I just received my touch HD yesterday and found an annoying bug when I was trying to disable 3G (since I am in the US). Maybe I was going about it wrong, but here is the problem:
* When I disable HSDPA/HSUPA in the connection settings, WinMo will infinitely reboot.
I searched but the only infinite reboot problems I found were related to the colored task bar.
This isn't a huge problem, I just won't disable that anymore, but I thought I would let you know since I didn't see anything about it in the forum. I could have missed it though. If this is a re-post you are welcome to delete it.
That's interesting.... by infinite boot do you mean, it keeps rebooting and not letting you do anything until you do a hard reset? I too am in the states and have disabled that option, and I don't have problem. However, what does happen (and I haven't seen anyone post about this, maybe because they haven't figured out why it's doing it yet), is that the phone reboots when it looses signal (I'm pretty sure of this, as the only time my phone ever reboots itself are in three exact locations, where i get 1 bar max). I'm not sure if this is related to the Data connection either (as I do use one). I'd love to see a discussion => solution on this problem.

YES! I think you have solved my reboot issues!
I also live in the US and on some downtime I was fooling around with my HD and also discovered where I could disable HSDPA/HSUPA and thought since it is not needed and may use resources/power I turned it off. Sadly I started getting reboots during what seemed like weak network connections (1 bar or less). I have a few tweak programs and have changed several settings but didn't know where to begin, and would not have thought about turning HSDPA back on, to figure this one out without hard resetting.
Thanks for your post! I will turn HSDPA back on and hope that solves my problem.
Did you happen to notice if it wanted to do it with low network signals?
Regards,
Gordo
Well, I turned both of them back on, and let you know if it will get rid of the 'random' restarts
Yes, it would infinitely reboot until I hard reset the device.
It would boot most of the way into windows, load up TF3D, then reboot.
I have hard reset about 3 times today, everything worked fine each time until I disabled HSDPA/HSUPA (via Start->Settings->Connections->Advanced Network)
Each time I hard reset, I didn't install any programs, just disabled that setting and... boom infinite reboot. (Everything worked fine until that setting changed. Phone/SMS/...)
EDIT: @Svegetto - For me they weren't 'random' reboots, it was a reboot loop.
My Device
CE OS: 5.2.20757 (Build 20757.1.4.0)
ROM Version: 1.14.405.3 (22273) WWE
Radio: 1.09.25.14
Protocol: 52.49a.25.26U
In case it matters...
I was getting the same thing with a weak signal. I was in a hotel where when I got in the elevator bam, it would reboot. Did it pretty much every time.
I was in another location where I was not getting any signal and it was stuck in that same reboot loop. After noticing it would happen while it was trying to locate a signal I removed the sim card and it would reboot fine. Until now I was leaning toward a hardware problem (that I didn't cause) that may have involved the cellular radio overloading the system during a weak signal when it is throttled at max power output. Good radio signals cause it to throttle back to save power so I was about ready to send it in for repair! I even tried a different sim card, SD card, and battery with no change. Now remembering that I did turn off that HSDPA setting, and have since turned it back on, I will be hopeful that my problems are over!
This site is great!! Thanks guys/gals!

Gordo
Reboots
WOw.. i never thought i would find a thread.. i thought i was the only one. Everytime I get on a plane... and thats a lot... when i arrive at the next airport... searching for signal and then reboot loop... infinite frustrating reboot loop.... solution... take out sim... reboot... clear storage.. insert sim... restore from week old backup...
If this HSDPA thing solves my problem.. i will buy someone a beer.
Well I have just 'tested' the 'random' reboot at one of the spots that it would normally reboot, and no reboot (although I've never experienced the infinite reboot, mine would usually reboot once, than maybe a second time, but I'm confident to say that it was due to the HSDPA/HSUPA setting which is really funny cause for the past 3 months I've been waiting for someone to post a thread on the topic)
But yes, it would seem that even if you're in the states and will never get to use it, leave HSDPA/HSUPA enabled (or if someone feels like doing further testing to find out if it's just HSDPA or HSUPA that causes this issue, or both)
Well done all around!

USA Touch HD Users-Beware!
For what it's worth, turning HSDPA back on totally fixed the reboot problem. It has not happened a single time since doing that.
For anyone doing a thread search to troubleshoot this problem it is under:
Settings - Connections - Advanced Network - HSDPA tab
If you were so inclined, as I was, to turn it off thinking it might save battery life or something, don't do it! Low network signal strength will cause it to reboot.

