I only use 3 home screens and would like it so that when I press home (when I'm on page 1 or 3 for example) it takes me to the middle screen. Currently it takes me to the 3rd screen and it's driving me crazy. Even when I add a4th screen then it goes to the 4th. Has anyone found a way to set which screen to make the default?

There is already a thread on T-Mo's forums. Looks to be a bug, it always goes to page 4 regardless of how many pages you have.
My solution was just to add all the pages back and just leave the outside pages blank

Hi, there's something I'd like to check and I hope you guys can help me if you're running Google's stock ROM, as opposed to any other ROM like Cyanogen's.
You know how the home screen has 5 spaces, right? if you go to spaces 1, 2, 4 or 5 (that is, any space but the central one) and launch an app from there, then use the home button to leave the app? Does it take you to the space you originally were at, or to space 3?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

It brings me back to space 3 (home screen)
Yup takes you back to the main home screen 3, although the dots on the bottom left and right are in the position they were when the app was launched, that started happening after the OTA update.
Trying to root and install a custom rom when i get to spring break and have some free time.
The Home button is to go to the home screen (that is the 3rd screen).
To exit from the app I use the left arrow button (the first one on the left) and I go back to the screen I was before launching the app.

Mine does the same thing. The dots are not correct. Also some times it will show a blank home screen [none of mine are blank] until I swipe left or right. Weird.

I am noticing this very same behavior on mine since the update ran as well. Nice to know that it isn't just me.
edit - I hate misspelling words.

I wonder if it's anything the devs of the ROM can do. ~shrug~
Lol about misspelling. I hate it too. Since Chrome came out I have greatly improved my common spelling errors. [red underline > right click ftw]
I have 3 tabs on my homescreen 1, 2, and 3. Right now when I press home button it goes to tab 3, how can I make tab 2 as the default?
Am I making any sense? LOL
I am trying to figure this out too. This is possibly my biggest gripe with the phone yet. I have been through the settings over 20 times looking for this option but haven't found anything. Samsung needs to fix this with a firmware update. It just doesn't make sense. Who in the hell would want the last page to be there home screen? Everyone knows it's supposed to be the middle.
Personally I got annoyed and just removed all my home screens other than one. Yeah I know it defeats the purpose, but I figured its not worth the annoyance living rent free in my head.
Yeah I got annoyed pretty quickly with this. I just put all the screens back. Then I switched to launcher pro.

It wants to use #4 as home. If there is no #4, it uses #3, and so on.
So delete home screens from the ends.
Instead of using 1,2, and 3. use screens 3,4, and 5. Give that shot.

tried this before with no luck. i just put all 7 screens back and use the middle 3
After hitting the back button in the Xoom browser, it doesn't return to where I was on the previous page scroll-wise. It will always go to the top. This is quite annoying in forums and the like.
All i've done is changed the user agent to: Desktop.
Any ideas?
I have noticed this as well and it bothers me as I am spoiled from my inspire 4g. It does it perfectly and even resizes the text when I blow it up. Hopefully it will be fixed in a future update.

Same behavior in Market
Sorry, a little out of topic.
I hope they fix that same behavior in the Market; when you go back to search results it starts from the beginning all over again. That really ruins the apps search experience. It should at least save state for a while.
Yeah it drives me nuts with the market place

Market!!!!
i was thinking the same thing. the market drives me nuts. i always have to scroll through a million apps to get back to where i was. and also i notice with the browser, there is no way to skip to the bottom of a page. like how you have on a normal broswer a scroll bar at the right. so for example if i am on a page like a forum with a long list of comments, i have to scrool throught the entire page before i get to the bottom, especially if you go back, when it already doesn't remember where you was. it makes it harder on my fingers, cuz i have to scroll a million times to get to the bottom of the page. very annoying google, very..
Anyone else try out these slide-out browser quick controls?
I 'love' them. I turned them on a few days after getting the tab and havent looked back.
How about you?
To enable this feature for the stock browser go to settings - labs - quick controls and make sure the box it ticked. Now in the browser, slide in from the side and a wheel of sorts will pop out with all your controls.
Very slick feature.
I have been using them since day one. Love it.
Yes, they're handy once you get the hang of them.
Very nice, thanks for sharing that tip!

Where is this? Dont have an entry for "labs" under "settings"?
Settings in the browser, not general setting on the tablet. Top right corner in the browser.
I think it actually comes enabled by default on the Xoom; needless to say it was refreshing to see when I first started using the tablet. Using the menu in the upper right hand corner is not as user friendly.
The only thing I have noticed is that it is difficult to initiate controls with the acer case, because the edge comes right up to the screen. I usually have to attempt the gesture a couple of times in order for the controls to come up.

I've never had that problem. Simply slide your finger 'into' the screen, from the bezel. Works like a charm every time and I love how it appears at the exact position your finger made the sliding motion into the page, rather than a single static location.
If I had one feature request, it would be 1 more button you could use to hold it as a handle to slide the wheel up or down the side, and tap it to pin it or unpin it.
Heh - didn't even know this existed until I saw this thread. Not sure I like it though - I usually close the last tab to close the browser (since back makes you step through all pages viewed and home would leave it open.)

How do you close the browser with last tab? The tab disappears and browser turns full screen everytime specially when there's only one tab left. I find it hard to bring the tab to appear again.

funny I know... I open up a new blank one... close the last one and then hit the back button to close the whole thing out... he he... I woudn't mind if the tabs were up there all thetime or use a quick menu to pop it up and down...
You can actually just do a long press on the webpage and it will bring up the tabs at the top, then you can close them.

That's how I do it right now, but sometimes it selects the text for copy/paste instead of displaying the tab. You really have to find an empty spot on the browser page to make it work. Adding a new tab and closing, then closing the last tab requires a really fast finger to catch the last tab. Sometimes I'm slow to click on the last tab and it just hides again. How I wish the default browser has an option to exit, similar to Dolphin browser.
Why the desire to have an exit, to hide the porn your surfing?
Keeping the browser in memory is useful, because that is alot of what I use this thing for.

I'm having an odd problem with Chrome in this phone that I didn't with the One X. After a page has completely loaded if I rotate the screen, almost half the screen is black before it renders it. If going to upright, the bottom half is black and if going to sideways the right side is black. Doesn't happen with the stock browser.

just released a new version today. did you try it?
Yep, still doing it.
This is one of the reasons I've been looking forward to getting this phone, so I can use Chrome and sync with my PC. Anybody else having this problem?
No issues here
Maybe a similar problem here... when i rotate my screen, it scrolls to a totally different part of the web page. I have to go hunting to find out where i was on the page after rotation.

What do you want to sync with Chrome? The stock browser asks you to sign in to Google then gets all your history and bookmarks from Chrome already.
