Anyone coming from a Nexus one?

Im selling my n1 for this and just wanna here some feedback on people that have had the nexus one and why the vibrant is the better choice for them....
Whats better you noticed?
What do you miss?
Any similarities?
I want this phone badddd, trying to sell n1, but craigslist here has over 500 phones posted a day, hard when theres that much stuff for sale... Soon ill sale this for 200.. I mean common I need that phone.... lol... I feel like a idiot but thats all I want at this moment is the vibrant....

I just got a Samsung a hour ago.. I have a Nexus One now with 2.2 on it.
After 1 hour.. My review..
The usb charging port for the Samsung is on the top of the phone.. Stupid because when you use it in the car the cable needs to reach the top and loop around..
It has 16GB internal and comes with a 2GB microSD card..
It does not seem any faster than the Nexus One, and the Nexus one has the roller ball which I actually use and the Samsung has no hardware buttons on the front..
Camera seems the same, pictures look close to me..
I am suprised how much better the bigger screen looks, I did not think it would be noticable but everything just looks better bigger!!!..
ONE REALLY big thing though... The antenna on the Samsung works better somehow. The Nexus One has never been 3G at my office and the Samsung has full bars on 3G. The Nexus One is showing 3 bars on Edge.. ( I flashed a few days ago to the 2.2 radio, same signal before flash)

I believe if i were to get this phone i would have better 3G because of the N1 antenna woes. But i dont think getting this phone is worth the jump but i will convince my brother to ditch is BB for this

Me! I love it! It feels smaller, screen is way better, it is super snappy, and touchcwiz is actually way better than I thought it would be. 3d gallery is now like butter, love it! Market wont download anything yet though, fails everytime. Sucks, but other than that... also, I am itching to uninstall bloat on it, grr

This may not be a bad thing for everyone though. Would actually work well for me since it stays in my cupholder and I just use BT. Granted, with my G1, it's upside down but CM's orientation hack makes the screen right-side up (not sure if the Vibrant has that incorporated).
Otherwise, yes, the port on top is somewhat odd.

someone will come out with a 90 degree angled usb connection end - if there's not one out there already

I have been playing around with mine for about 3 hours now and i have to agreee with every thing you said and it is pretty much dead on. My reception to is better on the vibrant than the N1 don't know why it just is. I will hold onto my N1 before selling it and play with the SV more to get a "feel" for it
I wish they would have given you a better way to take a picture or activate the shutter, and I wish there was a better way to "wake" the phone up instead of the side button or a double click of the side button.
Also I wanted to comment on the build of the phone I don't think the weight of this phone gives it a "cheap" feel to it I prefer how light it is compared to my N1 and it feels good in my hand.

I agree, it felt very sturdy at the store. Im going to pick mine up in about 2 hours, thanks for your feedback as well.... Makes my decision easier...

Just pick my up at the local store and is simply AWESOME, Download a bunch of apps but still can get it to sync or mount..
the wify kept my nexus and my HD2 went craigslist..