Gordo
Yes re-enabling HSDPA/HSUPA solves the problem. I started a thread on this last week when I first got my HD:

And here goes some others with the same problem:

I love this site!!
I've been having the same problem and it makes sense now, everytime I phone would reboot I had almost no service. I don't know why I didn't notice the pattern.
Ok about a couple hours ago I noticed my wifi would turn itself on multiple times, and I turn it off and it keeps coming on, I think it does it when I put my phone to sleep, im not sure. I think it started happening since I installed the Blue Star 5 theme. Any ideas?
Stupid question... but you don't have Locale installed do you?
Figured I would ask. I have mine set up so that it would automatically fire up my wifi because although I get 3G outside I can't get it through my mighty wooden walls where I live. Go figure. Every so often I guess Locale looses my position and it puts me on and off the network. Pretty annoying. So I disabled that and installed some apps to keep my wifi on even while my phone sleeps. There's a few out there, Wifi Insomnia, Wi-Fi Lock, KeepWiFi are a few that I have experiment with. Although since I have all three installed now... I'm honestly not sure which one I'm using.

Hmmm. Well... maybe try seeing if it does it in safe mode if that doesn't work. If it does it in safe mode too then I dunno. If it doesn't then it's probably an app messing with it.
I heard it could be ShopSavvy that is causing that.
If you have an app like keepwifi that basically keeps your wifi signal on, that might be whats causing it. If not, you might want to try other apps that require things such as internet access or access to settings.
We need an list of apps you have installed. Power Manager will do this also.
I too am having this problem!
Sometime the wifi doesn't stay on and I only knew it was turning on thanks to wifi toggle's symbol at the top.
I am running JF's 1.43 RC9 with root etc etc.
The apps I have installed are:
ASTRO
Download crutch lite
DroidFtp
Droidsans tweak tools
fBook
GPS status
JF updater
Meebo
PapiJump
Picasa
Pkt auctions ebay
Ringdroid
Scrambled net
Shazam
Shopsavvy (my suspisions are on this one!)
Skype
Sms awake
Toggle wifi
Thanks
Phil
Okay, figured out what it is. Its the theme u downloaded. Couple hours ago my g1 started turning on the wifi whenever it felt like it.I figured it was something I downloaded recently but I downloaded apps to check them out& then uninstalled them.apps have no effect after u uninstall them.then u mentioned the theme u just downloaded. Well go figure,I just downloaded the same theme wit a few others today.then my wifi started acting up.concidence? I think not.
Lol let me know how u do.
Hmmm, im not sure if its the theme, someone mentioned the setting on ShopSavvy, after I took it off it hasnt been turning on. I still have the theme on btw, but I modified it, so it may have been ShopSavvy
wifi not turning on
My problem is different my wifi wont turn on? if i start my wifi it will show a message that wifi failed to turn on... Can anyone help me on this
Weird, i had shopsavvy from day one, never encountered such a problem. still have it, and deleted the theme. Now the wifi is back to normal. problem with the G1 is, everyone can have the same problems or issues but different solutions with each device lol. the beauty of the G1.
Btw, does anyone know if the "shake awake" app really kills the battery?

ShopSavvy is a definite cause of this problem. I've been in touch with the developers over it, and they have admitted that there's a problem with the WiFi coming on randomly
they've assured me that the next update will fix it. i hope so, because ShopSavvy was useful until it started doing this
here you go guys............i posted this in the Tethering thread as well. this will fix the issue. it is indeed Shop Savvy, but heres the fix, just copy and pasted from my other post:

2. once Shop savvy's screen shows up, SELECT settings
3. select PRIVACY

5. Exit out of Shop Savvy
Voila.........no more disconnects. I have been tethering for 2 hours non-stop. happy tethering.
my wifi keeps today also itself on
I never installed Shopsavvy. So that cant be the problem.
I didnt changed anything today on my phone

