Nexus One Galaxy Live Wallpaper...... - Vibrant General

I've looked high and low and can't seem to find the Nexus One Galaxy Live Wallpaper that I've seen on Galaxy S videos. It's not included in the Galaxy S Live Wallpaper APK that is on XDA and google has failed me for this.
Does anyone know where I can find the apk to install the spinning galaxy wallpaper that was released on the Nexus One?
Thanks.

try scouring the nexus one threads, i think all the lwp's for the nexus one should work for the vibrant

Like the person who started this thread, I'm in search of the famed Nexus One Galaxy Live Wall Paper to install on the Vibrant.
I've been scouring all 5 Samsung Galaxy and Nexus One threads for no less than an hour and a half, but not quite 2hrs, and yet, needless to say, I can't find it.
I moved on to Google thinking I would have better luck, but I'm finding less relevant results. For instance, the fake Apple java version of the Galaxy "live wallpaper' that's really just spinning an image. Boo.
Now, perhaps the problem lies in method of search I'm using or within the search terms themselves...
Nexus One Galaxy Wallpaper
Nexus One Galaxy Wall Paper
Nexus One Galaxy Live Wallpaper
Nexus One Galaxy Live Wall Paper
Nexus One Galaxy LWP
Nexus Galaxy Wallpaper
Nexus Galaxy Wall Paper
Nexus Galaxy Live Wallpaper
Nexus Galaxy Live Wall Paper
Nexus Galaxy LWP
Galaxy LWP
Galaxy Wallpaper
Galaxy Wall Paper
Galaxy Live Wallpaper
Galaxy Live Wall Paper
Unfortunately for me the Samsung is also known as the 'Galaxy' so I'm getting lots of results with 'Galaxy' in signatures, and forums where someone says "Gee I'd like that wallpaper for my Galaxy" and other worthless nonsense like that.
So my first question is: Has the Nexus One Galaxy Live Wallpaper been dumped, ported installed & confirmed working for the Vibrant?
If not, there's no need to continue past this line. Thank you for reading and I'll keep my eyes peeled.
If so...
If you have a link to the actual post that contains the Nexus One Galaxy LWP, assuming it truly does exists somewhere in these forums, I would greatly appreciate the link.
If you have the link but aren't interested in linking me to the actual post, but you know with certainty it exists, please offer some advice on how to properly craft my search terms to yield what I'm looking for?
Many thanks.

Try downloading an N1 rom and then just rip it from there.

I have now started using the Galactic Core Live wallpaper. It's in the market if you donate, or you can find a previous version on the internet to dl the .apk from. It's a spinning galaxy and looks pretty nice.
Personally, I'd love to see a galaxy S type of live paper.

Funny how Samsung didn't include this wallpaper on a phone called "Galaxy".

Is this the one you guys are looking for?

It's included in the original i9000 lwp's.. maybe tmo ripped it out.
EDIT: just pushed over the LiveWallpapers.apk from i9000 to /system/app and it's working flawlessly. Just place the attached file on the root of your sdcard and:
code:
mount -o rw,remount -t rfs /dev/block/stl9 /system
busybox cp /sdcard/LiveWallpapers.apk /system/app
Don't even need to reboot, shows up immediately. enjoy

I just rooted my Vibrant a few hours ago, how do you enter that code to install the lwp?

So there's no way to install that Live Wallpaper without rooting?

is this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKchi0eMqeI the wallpaper you guys taking about?

Yep. That's the one.

doesnt a live Wallpaper slow down the phone?

Hmmm...
I just tried this, and no dice, and I'm very familiar with removing touchwiz apps. Are you sure the nexus one 'galaxy' LWP is showing up for you?
Did you remove both LiveWallpapers.apk and LiveWallpapers.odex?
Just trying to figure this out, since I've managed to replace the TW Calendar and messaging apps with stock apps without issue, but no matter what I try with LWP (nexus stock, CM5.0.8, i9000, etc.) I can't get any but the defaults to work.
cheers

no. You must be rooted to do this as the system requires read/write access for you to push to /system. Just root, it's literally painless.. takes bout a min.

no I didn't remove any lwp.apk from the phone, I just copied it from the sdcard to /system/app. also, I took just the lwp.apk, not the .odex u don't need that. this lwp.apk is from the international galaxyS (i9000) so there shouldn't be an issue just make sure your system is mount to obtain read/write access. also run the commands from terminal on the phone vibrant has root but no adb remount permissions

Firmware update lets the Captivate set a homescreen, Vibrant didn't? (port it?)

