Damn so soon
Didnt google just announce though that there wasnt going to be a N2? - http://pocketnow.com/tech-news/google-says-no-nexus-two-nexus-one-is-last-of-the-line
Neowin has just learned from an inside source close to Google that they are hard at work on the successor of the Nexus One, dubbed the Nexus Two.
Although not too much information has been revealed about the Nexus Two, but the tipster has revealed Google is going to release it within the next month. With other rumors of Android 3.0 in the wild, running on what looks to be the Nexus One, which could actually be the first image of the Nexus Two, shows the device running a new firmware with a piece of paper covering the top of the phone.
Nexus One may not have sold a lot of units, around 135,000 units in the first three months, and was even dropped by Sprint due to poor sales and because its bigger competition, the HTC EVO 4G, was about to debut for release.
Google stopped shipping the Nexus One earlier this month, closing its online store so consumers couldn't purchase the phone directly from the company themselves.
According to our source, the Nexus Two is set to release next month, but no pricing, date or technical specs were released, but Google is secretly working on the Nexus Two. One thing is for sure, Google will need to make this release a good one if they want to compete with Apple's iPhone 4, Microsoft's Windows Phone 7, and the HTC EVO 4G.

will be interesting to see if this is true?
this is all very confusing but also kind of f*****g sweet
I don't believe it...
I hope it's a tablet, 8" screen Media drive slot, USB port etc...
I am getting it if it is true but too bad it probably won't happen
According to CNET's Buzz Out Loud, Google announced it will not be producing any more devices. It's verified here:

LoL! 3.0 isn't even due 'til December! Those guys just saw the picture of a N1 with 3.0 and decided to make up a story.
Sounds like a great story...hopefully it will have a happy ending.
Probably stupidly referring to the G2 slide or whatever its called.
No screen/processor/OS upgrade worth making a Nexus Two right now in any case.
It's probably a tweaked nexus one to be sold as ADP3

I don't either...But if Schmidt said the N1's purpose was to push the hardware platform, and now everyone is pretty much caught up? I wouldn't put it past Google to want to push it again.
Come on G, show 'em how it's done...Again!
There is no point in pushing it again, not now, and not in any near future. The current top Android devices sport the best HW available.
Looking for page hits, that's what this article is...
This information does not surprise me at all with the exception of Google making another Nexus. About 3.0 i am not surprised at all and I expect leaks to start happening in august.. screens and images of phones that might carry the new Software version. Considering Google plans to debut this update around OCT then at the very latest we should have seen quite a bit by SEPT..
This is one of the rumors that everybody could write.
Obviously, bull****.
There won't be a N2. Since N1 kicked off android development so successfully, if google is working on some hardware, it'll be a tablet or something similar. Something to expand android to other devices.
What if T-Mobile's HTC Emerald IS the NEXUS TWO?

Idk what to do because new phones come out every 2 months that are better and make the previous models obsoletee! Should i get the nexus one or wait for the HTC supersonic? Do you think the nexus one will loose its value over the next 6 months if i decide to sell it?

I disagree; better models being released do not make a phone obsolete. Sure it means you're not on the bleeding edge of technology, but your nice new shiny phone will not degenerate into a piece of rusty scrap metal overnight. It will be a long time before these phones are obsolete.

I can't answer this as a quick Google produces conflicting accounts regarding quality, what stage the phone is up to regarding development, etc.. The specs I've read are also "leaked" (see: subject to change or may not even be true at all).

It wont lose all of its value, obviously, but it certainly can go down just a tiny bit in price. I'd say get a Nexus One and sell it when you're ready; just make sure you take care of it, keep all original boxes and manuals, all plastic wrappers and casings, etc so you can get the maximum amount of money possible for it.

no offense to you, sasha...
but do these types of posts ever cease here?
heheh...seriously...if your opinion is that a new, bigger, better phone will be out in 2 months, then perpetually wait for that phone! based on that statement, you'll never feel comfortable buying a new phone.
do yourself a favor...buy a nexus one, enjoy it, and when you're tired of it, buy a new one.
A phone backed exclusively by GOOGLE is not going to loose any value.
Any other phone is just that a new phone. But a phone sponsored by a company I.E apple (iphone) Palm (pre) Google (nexus One) etc. Fall into a different category.
At the end of the day people look at google and know their phone is the nexus one so that adds value to the device.
Plus i prefer to be backed by google all the way. This means that the moment a new release is out in the AOSP rep the google backed phone will have first dibs on it so youll always be up to date.
Perfect example is look at the htc devices and motorola. 2.1 Been out for q month now and the only phone with it officially is the nexus one.
The other devices are not making the leap to 2.1 till probably next month or april. T oeach its own but there is a difference between a FLAGSHIP company phone and just a Released updated phone.
please excuse my being ignorant... besides wimax, will supersonic support WCDMA&GSM I am totally an idiot about WiMax technology...
The bigger issue in my mind would be who in the modding community is going to support it.