Had my N1 since Jan 5th as well and have LOVED it. Rooted immediately, ran Modaco's Desire Sense port for a while before moving back to CM. Got my Vibrant Monday (yes, really). Rooted Tuesday. Ran Modaco's script to rearrange the internal memory / apps configuration and made the Vibrant go from fast to BLAZING. TouchWiz not bad, but not overly impressed with Samsung's widgets. Some are good, some are a little finicky. Sense nailed widgets much better but Samsung's are decent and better than nothing.
Comparatively, N1 was snappier out of the box as no UI overlay. However with some modding this phone will be on par or perhaps outperform N1 (I say that sensitively as N1 has an extremely special place in my heart . Samsung's Hummingbird processor is phenomenal and outperforms N1 on side-by-side 3d rendering test (YouTube Nexus 1 Galaxy S Quake to see). Vibrant's SuperAmoled Screen is what makes this phone truly special-- it's nothing short of incredible and makes N1's screen seem small and dim in comparison. ESPECIALLY in sunlight- N1 was basically unusable, this thing is nearly un-impacted. Watch the preloaded Avatar on it-- it's just gorgeous. The size and weight are beautiful, the super-light weight does make it almost feel a hair toy-ish but as soon as you touch the silky-smooth screen that feeling disappears. I really was looking for a step up in screen size from N1 and this delivers without the almost-too-big feeling of Evo or HD2.
Cons- miss the trackball for precise in-text navigation and notification alerts. But there's already talk of a mod to flash the capacitive buttons on the bottom for notifications- this will help, especially as there's no LED or anything else to visually alert for notifications. . As previously mentioned, side-mounted lock / unlock button is kind of annoying and will take some getting used to. You can only partially customize TouchWiz's bottom static shortcut dock. Of course, installing ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro will solve that and completely hide TouchWiz but you then lose ability to use Samsung's proprietary widgets, again some of which are actually nice. Also, TouchWiz's unlock on screen method is AWFUL- just a big rectangular movement of the entire screen. Boring and ugly. But you can eliminate lock screen all together with free Market app called No Lock (go figure lol).
All in all, a screen that is definitely a contender for top in the market; all-around outstanding hardware that will take a bit of getting used to from N1; stock software that has improved; modding will make this device a fire-breathing lightning monster (lol).
Love it and highly recommend!!!!!!!!

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I just traded in my Nexus One yesterday and figured I'd revive this instead of starting a new thread. Had it for a full day, and here's what I think about it so far. (I will try to revive this at a month in, then six months in, then a year in if I keep it that long.)
+ It's much lighter, but very plasticky. I loved the aluminum and heft of the N1, but all of the plastic is made up in spades by it's sleek, smooth design. It's a beautiful device.
+ 3G on the Vibrant is much more consistent than it ever was with the N1.
- I really miss my LED notifications. NoLED is alright, but not as dependable. (It doesn't work with Go SMS popups.)
+ The screen is AWESOME. It's much brighter and more color-accurate, though not by a terrible amount. I absolutely love the size of it.
+ 16GB...internal storage!!! I can not only fit all of my music without a SD card, but can fit my ENTIRE LIBRARY with ANOTHER 16GB card! AMAZING!
+ It's a really fast phone.
+ It's a really fast phone.
+ With Nero 4.1/Voodoo, it's a really fast phone.
+ Multitouch actually works well, since I can use Swype like a normal keyboard and rotate on Google Maps (which is FRIGGIN SWEET)
- No flash is a bit of a letdown.
+ Camera makes up for it; it's quite good. Haven't tried recording with it yet, though.
- GPS is a BIG letdown, though triangulation is getting me by.
+ I thought I would hate Touchwiz, and I found out I (sort of) do. I hate the launcher, but it's apps are REALLY good. For example,
+ The music app is solid, and has an equalizer!
+ Alarm app is full-featured (has a timer, stopwatch, etc.)
+ Daily briefing could be useful
+ Desk mode is nice
+ Galaxy Tab email is really nice, though it doesn't provide any better features over the stock email app.
The one disadvantage...
- Wow, there is Engrish EVERYWHERE
- Proprietary drivers suck, but that's tolerable
- Not as straightforward to unlock at the firmware level, but that's tolerable too.
- Will be last to get official updates, but most of us run rooted/modified stuff, so that point is moot. A Gingerbread port is in the works and there are plenty of great Froyo ROMs for the device right now. (Nero 4.1 is froyo-based, and there is an unofficial, "stock" Froyo-based ROM floating around that I put on my Dad's Vibrant. He loves it, no issues so far.)
Final word (at this point): Highly recommend. I absolutely loved my Nexus One, as it was easily the best phone I've ever owned. However, this and the Nexus S (for the Google support the Nexus One enjoys) are clearly superior devices.

Question For Vibrant Owners...

I currently have a T-Mobile G1 and I have been thinking of an upgrade.
Have any of the current Vibrant owners come from a G1?
If so, are you happy with your new phone/glad you switched?
If you aren't a past G1 owner, I still value your input.

