[Q] WiFi Tethering

Hi:
I have my HTC Aria from about a month now. I bought it in AT&T with a 2 year contract. The problem now is that I want to use the internet of my phone in my computer. I have not found any guide that can help me 100% to do it, and almost all guides talk about routing my HTC Aria and I don't know how to do it and I'm scared that I can broke it if I do it.
So I came here asking if someone have a nice guide to do it. I don't have CM6, so I have it with the 2.1-update1 that came from factory.
Thanks for your help and sorry for my bad English!

if you can find the sideloading program off of these forums (sorry i dont know where it is anymore)
and then find PDANet online somewhere you can use that to tether your aria
its what i used to use till i upgraded to CM6
I'm reading in this forum a guide to root my phone using unrevoked3.
If I just root my phone, ¿can I tether with just Rooted HTC Aria?
Thanks!

once its rooted the only difference is that you will able to flash custom ROM's
and you will have clockwork recovery also
if you flash CM6 then you can tether without a separate program but its a completely different user interface, you would lose sense, and i would suggest using nandroid to backup your current rom because u would lose all settings and if you dont sync contacts with google you will lose those too
it takes some getting used to, but its worth it to be able to flash custom roms

Is this safe?

Hi,
Is the "Shipped Roms.com Buzz Image" safe? I was planning on using the "RUU_Buzz_TMO_UK_1.14.110.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.19_release_130442_signed" file. What are the risks for me doing this to my T-Mobile Wildfire? I don't want to brick my phone!
Can I then upgrade from there to 2.2? Will it make my phone "as new"?
Thank you so much, happy holiday!
(I would post links but the system doesn't allow it)
I am missing some information about why you wanna install that RUU?
Why not just run one of the custom ROM's like wildpuzzle that almost are the default ROM but more or less optimized.
But the page you almost link to are good enough, no danger in using their files.

Hi there,
I currently have rooted 2.1 and want to go to 2.2. I'll no longer need root because I only want it for the WiFi tethering ability, and 2.2 has this included.
I want to use the stock one that came with the phone in case I ever need to return the phone to T-Mobile. They have said the custom ones invalidate the warranty.
I have gone to install it but I'm getting error 170, USB connection error. I've tried connecting the phone in "Charge only", "Disk Drive" and "HTC Sync" modes but none of these work.
Do you have any ideas on how to get it to detect my phone?
Thank you so much!

I've been trying to root my phone in order to install the app2sd and other 3rd party apps and root apps
.apk but since att phones can't install 3rd party apps, I can't manage to install the Androot app.
How can i bypass this?
Is there a simple way?

the easiest thing you can do is:
1) go to the android central sideload wonder machine. (google it)
2) install universal androot.apk (again, google is your best friend! )
3) Follow the steps. Install with superusser!
If you need more help, PM me.
Remember, if i helped you, PLEASE click thanks.

I rooted the flipout using the file from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14253085&postcount=2
which is this attachment:

I believe it's an older version of SuperOneClick that works OK with android 2.1 that flipout has
I had problems using SuperOneClick, so I did it using an older version of UniversalAndroot which I used for my other phone. You download it straight to your phone by accessing this link tinyurl.com/urooted.
how do you UNroot a device?
I though that by restoring to factory defaults the root would be gone but i was wrong!
can any one help me in rooting motorola CHARM
can we root motorola charm using super one click

Hi. I'm assuming your phone is rooted? If so, download ROM manager, and you can preserve the ROM from there...
To view stock ROMs please visit samsfirmware<dot>com and download the ROM you want i.e. version, brand (network specific), country etc.
I'll be honest, haven't once regretted upgrading to Froyo. For more information on upgrading see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=778880

HTC Wildfire Unroot Help

ii want to unroot my htc wildfire. I want to unroot it using a Debranded RUU.
however, when i try using an unbranded RUU i recieve an error
ERROR [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR
my phone was originally on 3g.
is thier a way i can unroot the device and have it debranded?
thnks
What version of Android has it got? Also use Unrevoked 3 first!
Its currently Rooted and has a custom rom on it 2.2.1.
i thought you have to revoke it when you want to root the phone?

Oops! Misread your question, thought you said root not unroot!
Do you know what radio it had originally? You should be able to find one on the shipped ROMS site.
Sorry
EDIT: By the way, did you make a goldcard? Did it decline it?
i dont remember what radio it had on thier. However, i updated the radio from a link i seen on the Wildpuzzle rom thread.
it oringnally had 3 software on there.
i want to unroot it with debranded firmware.
ive tried this
RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.3
1_release_142189_signed.exe...
and im recieving the error mentioned above
thnk
I assume you have looked here? http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Buzz
Hi, yes thats were i downloaded the firmware.
but im recieving errors when using the update
Do you want Froyo? If you do then this "should" work. HERE
You will NOT be able to re-root on that ROM.
Or if you don't want it then try this Eclair ROM HERE
Give them a try and tell me what happens!
Hope that helps you
Hi, i want to reroot in the future so i wont go for the froyo update.
just to be sure, if i update using the eclair update will i be able to still root in the future?
im still recieving the same error it goes all the way to writing signiture and then just shows the error.

Really sorry, I don't know what it is if that didn't work
I'm assuming the 3 you're on is 3UK? You could try to install it as a gold card if you know how.
EDIT: Here's how to create one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572683
I just succesfully unrooted the device. After making a Goldcard. djdevine2 your help was much appreciated.
Thanks