The absolute BEST way to play this game is to buy the first phone that comes out on the market using the next best processor.
The N1 currently has the only Snapdragon processor on the market.
It will be 9-12 months before the next 3.7 inch (or larger) Android phone with the next best processor is released.
Nuff said.
I bought the Nexus One, because I like having the lastest coolest stuff available to me, ie Android 2.1. I don't think we'll be sitting around 6 months after Android 3.0 (or whatever release) waiting for Google to push us an update. After owning an iPhone since day one I realized hardware isn't everything (This applies to other devices & hardware as well) I think we'll have the latest features with the N1 for a very long time, if we don't it'll be hacked in under 30 days, ie Desire ROM.
I will say this about the N1, when I first received it I thought I made a mistake coming from the iPhone but after a month with the phone there is no way I could go back to that glorified VTech toy. Every issue or complaint I had about the phone has been addressed by either Google, Cyanogen or a third party developer. (Other than my palms continually touching the screen but a case fixed that)
But seriously, you're looking at phones like they are software. Always something new around the corner. Outside of IT stuff, my other passion is cars. When considering a phone, look at it like you would a car. There is always going to be something out there faster, nicer and more fuel efficient but that doesn't mean your current car isn't fast, fun to drive or even a "clunker" And don't take me the wrong way I'm not talking down or preaching I had a hard time getting over the idea of not having the "best phone" for at least the next year coming from the iPhone that had zero competition (IMO) for two years. I waited for the Nexus One because it can out do pretty much anything the iPhone can do but that doesn't make my old iPhone any less of a great phone (despite what I'm sure others in this forum have to say about it). But also like a car, do your research and be very sure of your decision because you're going to be stuck with it for a very long time (Owning a phone for 2 years is like owning a car for 5 or 6 years)
Hope that helps you make a decision!
i bought the Nexus One. more then likely i'll strongly consider buying the SuperSonic.
tis' the life of a phone geek. good thing you get back some of your money reselling i guess.
Get the Nexus & try it! Maybe you'll like it so much that you won't want to get rid of it so soon But if do, then just trade up

Depends on your situation. Supersonic means you have to be with Sprint, N1 means T-Mobile or ATT(w/o 3g). If you have prefer one over the other, choose your phone accordingly. Otherwise, getting N1 now isn't a bad idea if you want to be on the cutting edge.
Now, the downside of being on the cutting edge is that things don't always work smoothly. N1 even with the latest (beta?) radio rom still give me lots of dropped calls, touchscreen randomly borked, etc.. Not that I wasn't prepared for this, but it kinda surprised me to see these problem from Google. Maybe they should have just released it as BETA(tm).
I have a feeling that there are bugs to be weeded out with N1. While Google is 100% behind the handset, remember that this is actually their first handset. So don't expect smooth experience with N1.
As for losing value, I never really thought of that since I save all my old cellphones.

That's a Bummer! I have none of the issues you mention, and it's been super from day one!!
I believe that the Nexus One will have a much bigger hacker community than Supersonic.
If you can still wait until the Supersonic is out, you might as well wait for that time and see *all* your options in the market. Who knows? Maybe, Nexus One (or HTC Desire) will be cheaper by the time Supersonic is out or there's another great phone with nice specs and a huge dev community.
If you really can wait for so long, you might also want to consider waiting for Nexus Two.
If you can't wait for so long, buy the Nexus One now. Beside the hardware; the support from Google, HTC (especially because of the Desire ROM ports), and a huge community make Nexus One a winner.
The Nexus One seems to be the G1 when in comes to the developing community, and its popularity/all the Android newcomers. The G1 seems to get the most development of all the Android devices (judging from this place, always seem to be something going on over there with the G1). Despite it's design, and processor.. people do seem to love the G1, it even still seems to be going strong after its 2008 release too.
I assume the N1 will be the same ~.~ loved, and loved for long.