I lost my G1 a little over a week ago, and got a Vibrant as a replacement. So far I'm pretty happy. There are a few things to know though. First of all, no matter what anyone says to the contrary, the software keyboard is a poor substitution for a real hardware keyboard, and not a day goes by that I don't miss the keyboard on my G1. That said, I have found alternatives that work for me, but might not for everyone. I was a longtime Palm user, so the addition of a capacitive stylus and Graffiti for Android went a long way toward easing my lost keyboard anxiety. Also, the speech to text on the phone is surprisingly good, and once I found a program that optimized the speech to text workflow (Ultra Keyboard), that got me set so that between those two, I can get by without a hardware keyboard.
You should also know that the compass on the Vibrant is complete garbage compared to the G1. It is slow to update, inaccurate, and sometimes just freaks out and points in a direction that has absolutely nothing to do with where the phone is pointing. Some people also report poor GPS performance, though I haven't had this problem.
The bad stuff out of the way, it is SO MUCH faster than the G1! That, and I actually like some of the additions Samsung made to Android. I don't like how the whole thing looks so iPhoney, but it all works really well, and given the choice I wouldn't go back to a G1 from the Vibrant.

The compass and gps suck. There are various settings that help the gps, but we really need a driver update from samsung. Hopefully they will get on that soon and not make us wait for 2.2.
As for the keyboard, I like swype almost as much as a real keyboard. The voice input works good as well, but swype doesn't have the button for it for some reason. Hopefully they will add it soon.
Overall, it's a great phone and the speed and screen will blue you away coming from a g1.

I came from a G1. The phone is incredible, but the hardware/drivers have their rough edges, no doubt. I might have waited a little longer in hopes of the manufacturing becoming more consistent had I known of the issues before I bought, but when all is said and done I'm quite happy. Just not as happy as I could be.

I am really picky when it comes to this kinda stuff. Loved my g1 and thought twice about getting this phone for several reasons lyk 5mp camera when others offer more, not keyboard, forward facing camera and screen size but overall i gotta say i love this phone and wouldnt think twice about it. This phone performs amazingly and the screen is beautiful the battery is great for me atleast the gps is good no issues here and lastly the speed on the phone itself and online is crazy i love it. I couldnt be happier and it fills in the g1's shoes very nicely. I loved my g1 but i think i like this phone alot more.

Yes, I like this phone more than the G1. It was time for me to ditch the qwerty keyboard anyways and I don't like how it adds bulk to any type of phone. Plus, there are already plenty of accessories for the phone already since T-Mobile was smart enough to have the dimensions very similar to the original Galaxy S.

Many of us came from the G1 (contract about up, y'all?).
With Swype, I'm not at a huge loss for the hardware kb - the slide mechanism on the G1 was always a little scary to me, so I'm glad to be rid of that. hat being said, if the option was available, I'd've taken the SGS w/the kb.
I also dislike the iPhone rip-off part of Samsungs UI, but there are many benefits, too. The notification buttons are great & save homescreen space. Many other small things.
The biggest gripe is the GPS. IT IS TERRIBLE! It will literally lock up my phone after not locking onto the 12 satellites it can see. Buncha bull****.
But, all-in-all, the G1 was getting tired, so I'm glade to move on.

I was very hesitant about getting a phone with no physical keyboard. About a month before I bought my vibrant, I used just the virtual keyboard on the G1. I have to say, Swype is the best thing since slice bread for keyboard technology. I can actually "type" faster with Swype than I did with my G1. Like others, my only gripe about the vibrant is the gps issues. I don't use it daily but if Samsung doesn't fix this, they will never get my business again with ANY product. That said, I'm pretty sure they will fix this, it would be a PR disaster otherwise.

I'm running CM6 Froyo on my G1 and it can get very laggy.
I also don't want to go back to Sprint just to get an EVO...
My T-Mobile experience in Milwaukee has been a dream compared
to my Sprint experience...

Go to a store and play with one... you will immediately buy it. I cherish my G1 and refuse to sell it, but it is so... so... dwarfed by the Vibrant it is laughable.

