ago, but heck yea, love the green guy!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KusxPkP5WE
I agree with you the first sneak peak video seemed kinda weak.
I have to say I'm not a fan of either. The second one is definitely better than the first though. I just feel they could it advertise it in a more exciting way, both commercials are boring for me.
The phone has to still be selling well for them to be advertising it this much still considering its been out since June. I wonder will we ever see any sales numbers on it.
I was just in a Sprint store and they said a lot of stores still have Evos on backorder.

You can do all that with a Motorola Xoom, which seems to be a better tablet than the iPad 2. Especially since it's Android based. But, still, enjoy your iPad 2, at least until eleven months later when the iPad 3 comes out.
And much less censorship and lock down than apple
uhmmmm $499 wifi version ipad2 on march 11 or a rumored $800+ wifi version xoom releasing in april?
Yes but its cheaper and I believe its faster I understand its not Android trust me guys, its Android till I die but you got to admit they made a good tablet here

First off, the word RUMORED is pretty important in this sentence. Second, the Wifi Xoom isn't going to be the $800 one.
Exactly there both excellent no flame here but I also do not like Motorola...just as much as Apple

I owned an iPad. In fact it was my first Apple device. Apple can't be beat on build, fit and finish. The iOs while limited compared to Android for the most part just works. That being said once I got my EVO I found that I used my evo for mostly everything and sold the ipad a month after getting the Evo.
I think apple made some great moves hardware wise with the iPad2, but lack of flash kills it for me, not to mention the way my google accounts integrate with Android vs iOS. Today's announcement makes me happy cuz I believe it'll kick some Android tablet manufacturers in the rear end to rethink their tablet pricing.
Yeahbro looks pretty good

Well, just make sure you give Apple your $40 for the special dongle if you want HDMI out to your TV. Also, you should really have put this in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740086 since it's not really Evo related.
Plus, considering the Xoom is really the first hardcore Android tablet to come out, the prices will drop when more competition comes out.
Hopefully lol I want HTC to make one but here's my thing,I always thought the first iPad was a flop and I never understood why it sold, idk I felt it had poor hardware for the time being

I'm probably going to get one as well. I'm haven't been a fan of the Macs because I feel they are overpriced or the iPhone because it was exclusive to a carrier that is horrible in my area but they make a damn good tablet. Also I can't think of another tech company that retains more value on a product than Apple. Buy the iPad 2 now and by the time the iPad 3 rolls out you can still get nearly 80-85% back if you want to sell it.
They took a crap all over the android and rim tablets with that presentation lol... and motorola was fooling themselves to think they were going to be any competition to Apple whatsoever with where they priced the xoom. And correct me if im wrong, but isnt the xoom shipping without flash too? And honestly, the latest update of skyfire for IOS plays damn near everything that android does. I have it on my iTouch and it works very well.

To Xoom or not to Xoom

Hi guys my wife just got me a Wifi Xoom from Costco for my birthday. I want to see how everybody feels about their Xoom and if I should return it and wait for a newer tablet. I already have a rooted Evo 4g so I don't need the 3g version of the Xoom.
I'd great appreciate some feedback.
Thanks

Can I ask how much you paid for it? I was in Costco MK yesterday and I didn't see any in there so I got mine from PC World instead.

I've had my Xoom for a little over a week and think it's the best thing I've ever owned. My iPad doesn't even compare and ended up giving it to my kids. Love the form factor, great screen and Honeycomb rocks. I highly recommend keeping it if you like Android.
On the other hand, the iPad is much more "dummy proof" and much better for someone not very technical.

I think the question is, what are you planning to use the tablet for? The Xoom still has some features that are a little better than some tablets, and is also missing features compared to some others. Also if cost is a concern, you are almost guaranteed to be better off in 3-6 months since the newer series will be out by then and you'll see discounted clearance prices.
SO, tell us what you think you're going to do, and how comfortable you are in waiting, and I think we can better answer your question.

