Loss of Good Developer/Future Prevention Thread Only

Ok everyone. I dont want to sound like a bad guy here or be redundant if someone else said it already but I havent seen it yet. This needs to be said. Look at what you all are saying. The majority of posts on the forum are saying (paraphrased), "Hey I am sorry that Haykruo had to go and you guys suck for making him go... btw where is the rosie rom?" That is the core of the issue here people. Who cares about the damn rom? Who cares if we even ever get it. Thats not the point.
When you are a dev here you give of yourself wholly. You have nothing to gain except the respect of others here. I am not a rom dev but I am a developer and I do know what its like to be in one of these devs positions. Haykuro trusted certain people who misused that trust. We know that already. But he also trusted all of you who downloaded and used his roms. He trusted you to not be pushy. He trusted you to respect his wishes of being quiet (shhhh thread ring a bell), of being respectful to the man who has given so much. Its not one person's fault. It's the entire community's fault. If we don't want this to happen again then there is a simple way of preventing it.
Give the devs their time. From what I could tell Haykuro spent every minute he wasnt at work, working on these roms. Give the devs time and respect, don't be pushy and if they trust you with something then respect their wishes.
Just my two cents but that's the only way to prevent this from happening again. Haykruo's loss is a real one. The community will feel it. Maybe someone will step in his place maybe someone wont. But mark my words if someone does and we don't learn from this and be respectful to the new devs we will lose them too.
One more time I want to thank you Haykuro. You truly are a man of honor. Just take care of yourself man.

ok heres a few ideas that will hopefully prevent a developer leaving like the hero haykuro
1. stop asking for roms..it is just a bonus if we get an updated rom, that improves the performance and makes the ui nicer
2. if you are lucky enough to get 2 try a new rom out dont leak it. hes gave u the rom through trust dont break that trust.
3. give the developers a break....they cant work on new roms all the time..they have there own personal lifes aswell
4. donate.....the developers are doing it in there free time...they dont need to improve the phone but they do for the likes of us(the forum) fair enough if you cant afford to donate just thank the developer.
finally i hope haykuro will still be in and out the forum...from all the roms hes made hes a living legend.

ive only read half into the bust up with haykuro and whatever his name was....so if im correct did he leak the hero rom w/ rosie ui? and that caused the bust up?

From what I understand, HardDaez promised Haykuro a ROGERS ROM that Haykuro could work on. In return, Haykuro gave HardDaez the Hero rom w/ Rosie. The ROGERS rom turned out to be fake, and HardDaez leaked the Rosie ROM. Haykuro has every right to be upset.

And where is the Rosie ROM? I only see the hero ROM without rosie.

so the build he leak was unstable and was bricking peoples phones so it was pulled from the servers and when info got out the hardeaz wasn't suppose to release the build the threads was closed immediately

Steve, Haykuro worked extremely hard making so many roms for us in a very short time. No one gave him a break. Many people kept demanding more and more from him, leaving him little time to study. He was working on hero, Ion, Magic, and other stuff all at once while he was trying to study and work. Then they kept asking him for the Rogers rom. It seems like so many people were asking for so many roms, all at once, like he could just pull them out of his hat and they would magically appear.
He was trying to please everyone at once, then, when hard daez promised him the rogers rom, he screwed Haykuro over.
I have been following these threads, and I saw a lot of adoration for Haykuro, but I also saw a lot of people demanding things from him, and saying he wouldn't deliver if he didn't have something ready for them as soon as they demanded it. I also saw a lot of people trying to start trouble when the dude began making roms, even though both Haykuro and the dude kept saying publicly that they were working together. I also saw other things in these threads that would try anyone's patience.
Calm down, and wait. Hopefully, after Haykuro gets through school, and gets a break from the hectic schedule he has kept up trying to do what he needs to do in his personal life, as well as mod all of those different roms for us, he will reconsider. I'm not saying that no one else here can do what Haykuro can do, but he was very very good at what he did. I also don't think it's fair to start asking other devs to give you Rosie before things settle down a little, and Haykuro has a chance to take a break. He is the one who did the most work on hero, and we should give him a chance to decide what to do.
Possibly he will decide to work on this again, even if he does it through his own site rather than here.
Just enjoy what he has done for us, and wait for a week or two, but please don't be demanding. (I don't mean to sound mean or nasty, and I don't want to sound like I am flaming you. I'm just stating what everything here looked like to me).

This Thread needs a new title or it will get locked and deleted, and I don't want that XDA users deserve better then not knowing what in the world is going on w/ hero, Plz rename to "Loss of Good Developer/Future Prevention Thread Only" so we can talk about this and not get locked.

