I'm just trying to enter recovery console. I have tryed EVERY button combination & used a computer to just did use SDK. Any help would be GREAT ! Thank you
Just to make sure: you need to release the button at the right time.
Turn off your phone and take out the battery for 5 sec then put the battery back. Then hold power+vol up + vol down together and once you see the Vibrant logo, release the power button immediately WHILE pressing vol up+vol down.
That didn't work tryed 3 times.

Have you tried via adb:
adb reboot recovery
I had difficulty getting to recovery when I reflashed the stock ROM via ODIN. But once it was rooted and I got Clockwork Recovery back on there, I haven't had an issue via the button combination t get into recovery.
I will try that thx for the info.

I was on the same boat as you. I just gave up and did the one-click root process. It wasn't exactly one-click, but it was simple enough. Now I've got the Clockwork ROM manager, which will let you boot into its recovery through the application itself.
I downloaded the one click lag fix app that roots your phone & fix the lag but I just can't get into recovery mode.

I was in the same boat then read to do the 3 button thingy but do not let go of anything until the 2nd time the word vibrant comes up then let go of everything...after hours of frustration,i can't believe how easy it was....not sure why this tip is not in a sticky or easily found on xda.

that does not seem to work. I am pretty sure the newer models have this disabled somehow.
Not true, I just bought my vibrant yesterday and I can get into recovery console just fine...

What date code is on your vibrant box? I am on my second phone both built in august and the buttons do not work on either. I had to root via adb recovery. The earlier built phones are rumored to be fine. Dosent seem to matter when you got the phone more when it was made.
My first Vibrant got into recovery no problem, I received a replacement phone which would not get into recovery using the hardware buttons. I called T-Mobile and told them of the problem and they sent me out a new phone. This last one boots into recovery first try. I know there is a common problem with some Vibrants out there not booting into recovery, thankfully T-Mobile will exchange if it won't.
Let me check when I get back home. Is this a t-mobile acknowledged issue with vibrants now?

When mine gets finicky, I just plug it to my Windows machine, Enable USB Debugging, open the command prompt, and type "adb reboot recovery" without quotes. Works every time. You can also use "adb reboot download" to get into download mode.

For what it's worth, this helped me.
Hold volume up, volume down, and power all together, wait for Vibrant to come for the second time, then let go of the power button but not the menu button. After another second, I let go of the volume buttons and instantly went into recovery.
Good luck.
I tried terminal and it said it was not permitted

Someone on the I9000 boards posted that recovery can also be invoked by heat! He used an oven, but suggested a hair dryer to be safe.

I agree with this one. My Vibrant has a date of 8/14/10, and for the life of me it will not button into recovery. I really have read every thread on the topic here as well as other android forums, and tried every combination (over and over).
Rooting was a no brainer with one touch, and with that, I can get to recovery easily. The problem I see, is in the event of a miss step somewhere down the line.
I can't tell you the relief that I felt doing a battery pull to button recovery with my G1(many times). When you are in a bootloop or the like, and nothing else will work, you just need that capability.
Sadly, my Vibrant will be going back because of this. I don't understand why they would hobble the devise this way. I'm sure they will get many more phones returned because of it.
You need to type su first.
From terminal:
su
reboot recovery

Hi
I know this has been asked before, and I have read for hours.
But, this is like a big problem now.
I have installed HSPL 2.08 and aMAGDLR 1.13.
Something has gone wrong somewhere, and the phone uses one night to boot up any android version. It load over the night .
So, I want to flash in HSPL and MAGDLR again.
I do not have any WPH installed, so I cant get active sync running to flash.
So I need to go into bootloader. THIS I CANT DO!
I have tried like 100 times. Nothing works.
I have tried holding voldown pressing end call or red reset button. Always the white HTC-screen comes on, and enters MAGDLR, and if I still holds voldown, it scrolls down the whole menu.
Actualle I have gotten in booloader one time, but then I was not prepeard for it, and had to turn off again.
I know that my battery is quite poor. Can this have anyting to do with this?
Can I go into bootloader from inside android?
What can I do?
Remove battery,
Push and hold volume down,
Put battery back,
Press power and hold volume down.
And you are in bootloader

