Replaced Screen - No Joy - HD2 General

OK ordered a replacement screen with digitizer, despite only my digitizer being cracked (surprisingly everything still worked even touching in the damaged half of the screen) as I had read it was far easier to replace the whole screen.
Well I can tell you its still not that easy. After a slow struggle I did manage to swap the screens over, but alas no joy. The phone is probably starting up as there is the usual vibration after release of the power button. The screen backlight is on, but no display.
So now I come to the questions I probably should have asked up front, before ordering.
Are there different models of the screen ie different generations of HD2 have different screens? Is there a way to tell which one the old and new one are? I note that the YouTube video of a screen being replaced shows slightly different internals to mine, thus my suspicions regarding variations of screen.
Lastly would the Telstra Phone version have a different screen from the universal version of the same era?
I will pull it apart again this evening and see if I can see any obvious differences (or install errors) but if there is anyone with knowledge that can guide me as to whether I have the wrong version screen I would be grateful.
Cheers.

Continued
Opening up everything again shows both screens have the same HTC part number: 60H00295-DOP and similar serial numbers. So I reinstalled the old display - no change - a blank screen. Checked over all the connectors, ribbon cables, etc all look correct. So reassembled with the new display and performed a Hard Reset. This occurs as expected though with no display. All the buttons work and I hear a peep as the volume is raised up and down. The soft reset button causes the usual restart effect. I also note that back light comes on, stays on for 30 secs, then dims then turns off 30 sec later. I can even tell that the touch part is working as I can feel small vibrations to each touch and if I'm in the volume set screen and I touch where vibrate is I get the usual vibration confirming it has changed to vibrate mode.
It would appear that in the process of changing the display I have damaged the display driver chip or something along those lines as the other processes above tend to indicate the processor is still working and reading button presses, making sounds etc....very sad.

Is this the forum for repair advice? Digitiser recalibration

I dropped my phone and the screen now doesnt respond properly: The hardware DID successfully upgrade to the XDA ROM. But touching it causes the backlight to go on, - but most of the keys dont do what one would expect them to do: The phone turns on with a reminder from the calendar on the screen which wont DISMISS or CLOSE. Pressing on the windows logo and then on the phone key causes the calendar to come up and I am not sure which numbers are entered when I do manage to get the phone to come onto the screen (none of the right hand numbers seem to work at all). Does anyone recognise these symptoms and/or could they just show that my SX-56 needs the ROM RE-flashing? I should add that pressing the Master Reset button with this ROM in place seems to make the phone shut off and then when you restart it, all of the data remains in place. I wonder if there is any possibility that the XDA ROM has prevented the reset button from working normally?
A user on another forum said that to him, '"Sounds like the digitiser is up the swanee - have you tried recalibrating it?"
10-12 vertical black lines started appearing to the right hand edge of the screen. Sometimes they are there, sometimes not. THere is usually at last one there somewhere. At about that time the screen stopped responding as I mention. Today the left third started displaying the same veritcal lines, though spaced quite far apart (about a millimetre). Screen doesn't APPEAR cracked: Does this sound like a digitiser and if so, how do you recalibrate it please or is there a link to somewhere on the XDA site which I cant find which might tell me? Or could it be the cable is loose in the circuit board? As you touch the lower right hand corner of the metal casing where the vertical lines are, those lines flash (the right 10 or 12) on and off. And every coloured bar everywhere on the screen or word of text has vertical lines on it (the white parts don't)??
Someone on ebay has said that his phone "fell from my pocket and onto the carpet and the screen cracked, I then used it for about a week" "I sold the screen to someone cause the wanted the touch pad part of the screen for there phone". and wonder what it was he sold or which part can be replaced on it? IS there a touch part and a screen part on this phone?
To be honest, itsounds like you have brocken a connection somewhere between the LCD and the gfx output, probably not possible to repair yourself.
I wonder where the break would be?
I thought that might be the case: I wonder if it would be worthwhile trying to get another screen?
I should probably try to take the unit apart and see if some break somewhere can be identified if it is a break as opposed to some electonic part having failed. It SEEMS to be in the lower right hand corner?

Vogue replacement screen functions intermidantly

I am currently in discussions with the screen's vendor about the issue, but I figure somebody might have some advice to offer here too. I purchased a replacement screen for my Vogue after I cracked the factory LCD. Touch membrane was fine.
Opened the phone, pulled out the old LCD, replaced with new one, etc. At first, the "new" screen seemed to not power on at all - then after several cycles of open phone/test connections with old LCD/rebuild with new LCD I finally got the backlight on, yet the display itself seems to not be working. There is an ever so slight greenish glow in the bottom left corner of the replacement screen when the backlight was on.
Several hours later, during which time the phone just sat on my desk idle (but on) I hit the power button to turn on the screen and was dismayed that the backlight did not come on (simmilarly to how it was originally.) I am certain the phone was assembled correctly, all connections are secure, etc.
The vendor suggested adjusting brightness/contrast settings, which I skeptically tried to no avail with MyMobiler. So at this point, the backlight seems to work when it wants to and the display seems to not work well at all.
Has anyone else seen anything like this?