Oh and yeah, i think he should reconsider but minus the user input, start his own site where he can post his roms but not have to listen to user input, just bugfix and preinstalled apk request only, he need to go back to what always did, making himself happy first..and if someone else likes it then so be it...then he can cut out the XDA drama, i love this community for my JUNO my friends WING's and the G1 and soon to be my Touch Pro 2, or maybe even my Bigfoot, when they come out...I love changing what my phone can do...and these awesome devs only make it possible, so i hope Haykuro comes back or I'll cry in my pillow! I loved his progress even when i wasn't on his rom, the rom i was on was affected by his roms w/ remix's using his stuff...loved it all...i don't wanna close my eyes...i don't wanna miss one thing...the sweetest dream will never do! i'll still miss you steve, and i don't wanna miss a thing!

I agree. This thread needs to stay so that we can make sure that this doesn't happen again. Your idea of a title was a very good one. If this thread gets locked, or burried somewhere where no one can see it, it will serve no purpose.
A lot of the devs here are getting fed up with all the garbage, and we are losing them. Those of us who aren't devs are guests here. We are using their stuff, on their forum, and we need to clean up our act.

Dont wish to sound an idiot but does anyone have this new leaked rom?

I usually just lurk around XDA, but I've always appreciated the work of not only Haykuro, but of any developer who takes time out of their life to improve the G1 experience. I think this thread is a fantastic idea.

I missed all the stuff that happened last night, but have caught up now. As you may know I have been arranging for Haykuro Donation Apps to go up on the market. He gave the final ok last night (before the **** went down) and they went up this morning. It doesn't mater if he never does any Rom cooking again, I thank him for what he has done and hope that these apps can be some kind of payback for that.

I fail to see how your post addresses the problem of the loss of good developers. I could be mistaken but didn't JF and Haykuro leave precisely because the dev forum got swamped by leech-centric posts... much like yours?

Not leeching just wanting just a good explanation, hopefully this thread will get update more and more to help stop exacly that leeching trolling and bugging devs, and more helping the community in whole, i like anyone on this thread want to get his grubby hands on Hero, but we need to start going about this all the right way and not bug and upset devs, you wouldn't interupt a painter while he is painting and be like..."you done yet?" bad idea, but you could ask to watch the painter at work (via twitter) which we already got and still weren't happy...geez...or find a better way to interact w/ the dev. (heavy moderation on forums/ off topic and trolling deleted fast) but to delete everything to do w/ HERO on the forums is getting redunkulous that's why we need this thread and a good mod to help keep it alive..to explain what happened and prevent it from ever happenin again (end-users showing devs respect)

[REQUEST] Froyo ROM with Sense?

I know it's possible now since there are Desire and Incredible ROMs running Sense on Froyo, so I'd be very happy if a developer could figure out how to port one of those to the Eris. Obviously they're different screen resolutions (and the Desire is GSM instead of CDMA), but it must be possible. Thank you in advance!

Been around long enough to know no one likes it when people post these types of things. You think some dev hasn't already thought of this? You think his question is going to motivate them? It just clogs up the page.

If a dev has thought about it or has been messing with it, nobody knows about it yet(for the eris at least). Maybe someone who has worked on that type of thing (porting) or others might be interested.

lol...somehow I doubt a joining date of "July 2010" with 3 posts constitutes being "around long enough."

I don't know about everyone else, but I have no problem when someone posts a very benign request. There's nothing wrong with what thenestor did. He made a legit post throwing an idea out there with the hope that the devs would comment on the possibility of doing it.
What I do have a problem with is a new punk user coming in and throwing weight around that he doesn't have. The only problem with this thread is that you posted on it.

umm... that's a LEAKED rom... I believe theres a difference between LEAKED & ROOTED roms..
Once you go onto a leaked rom, you lose root privileges..which is NOT what you want...
Then again, he might just mean that its leaked to everyone else, thereby not really a leak..

please explain? im running a cyanogen Tazz froyo rom and i still have root privileges? is it gonna change if you port it from another devices?

From what I gathered, it's a leaked OTA ROM that has been modified with the superuser apk and such. So it should still allow for root access.

Depends slightly on what's being requested really. Requesting someone make a Sense 2.2 ROM is different from requesting that someone make a Sense 2.2 ROM with X Y and Z added and A B and C removed.
He's not requesting a customized ROM, just asking if someone was doing a Sense 2.2 ROM.

hes asking developers to build a specific rom, regaurdless this is not the place to ask for a rom to be made if you have a request, speak with a devloper in his own thread on a private note, and ask there.
DO NOT CREATE A THREAD TO ASK IF/FOR A ROM TO BE BUILT IN THE DEVELOPER SECTION.