The G1 is a plastic brick...
That's definitely a reason I decided to abandon the physical keyboard--it just adds so much bulk.

I think I will be purchasing one..
I would never sell my G1 either!
I will use it as a mini-netbook until it dies of natural causes (I still won't get rid of it).
It has a full keyboard, wifi, I paid for Docs2Go, so I have an office suite,
it has a camera, mp3 player, full web, etc...

My biggest fear was the loss of the keyboard as well. I do miss it at times (mainly games), but swype is very fast and it took all of a fe messages to start swyping as fast or faster than the keyboard. Its not the same thing, but it does a great job.
Gpa and compass... Well, you know by now. I'm confident it'll be fixed soon.
The screen is amazing, even in bright sunlight. Movies on the phone rock. And the speed is unbelievable. It's so worth the upgrade!
One other bonus... With the galaxy s being on every carrier, it had the best chance of many mods and released quickly once things get going.

You can't compare the two...not only different ballparks...different sports altogether. But even with that in mind, I STILL have my trusty G1 for when I'm feeling nostalgic . If you can, go for it. You'll like it.

i love my n1 but...

i love my n1 and would never sell it apart from maybe the rumoured n2 or a very decent android phone....but im really liking the look of the blackberry torch it looks well designed and smart

I listen to the Engadget podcast and they say the torch is really slow and laggy. They were commenting on how the commercials make it look really nice but it's nothing like that.
I personally like the idea of a portrait slider but think the torch looks kinda ridiculous. I like how the pre looks but it's probably too small.

I was tempeted by the dark side / hottie next door... an Hd2. Does pretty much the same thing for me as a Nexus except that Bing Maps Navigation (Microsofts version of free turn by turn directions) sucks compared to Google Maps Navigation. No 3d view, no alternative route options, doesnt mute the music while saying directions and instead talks while music is playing so its hard to hear directions, doesnt say directions if your in another app or if you turn off the screen.
Other than Google Maps Navigation the Hd2 can do everything my Nexus can and actually has two HUGE positives (and one minor one) for me that the Nexus does not:
Major
- Bluetooth keyboard support (HID devices not supported on N1)
- 4.3' crazy good screen
Minor
- 2nd LED for low light situations/better pictures
Hell I still might end up going with my Hd2. Or maybe just keep both? Not really sure yet I love both phones

Only thing I would want is a forward facing camera. Other than that, am sticking to the N 1.
And am definitely sticking to Android. After the Dash, Windows and me have decided to be just friends.

There is no but...
I can't see how you compare the n1 to the torch. Maybe to the g2 but not the torch. Dual core and upgraded screen is only way I replace my n1. There is not really a good n1 replacement at this moment. Well I guess depends no your taste. There are replacement but people seems to come back to n1.

hahaha no noooo way im not comparing it to the torch i just think they look quite nicely designed. And there's no way im leaving android, even if someone paid me to haha.
As i said i wouldnt get rid of the n1 apart from a n2, was looking at the desire hd but the lack of a trackball and oled screen put me off. Dev phones are so much better.
The power of these new tegra 2 cpus look ridiculously amazing. with all these rumors flying around i hope its still htc making the n2 not samsung.

I have the N1, iP4 and Torch. N1 is personal, iP4 is the wife's and the Torch is from work.
I want to trade Torch for an iP4 or DHD (well the DHD is a no brainer but not readily available)
The Torch doesn't compete with any of the other 'superphones'.
The balance is wrong when opened (feels like I'll drop it). The UI can't decide if its touch or not touch. The screen is too small. It sucks for apps. The apps it does have are over priced. It doesn't have an open space and dev community like XDA.
It sucks and I'm slowly moving my friends on to pingchat so that the last motivator, BBM can be tossed.

I would maybe let my N1 go for the mytouch 4G. have to wait for some reviews. I don't give so much for the looks. even though the mytouch is not ugly.
I like on the mytouch 4G: faster processor, HSPA+, FFC, slightly bigger screen but not a 4.3 monster. Hopefully a better touch sensor and better antenna. I don't care about OLED or SLCD. Dislike the Espresso UI but probably can live with that.

ever since i got my iPhone4 two weeks ago, my nexus one has been collecting dust. I'll probably sell it soon.

