Obviously that is without SetCPU or anything and people have to have been playing with it. Even not, 30%/day not being touched is pretty good. What have you guys done for battery life? Have you noticed the "ramp up" time that is always claimed by cell phone manufacturers? Mine has sucked today but I've been beating the hell out of it. I'm going to charge it and let it stay unplugged overnight to see what the standby drain is but what is everyone doing? Have you messed with SetCPU at all?

Who cares, I'm buying 2 spare batteries from Ebay, just like I had for my G1. I can go thru all 3 batteries on my G1 while at work for 10hrs. So, I'm assuming I will get similar results.

Haha I know what you mean. That's what I love about having a removable battery. Who cares right? Swap it out and you're good.
As for my experience, the battery live has been good. The battery status bar up top is not accurate though. Similar to the reception (bar) problem how it shows no bars but you actually have great signal. I'm sure a software fix will be available soon for this. Very minor.
Here are some things you can do to improve battery life:
Remove all unnecessary widgets off your screen. I had an analog clock on there and when I removed it, I noticed better battery life just from that. No joke.
Turn off the live wallpapers. Those drain battery too.
Turn off wifi if not using it
Turn off bluetooth
Set the notifications to refresh at a longer interval instead of like every 5 mins etc...
If you're really nit picky, check "use only 2g networks..." - I personally wouldn't.
Adjust your screen to the lowest brightness. I love that it's an SAMOLED screen, because I could never get by with the lowest setting on other lcd screens.

By the way....regarding non-OEM batteries....I do notice that they are all 1500mAh (like oem), but I've always had a stigma about putting generic batteries into expensive devices.
I guess where my stigma comes from is due to my past experience with my digital camera, when I took photos of a wedding and my files got corrupted. My only explanation was because I was using a non-oem battery, because ever since that I've only used oem batteries along with that same memory card and have never had a problem since. It's been 3 years.
Since the non-oem batteries are 1500mAh, it shouldn't matter right? Now that I think about it, I do remember the camera batteries being of a higher mAh than the original battery...I know this only has to do with the capacity, but as for the voltage output, could there have been a strange surge to cause the corruption?
I know I'm just being paranoid, but just thought I'd get some input from those who know about the mechanics of batteries and the likelihood of any malfunction due to it being a cheap non-oem battery made in china.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
My biggest battery drain was use wireless networks was disabled by default. All apps that tried to get my location therefore turned on GPS. One widget was bugged and would keep using GPS, killing my battery overnight. Uninstalled the widget and enabled use wireless networks and only lost a percent or two overnight. Make sure the GPS icon is not consistently on when not using Google Maps and whatnot.

This didn't really do anything for me. Under usage it definitely uses less battery than my N1 but standby SUCKS. How did the one in the store get 2+ days. I switched from GSM/CDMA Auto PRL to just GSM Auto PRL. I am switching back. WCDMA Preferred actually got me better battery on the N1.

The Amps and Volts are important, but in a battery is only a small part of it. The quality matters, the drain matter, it's max input matters, it's sensitivity to fluctuation, sensitivity to over charge... etc etc etc...
That being said, most modern devices these days have a lot of internal fail safes that should try to stop anything crazy from happening... because really the battery could have any amount of amp hours rated to it, how much it can and will output is what matters though. You could theoretically make a battery the size of a car battery for the thing that with 1500AH (aka 1,500,000mAH) would give you a retarded amount of standby time as long as it was rated about the same on everything else... although charge that thing wrong and you would have a pretty cool fireball...
an app called juice defender seems to work pretty good for me on the vibrant (ultimate juice is the paid version with all the features). I previously used it on my cliq and had good results also.
what it does is disables apn and/or wifi and you choose what intervals it comes back on. example - you could have it come on every 15 minutes for 1 minute at a time to complete necessary syncs. you can also set up night schedules etc.
I would recommend this app if you're lookin to save some battery. it also has a little widget to show you how much battery you have saved. not sure how accurate that is though. good luck!

I stopped caring. As long as it has enough to charge to stay on between unplugging it in the morning, and plugging it up at night, I'm golden. I've had the phone since launch, and I've only charged it up twice, so that's about two days between charges. I got it with a roughly 60% charged battery.
I use BatteryLife by Curvefish to see my battery usage.