Agreed. I used to get the newest and best of everything, now I stick to the ones with the best community - problems get fixed and new things get ported. The less widespread, but "newer" stuff usually has very little support.

Actually the HTC HD2 has the snapdragon too and technically hit the market before the Nexus One.
Your theory is sound though. Buy a phone with the next step in technology and it will age slower. As everyone has said, phones are probably the fastest moving field of technology so there is always a better model just a couple of months away. Get something like a Nexus One that has good support from it's manufacturer, good support in the community, is still very new and will have good resale value and thats your best bet.
If 4G is important for you, wait for the supersonic. Otherwise, get N1 and enjoy it until the new HTC Olympian. I read this will be the android version of HD2!
how about wait for the HTC Hypersonic, I hear it allows you to travel in time ;-)
Eric Schmidt's words concerning why the Nexus One was created and how we dont need number Two.
Initially, Google felt that they needed to build a device to help Android along so they worked with HTC to create the Nexus One handset. Schmidt says: “The idea a year and a half ago was to do the Nexus One to try to move the phone platform hardware business forward. It clearly did. It was so successful, we didn't have to do a second one. We would view that as positive but people criticised us heavily for that. I called up the board and said: 'Ok, it worked. Congratulations - we're stopping'. We like that flexibility, we think that flexibility is characteristic of nimbleness at our scale."

What about a 1280x720 4" IPS screen, sub-10mm thickness, aluminum/carbon fiber construction, HDMI port, front-facing camera, Tegra 2 SoC, battery life that is amazing, and capacitive touch buttons that are actually silk screened right?
And of course, a unicorn detector
oh well, there's the answer to that. now we all just wait for the next developer phone, whoever google decides to use. let's hope HTC again or maybe motorola.

+1 on this. SE really dropped the ball when they attacked the smartphone market. The W series phones were cutting edge in terms of being music centric. The K series were really good too, my K750i has the best 2 megapixel sensor of any camera. The K850i was a real stormer of a phone too.
I don't know what happened in SE HQ when they moved onto touchscreen phones and the like. They were ahead of the curve back in the day but maybe their UI let them down?
Samsung are another company who made good hardware but ****ed it up with their clunky software.
I'm not sure how these guys turn the ship around but HTC came from nowhere and are one of the biggest mobile phone manufacturers about now. Surely SE and Samsung can make a cracking phone again and win some of the market share back.
Another issue might be locking down access to root or bastardising Android with a clunky shell. HTC avoided that with a pretty nice UI in Sense.

That's why I love em.
Knew it and have been saying it all along.
The Nexus One was never supposed to outsell any other phone or become an income source for Google. It was meant to drive the Android OS and the hardware platform and as Schmitty says, it "clearly worked".
Android market share has rocketed and continues to do so and even today, 7 months later from intro, new Android phones are STILL catching up to the specs of the Nexus One.

Since android's beginning, there has always been Google's developer phone, the one that Google uses to write the android OS on. First was the g1, now its nexus. It will always be a vanilla android version, not HTC sense or MOTOblur or whatever. Perhaps the next one will be sold thru a carrier, but I think they will ensure it can be purchased unlocked too. We don't know, this is new territory, and The nexus kinda set the standard. So I'm anticipating Google will make sure the next phone can be had without the carrier influence as well.
I actually don't think there should be a Nexus 2 from Google. They should just stick to what they do best and make great software. I don't think selling physical products is their thing and the Nexus One has served it's purpose of demonstrating the potential of Android.
Hopefully the plan is to dramatically improve the UI with Gingerbread and convince manufacturers like HTC and Motorola to run vanilla Android. They can release new versions of Android and leave it up to the manufacturers to deliver the updates.
I'm done with SE, myself. I followed them for a little while with a P990i, then Xperia X1 and was going to get an X10... but glad I got a Nexus One instead.
High-priced pieces of trash, they are. I know the X1 was HTC built and rebranded, but WinMo was so laggy on it and SE slapped an $800 price tag on it. Enough to wake you up.
So there won't be a N1 successor ??