I love my N1. That being said. I'm thinking about the G2, once it's rooted of course. But I'll never get rid of the N1. I'd like to eventually start a collection. I want a G1, my N1, a G2, a Droid, and any other noteworthy android phones that come out in the future.

staying with N1 a little longer

I finally got my hands on a NS just a few minutes ago. Given, it was handcuffed to an alarm and a usb charger, and completely not fun to use this way. The camera.apk crashed several times. The market was less than responsive. I figured this was a badly beat up device, and am prolly right, being at a bestbuy store.
The thing is, when it was announced, I was going to buy, sight unseen. Then I read it was really a galaxy S with not much different, possible gps issues, etc - you've all heard this before.
Now, don't go crazy thinking I'm about to flaunt and rave about a wp7 device. No sir, not me. I'm a android nut to the bone. My Nexus One is just going to have to make do a little longer until the multi-core devices come out....
unless....
can someone motivate me as to why i might replace my N1 with a NS ? please, I'm -NOT- looking for a flamewar, or to bash any device. I think the S is badass, but just not badass enough to toss the N1 yet.
Convince me ? Flame me ? whatever, i want to hear why you switched from a N1.

There are plenty of threads about the device for you to make an informed decision. I suggest reading and deciding for yourself instead of creating another one of these threads.

I have a Nexus One.
I sold a G2 Friday.
Bought the Nexus S Saturday.
I found I didnt need a keyboard (I use Swype) and the G2 didnt seem to be
any faster than the N1.
I do like both the N1 and the NS.
The GPS/maps works fine on the NS, used it today.
I wouldnt pay $529 for an NS but if you are off contract its a great phone for $199.

My first impressiong of the NS was...."wtf is this ****" at best buy. It was tied up as well, and for whatever reason it wasn't turning on, felt cheap.
That was about a week ago. Today I headed out to best buy again, apparently the first time around there was no battery in it. I felt better about, and ended picking up for my papa dukes.
I've been ****ting on the NS all week after my first encounter. After using it for a few hours setting it up, holding it. It feels reall really nice in the hand. The N1 feels more "solid" but there's no form to it, it feels like holding a piece of aluminum stock down at the metal yard. The NS feels much more organic. The plastic allows it to feel warm.
Screen - Takes a huge **** on the N1 screen. The size combined with the extra saturation, it's no comparison. Touch screen in about 3 - 4 million times better than the N1. The screen wrapped with a black housing gives the phone a certain "presence" that makes the n1 seem feeble.
Software wise - stock android is trash, always has been. CM 6 runns much smoother than 2.3, no question abuot it.

4" SUPER AMOLED screen.
Game over.

I have a nexus one and I picked up the nexus s a couple of days ago.
The biggest difference for me is the fantastic screen. It's significantly better than the nexus one screen. That alone is worth the upgrade for me.
Speed wise, the nexus s isn't much faster than a nexus one running the aosp gingerbread roms, so I wouldn't buy a nexus s expecting it to be faster.

My reply will sound like everyone else's. This is a flagship phone, and it shows. Spec wise, its comparable to the N1. Experience wise, the N1 can't compare.
2.3 is very streamline. Its smooth. It flows. The 4" SAMOLED screen is incredible. The colors are vivid, the transitions are smooth, and its response is unmatched. Its so responsive, it sometimes presses the buttons before i do!
I have an N1 and I was a skeptic as well, until i turned it on and used it for a day. You simply cannot compare the two. Nexus S all day.

This is really all you need to know. I also came from an N1 and loved the amoled screen on there; to put it simply, the Samoled screen on the NS makes the N1 screen look like ****. I didn't think it could really be all that much better but it really is, also the touch sensor and oleophobic coating are fantastic.
I showed my 5 coworkers, who all have iphone4's, my NS yesterday and they all said the exact same thing "that screen is gorgeous."