Galaxy S/Vibrant charger is 5v @ .7A. I think I read that the N1 wall charger is 5v @ 1A. It'll charge a little faster, and will probably heat up the battery more, but it shouldn't destroy the phone. I'm sure somebody smarter will correct me, though.

There is a problem with our battery life and we all know its true... I have even been given a new battery and HTC mains charger
I turn off any service im not using at the time (ie: wifi, BT, GPS, NETGPS,etc) not that I should have to do this, but lets story on track...
My battery will make about 1 day as I am A "power user" but if its not plugged in I wont have the juice for my alarm to wake me up, my wifes Sony Ericsson lasts 4-5 days per charge, but lets not compare apples and oranges, the whi-phone 3g my sister has sahe bought it about the same times as my g1, she hadn't ever heard of "deep cycling" 2-5 times when you get a new phone, she never lets it discharge fully and just tops off all the time, AFAIK she is treating a NIMH cell exactly the wrong way, BUT SHE GETS 1-3 DAYS depending on the type of use, and never turns off ANY of the 3g, gps, net gps, wifi, BT nada and Id say she uses hers alot because its her primary camera, GPS & A/V player

they better come off a new battery almost all other new phones will get 1-2 day + average use, Ive had phones that could go 3-4. but the state of the art G1 mindblowing innovative phone wont even work a whole day, so what if its bigger than the whi-phone, it has no keyboard.
I for one would like to hear some solid info on a replacement battery and back, for new and existing G1 users, early adopters got the fuzzy end of the lollipop on the HTC->headphone jack adapter I got the headphones with the htc angled adapter from fleabay, so many manufactures stick it to the early adopter, when we are the ones that get the word of mouth going, as people go "WOW that thing is cool!,what is it?! they know when we bought out phones and should be able to figure out when the head phone rev change was made, so send them to the first of the buyers....
IF the battery issue isnt fixed, alot of people will be very angry and the g1 will flop.
I think the bad press is starting to out weigh the good press the G1 and possibly android as a whole is at a crossroad. If the g1 tanks Android will be stained forever...thankfully enuff I dont think XDA-DEV would give up on this badboy, I love this thing, and I love it for what it can be

I dunno. With normal use, I get about 12 hours or more from my stock battery. That's about the same as other HTC phones I've had.
there is a battery issue and we are al aware of it.
i have managed to have it last through out the day
just set the brightness to the lowest possible, sleep time to 15 secs
turn off data and wifi and anything else that you are not using
its not how the phone was intended to be used, but it's what i ave to do for now
I find it fine for everyday use. Of course I haven't done a full test but maybe tomorrow I will.
I would like to use my G1 like I use my WinMo but no way I can with the battery.

I think you're exaggerating here a little bit. The battery life, while it got press at first, has faded from the limelight of android news for the general population. The G1 is already far from a flop and I don’t think there’s going to be a sudden mass return of all the handsets sold.
Let’s face it living on the cutting edge means you will get cut sometimes. Your high expectations will not always be met and manufacturers will frequently not care. The battery life is less than what many people expected, but we’ve learned to deal with it. At least we have options (power management, backup batteries, and expanded capacity batteries), but I’d not hold my breath on HTC making any major moves. How long has the issue been going with the TYTN II drivers anyway?

I have no idea what kind of use gets 1-3 days, but it certainly isn't 3G web browsing. Most iPhone 3G battery life tests clock 3G data use at about 3-5 hours. Based on my own usage of a friend's iPhone 3G, that seems to be about right. Coincidentally my G1 gets about 3-5 hours of 3G data use as well.
Frankly, from an engineer's point of view I have not seen any power drain tests conducted with enough rigor and variable control to be worthy of being called a truly scientific analysis. Even the best "battery life tests" out there aren't declaring what type of testing environment (los and distance to closest 3G tower), what background apps are installed, ambient temperature (which affects the battery discharge profile), etc. Without considering and removing these variables from the test, deviation could be as high as... well there's no fixing the percentage really. It's all just junk data.
I do notice after I installed Task Manager, to close out programs I am not using my battery life went up. There are a lot of un needed start up apps.

