Well it's official, The Hero is now a Legacy Device - Hero CDMA General

We have finally been relegated....
sad, but still neat to know that there is still awesome active development going on.

Been wondering when this was going to happen. Thought it would have happened long ago imho.

Ouch... I think the Legend is next then...

And to think, the G1 still has its own forum =o

problem is that I can't find our forum on the XDA app any longer. Anyone know how to find it?

Cool.. now its just a few more mouse clicks to get to this forum. Development will never stop!

Very sad...how can a device 1) less than 2 years old, and 2) Sprint's still selling, be considered a legacy device?
Gotta be honest....felling a bit betrayed. I love my Hero, but it looks like everyone's just leaving it behind (I get it, the technology's moving forward fast, but still...).
Oh well, I suppose I'll try out GB then wait for December when I can upgrade...
Much love Hero owners (echos in the hall getting emptier)

Thanks to Aosp we were pretty much in the first elite few on Android 2.3.2 Oh the irony I've got a long ways to go before I upgrade, I'm loving this phone too much.

not only are they still selling it, but they're still selling it at nearly the same cost as when it launched. with my upgrade discount, i could get a shift or a hero for the same price right now.

How do you get to hero forums on xda app now? I have them favorited, but I looked for a friend, and can't figure it out...

I have spent like an hour trying to find this forum in the xda app. I have tried looking for it by name and category with no luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still no forum. There is no legacy devices or hero cdma.

Just favorite the forum in a browser, open the XDA app, there ya go.

Wow, my Hero doesn't feel that old...thanks to xda!

Well, this is pure crap...why does the G1 still get a dedicated forum in the non-legacy section?
That's bull****...yeah I know our phone is old, but the oldest Android phone isn't even on here....
WHAT
THE
HELL???
Also, can't find us on the xda app anymore, guess I'll have to un-install...

Yeah, you would think they would put a section that will lead to our new location in the XDA app. I almost spend an hour looking through the app until I found the announcement in the Hero G1 section.
*sigh* A ''Legacy Template'' section on the app would be nice. Now off to the browser so I can favorite our forum.

I would love to know how to "favorite" a forum from a browser and it show up in the app for me. The only "sync" that occurs between my app and a browser is with topic subscriptions, but never with forum subscriptions.

Here is the admin that posted the announcement:

Send him a PM. Be nice, remind him that not only is Sprint still selling the hero, they sell it for MORE than the evo shift.
Unless our forums just don't get as much traffic as the G1, or other old phones... I don't get it.

Its sad considering the Hero and the Droid Eris still have their own dedicated forum and even four older devices still have their own forum.

The Nexus S I saw at Best Buy was running 2.3.1, my Eris runs 2.3.2.

3D root exploit reusable for 4G?

Team Win found an exploit for the 3D. Maybe that could be similarly used against the latest OTA for 4G.
Weren't you the one back seat moderating my thread a few months ago because I didn't follow the rules?
Could have swore searching was apart of the rules.

Searching never gets a perfect result... in most cases, unless you have a unique work, you get an over result of unrelated data. I posted something that I thought would be helpful and it is in the correct forum. Sorry if it displeases you. I actually CARE even though I don't need it. I have ROOT on my 4G already... and I am now a 3D owner. Just thinking about the poor folks who are stuck.
Maybe you could think of them too.
I never suggested it did.
There are two threads in Evo general and two in the Q&A section already.
You literally trolled my post until it was moved because it was not about the Evo, double standard much?
Not even the same but... so your "double standard" plea fails. As do you.
Not the same that you quote rules yet can't follow em?
Good day man. Good day.
Hate to say it but you really didn't even have to search. Two of the posts where on the front page of the General Section. Just a glance at the first page would have given you your "search" results.

The OP card trumps the Senior Member card... edufur, you win!
So edufur, do you know any teams working on rooting the new EVO build? I would like to help where I can. I have to drop by EVO to stock and get it repaired so I would love to get back to CM7 after.

I can't believe I'm about to do this.....errrr.......Matty I actually agree with u. There are already a number of threads on this and this Guy choose to disregard them. No need for a search button either in this case. They r on the front page.
Op. Congrats on ur 3d...go enjoy ur shiney new toy.

A little organization please

Would like to see the debt section organize into sub folders to.seperate the confusion. Example:
Sub:roms
Suborts
Sub:betas
Sub:kernels
Sub:wips
Would help find things easier
What do yall think?