I just read this thread at Android Forums and confirmed it with my wife's Captivate. Usually in TouchWiz, the homescreen defaults to the far right until you get to 4 screen, then it's always #4. The captivate now has a little home icon so you can set the center screen regardless of how many screens it has.
Did I miss something or did we just not get that option? If not, can it be ported to the Vibrant?
If anyone knows how to do that and needs a file or package to look at, let me know which one and I'll upload it.

This is touchwiz30launcher.apk from captivate. It is modified by GTG in the captivate forum.
modified twlauncher
I have tested this on my girlfriend's vibrant, and it is working, and eugene has also incorporated it into his jpo froyo rom. Since this works, theoretically any captivate TouchWiz30Launcher.apk should work on vibrant.
Cool, thank you for that.
I still think it's lame that Samsung didn't provide the same features to every Galaxy S device. I wrote them an email. That'll show 'em!
Dur. This doesn't work on 2.1 I guess. Force closes all around. Good thing I'm obsessive about making backups.

So, I found that the build.prop trick from the Captivate forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819721 , will work on my Vibrant and gives me access to:
Asphalt 5
Vlingo
Robert Parker
Krazy Kart Racing
And This Day In History, which I already had access to
My question is, does anyone know if there are more apps that I didn't get access to? I heard mention of a newer task manager but didn't see it in the list.

I actually wonder about this...I mean do you need to be rooted? And if you changed the Vibrant build to the original i9000 Galaxy S build wouldn't that make the apps that are made to work with the Vibrant stop working(or something like that)?
Well, I downloaded them then switched back to my original build.prop and everything works, new apps from samsung, and my old apps.

Netflix for Android Launched Officially

According to the announcement, the Nexus S (which is a Galaxy S with a curved screen, NFC, and GB) is supported for streaming, even though it's supposed to only be available for Snapdragons, and not yet for Hummingbird.
Anyone manage to snag the APK yet? It won't let me install from the Market, even though even Google thinks I'm running a Nexus S (when in reality, it's just a Fascinate with CM7).

Using that version of the app just gives you a message saying the phone is unsupported for streaming. Would changing the ID of the device in the build.prop or something similar be enough to fool Netflix?

Please share if you get this working.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076260
If I can get my hands on the build.prop from either the Nexus S on AT&T or the Nexus S 4G, then I might be able to figure out the pertinent tweaks to make the Fascinate appear as either of those to the app when it tries to stream.
If it runs and streams on the NS, then the purported hardware limitation that was supposed to be there doesn't exist, and they're implementing the device lockout entirely in software. This means it will be easy to hack around, and probably be able to do so cleanly without hammering any important settings for the phone.
Edit: The Incredible (and presumably, by extension, the Thunderbolt) is supported, so it's not a carrier lockout, either. This tells me that it's only software, which is heartening.

Ok, so I was in the virus kingdom rom thread and seen this asked a couple of times.
I found this info on another site, I'll past the link in a few but here are the instructions...
So how’s it done? Well, the instructions are actually fairly straightforward, and come courtesy of tipster/redditor natemckn:
Root is required. Make a Nandroid backup! (I accidentally deleted by build.prop file and bootlooped my phone)
Download ES File Explorer (Or any other root file editor)
In ES File Explorer, go into Setting > Root Settings and enable both check boxes
Navigate to /system/ and copy/paste build.prop to /sdcard/ (just in case)
Open & edit /system/build.prop
Change the following lines to make your phone think it is a HTC G2:
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.brand=tmobile
ro.product.name=vision
ro.product.device=vision
ro.product.board=vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
Reboot the phone
Install the netflix apk (if you haven’t already)
Enjoy
Update: Apparently you don’t need to do the lines that are crossed out in Step 6 – only the product model and manufacturer need to be changed. Also, it appears that this is hit-or-miss at the moment. Works for some, partially (but not really) for others.
Heres the link,, if its not clickable its because I'm doing this from my phone, so copy and paste.