No LED notification light, and no trackpad/trackball. These are two major sell points for me. So much so I may end up with a MyTouch 4G

if i have anything from N1, Desire, Desire HD, Galaxy S, i wouldnt trade or sell it for Nexsus S.
not that NS isnt better than N1 or Desire, its just FOR ME, the LG star "optimus 2x " or whatever its going to be called coming by Feb . thats like 2 months only from now. duel core processor with Tegra 2 from Nvidia gpu for assuming gpu performance. and on top of that a super amoled screen as well as 8M camera " i think ? so it doesn't make sense for me to spend an X ammount TODAY on an adroid phone when a new much better one coming in like exactly 2 months.
NOW, the NS is a developers phone. what does that mean for you that all developers will be baising their games on the Nexus S. thats the standard. for gaming. it will be on Nexus S. much like how games standards was Nexus 1. what does that mean to you is until the next developers phone comes out, ALL the new games for example or apps will run as defult on NS.
that not to say it wont run better on Tegra 2 in the LG phone for example, just like how games runs better on Galaxy S over the Nexus 1.
i think you should stick with your Nexus 1 as well.

No LED notification light? No problem. NoLED turns on the screen and displays an icon depending on what kind of notification you have (new e-mail, new text, etc). Since it's SAMOLED, the black uses little to no power so it isn't a battery drain.
No trackpad/touchball? I barely used mine on my G1. I don't miss it on my Verizon Fascinate either. Not sure why people want that so badly that it influences their decision on getting a phone or not...

This was my same thought when I picked up the NS, I needed to have a notification light and thankfully the NoLed app makes the lack of trackball notifications irrelevant now. NoLed works great and looks awesome too and doesn't have any noticeable affect on battery.

To the OP, I will probably be returning the Nexus S before the 30 day return policy is up and sticking with the Nexus One as well.
Benefits of Nexus S:
1. SuperAMOLED (Soooo beautiful... 1 of 2 things that kills the Nexus One for me)
2. 4' screen (Personal opinion but I actually like the compactness of the Nexus One's design... I know I'm weird)
3. NFC (Not around yet, wont be for awhile)
4. True multitouch for gaming (I use a wiimote to play emulators so I don't care about multitouch gaming)
5. Better Speaker (I don't blast music through my phones speaker. If Im at home I use my computer, if I'm in the car I use the car speakers, if Im out an about I'll use some earphones)
6. Android updates developed w/ Nexus S in mind(Long as the N1 gets updates as well I'm ok w/ sharing the love)
7. Hummingbird processor (I don't notice any lag on my stock Nexus One)
8. More app storage space (I always keep my Nexus One at 75-80% free)
9. Battery life (2nd thing that kills the Nexus One... but I have a spare battery so my N1 lasts all day)
These are some great benefits for 90% of people to be worth upgrading for. Just that I'm one of the weird 10%
Another option I've been thinking of is actually getting the Samsung Galaxy Tablet to completely replace my Nexus One (with 3g enabled skype app) and Netbook (with a bluetooth keyboard) for $40/mo with T-mobile this doesn't seem like a terrible idea if I find a cool looking European shoulder bag that I wouldn't mind taking with me everywhere to have the tablet with me at all times like a phone

I had to sell my N1 as I couldnt stand the touchscreen going mental from time to time

cool, and thanks to all the others that replied. i like the list approach, it's how i usually do stuff....
i didn't get to try out the speaker, there was crap super glued to the phone @ the store. :-(
the screen was very very very bright and impressive. almost a G1 to N1 comparison side by side.
thankfully, folks didn't label me as trolling and have seen a similar take before. i think i'll stick with the n1 a little longer given the points in this thread. maybe february i'll buy, or maybe i'll find a NS on craigslist for 1/2 price, who knows. i'm pretty partial to my N1 for now.

The N1 had so much potential, but the user experience was greatly impacted (negatively) by the wonky touchscreen behavior (imho). It was also unusable outdoors, here in sunny southern CA.

Trialing the Sensation...Think I'll keep my N1!