Yep my friend has iphone and we did test last weekend, both went 3 hours and change then died. If i dont use internet and set timeout and brightness down plus use task manager mine will go as long as my dash. I personally dont care about the battery life, i have a computer, home charger and car charger and i drive for a living so if it gets low no biggie. In my opinion i dont see android going anywhere and i love the g1. Just like wm its gonna take time to get off the ground. To say its at a crossroads is ridiculous.
I am using ADP1.1 and yea if I am browsing the net with 3G for 3-5 hours straight I start seeing the battery go down. But from 100% to 0% takes me longer than 5 hours. I know because I like to lay in bed and don't care to come check my messages LOL
I bought a G1 last week and so far I have been really dissapointed. After having an elf and seeing other htc phones I was expecting big things from the G1.
I am now a week into ownership and after 5 full charge - discharge cycles I am managing to get 24 hours out of the phone with next to no use what so ever. If i check my emails and do 30 mins browsing the phone is dead in 6 or less.
The hardware is simply put 'very poor' my screen is wobbly and the back is loose, all this after just a week.
As for android, it is fantastic everything I expected (except hotmail support) and there is no way it is going to flop. Its just a shame that google and htc didn't wait until they had the right phone for the job.
Thats just my 10p worth!!

It all depends on what you have installed. for me the start up is. I beleve amazon does too, but I uninstalled that. But the first thing I do is go into task manager and kill everything. And only like two things auto start up. I really with HTC built in a x-button app for android. I loved the click x for close.

Under light usage I get about 36 hours from full charge to shutdown. That's GPS on, Bluetooth on, Autosync on, periodically doing e-mail and web browsing.
Under heavy usage (Which is basically I listened to MP3s for 2 hours) it goes at least 17 hours before I plug it back in. I haven't tested but I'd bet it could go 20 or more.
That's as good as (or better) than I was getting on the Wizard/MDA.
I dunno if anyone has stated it but the problem with the battery has to do with the phone recieving the cell signal. For some reason the phone runs in overload when searching for a cell signal...I noticed this one day when T-Mo suspended my service and my battery meter never moved all day, I think by night it was down to 85-90%...sure enough that night when I paid my bill and the phone started picking up signal again, the battery depleted at "normal" speed.

Why do i keep hearing that there is no hotmail support? Android (and G1) works with hotmail just fine! Just go to the Email program and set it up. WHY!! .. I am having connection errors sometimes though..
Battery is a big issue. Never had any luck with it.. EVER.. just unplugged it and after about 1+ hour it's down to 66%. Played a game (slide puzzle) watched 2 youtube vids of about 3 minutes each. And I had it fully drained and recharged a couple of times in the beginning. It didn't even took 10 minutes to drop from 100% to 89%.. But I was on wifi.. Maybe this is normal.
Software has a lot to do with this I think. Yesterday I had about 50-60% left. Did something, can't remember what, opening programs or music. And closed it. After 5 minutes I checked and battery was hot and had drained to orange level. I checked with task manager and only calendar/messaging/tunewiki/music was on. I closed all and restarted the phone, cuz it was still hot. Luckily it lasted a few hours till I got home, with very carefull use..

Lately I've been running the latest update of the same ROM (Nonsensikal Froyo - now 15.2) without any CPU apps (no o/c'ing through script either), no autokiller, no battery tweaks (just Juice Plotter) only 1 widget (Fancy Widget Pro), JIT enabled, VM heap @32, compcache @18 (default) and depending on which app I look at, TiB or RE, I have +/-110mb of free RAM, very minimal apps. Also, I upgraded to CFSv9. I even bought a Seidio Innocell 1750mh extended life battery. I recalibrate my battery after flashes ....
Oh yeah, a little more info, I am not a power user, just an average user with poor to ok reception, I tend to use wireless at my house b/c reception out here in the woods ain't good, but turn it off when not needed. I use airplane mode during sleeping hours as well. The max of my battery usage is Display, then And OS.
Ok, now the question ..... If I don't use airplane mode, I get maaaaaay-be 6-8 hours of average phone usage, usually less !!
What finally broke me to PM you now is that (i recently put numbers on my battery icon) while typing a text message earlier (a few minutes tops, not on wireless) I watched my battery click down from 50 to 48 !!!
When I charge my phone full & I easily lose 10% in half an hour (I've tried this with SetCPU, JD, CBT, Super Power, CPUBoost Lite - I think you get the gist) ... and not including airplane mode, I NEVER get more than 6-8 hours of battery life !!!
Is there any knowledge that you can give me on this issue or have I pretty much exhausted my options ? I am this PM short of resigning to crappy battery life

