Has anyone else had the problem of the Vibrant updating the media files every time there is a change to either of the storage cards ? I have a 16GB filled with mp3's and pictures that it goes thru every time I make a change to the internal OR external storage. And it REALLY makes the phone lag- almost to a stop.
Does anyone know of a way to control when it updates the media files (ie. a program that you can set to update only during the night) or where there is a setting for this ????
TIA

When I play back music on the Tytn from storage card on Windows Media Player through the speaker of Tytn - skips and stutters during playback of song.
Anyone have this problem or is it my storage card?
Thanks appreciate the help.
I don't have this problem (MP3 or WMA).
Try to copy the files to internal storage and play it from there. If it work, your SD-Card coult by damaged or simply to slow?!
My Wizard used to suffer this problem until I bought a new, high-speed storage card. No more problems now
it might be worth formatting the stick and re-transferring the files back onto it. Make sure you don't transfer the files seperately at the same time. This can fragment the files and cause stutter.
You can highlight all the files you want and send them across in 1 block but not individually more than 1 at a time - if you know what I mean!
I was hoping this would go away in WM6 but it's still there.
It seems kinda ramdom, but I suspect it is related to removing/reinserting the microSD card, or updating it via drag& drop (rather than Sync with Media Player).
What happens is Windows Media Player stops seeing the Storage Card.
I can still play files by "running" them from File Explorer. If I choose Update Library in WMP, it scans the device and tries to add them, but times out.
The only way to get things working again, is to delete the MSMETADATA directory from the storage card and then tell WMP to rescan again.
I think this is a fairly common problem, but does anyone know exactly what causes it? Or a better fix than having to delete/recreate the metadata each time?
I'm suspecting it is because I am not using WMP on the PC to sync music. Syncing with mobile devices doesn't seem to be its strength though - I have my device in there twice and can't remove either instance. Also ActiveSync always says "Setup must be complete" for the WMP item, even though I have set it up several times.
Hi All
I seem to have a problem with my new HD2 and am wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem please?
If I use the Sense UI music player all is fine if a little slow at times. Third party players such as Nitrogen are fine. However, if I simply go to file explorer and open a file the whole phone struggles terribly for about a minute and when it does eventually start playing the file with Windows Media Player it constantly freezes and stutters. After bit of investigation I have found that the player is taking over 90% CPU when doing this. I also notice that when it happens the player tries to to buffer but never gets past 0%.
Is anyone else having this problem please? Is it a known issue please? Vodafone said it was but I can't find anything that covers this exact problem. There is one similar problem but I doubt it is the cause. The process is quite involved to resolve that problem wants me to format my SD card which is why I haven't tried it yet. I have searched high and low but have not seen this problem anywhere else. Could this be a ROM issue that will be fixed by an update or hotfix? Or have I simply got a faulty phone?
Any ideas or suggestions please?
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Paul Lemonidis.
Hi Paul,
I have experienced exactly the same problem and found a way to solve it. I had over 500 MP3 songs in one folder on a microSD card. Playing them was terrible, the same problems you mention: stutter, freezing, buffering and the entire phone seemed to be unresponsive at times.
Then I played a very large MP3 file (about 1 hour in length) and I had no troubles at all. That surprised me, because I expected (because of the constant buffering) this would not play at all. What suddenly hit me was that this large file was the only MP3 file in a separate folder.
So I moved a couple songs (which stuttered very much) to another folder and they played without any problem.
The solution I used was this: I deleted the single folder with to over 500 MP3's and added the songs through the Media Player of my PC. This way, the folder structure in the music folder is: Artist/Album/Songs. So every single folder with songs contains only a few MP3 files.
After that I let the Media Player rescan the microSD card. All the songs were detected and they all play without any worry.
My question to you is: Do you also have a large amount of MP3 files in one physical folder? Then I bet you can use my solution, or at least devide the large amount of MP3 files over various physical folders.
Best regards,

i tried to play music from the desktop but i can't see any songs or any albums..
i got a message says (The music titles in the playlist no longer exist. They may have been deleted or the storage card may have been removed) ..
in spite of i have songs on the device and on the storage card.. and i can play them with the media player and other apps...
i need your help guys.. how do i fix the Sense Music player to see my Songs/Albums list again!?
thanks alot
Does this happen when your phone is connected to your computer ? If so it sounds like your hd2 id set to work as a removable storage device when its connected to your pc, where the sd card becomes unavaliable to the phone and you can only access it from tue computer to transfer files.

no i set the device on ActiveSync and the device not connected to pc.. still not working :s
Any genius here?
I have the exact same problem. The songs are located on the SD and I can play them with WMP or CorePlayer but Sense can't seem to locate them.
I didn't have this problem 2 days ago, but yesterday I copied 4 more albums to my SD card and since then Sense Music can't locate anything.
I have about 2GB of music but I doubt there's some limit. I tryied removing the SD and soft resetting the device a few times but it didn't fix the problem.
The card is in good shape and all apps installed on it work just fine.
I've had this issue on a couple of occasions. The sense player shows no files, but, of course, there are! I actually coaxed the Sense player into finding them by going to the menu tab and selected Add to Playlist. My files were THERE, but not in the actual Sense UI. I selected a song, it started to play, and then, voila, all of the files populated the Sense player again. It's odd...
not sure if I have the same problem, but when it happens to me, I just wait for ages and then they reappear. I think it just takes the Audio Manager Engine ages to re-scan your memory card after it has been connected to a pc. I often find that I can see files on the song tab before they appear on the Album or Artist tab.
this happens to me everytime i add a track or tracks, and every time i soft reset, all you have to do is go to song tab when phone is in horizintal view ( click library> slide to songs ) individual songs are there l, just play one then everything starts comeing back....
hellyeah!
Damn you're a genious!!
i've been trying for hours..
now i got my music back in sense player!
thanks!
For a brief period of time, I was able to get the "Media Server" that constantly ate my battery to go away by creating a .nomdeia file in /sdcard.
Now I see "Media Server" coming back to haunt me, and someone has deleted the .nomedia file I made. If I create it again, it eventually goes away again.
Is rooting this thing and removing the damn media server the only way I'll ever be able to get it to stop eating my battery? Anyone know who deletes .nomedia all the time?
You have one or multiple corrupted media files on your sd card or maybe the entire memory is corrupted, so the media server gets stuck and never finishes indexing the memory. I have 20gb of music and art least 60gb of movies on an external 128gb sd card and I have no problems with media server.

I have the same problem as u do - for 5 months i had no issues whatsoever with that but suddenly the media server started to consume my battery quite a bit. It happens for last 2 months and is really annoying. No clue about the fix though!

I've read that theory before, but it doesn't explain why something keeps deleting the .nomedia file I create, plus I have essentially zero media files on my tablet, just the beeps and stuff that come with it for making standard noises (and the promo video that came with it as well).