Picked one up Saturday at Wal Mart knowing I'll have 14 days without penalty to see if it knocks my socks off...
Guess what? It's Tuesday, and I'm back using my N1.
Ya, the Sensation has some nice eye candy and naturally evolved features built in that currently require 3rd party apps on the N1, but it just didn't have that "Wow" factor for me.
Makes me proud to have a Sexy Nexy. It may be rare (I've yet to see another), a few years old and not as big as some of the others, but she's still got life, my friends!
The encouraging part for me, is the fact, I've yet to have the balls too root. So there's still a lot to look forward too for me.
You know what I'm gonna miss most about the Sensation? IT'S GOT TEETER!!haha, I'm serious. I love that little game.

wow if you returned to the n1, and on top of that you have not even rooted your n1, then wait till you actually root this thing! it becomes an entirely new device with a good ROM on it.

I just sold my MT4G after getting it to replace my semi-broken N1. Back to using the N1
I sold it because I wanted to get the Sensation, but now I'm not so sure after reading this thread and others in the MT4G and Sensation forums.
What to do? I cant rotate my screen or use camera with my broken proximity sensor, camera and led. so i am hurting and would like a new phone.

I tried replacing my N1 a few times before (MT4G, G2x) but they didn't quite cut it. The Mt4G just wasn't... better enough. I went through multiple G2x and none of them worked right.
I grabbed the Sensation and I am entirely happy with it. No issues so far after 2 weeks, and it does everything my N1 could do and more. Minus rooted things, which I do really miss. If I could just get SetCPU on the Sensation like my N1 I'm sure I'd have amazing battery life.

I had the Sensation for about a week, but just returned it today. Each device had one minor issue, which was just enough for me to go back to the Nexus. The performance increase wasn't really there, either, though I'm sure once they have root that'll be fixed.

I was on the Atrix but now I'm back to the Nexus One. I love this phone and the trackball. Nothing else seems to cut it. It's like a bad drug habit. Can't seem to let it go. Lol

Same here, I wiped my atrix and it boot looped. Unfortunately I don't have a PC and couldn't sbf flash. I'm gonna sell it as soon as soon the n3 comes out. Nexus for life

No, no external contacts, but it does automatically go into a dock mode in the car dock, from what I've heard. People have said it responds to magnets, but I haven't experienced it personally. I haven't picked up a car dock yet cause I really can't find a good place in my car to put it. Same issue I had with my N1's dock, lol.

I have a G2x and love it. Running CM7.1 RC1 which was basically the same as what I was running on the Nexus One. The G2x does have some software bugs but CM7 fixed most of those.
Would I go back? Tough choice. I LOVED my N1. If I lost or killed my G2x and someone gave me a N1, I would use it without question and it would probably subdue me for a while.
The G2x is a pretty good upgrade from the N1. Tegra games are amazing and the touchscreen recognizes 10 inputs.
The trackball is missed when correcting typing but CM has a kernel based hack to light up our touch buttons for notifications.
I can see, using CM7 on N1 to CM7 on G2x, that the upgrade may seem dismal. I do, however, use the HDMI out and bluetooth gamepad for gaming.
If gaming isn't your thing then the Nexus One is still perfect.