To make it clear volume down as to be hold pushed all the time until you get into bootloader.
Hope this helped you.
If it did, give me a thanks

Okay try this :
Remove battery,
With left hand press and hold volume down,
With the other hand you put the battery back in and press AND hold the power button, so power and volume pressed and hold, wait until you see the bootloader.
This will work (at least it worked on my phone 1min ago)
Sent from my HTC HD2 using xda premium
Also, when you're on MAGLDR .. Can you navigate through the options up and down? If not, then unfortunately you have broken volume rockers .

And if this does not work? Onlt thing that happens, is it vibrates, white screen with htc-logo and in to MAGDLR.
I have rootet many HTC phones before, not HD2, but hero and desire, and never had problems like this.

Some times, Bent Battery Pins can cause unpredictable issues (However, I have not seen one like this.).
You may want to check your battery pins, straighten them delicately if they are (even a little) bent.
You could try sd card flash method?

Why does my MAGDLR show aMAGDLR? This "a", is it suppose to be there?
yes, the "a" is normal .. did you check the battery pins?

Its possible that a task 29 and reflash would work. My home and back button stopped working and it worked itself out.

But to perform task29, dont I need to go to bootloader first?
same here
have the same problem. I can get into MAGDLR and I can move up and down the menu. I can install via DFT but I can't get into bootloader and I can't get into CWM. it is rather strange and I have not found a solution yet.
If I try option 8 (AD Recovery) I get - No Boot Sources

Yes you do. To get back you shut the phone off and while turning it back on hold the vol. Button down. Then do a task29. download the tool to your PC from the link below. Boot into the tricolor screen and start working. Install Task29, install magldr, install recovery, install rom from zip from recovery. :-D. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783 pm me if you have any questions.

Basically, thats whats going on. I've followed instructions on various threads, tried everything. The phone simply will not boot into recovery no matter what I try. Is there anything left I can do?
Let it sit for a day and try again. It worked for me many times in the past. Sometimes Odin would recognize my phone that wasn't even in a download mode.

try to odin back to stock
1. Start Odin
2. Plug USB cable into pc
3. Power off the Phone.
3. Pull the Battery.
5. Plug USB cable into Phone.
6. Press and Hold: Volume UP + Volume DOWN + Power, all at the same time.
7. Re-insert the battery.
8. The phone will power now, when the screen starts a cycle of going to a BLACK screen, release ONLY the POWER button.
9. When you see the download icon release the volume buttons,
10. Odin back to stock by putting the PIT file into the appropriate area and the .tar in the PDA area.
Or try that same method without holding the power button, just the volume rocker (up and down) when plugging into usb that works for some ppl
The vibrant is tough to hard brick so keep trying
With the new roms out I am trying them all. But when I try to restore my rom volume down and power my phone just restarts. What am I doing wrong? Also when I try to make a nandroid back up with vol dn and power I dont see that option. I do have rom manager on my phone Ive been told to not trust rom manager so Im trying to do it manually but?
After removing and reinserting your battery you're pressing volume down and power (at the same time) until it you see the white HTC screen?

Go into Menu*Settings*power and tick off Fast Boot and you wont have to do a battery pull anymore, then you can power down then got into hboot. But i bought the best app ever, called reboot scheduler and i use that as a 4-1 reboot since we dont have it on the doubleshot :-/

I had this when running TWRP and if I remember you hold the "off" button down until it starts to reboot and then quickly hold the up button while it's rebooting.
You may be able to just hold the start and up button at the same time then turn the start button loose when you see the logo.
Again; I can't remember exactly what I did but it's safe to say to device is not broken.
One note: I was never able to get TWRP to run correctly (consistently) on this device without at least some issues.
I use CMR with no problems.
Also when I had this problem i had to do a complete wipe to get completely into download mode...
Good luck...

That's correct! it will auto restart so you have to get your timing right. Try holding down the start button and as soon as the screen goes blank release the start button and grab the up button..