If you don't like the question dude then don't read it. The subject made it pretty obvious what the question was.
Back to the question: I've had the Xoom since Feb 24 and like it a lot. I use it primarily for web browsing, news reading (RSS), email and FB, and the occasional game. I had an iPad for 8 months and was sick of the iOS limitations so happily gave it up.
The only thing I don't like about the Xoom is the rear facing speakers. When watching a video on the web or doing a video chat, to hear the sound good I either have to really crank the volume up, or cup the speakers to get the sound to come forward.
Thanks for the feedback. I've been playing with it all morning. I'm still trying figure out the best way to type on it though. Browsing isn't as smooth as I would like and it is a little heavier than I would like. My kindle spoiled me there. Everything else seems work pretty well. Email, tapatalk, google reader work well on the tablet.
Still trying to find useful 'tablet' apps though.

Right now its not a great deal having a xoom. For me its been kind of a dissapointment the apps support. Not even google have updated theyre own apps! they work but are not for tablet and low awful. The apps from big company names like facebook, twitter, etc havent even bother to upgrade to honeycomb. Maybe in 5 month we will find more than 20 apps for tablet (if you are from other country other than us. you cant install many honeycomb apps), but by that time xoom will be obsolete and there will be xoom 2 or whatever

You do realize that the Honeycomb/tablet interface 3.0 is a mere 9 weeks old? Apple's IOS for tablets had already been out for roughly 55 weeks and had the the advantage of using existing iphone apps from June of 2007?
I believe Android didn't come around until November of 2009.
It took Apple quite some time to deliver apps and polish the software to where it is today.
It does take time and I would think Google is prepared to put up a hell of a fight.
interesting discussion guys, I am about to decide whether to buy xoom or ipad 32GB wifi.
Simple user, prefer a stable and trouble free tablet for daily use. Occasional movie, email, light gaming and some ebook reading. Wont be experimenting much. Almost decided on xoom, any last moment advise?
I love my Xoom. My only concern is the lack of apps. I think 6 months from now it won't be an issue.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
The XOOM is waiting for one or more important software updates. The XOOM was the first HC tablet and has been out the longest. I have also yet to see these other tablets advertised (as) much. Which one will get the most app / accessory support? My bet is on the XOOM regardless of which tablet ends up being technically superior later in the year. When things don't end up working as well other tablets (even though they perhaps should) as the XOOM, I'll be mostly unaffected.
The LG G-Slate has a smaller screen and lacks a SD Card Slot. The newer Samsung Galaxy Tab lacks a built-in HDMI port. The HTC Flyer may have their Sense UI Skin on it, I personally dislike manufacturer skins. The ASUS Transformer's build quality is not as good IMO but it can be had cheaper and supports mouse usage with optional dock. The Toshiba Tablet will have a full SD Card size card slot. Rea search the differences, decide what is important to you.

This its not an iphone

You can't stop the monster that is Apple marketing. You can only hope to educate the people one at a time, about the evil that is Apple, and especially iTunes. I try to let them know, that once you start using iTunes, you're married to Apple, and your media is now controlled by them.
Apple's like drugs, you try once, your probably hooked. Its gonna take some serious arguement and medication to wake you to outside the Apple bubble.

The great majority of people are like sheep. They like to be led & told what they want and when it's ok to have it & never question why or if they can have anything else. It's called brand consciousness &herd mentality. I just had friend jump ship from a Dinc to an iphone4 and when I asked he said it was better because it was the first.

Well, dude thats because the iPhone is a pretty d*** good phone....now that doesn't justify people asking if the fascinate is an iphone, but it does explain the so called brainwashing. I had an iphone 4 before this, then I ended up moving to verizon and picked the fascinate because it was the best phone available at the time imo. Im not so sure me and my dad would have both gotten fascinate's if the iphone 4 was available at the time. I chose the fascinate because I wanted to try out the android platform and I'm loving it so far. When the iPhone 5 comes out its going to be a tough choice to choose an android phone over it.
The fascinate is fantastic as well but the iphone 4 beats it in battery life and screen resolution imo. If the superamoled+ is as good as they say it is, you can add the galaxy s 2 to the long list of phones I'll be looking at to buy next.
Having said all this, I envision Android and iphone/ios being neck and neck by next year(dual core/graphics/better battery life?)and thats good for all of us.

That last part made my day
Sent from somewhere not in Russia.

My XOOM days are officially over. Almost makes me sad.

