Any imap options out there or anything else to keep it in sync? Only seem to find pop3 options.

Have you tried the default settings for a @hotmail account? I have an @aol account set up and that's IMAP and it seems to work okay.

Apparently from every article I can find Hotmail for some reason doesn't support IMAP. So I was hoping there was another way, so looks like the above is it.

I understand that you can sync your Outlook Email account sent emails but not your other POP3 accounts. Is there any fix or program that would allow you to do this?

As far as I know, nope. However, you can
1, auto (B)CC yourself so that you also receive your sent stuff
2, use IMAP instead if you have IMAP access (IMAP stores sent mail on the server)
Please see my mailing-related articles; I've elaborated on both these q's qite extensively.
Ok. Thanks

What type of email client is it?.... and be more precise... does it delete on the phone, but not on the computer or website? If so, that's how IMAP clients are. Hotmail is an example of this.
If you're having the emails just not delete, that's weird and no, I haent experienced it

Hotmail is POP not IMAP.
Forgive My Brevity. To Be Or Not To Be...
Same here
Noticed this last night. I get an error saying "sync is currently experiencing problems it will be back shortly.
How can I get my Hotmail calendar to sync with my shift? I use the Exchange ActiveSync account on my phone for my work email, but as a family we use Hotmail for our calendar. Any suggestions?
Not sure. If you search Microsofts site, it appears no direct syncing is supported. A workaround would be to link the calendar to your Google account so you can at least view it on your phone. Perhaps wait til WP7 hits Sprint?
Or move the family to Google. O_O

Tried exporting Hotmail calendar, but could not. Thus I could not import into Google calendar. Wife is not a fan of Google, so not so easy
I've never used exchange, but this says hotmail started using that and it will sync calendar/contacts/email... dunno if it is true, but worth a shot.

Switch the family to google, you will be happier in the end.

Yeah, almost all Android email problems can be fixed by switching to Gmail.

Looked at that link, but the phone will only allow one exchange activesync account which I need for my work email
Does this help? http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=1237b8532c40be62&hl=en
Success, thanks Stuke00
Hi,
While my iphone picks up email as and when they arrive, the gs3 doesnt have a Premium account service like the s2 had and one has to set the email frequency for it to check email manually.
The built in email app does not offer push on yahoo mail and corporate email on exchange.
It also doesn't set up corporate exchange accounts using google apps.
It only supports push for @gmail.com (not corporate gmail accounts using @ whatever.com using m.google.com as the server) and @hotmail.com accounts supports push on the native email app
This should happen automatically for each account like it does on the iphone, windows mobile and HTC.
cool story...now what?
Can anybody else confirm the OP? I'm waiting on a blue S3 to show up, I haven't yet taken the plunge. No Push-mail is a big bummer...
Of course it doesn't check your email if you set it to "never" - that is what never means...
And for push you need to use exchange not IMAP...

I disagree, the s3 should have a feature called push or fetch, when u ask it to check email every 5 minutes that means it is being done manually not automatically this is not how the iphone or windows phone works, on imap on an iphone it downlads the email once the server receives it that is called push on. Windows phone it downloads it as and when email arrives. What you re talking about it a setting where u ask it to check the email every 5 or 10 minutes that is not push. This eats battery like hell. On the sg2 u could set a permium account and it had push email but sadly the s3 doesnt have push email, yes i know about exchange but without exchange also it should push email which it doesnt so thats ane pic fail for the s3.
What mail service are you all using? Push works fine for gmail, hotmail and any other corporate account.
Wait a bit for the next update, maybe it's included there.
Also pls change the thread name, because no push isn't true, it should be no push at imap.

K-9 is my preferred email client, solves the problem.

Samsung added the premium email service on the s2 which had true push email on imap. Thye havent added that on the s3 I wonder why.
I am going to have to sell this phone as it is useless for me.
The first few days i missed receiving some important emails on time and I had to manually refresh the emails and got them 6 hours late.
Epic fail Samsung, you have gone backwards!

Gmail, and ur corporate account should be set using active sync instead of IMAP. Or just use the native gmail app, coz that allows for labels and the all important bacon filter priority inbox.
Yahoo mail has its own app so u can download that

which account are u using??? push works perfectly for gmail/hotmial/corporate accounts for me..incase u see issues with gmail, configure it as exchange server with domain as 'm.google.com'. push gets enabled
Let me get this straight...
OP sets email refresh to "never", complains when no emails arrive.
Do i need to say anything else?

No No No... iPhone doesn't have the "real" push mail like BBs do. And in my case, my S3 notifies me about the mail as soon as it arrives
Hi folks,
Hopefully will have my nexus 7 soon - am i right in assuming i can activate it using the same gmail address i have on my phone? If so.. i dont really want my emails coming to the 7 as the tablet is probably going to be for family use.. can you just delete the gmail or or remove the email account or something? I suppose I could always just set up a new gmail address and use that.
Thanks,
Michael
Just set it up not to refresh automatically. Easy-peasy
You can tell it not to sync gmail under "accounts and sync" in settings.

Sync, that's what I meant... why did I say refresh?!? But yeah, just turn off the sync and you are set.
Try freezeing or disabling the gmail app from the apps list or root it and uninstall gmail app