What does the phone/Spare Parts say is using all the battery? Have you tried flashing and then using the phone without installing apps (other than the essentials?) Are you leaving the phone idle, screen off, and noticing the same big drop?
You could try going to stock for a bit to see if it improves...or trying a different ROM. Maybe you have a dud battery?
Edit: Sorry, you may have meant this to be directed at someone specifically.
Just an observation. If you're not using anything to overclock the phone maybe the battery life would be better if you at least underclock it. I suggest Conap's CPUBoost Lite, free on the market and here. Just set the minimum frequency to 245760 (my suggestion), and I currently have the screen off Minimum to 19200 and the screen off Maximum to 480000.
Also, I used to use Juice Plotter. I theorized that maybe Juice Plotter wasn't great for my battery itself.

I noticed the same thing when I used Juice Plotter. I got significantly less battery life when i had it. Try deleting Juice Plotter and see if you get more life out of your battery.
well you've noted your in a poor coverage area, and that is your problem, nothing can completely fix other than moving, but you may want to research flashing a new radio, becareful and check your md5 hash sums

Actually, the Verizon Network Extender can definitely help without moving. http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=gotoFemtocell
It's $250, but probably a lot cheaper than moving, and it should help with battery life. It does with me - I get 24-32 hours on a 1750 battery, with WiFi on all of the time (I have the old, non-3G extender.)
I'm running Tazz Froyo and get a minimum of 24 hrs on stock battery. I would try changing roms.
Battery life on my eris was never good, that's why you buy a extended battery. I have the biggest one that they have on amazon and my battery can last for five days with average use

Yes, it works if you do it propely. Charge phone to 100%, boot into recovery, wipe battery stats, reboot phone. Use your phone as normal until the battery is fully discharged and it shuts the phone off. I sometimes try to turn it back on also just to make sure it is all the way dead. Plug your phone in to charge it, walk away, don't touch it until it is 100% charged. Turn your phone on and use it as normal. It sometimes will take a few times charging it to see a difference. If I missed anything or mistyped anything some one correct me please lol
I got 48 hours of battery life this past weekend (2 full days) after reworking my phone on Friday. I actually got 24 hours of battery life one day, when I first flashed the phone a couple of weeks ago, with Light / Moderate use. I am running the Bonsai4All ROM. I had been running it previously but had flashed back to stock due to an issue with Wifi, that I thought might be related to this ROM. After further research I found the Wifi issue was NOT related so I decided, since I liked Bonzai so well, to re-flash and keep it.
Here's what I did:
* From Odin I flashed to the stock ROM.
* I flashed to DK28 via Odin.
* I loaded Bonzai4All_Leafless.zip, ext4-format_njournal.zip and kernel-EXT4-RFS-Bonzai.zip files to my sdcard.
* I rooted my phone using the OneClickRootCWM3.zip.
* Restarted my phone in Recovery Mode to update CWM to ext4.
* Flashed Bonzai ROM and started phone.
* Installed my apps.
* Restarted my phone in Recovery Mode and ran Reboot Recovery to get to CW 2.5
* Flashed ext4-format.
* Flashed Bonzai4All.
* Flashed Kernel-EXT4
* Restarted phone.
At this point I had a clean install and all apps re-installed via Google. Then I turned the phone off and fully charged my battery. I Bump-charged the battery 6 times (6X) to get a full charge (something I found in another post). Before I turned the phone on I booted into Recovery and Wiped the Battery Stats. I restarted the phone and followed these steps (also something I had found in another post in the forums regarding battery life).
* Turned off bluetooth when not in use.
* Turned off GPS when I didn't need it.
* Turned screen brightness to automatic
* Turned off 4G receiver since I was out of 4G coverage area this weekend.

The phone was used lightly over the weekend. I used Bluetooth when making calls and only syncing about four times a day. I also did a few text messages. I fully charged my phone yesterday and am using it more to see what the battery life is with Moderate use. At this point it has been unplugged for 20 hours and still has 64 percent charge.
I took pictures via Shoot Me every 12 hours. These pictures are real, they have not been tampered with. Don't know what anyone elses results have been but here are mine.
Ehh..With light to moderate use thats not too impressive; btw..the "bump" charging isn't good for your battery. Theres a reason why it doesn't fully charge; because it's not good for the health of the battery.