Sure is nice having Google dictate what goes on the phone and not T-Mobile or AT&T or whoever. I think I'd opt for a slightly weaker phone over one with Sense UI and branding all over it.
I guess I'll be buying whichever dev phone is popular at the time, or making damn sure the phone has Cyanogen et al behind it and that it is vanilla.
No N2?!? Oh come on! It's not like they have to do much. Just make it a 4" screen, swap in a better 3D co-processor, slap a real keyboard on it and call it a day. I'd buy that off-contract any day!
I would agree that the N1 put android on the map, at the centre. They have multiple partners now SPAMMING rediculously good phones for android, the consumers know about it and WANT it, theyve done their task. Let them get back to making the OS orgasmic, and let HTC etc make phones that can vibrate
Like a guy said eariler this is whats called damage control. The N1 didn't start anything with Android OS, it was the Droid that did that. The N1 is a tiny blip on the radar of Android sales. The N1 failed and this is an arrogant look at the N1. The fact of the matter is HTC was planning 1ghz phones regardless of the N1 existance or not, remeber that phone list that was leaked last year of all the phones coming out this year? I love my N1 but lets face it google dropped the ball on it.
1. restrictions on the subdizing
2. restrictions on the type of plan
3. No dummy phones for TMO stores
IMO if they would have stuck the N1 in stores made it easy like Droid, Samsung Vibrant, and EVO, then N1 at the time would have been a mega hit. It was the first phone (that I can remember) with a ghz processor ppl would have went nuts for it because of the speed and its a really sexy looking phone.
1. Release Q1 2011
2. Dual core 1.5ghz snapdragon
3. 1GB ram
4. At least 960x640 res super-amoled display
5. Touch screen which actually works
6. New version of android that that will be exclusive to the device for at least 2 months with some super cool features such as 1080p out via hdmi port
7. 10mp+ camera
8. Built by Motorola or HTC
Google.......make it happen
Sincerely,

No doubt. It looks like it was ripped from an iPhone ad. There's a time and a place where phone specs are over kill. Not that none of the above wouldn't be welcome... but as far as the next Nexus... well the first Nexus is still awesome.
I haven't put this damn phone down hardly at all. And its plenty fast. I think at this point, the software needs to play catch up to the high phone specs.
Nexus 2 will not happen. It's a fact.
Eric said they will not make one, and there is no reason to make one.
Android was pushed much farther and much faster then they anticipated, they have no reason to make one more Android developer phone. There are tons of awesome android phones out there already.
You'd think after a CEO tells you it won't happen, u wouldn't open threads about Nexus Two.
There will be no nexus 2 with the lamer specs, too conservative.
Perhaps the nexus 2 will ber a tablet computer based on gingerbread and nvidia tegra.

Why in the world would Motorola jump onto Google's trademark and start making "Nexus phones"???
It's like saying "Oh yeah, toyota no longer makes supras, but maybe we'll see a BMW Supra"... seriously.
Motorola will continue making "Droids", HTC will make their usual stuff, Samsung will push Galaxy line.
What's so bad about the fact that you have a special edition, one-of-a-kind developer phone that was released in limited quantities for a limited purpose, and then stopped selling? FFS, I was very happy when I saw that Nexus One sales will stop. In a year from now, I'll be selling mine in a perfect condition for BIG $$$$.
I see only positive in the fact that Nexus line is over. Heck, admit it, in a year or so, there will be much better phones than nexus for everyday use.

I dont believe it will be easy to sell our old Nexi (Yeah, thats right, I said Nexi). Think about it, would you buy a G1 for premium bucks now or the latest and greatest phone instead. Most people wanting the Nexus now are people like us that need the newest hardware every 3 months.
My prediction is that the next dev phone will not focus on faster, but focus on lower power. Increasing battery life has to be a cocern for them. 1ghz is plenty fast as we all know, but we could benefit from more efficient processors running at the same speed we have now.
Of course the same speed isn't as much fun.

Google better not leave us Nexus One owners out to dry for this Nexus S. Im talking about being the first to get updates like Gingerbread and Honeycomb (at least up to Honeycomb).
I still love my Nexus One and don't see any overwhelming reason to change to the Nexus S. Especially since HTC has been SO good to me.
Who's with me? Any of you thinking about jumping ship? Why?
Best
im with you, i dislike the general look of samsung hardware, looks like an iphone to me...
I'll stick with the Nexus One because it's still great and will get the latest updates.
And I agree with the guy above.
Oh, see this comparisation of the Nexus S, Nexus One and Galaxy S http://www.google.com/phone/compare/?phone=nexus-s&phone=nexus-one&phone=samsung-galaxy-s
try posting this in the right section... this is for apps and themes
lol, don't kid yourself, Google abandoned the N1 3 months after it came out. The N1 is getting shafted. Thanks Google.
If Google F's us over we still got the Dev. and XDA to save the day.
I don't see them leaving us in the dark.
As for getting the new one. At this point, nope. Not enough there to justify the $529. More memory, but no expansion?? 2nd Camera that I would never use. The Gyroscope. Eh.
Really the only thing there is Android 2.3. It will come out eventually for the N1. Even if not right away I will wait for it. I might try it when it comes time to upgrade the latest Desire Port but I have been happy with Sense UI and want to keep that in the long term so no big deal.
Not worried about Google as long as we have XDA!