Everyone who is returning the Sensation seems to not be giving any real tangible reasons for doing so. The OP lists not getting "wow'ed", but obviously that will always be subjective from person to person. downey_ryan had three devices each with a "minor issue" but won't list what they were.
For those of you downing on the Sensation, I challenge you to find some tangible reasons why the N1 is better than the Sensation. I'm not saying none exist; I just want to discuss them, rather than a "I hate the Sensation but won't say why" thread.
Anyway, a week and a half ago I sold my N1 and picked up a Sensation from Amazon. And you can tell by my signature, that this was NOT an easy decision! I've been a member of the XDA N1 community for quite some time
All throughout this time I have been absolutely dying for a larger screened phone (the Sensation is T-Mobile's first 4.3" Android), and the jump from 3.7" to 4.3" is already a HUGE enough reason for me to make the switch.
With the N1 having a larger bezel due to the trackball and HTC really minimizing the bezel on the Sensation, the total difference in pocketable device size is minimal. And compared to the benefit of such a larger screen, it is amazing. I can actually read a lot of text comfortably, and certain apps display a lot more content at once due to the qHD screen.
And this is not to mention the Sensation is even thinner than the N1 anyway. It's so thin and light that my coworker held it and said "You should put a case on it to protect it", and I already have a case on it (This one if anyone's interested.)
As I said, the screen size (and thinness, and lightness) is already a big enough reason but the lack of a trackball is actually quite nice. I thought I would miss it more, but the lack of a trackball makes the phone look sleeker, and makes it easier to put a screen protector on it to protect the entire face of the phone, buttons and all. Selecting text without a trackball is a bit more difficult, but the combination of Gingerbread's text selection tool and the qHD screen make it a non-issue. (And trackballs are a thing of the past anyway. Not a single new Android phone coming out has one, so it's best to used get used to not having one anyway.)
I admittedly missed trackball LED notifications for a few days. But then installed NoLED and instantly forgot all about them. It's much better because it displays notifications using the entire screen, which is more noticeable from far away (can configure to turn off via proximity sensor when in pockets etc to save battery), as well as repeated vibration/audio reminders (extremely helpful). If I had to switch back to the N1, I'd still use NoLED in a heartbeat.
Another huge issue is fixed as well, and that is that I can finally use multitouch everywhere without having the axes get flipped and sticking. And not to mention I can finally play all the games I couldn't play on my N1 with the much-increased processing power.
Sense 3.0 is very beautiful. Every person I've shown my phone to is instantly in awe in the first 5 seconds in just unlocking the screen, with the bouncing circle unlock and the carousel homescreen animations. I've had no issues at all so far with Sense, and I'm loving the Sense widgets, namely the photo album widget. I purchased LauncherPro Plus a long time ago, but I actually like Sense better so I have not yet had the need to use LP+ even though I paid money for it.
Speaking of paying, I sold my N1 for $200 (after the buyer's downward haggling) on Craigslist and bought the Sensation on wireless.amazon.com for $179, no tax, free shipping. So the cost was a no-brainer -- I actually made money
I would encourage everyone to make the switch. You would be surprised how fast the N1 sells on Craigslist. I literally posted in the morning, found a buyer hours later, and sold it right after work the same day. It's still a great device, and I probably could have gotten more for it (the buyer haggled down), but since I already profited from the switch and it sold so ridiculously fast, I didn't care too much.
Anyway, all in all, I am extremely satisfied with my upgrade. When the Hercules is finally announced (if ever!), I'll check into it , but for now I love my Sensation and the N1 before it. The funny thing is that I had a G1 before that. All three are HTC devices, so I guess no matter what device you pick, HTC has been good to me

1.5 years old and still keeping up with the big boys.

It'll be a while before anything really impresses us again. The fact is, the Nexus One was a well-thought-out device and includes most all of the features one needs in a very practical and elegant package. I don't want a bigger phone or another cpu core. 4G would have been enticing if the carriers didn't start capping the data plans and NFC will hopefully become accepted and I can quit carrying a wallet around, but until then I'm in love with this device.
One last thing, even with everything Google & HTC put into this phone, it wouldn't be half as great without the wonderful support from the community. Thanks guys!

I love my N1. I have a Defy, and a Desire HD also, but keep going back to the N1. Just the overall use, feel, and sexyness of it makes me want to use it. Plus it has the best call quality I have ever used. I like the Sensation's look/features. Reminds me of a bigger brother to the N1, but I just can't pull the trigger. My N1 does everything I need it to do, and I'm sure it can do a lot more, so no reason to stop using it. If anyone is looking for a new one here are some places to get one. All are T-Mo bands. The ebay ones are cheaper by a lot, but welectronics is a safe reliable place to buy. All are new in box. I bought an extra just to have. For $260 it's cheaper than my original insurance with $150 deductible and $10 a month payments over the life of the phone.
