I know this problem has not been resolved yet. However I read that if you boot android when the keypad lcds are off, they will stay off. That is my problem. Im unable to boot android when they are off because they stay on for the duration my screen is lit, in other words, they only turn off when my screen turns dark. To wake the device up I must press the buttons which turns them on again. How did you guys work around this?
the keypad backlight is only on for about 10 seconds...
if this isnt the case you have installed a little tool that it hangs together with the lcd backlight...
my keypad lights don't turn off at all for some weird reason..
also my orange led at the top stays on always..

are you using the latest zimage?

You should try to look in the startup folder of windows. It might have keypadledcontrol.exe which makes it "keep on" while the display is on. Just remove it from ur startup list and you are done. now the keypad will turnoff after 10 sec (by default - configurable through registry).
I hope it sorts your problem out.
Kinda a bizzare problem with no fix in sight... Here is how it started:
Last night I was reading texts right before bed. The screen was too bright for the dimly lit room, so I opened up the brightness widget to turn it down and accidently hit 0% with my knuckle ...and before I could press another value/button, screen faded down to black and I couldn't see anything. I could tell it was still on tho, because I could put to sleep, hit power key and swipe L to R blindly on the black screen and feel the vibrate when I "found" the unlock slider (Froyo 2.2)
Now I have hard reset phone and deleted everything I could find associated with Android. I recopied the Android folder to SD and booted. Everything appeared fine till after setting up gmail account, then went right back to blackness like before!
Is there a cache/file that retains these kind of settings? Reg value? I am new to this (WM and Android...HD2 my first phone of this caliber) and would GREATLY appreciate any help or ideas.
Thanks guys
EDIT: So I skipped past setting up gmail, got to home screen and the fade began, but I managed to hit the middle button before it went totally black, and that brought up the app cube, and also kept the screen on! Manually set brightness and I'm in business now! Beware to others about hitting that 0% button! Its a pain...
MODS: Please delete this thread...
hey i downloaded extended control power widget. and when i pressed the brightness button. the screen went black and touch doesnt seem to respond (tried tapping the same place to bring it back...)
the phone is still awake as i can hear lock sounds and such. but i cant get brightness back up at all.
is there a way to fix this? i would assume adb or something
or possibly a script i could load on reboot into android?
Try holding your phone under a very bright light and play a little with the angle. You should see your widgets. This fixed it for me
Try this:

thanks, that worked. it at first seemed as though the touch wasnt responding.
but it seems i accidentally moved the widget in my frustration LOL so i was hitting a blank spot.
My D802 International just stopped working
I'm on stock 4.4.2 rooted with ioroot
I left it to charge for a few hours and when i got back phone wouldnt turn on. LED lights seem to blink in the same pattern that occurs when turning the phone on when I hold the power button. But otherwise I have no response from the screen, rendering the phone useless
Another weird thing is when i plug the phone into my laptop, it gets detected but when I try to check out the files on explorer the only folders that show up are my pictures/DCIM folder. No system files or anything
I'd appreciate any advice
so i just replaced my samsung galaxy s4’s digitizer, the phone truns on, the screen works but will not let me unlock the phone, its clearly working thp since theres a clock displaying time thats accurate, showing me battery level and the date, but i cannot do anything from this point on, no unlock bar or anything, ive tried a hard and soft reset as well as sbf’ing it back to stock with the same issue arising, im about to buy a new motherboard for it soon unless someone knows how to fix these issues. Thanks for any help in advance, Ty w
any ideas?
Does your touchscreen even work? If not, then you probably got a faulty one.
yep

yes, boot logo plays just fine, cycles through the att logo screen, then goes to the lock display, heres a pic of the lock screen that displays atm, it tells me the date, time, battery level, and notification bar, and thats it, theres no response from touch input, menu and back button work just fine, as well as the power button

Ohh, but that's not the lockscreen.
That's the S-view cover screen.
@DeepankarS knows more about how to solve it.

@Lennyz1988 thank you
@sikboarder Try removing the L1 screw and starting the phone again. Or keep a magnet near you, when this appears, touch the magnet (not a strong one) neat the volume keys and remove it. When this disappears, force stop sec.android.sviewcover from the application manager.
Still if it does not help, try an AOSP rom. Touchwiz has this stupid bug.