Afaik, our cm7 builds are missing a lot of codecs... this could be part of your video problems.

* The Netflix app runs on these phones:
1. HTC Incredible with Android 2.2
2. HTC Nexus One with Android 2.2, 2.3
3. HTC Evo 4G with Android 2.2
4. HTC G2 with Android 2.2
5. Samsung Nexus S with Android 2.3.
Thank you for repeating the information that we already know.
We're aware of the devices it works on, we're trying to make our devices masquerade as one of those in an attempt to get streaming working.
Not much luck so far. Time to work now. Might hack on it some more tonight.
The apk running around here doesn't work, either. At least not on 2.2.
Ok, so I said I was going to quit, but it's just too juicy.
Here's what I've found:
Work on Nexus S with GB. The NS is identical to the rest of the Galaxy S line from a hardware standpoint (with the exception of the NFC and curved screen, which have nothing to do with things). The only difference between them is the software.
Some more digging revealed that the key difference in a device working or not working is the Stagefright media framework, which is supposed to be the stock setup in 2.2, but OEMs mostly felt like they needed to hack it out in favor of their own stuff.
So... To get this working on the Fascinate, we need one of the following:
1. A CM7/AOSP GB build with working video codecs (we're almost there on that point)
2. A CM6/AOSP FroYo build with Stagefright media framework in place.
3. A custom ROM with the Stagefright framework hacked in.

4. A Samsung GB leak. Don't laugh -- now that i9000 GB is final, it's already official for the GSM Tab, and the Epic has a leak (now two) as well. US Galaxy S models running Touchwiz GB have run Netflix with no problem.

With an att phone, u return it to att, not samsung. All newer Samsung phones have a flash counter that logs every time its been modified software wise so if it's been rooted, they can tell, the warranty is void, and if something is legitimately wrong with it, you get ****. In fact, you will still be on the hook for your contract so either cough up 550$ for a new phone or $350 to back out of the contract. Maybe they will catch it, maybe not but that's a pretty expensive gamble to take

The flash counter was implemented on samsung phones since the tab so it's very new and AFAIK, only samsung does it. Up to now, someone who knew what they were doing would have to make a determination if the phones software was tampered with, this system does not need anyone to make that determination. It will be no different than the moisture sensor...

There is a flash counter on the SGS2 as well and Chainfire was able to figure out a way to reset it (Triangle Away app). I'm sure it will be possible with this phone too eventually.

Themers beware

If you are like me, and the biggest joy you get from owning an Android phone is theming your phone until it is totally badass and unmistakably yours, then you are going to want to wait on the Note 4.
I got mine the other day, rooted, and began tearing into apks. Here's what I images I found in the drawables:
1) a whole bunch of .astc images (ARM)
2) A lot of .qmg files (Samsung)
3) a few .9's you can work with
4) 0 png images.
You can do limited themes on them. But nothing great. Until someone figures out how to extract/compile these new formats, the only way to do full themes is to port apks from other devices. I am disappointed in what can be accomplished with them so far. I may end up trading for an S5 or Note 3.
qmg's arent new, they are older than android itself.

It's alot of work, but you csn certainly cover all this pkm or other files, to PNGs or jpegs, by deleting the original files, and swapping it out with the image you want. Yes, it's alot of work but once you got a base, its an easy port for newer versions and such
No need to down grade your device, cause all Samsung devices are seeing this transfer in newer files in all apks, cause Samsung is trying to cut down the file sizes. So no matter which way you go, you'll run into this issue! No fun for sure!

Just wanted to jump in and say I'm called to see you here on the Note 4 reverepats! Big fan of your work and themes on the S4! Sounds like it's going to be a bit rougher this time around but I can't wait to see what you come up with!

I am sticking with it. It is coming slowly but surly. It is hard to determine some of the image files that need to be replaced, because I can't view them. So a little guess work involved
Hey kevin, how did u rip the apk apart?

I use apktool. If you need the tools, and want to pick some tips and tricks, @Bubbajoe40356 has a great tutorial here.

Just put them back as png images. It will compile and run with pngs. They don't need to be .qmg or .astc. you can also replace the chrome images with pngs.
