Select text zoom on big brother x10? - XPERIA X10 General

Is it possible to get the zoom in text select on the x10 like the x10 mini? (like on the iphone as well where a magnifying glass appears and you can select exactly where you want the text marker?)

Iphone Photo Application for Hermes

can you guys help me out . am looking for the new Iphone's Picture Application which enlarges the picture using your fingers
That would probably be HTC Album - it uses one finger gestures to rotate, zoom & browse photos.
It's OK but I find the gestures for zoom to be too tricky, it normally rotates instead.
And unlike the iPhone, you can't use two fingers, just one touch at a time.
Cheers!
Oggy.
Could be s2v... Good little program, you should find it if you search for it.

No, there is no magnifying glass. you can tap roughly in the area you want to correct and then use the arrows.
But its nothing like the iphone keyboard.

Desire's select text magnifier extract?

hi guys, im nt running the desire rom but whilst i was i reeally loved the magnified select text feature. Not sure if its implemented throughout or just the browser as i only came across it during using the browser. Will it be possible to take the magnify script and implement into n1 roms?
thanks
I'd love if someone could port that over as well. I came from an iPhone 3G to a Nexus One and that's one of my most missed features.

I miss it as well specially when selecting text like the iPhone did...
+1. would love this on my droid running froyo
Yeah, except for select all, selecting text on Android is a PITA. I need to look up how to do it better sometime, I'm sure it can be done..
I hope we don't have to wait for Gingerbread for this feature!

Just choose Select text from the options and use the trackball to move to what you want. Press the trackball, move it to highlight your selection, press it again to copy the selection to the clipboard.

i think he knows how, sounds like hes looking for what a better way is. I want find a better way to i tried copying for a long time but i dont even bother anymore. Android introduced the feature earlier than the iphone yet not only is the iphone version better, androids isnt even worth using. i bet gingerbread will make it a ton better.
In Desire.... to select a portion of text, we have a selection method like iphone, that alowed to stretch and shrink, was better than iphone, because we can send it to google tradutor or even to twitter or email.
Now, in Froyo this method of selection dont work...we have one like WM....and is wast we just can copy!!
What i'm talking is what who can see here just after the 1 minute mark:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H30u4...layer_embedded
For exemple:
How did you select a portion of text to edit bold, italic or underline??
I give my centims to, who can, make the a phrase like mine up with Froyo
We need a port!
select works in rodriguezstyle's desire port
Is there still no way to port this into another rom like OpenDesire?
Edit: Didn't realise this was the N1 forum sorry (came through search), but guess it still applies.

How do I accurately select text?

After pressing the bottom left hardware botton to select text, I'm having problem placing the cursor to accurately indicate the starting and ending position of the selection. What is the big secret on how to do this operation right?
i have the exact same problem.. i wish the phone had arrows or a trackball.. and when you select text twards the far right of the text box, it auto moves the screen back to the center of the box.. its very difficult, the only advice i can offer is pinch zoom in very close, till the text takes up most of the screen, and highlight better. of course pinchzooming method will only work for email and web pages.. no help for texting..
If I zoom in, then either the beginning of end of the selection block is no longer in view, and dragging does not automatically scroll the screen like in iPhone.

As someone who is coming from an iPhone I can tell you that this is something that I really miss.
Android needs to learn how to do proper copy and paste (this is not just a Samsung thing).
On a side note, I am really hating the email client on android, this is not a phone very usable in a corporate (Exchange) environment!
Perhaps it is a mistake to omit the trackball?? Looks like trackball is extremely crucial for any Android phone.
Kurtbee, you're right. Google has not thought through the design of copy and paste properly yet.

No, trackballs are a step backwards. Android should simply implement a better way to select text - the iPhone does it beautifully.
I also am not in love with any of the email clients - even K-9 has a crappy/ugly interface. And why isn't there a way to force check email in the Integrated Mailbox?

Totally agreeing with you. However, copying Apple might land Google into a law suit, so I think they'll be weary of that.
BTW, for INPUT field only, I accidentally discover a way to accurately do it. Here's how:
1) On the Swype keyboard (that's why it is only limited to input field, unfortunately), draw a North west to south east line going across the upper right corner of the Swipe key. In other word, from the upper case arrow position to the SYM key. This will change the keyboard to one that contacts cursor, home, select all, select, text, cut, copy, paste.
2) Then use the cursor key to move to the one end of the selection block.
3) Press the select text button
4) Move cursor to the other end of the selection box, followed by either a cut or paste key depending on what you want to do. This will copy the block to the clipboard.
Unfortunately, often I need to select from non-input field as well, and there is no solution for that yet.
Hope this little tip helps everyone. Cheers.
Same thing for the samsung keyborad if you press the 123 field for a long time.
Now we need to find a way to do the same on a web page ...

Thanks, but how do I change the keyboard from Swype to the Samsung keyboard? Is this keyboard from Samsung or from Google?
Just touch the text until you see a pop up.
Then you should have the possibility to change the keyboard
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Got it. Thank!
Wow, thanks guys, this will make typing a lot easier! You would think the arrowy keyboard thing would be more highlighted and easily accesible since it's making the experience much better. Well, maybe in the gingerbread, they didn't hire the Palm UI guy for nothing...
I find it a little difficult, but can usually get it after 2 or 3 tries max.
Maybe using fingernail is more accurate?
Finger nails do not work on capacity touchscreen though. Even if it does, how do you deal with situation where the selection block span outside the screen? There is no provision to scroll the screen during the selection process.
HTC Sense Androids have a great copy-paste feature identical to IPhone. Hopefully it can get ported to galaxy

Zoom box text selection

I love the text selection method on the new Sense UI and the zoom box helps a lot but if you use it for text near the top of the screen the box goes off the screen rendering it useless. Has anyone looked into a fix for it? Maybe reposition the zoom box somehow.
Really? I'm the only one that hates it doing that?
Seems so :|