There's only so many builds here. Try reading the thread of a build you might be interested in, try it. If you don't like it, try another. "Best" is very subjective. What's best for you may not be best for someone else. Switching builds is not very time consuming.

The best build is the one you didn't read about... which is all of them. You my friend should stick to windows mobile so you don't have to ask these kind of questions.

I know its frustrating to try to find the best build, and I agree with others there isn't one best build with the variety of android types there are esp with or without sense. But the truth is there is no one solid build. I've tried like ten different ones and all have problems. Hell even a phone with stock android will have problems.
New builds come out almost daily. Figure out if you like sense out not, and find a build that is most stable for you. Then just read forums till you find one where all the reviews seem positive. Don't get in the habit of changing rooms daily though cuz it'll be a pain in the butt to reinstall everything and not much may change in builds each day. Good luck.

haha! I f*cken love it. I can recommend mdeejay's builds and Core's core droid v0.5. Cause it seems you have no idea what your looking for, just start there, learn a few things about it and find out what you want. Many people will disagree with the recommendations given, but that just proves the above points: Everyone's taste is different. Also this is NOT saying mdeejay's and Core's series are the best, just MY recommendation.

Nobody can tell you which is the best built.... you gotta try it yourself! I must say, every built is different and it has its strong point! Give it a try, dont waste their efforts!

look for what you use,
some build do not work with 5mp camera,
some are faster with data transfer
just click on them all, read what's working/not working,

I agree, that a lot of questions shouldn't be asked, because the answers are already somewhere on the forum. This question belongs to the general android forum, but it could be a nice thread, in which experiences from users can be read.
If you like HTC Sense you should use Coredroid 0.5. It has everything working, (camaraflash works properly, handsfree dialing; don't forget to fix the dialing preferences)Important is the right radio, and I experienced, that the Chucky windows ROM's (e.g. Cuckydroid) work fine with it. Some other windows ROM's caused dramatic bad Data connections.

I have no opinion what the 'best' build is, but here is how I go about working out when and what android build to install on my HD2 next.
For each post from a Chef, I read the intructions to see if it works out of the box or if I needed to be adding extra modules / making other changes. Then I read the replies. Are the majority of the replies positive or negative? Does the Chef post replies? Is the Chef active on the forum?
I install builds where the Chef is active on the forum and / or active in the irc chat. Where no additional modules have to be installed. Where the majority of the replies are positive. But that is just me, everyone is different
EDIT: Oh and the obvious one, whether it is sense or vanilla. I choose sense most times.

I agree that if you got nothing to say just ignore the post. No need to come in here and get all over the guy or gal. I for one am glad he posted as I found out all of my data connction problems were due to my ROM. I love the Elegancia ROM's but it seems that Chucky's works much much better at least with my connections. Thanks for the good info. Oh I like the Desire ROM as it was built for a phone very similar to ours, thus it incorporates a lot of HTC goodies. Flashlight, Facebook integration etc.

I had an HD2 before but did not like windows at all and there was not a suitable android release for it so I sold it.
I really liked the phone but was wondering if there is a good android replacement where everything works available for it now?

I use the BOYPPC SHIFTPDA DHD V18 Rom (Desire HD) on my HD and it works perfectly on it.

if you have TMOUS LEO1024 i would check out this ROM. i have found that its pretty much bug free (none that i've found anyway) and a great ROM overall. also a great fast/stable ROM would be RAFDROID HD found here.
if you need a guide on re-installing Android i would check this thread out