I think it's fine the way it is
I wish it was by Developer
EVO Development split into 3 parts, sections for ROMs and kernels and guides/tweaks.
Then have it broken down by developer or by how recently it has been updated.

I think maybe a sticky listing AOSP vs. Sense would be cool.
Or maybe a new subforum called "Outdated development" that everything older than like 6 months could be moved to. Not complaining, just offering some thoughts.
That's one thing SDX does, is ad child categories per version, like listed above, ie. 2.1, 2.3, etc....

a ROMS subforum and a Kernel subforum would be nice. we dont need ports and betas subforums cuz that'll just be confusing, and we dont need a WIP subforum since everything is a WIP.
I've already tried talking to the mods of the Evo 4G forum and they didn't think it was a good idea. This was about a year ago though.
just read about what your looking for in the forums, it might be a pain in the ass but atleast you'll learn something. plus thats what the search button is for.

no i get it believe me, i just dont think the mods/admins would go through with it. the way the site is now personally i thinks it best left the way it is, makes the noobs actually have to search and read to find what their looking for. thats just me though.

Why is there no development for the thrive??

Seems to me the thrive is one of the 2 clear winners among android tablets. So what gives? Does the thrive have STD's or is there something I'm missing? Full size ports, replaceable battery. I mean the thrive is all that android represents. I want to buy one but I can't pull the trigger until I find out why there are zero dev's on this devive.
Thanks

Check out TabletRoms.com and ThriveForums.org.
There's a new Thrive model shipping later this year. According to Engadget a dual core at 1.5 mhz - not quad core but I wouldn't be surprised if they bump it up to quad.
Perhaps that's why?

How do you still have a xda account. And why do I want to go to some substandard forum. I'm just buying a Asus prime.

Don't be crackpot, we are here to learn, not read your whining. This section for the thrive, and not happy with it or want something else
go to that forum. I love my thrive, price, $299, full size ports, and great developers, can't ask for more.
Sent from my Thrive, rooted and looking for more.
There are developers working with the Thrive. They just aren't on this forum because it doesn't pay any attention to the device. We have custom roms and overclocking and we've developed workarounds for some of the known issues/shortcomings. Why you would call it substandard is beyond me...just sounds like someone speaking from ignorance.

You know it is people like you on this forum that has made me move on to a different forum for all my development. I am a long time member of XDA, but just got tired of how a lot of people flamed individuals for asking questions. We are supposed to be here to help out. Although I even get tired of answering the same questions over and over, I will still help an individual and at a minimum, point them to the answer. Then I will let them know that reading and searching goes a long way. That is the way it should work. Being told that that has been aswered 100 times already does no one any good. So, like you have been told, if you do not like the Thrive, then more power to you. Go get the Asus Prime and go bother them.

Unless you have actually looked and read the forum and checked out what has been done I would say that you are nothing but a simple minded troll that needs to be ignored!!!! Maybe you should get a ipad it seem it would fit you perfect!!!
I swear, I don't understand it. All this rooting, then all the post's about what doesn't work right, after rooting. Maybe the reason there's not too much development for the Thrive, is because it doesn't need any? I like my Thrive bone stock, with the latest upload. It works fine, no problems, no complaints. I also have a Dell Streak also bone stock. Now flame away boys...............
You are correct. I do like being rooted, but I stick with a fully stock ROM that is rooted. That is also the ROMs I offer.

Might be because of the phone's model name.... One.
And I never really understood Why HTC named it the One, again....
"This is the 'One'... no wait, these three are the 'One' .....(a year later) okay, let's try again.. this is THE 'One'! "
( I don't think they are done yet... how many 'One's will there be before they realize that having just ONE phone wasn't ever gonna work? HTC fans are not like Apple fans -- we are picky about our options)

If you ask me this might be the cause of the "HTC One" being a good wildcard keyword for other devices like HTC One X, One S, One V etc.
People posting here with wrong device might be using the power search to look for their device's forum. Or maybe some are just newbie enough to think that seeing "HTC One" forum might think that this is for all the HTC One series.

[Q] No CyanogenMod/AOSP for S4?

Been reading around the nets it isn't happening due to Sammy not playing to nice with the developers.

Can't rule out support just yet.
the samething happened with every other phone in xda except the nexus devices lol
Some CM devs said it's a no go for the exynos chip. The snapdragon will almost definitely see official CM. I'm sure exynos may just as well. Just think of how popular this device is going to be. By the way, don't post q's in developer sections, especially og dev.
