We have finally been relegated....
sad, but still neat to know that there is still awesome active development going on.
Been wondering when this was going to happen. Thought it would have happened long ago imho.
Ouch... I think the Legend is next then...
And to think, the G1 still has its own forum =o
problem is that I can't find our forum on the XDA app any longer. Anyone know how to find it?
Cool.. now its just a few more mouse clicks to get to this forum. Development will never stop!
Very sad...how can a device 1) less than 2 years old, and 2) Sprint's still selling, be considered a legacy device?
Gotta be honest....felling a bit betrayed. I love my Hero, but it looks like everyone's just leaving it behind (I get it, the technology's moving forward fast, but still...).
Oh well, I suppose I'll try out GB then wait for December when I can upgrade...
Much love Hero owners (echos in the hall getting emptier)
Thanks to Aosp we were pretty much in the first elite few on Android 2.3.2 Oh the irony I've got a long ways to go before I upgrade, I'm loving this phone too much.

not only are they still selling it, but they're still selling it at nearly the same cost as when it launched. with my upgrade discount, i could get a shift or a hero for the same price right now.
How do you get to hero forums on xda app now? I have them favorited, but I looked for a friend, and can't figure it out...

I have spent like an hour trying to find this forum in the xda app. I have tried looking for it by name and category with no luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still no forum. There is no legacy devices or hero cdma.

Just favorite the forum in a browser, open the XDA app, there ya go.
Wow, my Hero doesn't feel that old...thanks to xda!
Well, this is pure crap...why does the G1 still get a dedicated forum in the non-legacy section?
That's bull****...yeah I know our phone is old, but the oldest Android phone isn't even on here....
WHAT
THE
HELL???
Also, can't find us on the xda app anymore, guess I'll have to un-install...
Yeah, you would think they would put a section that will lead to our new location in the XDA app. I almost spend an hour looking through the app until I found the announcement in the Hero G1 section.
*sigh* A ''Legacy Template'' section on the app would be nice. Now off to the browser so I can favorite our forum.
I would love to know how to "favorite" a forum from a browser and it show up in the app for me. The only "sync" that occurs between my app and a browser is with topic subscriptions, but never with forum subscriptions.

Here is the admin that posted the announcement:

Send him a PM. Be nice, remind him that not only is Sprint still selling the hero, they sell it for MORE than the evo shift.
Unless our forums just don't get as much traffic as the G1, or other old phones... I don't get it.
Its sad considering the Hero and the Droid Eris still have their own dedicated forum and even four older devices still have their own forum.
The Nexus S I saw at Best Buy was running 2.3.1, my Eris runs 2.3.2.
What are the best sites for getting rom lists and other hacks besides XDA???

Google forum mobilism. They got all kinds of apps. I check this site everyday and they update regularly

good news.. you found it.
Cool
rocking the **** out of cm7
It don't get better than this. 95% of outside sites will either link you back here or have originated here anyway.
I like goodandevo.net. Not too much rom stuff, but everything else.

Does anyone know why there had been such a dearth of pen-testing apps out for the android? (or am I just in the dark ). Wireshark is nice, but I would think given the future of mobile, and security concerns always on the rise, Android makes a great platform to run countless apps to sniff, manipulate js, xss even.
I mean I would think there would be a scaled down version of metasploit out by now.

Not too many hackers here maybe... Oh well....I might go bother the devs for an opinion if they have one.

This isn't a needless bump... I actually found some interesting apps -- for those who take a fancy to the dark arts.... check out this link:
http://www.pentestit.com/tag/debdroid/
I originally found the site (the domain) in an XDA portal post from late February.
It's pretty cool... you can grab a lot of different data if you want.....
any update on what you found ?
There are some packages with metasploit, you can run a backtrack 5...etc.

And it's FREE!
I generally just use google. It feels more and more apps are just for the sake of having an app for something

Meh, it's alright, but it ain't the OED.
MW works offline. Google doesn't. That's a big selling point for some of us in areas without awesome reception.
By the way, deaffob, posts about apps go in the Themes and Apps forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=722).
Now us root users can watch market videos. All credit to dev not me