yes, this fixes the issue of ShopSavvy randomly switching on the WiFi and disconnecting ongoing sessions, but it completely renders the most useful thing about ShopSavvy useless.
I've been beta testing the latest version of ShopSavvy, and it doesn't seem to be doing this random WiFi anymore. It is also a version of ShopSavvy that is compatible with Cupcake 1.5.
Sometimes i cant get wifi to work, i open comm manager and wifi its turned on even if i have disable it the last time i use. Then i turn it off and turn on again and i cant get it to work. If i made a soft reset with wifi on, the next boot in comm manager the wifi switch its on, but in task bar it's not showing the wifi icon, then i cant connect even if disable and enable.
The only way to make it work again its doing some soft resets, and sometimes even power off, before this i have to disable it in comm manager.
I thought its my phone problem and today installed the standard rom that came with my phone to send it to rma, but before, i try to replicate the problem and no sucess, wifi always working even after turn off, soft reset etc...
I allways do task 29 before flash, except today that i have installed standard rom, then the cooked.
The roms i use to flash are xanny and nrgz, i have the same problem in both, i even try diferent radios...
Any tip?
Thanks
Since I started flashing I've had this problem. Right after the flash WiFi works like a charm but after the first reset it's gone.
Solution I've been using for more than a year now is the following:
- Goto the WiFi Settings in your configuration settings and push on "Wireless Networks"
- Then "Edit" this profile (in WM 6.5.x the button on the bottom of your screen)
- Then goto "Name Servers" and put in your own
Gateway IP address in the DNS box and/or Wins box
- Press "OK" twice and you'll see the WiFi icon popup in your topbar
I know it's not the best solution but at least it works without having to reset it first (until the next reset. 'cause then you'll have to it again)
Hope it's working for you too.
Thanks i wil try next time to do that.
Its very weird my phone have almost 2 years and in the begining i start to flash i didn't have any problems like this, the original rom didn't last 24h in my phone, i didn't know exactly when it start to happen, but its only in the cooked roms.
I couldn't replicate it in the original rom...
But now since i installed the original rom and then a cooked rom it only happens once, lets see if it gets better.
Wifi Blues
Hi all
I am also facing similar issues on my Blackstone. I am using blackstonehenge rom and tried energy, kwbr rom as well. But my wifi and blue tooth some how don't work.
Today for the first time wifi signal was identified but it dried down quickly afterwards. No clue how it came or why it went away.
Please I need assistance. Can any body help Please.
Regards
I have same problem. Any solution?
well, a good start is to flash the latest radio rom. many cooked roms recommend it and have the corresponding rilphone integrated. if you are already on the latest radio, flash a previous version and then back to latest radio. also, after a radio upgrade, a hard reset is recommended. that should usually get it working.
Hi,
This may be way off mark but thought I'd mention it anyway.
My WIFI worked fine on my phone, then I flashed my first cooked rom a couple of weeks ago. After a soft reset, WIFI would start and be fine for a few minutes then wouldn't connect to anything.
I went through the settings and noticed that the WIFI was set to "best Battery". I moved this to "best performance" and WIFI has been fine ever since.
Like I say, this may be too simple but mabye worth a try.
Cheers
Wifi and Blue Tooth
Chef
I followed your guidelines but my blackstone Wifi and Blue Tooth are not yet working.

Guys,
I updated my tab a few days ago. Now the market looks different but unfortunately I'm facing another irritating problem which I have no clue how to solve.
Every time that I turn off the tab, and let it be idle for 10 minutes, when I turn it back on, the WiFi icon will show no bars - which translates into no internet connectivity. That happens while the WiFi button is still pressed (green in the pop-up menu). In order for the device to connect to the net I need to turn the WiFi OFF and than ON and it works.
I checked the WiFi sleep configuration and they are set to "never turn it off" I also rebooted the device but with no change.
Please let me know what to do... as this thing sometimes just drives me crazy.
Thanks.

Flash a custom rom bro. Otherwise you are stuck with Samsung's awesome bugs. If you don't want to flash a custom rom there isn't really much you can do about it considering you're not rooted. What did you update to? KMP???
I did the regular Samsung update -the latest one that was released a couple of says ago. The problem with rooting is losing the coverage I have for insuring the device... which I'm reluctant to do. I'm sure it has a solution somewhere...
Yes I confirm.
This "reconnect" issue is being discussed on many forums with no solutions yet. (except custom ROM)
Hello everyone,
I recently bought a new S4 i9500 and like every android user moved between some roms - Arrow/Wanamlite and so ... and probably something went wrong:
1. Somewhere in between the "wipe Cache" option in recovery stop working and restarts the phone everytime i try use it.
also, when i enter the Recovery it shows me in the background an Android with Red Warning Triangle (Red triangle with '!' inside it).
tell me If I'm wrong but on other forum they told me its fine, and its a known issue on stock recovery for i9500.
2. The WiFi HoT-Spot isn't working, i can turn it on and other devices can connect but their internet isn't responding (like they're data is turned off), also happends on laptops.
Editing:
3. I have a problem with my screen, its rotating all the time and shows me a digital clock on black backgroung (the same clock from the S View Case - http://cdn.gsmarena.com/pics/13/04/samsung-wireless-charging-pad-review/gsmarena_102.jpg)
when i'm on landscape mode (games, movies...) its rotating back to vertical mode and shows this clock thing ..
it doesnt happend when I am on Flight Mode. I got a new sim, but its not it , also not an error with my celluar operator - cuz we have couple of i9500 and Im the only one who has it.
its getting annoying when it happens 30 times in 2 min. and I just cant use the phone that way.
its like fast blinking, for 1 sec. but it pauses games, movies, canceling keyboards and make the web page pop.
sorry for the poor explanation, its hard to understand num. 3 with seeing it.
hope you understand anyway.
What's Wrong with my S4 ?
thank you all .
Roy.