That's why I posted this...wanted to know what others were getting from the battery. I'm aware of the bump charge issue and this is a one-time thing for me...don't have money to replace it...hehe.

Everyone should just get an extended battery and not worry about battery life anymore. I run everything at their optimal settings and the phone lasts forever anyway. Brightness at max all the time, no juicedefender or any of that nonsense. Its awesome. You can leave GPS on contantly. Who cares, you got plenty of battery. And if you absolutely need the battery to last you can just tone down some things and make it last for days. Longest I have gone is:

I bought the 3500mah one from ebay. They go for like 12 dollars now. They are not actually 3500mah, but they certainly give a giant boost over stock. They are probably around 2600-3000mah realistically. I have a review in the accessories section. The name brand batteries might be better, but no one has done a objective test comparing them yet and for the price its hard to beat the generic ones from China. People are very satisfied with the Yoobao 2800 mah batteries as well, and those go for around 20ish dollars shipped on ebay. Both are the same thickness and add a little bulk to the phone but you get used to it almost immediately.

google this: Seidio Innocell. they have a 3300 mAH battery and i believe they might have a 3500 mAH one as well. so far ive seen nothing but the best reviews for this brand on newegg, amazon, as well as anroid central. theyre a bit pricey, but im not going to let that stop me from using my phone fully without fear of being too far from an outlet

I have had similar luck... But I usually just run the phone all out anyway... Listening to pandora now just because I'm sick of my normal collection... I have another battery I can throw in when this one dies today... And rest assured it will

Same. I can't wait until the 2.2 source is leaked. Gonna have my phone overclocked and set for Performance in SetCPU, screen brightness on high, etc, while still having enough battery for a day.

muyoso: I ordered a two-pack generic 3500mAh with charger last night ($26). Again, I had been looking at them but wanted to hear from someone who had used them. In regards to your last reply, I also had my phone overclocked and set for Performance in SetCPU, screen brightness on high, etc, the first time I flashed Bonzai...got 6 and a half hours of battery life and only made ONE phone call...LOL! I've had almost 30 hours of battery life with moderate / heavy use after I posted the original thread, so I've been pretty happy. I'm looking forward to the extended battery.

I didn't know that to be honest. I was given the impression that a lot of the generic brands seem to have a shorter life even with comparable mAH ratings. I also read amazing reviews for this specific brand even on here. I'm not a fan-boy or anything, but I've been trying to find a decent extended battery for my epic as well. However, I cant go out and spend my hard earned moneys without doing some research and so far ive read that this is one of the top brands. But now after reading your post im not so sure about what to do :/

The reasons to buy the Seidio is that you know you are going to get a perfectly functioning battery and that the battery might last longer than generics.
The reason to buy generics are that they are cheap as hell, but you may get a dud apparently, according to a couple people in my accessories thread, and might have to exchange it with the seller.
Either way, no battery other than an OEM battery will be at the rated capacity. I dont know how they are able to claim mah ratings that their batteries simply cannot reach. I mean, I know how the generics can do it, they are based in China and they can claim anything they want without retribution.
I recommend saving your money and getting a generic or even a Yoobao branded battery, because even if it does lose the ability to hold capacity 50% sooner than the Seidio would, you can just buy another 5 and still have paid less money than the name brand one.

I don't have 3g on because in my house I'm by wifi, outside I'm blanketed in 4g and I noticed that since I took 3g off, my cell standby doesn't even show up in the battery percentage usage so I'm guessing that added to my battery life lol

These 4 are probably the biggest drivers. I've gotten nearly 36 hours out of the phone before with light use.
The constantly waking to sync is a large drain in Android.
Also, I notice the WiFi radio in this phone practically sips power. The 3G radio, on the other hand, tanks the phone like no other, moreso than other phones (and all the reviews seem to confirm this by the talk time comparisons).
That and using the display in auto brightness. The display sucks down quite a bit, despite Samsung's claims to its power efficiency.

I got those results with the brightness set to manual (usually I have it at 50-70ish%, putting it up to 100 when watching videos and viewing pics) and the auto sync on
I think it has to do with certain kernals and stuff? Idk but I don't think its worth gimping th features that make it a "smartphone"...