there nothing to add
I would like to definitely try it. The only thing that kinda bothers me is the built in memory, but then again I have 8GB on the nexus one and I don't really feel the need to upgrade to anything more yet. If I switch to the nS is because of the front camera and (hopefully) a better digitizer, I hate the half baked one of the n1.
Me too...still love my nexus one even can not afford google maps 5.0 on gingerbread...
i doubt google will leave the nexus one behind, especially since the N1 and NS are very similiar in hardware, the NS is supior in power, but not enough to make it get updates the N1 won't
Also google has already said the N1 will be getting gingerbread in a few weeks, and i'm sure both phones will be getting honeycomb when it eventually comes out.

Thats a very good point Neo, Thanks.
I'm pretty sure they did ages ago and just handed over everything to HTC, who will probably get rid of all N1 support in about 6 months when the last warranties expire.
In terms of software though, it BETTER get Gingerbread and Honeycomb.

Let me paraphrase that for you.
I have a Nexus One, a year old phone, that is being surpassed by superior hardware on a slew of devices. Google better continue specializing their production of Android based on my year old device, those bastards. If they move forward and advance phone tech and its corresponding software I'm gonna be pissed!

Joking aside ; even if Google does abandon us, as you say, it's certainly not the end for the Nexus One. Look at the G1 running Froyo for crying out loud. There are a lot of N1's floating around out there, and the demographic of its users are almost all tech heads like ourselves - A LOT of whom are even developers/programmers.
Don't concern yourself with the matter, if your phone does what you need it to and you like it... keep it. If you need to be first in line for updates directly from Google for the next year, I would suspect the NS would be the way to go.
Personally, I'm hanging on to my N1 until there are some respectable multi-core phones on the market. When that day finally comes I intend on having my Nexus framed; this has been the best phone I've owned and I don't think I could find it in myself to sell it.

That N1 has never gotten shafted, seriously. Give an example. The reality is that 11 months after its release we are still at the head of the line for OS updates. What is it with the ridiculous persecution complex among some N1 owners??
We should as a community make sure that google doesn't leave us.
we must remind them that as we were loyal to them, and they'd better not do an apple thing and ditch us.
Our phone's still more than capable compared to any other phone out there....
Send them a msg @
Here
Although XDA community's gr8, we should get their support too.

This alone should be enough to console the worried. A 2 year old phone, with incredibly outdated hardware, is still getting major support from developers -- if even Google abandons us.. hopefully there is one place that won't.
I bet the G1 itself is going to get a Gingerbread port.

Indeed, +1
I dont get why anyone gets so defensive about a phone, whatever it may be. Choose the phone which does what YOU want it to do, what it does NOW, not what it may or may not do in the future. Then, when you've made the choice, don't try and tell everyone else what they should or shouldn't choose.
As for the NS, looks nice enough, but I wont buy one for 2 reasons. First I've just bought an iphone 4 and second I'm reluctant to buy anything from samsung - I've had very little luck with their products - not just phones, and its always been a frustrating ownership experience - and worse - when its time to sell on, the resale value is terrible.

Google owes you nothing. The N1 was primarily a reference dev device for Eclair/Froyo. The NS is the new reference dev device for Gingerbread/2.4.
It's called progress, get over it.
Does anyone thing this is the route that Google will takes? I mean, people complain about the build quality of the Nexus S being all plastic but, I mean it makes sense. Maybe google was like "We dont want to make a Nexus Two, lets make a Nexus with a different theme, different company" hence why the picked Samsung. Or maybe they just wanted something that would be cheap to mass produce and easy to sell. It would be cool to see a Nexus X a year from now, using the same build material as the Droid X, you know, that soft rubber paint stuff they use on their phones along with some physical buttons, I'm just saying, maybe Google is pimping out their Nexus to whoever can cough up enough dough.. just sayin' lol.
I would hope the nexus line is reserved for the best there is to offer on the market. When the n1 came out it had top tier stuff like the 1ghz snapdragon processor in it. Fast forward to the ns and you have the hummingbird processor and the samoled screen. Personally it doesn't get better than that at this point. The way I see it is I don't care who makes the phone as long as it has the top notch hardware available to go along with those immediate Google updates.
I'm a nexus s and I approve this message

I keep wondering about that, since the Nexus One update isn't so immediate, are the Nexus S updates NOT going to be immediate in the same way, when the Nexus (next) will be released? That would suck if Google did it again.