White screen all the time. What should I buy?

Hello,
for first I've already read some topic covering the white screen problem. I have the white screen every time on my Hermes since booted. Going into bootloader also shows white screen. I don't see any signs of misalignment.
I've already taken apart my Hermes and reconnected all connectors I've seen, including D-Pad connector, tightening and loosening the screws by it. I see there's nothing else I can fix without replacing any parts (or am I wrong?) What should I buy? Do you think that the actual screen may be faulty? Or maybe the flex is damaged and I should buy it? (well I think that some chip is connected to flex so I don't know if it can be replaced anyway). My main question is: if the screen is all white, is it possible that the actual screen be faulty?
It could be a number of things which could amount to $$$$ by throwing parts at the phone - may be cheaper to just buy another. Before the completely all white screen did you have occasional white screens with increasing frequency? First try some of the fixes for correcting whitescreens - pressure on the dpad - etc. If you still get nothing the chip could have come loose - but who knows?!!!! Need some more information - history etc.
Unfortunately don't know the history... bought cheap off ebay hoping it can be easily fixed already ordered the screen, if no luck, will send as spares/repair in my country - should earn something anyway.
i have a fault with mine some times (well a lot now) when i open it or close it all the way i get a funny fuzzing on the screen and some times it just ends up going black, move it back and forth a bit and the screen collour is inverted. i have to press the power button twice once for off then back on and it stays normal collours till u move the screen again. is this called white screen?
Not really - yours should be an easy fix. Seems like the flex cable is either loose or cracked slightly. It only occurs when you slide the keyboard out right? Any problems with the front keypad - with the unit closed?

G4 Digitizer problem?

I have a Moto G4 that has had the touch screen become very erratic lately. This issue appeared shortly after a factory reset. The phone is stock, recently OTA updated to NPJ25.93-14.7. It frequently freezes and won't respond to touches of apps or the home/back/recent buttons, and won't side scroll to the next screens properly. Sometimes random apps launch on their own without any touch, and if you try to quit them with the back button they keep relaunching. The problem is intermittent.
I activated "Show Taps" in Developer Options and when the problem is happening there is a tap dot near the lower right side of the screen. It bounces up and down a little bit and vibrates sometimes. When this dot is visible tapping on anything else like app icons or buttons usually has no effect, however the taps are shown on the screen. If I hit the power button to make the screen go black it will sometimes recover when I reopen the display, other times it takes a reboot.
Wondering if it's a hardware issue, a guy at a Verizon store who seemed to know more than most said it was a faulty digitzer--it's seeing touches where there are none. I've replaced displays successfully before, would just like to have a confidence level that the digitzer is really bad before doing that, as opposed to a software or other hardware issue. Any ideas about problems that might cause this problem, like other hardware or a corrupted OTA? Seems very hardware-ish to me, but I'm no expert.
I have Drive links to a couple of short videos on the symptoms, can send links. Much appreciate any insights.
Mine has that issue as well. It will spam the 9 key on the unlock screen or anything in that spot if an app is open or what is on that spot at the home screen. I have to double unlock the phone to fix it. I guess turning the screen on and back off resets it for that session. But it's mostly every time the screen goes dark and comes back up I have to turn the screen off and back on to use the phone.
I had a similar problem and was able to send it in under warranty and get a replacement phone
G4 Digitizer or ghost touch
Apparently this is called Ghost Touch issue, and affects many phones. One solution tried is to disable Battery Optimization for System UI and Google Now Launcher in Settings>Battery>Battery Optimization. That seemed to cure it for a week or so, but the problem returned today. I can sometimes recover form it by hitting the power button to blank the screen and then reopen. Other times it requires a reboot. I see all kinds of alleged solutions out there from dimming the brightness to removing tempered glass protector to using a slow charger, but those don't seem like real fixes but workarounds (if they even work at all). Any other ideas?

Pixel 4 display working but no touch

Hello everybody,
I have a accidentally cracked Pixel 4. The Display cracks after it falls from around one meter height. I decided to fix the screen and buy a new one. It seems to be not an original Bit the board of the new and the old screen seems to be exactly the same. I opened the phone and replace the screen without any damage. After the screen was inserted I test it if it woks. Success! Everything works (I not tested the touch Funktion yet) after I build most of the things together I give it another try and I recognized that the touch Funktion does not work. No matter how hard I press or hold the connector down etc. I tried many things also a Hard Reset. I never seen such problem before. And my question is: is this the screen, the phone or a software problem? And how I can fix this issue? I am completely confused because I fixed many phones but something like this is new. Regularly the complete Amoled does not work.
If I go to the left upper corner, there is some movement in the screen and this also stays if I release my finger (video).