Having tried just about everything to prolong the life of the battery on my Desire HD, I think that I have, at last, found a real solution.
I did not like the idea of buying a spare battery mainly due to the flimsy battery compartment on the phone and the thought of constantly swapping batteries. Swapping batteries would also involve switching off the phone and losing data (for example, if you are using GPS to track your movements).
I have tried lots of software solutions, most of which help to give me an hour or two of extra life. My favourite software solution is Juice Defender, which works well within the limits of HTC's awful battery.
Someone on another thread recommended the TechNet external charger, which packs a 5,000ma charge - enough for four full recharges of the HD phone. It plugs into the micro USB port on the phone and charges the phone as though it is connected to the power supply. It hot-charges, which means you don't need to swap batteries or switch off the phone. The device comes with lots of adaptors to charge lots of different devices. There is also an 11,000ma version... enough for 10 recharges.

I purchased this before I went back to nz for Xmas. Well worth the purchase, has saved me several times. One thing to be mindful of is that if you accidentally turn it on without realising, the battery will drain, even if its not charging anything.

Is the battery really that awful? I can use the phone for 24hrs (including stand-by time, 14-16hrshrs of usage time) with wifi, 3g constantly on until I need a charge.
Which is really more then enough time for me in between charges, unless you go on trip for days without access to a computer or an wall socket.
Its nice to have a phone which last for days like the old days, but it really has no inconvenience charging it once a day, right?
+1 , left my phone in work the other day after reasonable useage in the time I was in work 0900-2000, came in the following morning , to find 13% charge remaining and that was in-spite of my alarm going off
I find that if you put your phone in power saving mode, even the remaining 10% can last you for almost a day.
Its quite useful if you know you gonna leave ur phone for a period of time.
Actually it would be quite useful to have a toggle widget to do that on ur home screen instead letting it activating itself below a set percentage. Is there any?

I was so frustrated with the battery usage I nearly ditched the phone. I decided to apply a different rom after reading and considering many posted here I went with Coredroid, which I downloaded from this site. (had the original vodafone rom) Great support and documentation and tons of help if it goes south.
I can say as of now my phone is 5 times at least faster and the battery life has extended 300%.
When you check battery usage the I found the number one battery killer is Display. With Coredroid its about the 5th item on the list. Wireless and bluetooth and the biggest now (if you can call them real big) but they are easy to turn on/off.
I was very nervous about a custom rom but I needed something. I can only recommend you look at other roms apart from you stock one -Im assuming. (Im not sure what warranty etc rules are gone, personally I don't care)

Well, it's a heavy phone already, a huge screen to light up and render -it's pretty clear where the power is needed. But would the bulk associated with another 400mah really have tipped the DHD over the edge?
Anyway, it's designed now, and nothing can be done about that. I'm quite happy with it lasting until the night for normal/heavy usage (about 16 hours) - with it's out-of-the-box form factor.
And for those occasions when I'm using GPS tracking apps out in the open for 5-6 hours, broadcasting my location to a website, hooking it up to the external pack (mine is in fact a New Trent one, 5000mah) means it won't drain unexpectedly. That is, with 5000+1260mah combined!
The battery pack provides a "full" charge in about 2 hours, that is just like a mains charger (it is rated up to 1amp output, providing of course whatever amperage the device pulls).
That pack might be a solution for the battery problem, but I still don't think it's enough. I don't think that you should have to buy a portable power pack just for your phone battery to last. The whole point of mobile phones is that you have access to a medium of communication in a remote location. By not making the battery life long on a phone, I reckon HTC are actually limiting its main use. But that's just my 2 cents, and it does depend on how people like to use their phones.

You must love the 1240Ma battery that comes with the phone.
You've enabled USB Debugging, yeah? I get 2 days, and I work in the middle of nowhere. The phone polls for a new cell constantly while I'm in my office.
If signal is good in your area, tell the phone to use GSM or WCDMA exclusively. Otherwise it will switch to whichever has the better signal, which can be problematic is you're in an area with good / poor coverage of both technologies.
I think the polling thing might be a big battery killer. I shall try that.
I friend of mine in the office, use to have a Sony smart phone that barely lasted a day and thats on standby. He ditched that for a DHD. His battery now lasts 4 days plus, with minmal use! Mine on ther other hand with minimal use can give 2days at most.
The difference is that he is on ORANGE and I am on T-Mobile. It must be down to signal strength because he use to be on THREE and the signal strength was very poor at his home location.
BTW, I find that Juice Defender does help and switiching off Flash in the browser.
This charger and the USB-Batteries are the best inventions ever
It would be great if this phone got accessory support like the fruit phone does. An extended battery case would be the most optimal solution to this problem but I haven't heard of any out there yet