This update-delay for a Nexus (in this case the Nexus One) will just be once: at the time another Nexus is released. After then, they will get the updates at the same time (more or less). Why do I think this? The Nexus S isn't even released yet in a lot of countries, and since it is the 'first device with Gingerbread', it would be strange if the Nexus One had Gingerbread 3 months before the Nexus S in most countries. Also, I think they released Gingerbread on the Nexus S, before it was ready for other devices. I hope I can explain this to you with my bad english: If you buy a Nexus the day it comes out, you don't get the latest software; you get the software before it is even out. The updates that will be released after that, will come to your Nexus at the time it is released, not before.
I hope you understand what I'm trying to say

I do. And I think it makes perfect sense
It was pretty clear to me that using "S" (presumably for Samsung) instead of "2" meant that Google was leaving the door open for other "Nexus" phones from other companies. I was more along the lines of a Nexus "M" (Motorola), etc, but the S could be for S as in Galaxy "S", in which case your "X" and others make more sense.
The question becomes what would the next Nexus phone from Samsung be, the Nexus S2...?
I think that Nexus will just mean it's a Google sanctioned phone, that runs pure Google Android (no add-ons like Motoblur or TouchWiz or Sense), and is sold UNLOCKED. Note that I did not say they will be a "developer" phone...

I think the next Nexus wont be a phone, it will be a tablet. It makes sense: Google is focusing on tablets now, with 3.0 and all. What I think that they will release another Nexus phone in 2 years, and next year there will be a Nexus Tab or something.

I think that would piss a lot of people off especially the guys on here that switch devices once every year. I can see them releasing a "nexus tab" but not without a new nexus phone to go along with it. But who knows, I'd say nobody on here ever thought they'd go with Samsung to make the next generation nexus. It wouldn't surprise me if they released a top secret tab with dual core when honeycomb is released. Anythings possible that's for sure lol.

I dunno about "nobody", I never thought they "wouldn't" either, but frankly I didn't think about it all. When Google said "no Nexus 2" I took them at face value and figured no Nexus from any manufacturer.
If the rumors pan out, I would personally love to see a "Nexus N" from Nokia (maintaining the N moniker from the Nseries devices). Having Nokia's top notch hardware and incredible camera optics coupled with Android would perhaps be the perfect device.

Some people are just anti-Samsung and have blinders on about them. They certainly have software update issues, but in my opinion the SAMOLED screens can't be beat by any other display out there, and the rest of the hardware on the SGS series of phones, except for the plastic case, is as good as or better than anything else available.
I also was very excited at an improved i9000-like phone with Google's blessing. If only I'd remembered how much I hate T-Mobile's service in Los Angeles...I'd have probably passed on the Nexus S.

ok so maybe a little over exaggeration on my part but my point was who knows who itl be or if theyl change makers or even if theyl build a new one at all. this phone is the best available, it wasnt a knock at samsung in the least, i had a captivate before the ns and loved it.

I defended Samsung for a long time, but I've had enough problems with Samsung to prefer never to buy their stuff again if I don't have to. Both me and my girlfriend are on our 3rd Nexus S's since launch and neither of us are crazy about the build materials. The cheap piano black plastic they use has been consistent with all of their phones I've used since the i8910 and what's said about delayed software updates is true across the board. It took forever to get updates for the i8910 and everyone knows about the Galaxy S updates. If it weren't for the SAMOLED and Google handling the updates, I wouldn't have bothered with the Nexus S at all.

The motorola xoom is essentially the nexus tablet. Software made by google, it's the first to be released with it (honeycomb), and it's the reference device the software has been made on. Considering history dictates the device running the newest software is an official google device, I'll be getting the xoom.

I have used cheap plastic phones before and nexus s certainly is not cheap - far from it. It feels as good as plastic can feel, I have never held a better plastic based phone. I don't understand peoples complaints with it. The only bad thing is it's a finger print magnet. But I use a case with all my phones so it's no biggy.