Yep, I got a Nexus 10, so I'm doing a little trade with XDAer cdromo90 for a little Nexus 7. He wants to give the XOOM to his nephew for a larger screen, and I will probably give the N7 to my nephew for his birthday in a couple of months (his mom got a Kindle Fire for Christmas, and I think he's been bitten by the Android bug, so I want to make sure he gets off to a good start! )
As one of the very first people to own the very first Android tablet, I have to say it's been a great ride. I was one of the lucky ones who got a VZW 3G XOOM on day one at a discounted price ($200 off) due to a glitch in Motorola's system (You guys remember THAT? Ha! Still one of the best deals I've ever gotten hands down!). It was my first experience as an early adopter of any device, and I have to say it's been a great experience! To see Android tablets come from Honeycomb and grow up to Jellybean really made me appreciate being on the cutting edge. Not only has the XOOM gotten better with every Android update, but even to this day I feel like it's still good enough for a daily driver even with all of the new tablets coming out, not to mention I still think it's the best built, best looking tablet to this day (I love the N10, and a few other tablets have been ok looking, but the XOOM is just a marvelously well built piece of technology.) With custom Jelly Bean ROMS and the ability to overclock it, I felt like it still had a good amount of life left in it, and I'm happy to pass it along to someone who will still use and enjoy it instead of it sitting in my closet as a backup.
So, off I ride into the sunset. So long, XOOMers!
My old wifi Xoom
Team EOS is keeping my Xoom interesting with their Jellybean 4.2 nightlies. There still isn't much I can't do with this old tablet. And like you said it's still the best built and best looking tablet around .

I agree, but I jumped to the N10 when I began to doubt the Xoom would get 4G with JB 4.2. I'm glad I was wrong on that, but now I wpn't give up the incredible resolution on the N10.
The Xoom is definitely showing its age but its been pretty awesome to see its performance increase from 3.x to 4.0 to 4.1.
Enjoy the Nexus 10, I'm mildly jealous but I'm waiting for next year's nexus 10" and really hoping its built by Motorola.
Funny enough I can't see myself parting with my Xoom. It may overtaken by newer devices but it is a fine solid bit of kit and can just be retasked to other duties. I saw one being built into a car as a multimedia centre. There will always be a use for it until it dies

My XOOM is my baby and I'll never let her go. That is, unless, maybe Motorola decides to build a worthy successor. I refuse to say the Xyboard is even a thing.
I just sold my 4g Xoom for $225. I will surely miss it. I am sad tonight.
yep. i just leave my Xoom goodbye yesterday. I bought nexus 7 3g and I'm really happy. the top reasons to consider nexus 7 are: less hand fatigue, 100 % so portable, fast software update, good customer support( service centre just in front of my house), its an Asian product and cheap. reasons to dump Xoom: lack of software update, Motorola doesn't keep their promises, bulky, hand fatigue, not really portable, most of all, hard to play games especially when pressing button. so goodbye xoomers.

I thought about selling my Xoom when the nexus 10 came out. I decided to keep it and avoid the hassle of selling the Xoom. Also decided to buy a nexus 7. Really happy that I decided to keep the Xoom. I really like the fact that I have the LTE Verizon version. Also like the fact that it has a camera (and a pretty decent one at that) and HDMI out. It is starting to show is age a bit, but it's no doubt a well built quality device. I'm sure we'll never see key like pie, but Team EOS and CyanogenMod have kept the Xoom relevant with their hard work on 4.2. I'll be keeping mine for at least another year.

As I did do the same with my Casio Agenda, HP 24C, HP 48G (it was stolen, unfortunately) and my Palm Life Drive.
Enviado de meu XOOM MZ605 (Android 4.2.2 pelo Team EOS 4).
Wow same here...just got the nexus 7 and looking to sell my xoom. It has been great and still is.

I am on EOS4 build184on my WiFi Xoom and its running perfectly. I'm overclocked to 1600Mhz and its running smooth and fast. JB 4.2.1 is not meant to run on this old processor but Team EOS has managed to make my Xoom run like the best of tablets. I do have to mention the fact that I am using a 3rd party keyboard and Nova launcher to get past some of the shortcomings of this old hardware but I'm satisfied with it.