using a non-original battery could have detrimental effects on your phone. there was a discussion on this on the forum of another phone. using a non-original battery could lead to leaks and other problems which would eventually lead to the warranty of your phone being voided.
stick with original motorola products. yes the battery might be very underpowered, but its the safest bet to ensure the longevity of ur phone
With a non original battery, the battery indicator of your phone shows a interrogation symbol. Also, it does not charge with the phone charger.

I personally have used seidio for my milestone and it works like a charm, its the extended 2800mah one it really performs like it should and not like how a lot of people claim thats its way less than stock! It does not always read it correctly but a quick reboot fixes that, like 50% after reboot would usually be about 70-80%. They way i used to use my phone (light to moderate level) would last about 2-3 days but after the extended I got twice that and some more. Just make sure you get stuff from the original manufactures either way and don't go for deals at amazon or whatnot as those guys might be selling either defected or not proprely stored stuff. Batteries are critical components don't go cheap on them! And no, my phone has not been messed up or had any leaks or anything and I have this for about 3-4 months now. The original battery degraded in about 6months if you have to compare.
That sounds promising, does the battery need to be charged with an external charger? And does the milestone complain that you are not using the official bettery

reebooting your phone to get the exact picture also works on the standard battery. my question is, does the back part which houses the battery heat up when used? does the phone get hot during charging? do you need a new battery cover for it? and besides the longer usability, have you noticed any other performance issues on the phone?

Actually the rebooting to get the exact picture is not the same here, a jump to 20-30% on a stock battery? I don't think so. No I never encountered any odd behavior with the other battery. No getting extra hot during charge or use, get the typical little bit of heat while using 3G and browsing like mad but that would happen on the stock battery too. Battery cover for a 2800? of course, that stuff is huge! its protrudes like mad! a quick heads up though, the extended battery for the milestone 1 and 2 can use the same extended batteries. Don't know about the droid x though. Anyways, no performance issues, no heat while charging. The back covers supplied by these after market guys are not the best quality though so if you are someone who loves dropping phones and what not would recommed getting a spare back cover from the guys you get the batts from.

No, I use my original charger and no complains or warnings by the phone. Not on the milestone 1 at least. In fact some times i use my ipod's adapter so no big issue. And it charges at the same pace as the stock, additional 1 hour or whatever. restart the phone to getting a proper reading as it shows 100% but upon restart its 70-80% since only the stock level is charged. I hear this app called battery left does great for calibration.
ALSO a thing to note, I only know of Seidio and Mugen to be relialbe after market battery guys hence their hefty pricing at times. The others claiming to have bigger batteries have cheated people with stickers and what not and usually end up underperforming and degrading considerably faster than burning paper! I remember 1USD batteries for nokias back in the day good for a quick one time run i suppose but these 1USD guys are now selling them with a better branding for like 20-40 USD.
Anyways Sedio and Mugen have facebook profiles and keep people posted on the latest on devices usually there, although its kind of sad since seidio have not followed through promised products at times.

Cool but as I suggested try and get them off the manufactures themselves as I have noticed some people complaining when purchased via 3rd party retailers.
Also another bud of mine had picked up one for the Nexus one, that phones back cover is a full one unlike the moto's and he too can vouch for the products positive performance. Either ways also check out some reviews from amazon.com for peace of mind.

is the battery meter being shown or are you getting an error message because i would like to buy one
No complaints from the phone about it being the incorrect battery the battery has been charged within/by the phone no external charger required. I got the 1500mah version from mobilefun I doubt it will give much more performance but will see.

After my first day of use I got around 11 hours of use before reaching 5%. Here are the usage statistics at 15%

Wifi was on most of the time, I was using my phone for the usual things. Occasionally checking socialfeeds, engadget, xda every hour or so and internet browsing I played 10 minutes of angry bids. Updated some apps and downloaded a few new ones.
Overall not a significant increase in battery life maybe an hour or so more from what I am used to.