I've tried almost all available NAND builds for HD2 and I can say that I found only one stable and fast build which is NexusHD2-Gingerbread".
I've tried those big, ram eaters - HTC SENSE ROM's
The thing that convinced me to install it was obviously HTC Sense, but I realized that it's unless if I am not using it's widgets (facebook, twitter, messages, etc).
But that wasn't the main reason why I left these roms, the main reason was the performance. Booting took much longer than on normal clean non-sense rom, I had to wait until it stabilize itself after each boot (1-2 minutes, htc sense had to load up and other processes). Scrolling wasn't smooth as on clean rom. These roms are more likely designed for 1024mb hd2's because on 512 hd2's it just doesn't fit (i don't know how it works on 1024mb but i guess the same, the only reason why I said it is for 1024mb hd2's was because mostly every htc sense build requires sd parition). The phone did not respond as quick as on clean gingerbread build. I just think that camera is better than on clean rom, pictures looks nice, sharp with good contrast.
I've also tried MUI roms.
These roms are nice and simple, eye catchy UI and advanced settings. Ability to change lots of things such as boot image and sound, custom firewall, etc. everything can be easily found, just few taps, everything is nicely designed.
However it is not as quick as clean rom, it can hang somewhere, and not always completely translated from Chinese to English. You can customize it for your own needs.
Normal clean roms are the best in my opinion.
I've used mostly all different roms, Android and Windows 7, and I always come back to NexusHD2-Gingerbread rom. I think that the only thing that makes me changing this rom is it's simplicity. It is the cleanest rom I ever seen and quickest one (you just need to change home launcher to GOLAUNCHER as it make the phone super fast and responsible, because on standard one scrolling through apps lags).
So I prefer this rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060 thanks to it's fast booting, fast responding and stability.
HTC SENSE ROM's might have better benchmarks but believe me it can't be compared with Clean NexusHD2-Gingerbread rom. Every gameloft game
work flawlessly on it.
It is just my opinion from the experience with those roms.

Do we have to have this same topic re-created and re-cycled every single [email protected]*king day?
Its not hard to use search or go through a couple of pages, Its just pure lazyness to create this topic, pure and simple.

Second vote for Gingerbread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060 It is just great and hassle-free, gave me no trouble of any kind.
As far as threads like this are concerned, I don't see why members can't ask for other members' opinions on what they like or dislike. Of course they can go and check out the available versions by going through the threads and posts, but personal recommendations would be the best way of finding out the outstanding work, rather than waste time going back and forth even after all the reading is done and all the problems are noted. It's not only time consuming, it can be daunting with the amount of information and releases that's out there. Perhaps we should run the best release poll and have it stickied to save time. After that whoever wants to try other things is free to rummage through the section and flash at their heart's desire.

@Gabriel51 your bound to get so many different answers because everyone likes different things as already pointed out
@dawid your right that if you dont use the widgets theres really no point at all so i have to give you that but lets talk about scores for a second. i personally clocked 41.something mflops on RAFDROID HD using linpack, a 2816 quadrant score & vellamo was only 29 points behind the dual core Sensation. now im not saying numbers are everything but you would have to admit thats pretty fast. although i really like the wifi calling feature available on the NexusHD2 ROM which im sadly missing :'( this feature alone is worth flashing that ROM
@TheATHEiST it does seem like this is covered on a daily basis from different people and a search would yeild results if people would ever use it. i will say though in all fairness that i use the search feature everytime im trying to find something but i feel the search function on this site is a little subpar causing it to be difficult at times to find what your looking for. most of the time i dont have any problem at all though.

I'm looking for the most current information on this set-up because as of last Dec. it was not in the cards for me on this phone.
You have something constructive to contribute great! If not STFU!!!

They can, thats not the point, The point is this is the same question, over and over and over, Why create the same topic and ask it again instead of reading one of the other topics? You are going to get just as relevant answers by reading them as you are creating another topic. All topics like this do is clutter the place up.
For example, If I was to get a new device tomorrow, I wouldnt go and create a silly topic like this in my new devices section as its common sense it will have already been asked and answered, Instead I would go and read the topics that already exist and try some roms out for myself. The fun part is learning and adapting.

Then why not do some reading? There is plenty of threads to get you started, All it takes is a couple of mins to look around and get latest info and try some latest roms. There is also plenty of "best" and "most stable" topic already created.

You could search in the Nand development for your answer. Everybody Has their own opinion on a good rom. So do some reading and find your best choice Please be considerate with your Acronyms of speech.

People come to this type of forum for help, some people "troll" looking for an opportunity to open their mouth spread their disease. I don't own the anti-Christ an explanation but I did search using the words in this topic.
There is a no stupid question for most educators and then there are those that expect you to glean through hoards of information in hopes of finding and discerning information relevant to ones needs.
I intend to continue to ask those with knowledge their opinion on topics such as this and those who wish to contribute understand then need to do so.

I've had this argument a few times now. The point is if you all keep creating threads on topics that have already been Answered your making it harder for people to search for their answers because your cluttering up the forums with sh+t. I'm happy to spend some of MY time answering questions but when the op could of simply typed "revert hd2 to stock xda" into Google and found his answer it becomes quite tedious because this question does get asked everyday.
/edit and the op shouldn't be installing custom roms if he doesn't know how to remove them

SKINNED ROM like Miui or any other

Please anyone can help in getting miui or any skinned ui with some inbuilt features. There are tons of close to stock roms.. but no skinned rom and all the those people stay away who just come here to give their so called gyaan that its android one device ..you should have gone with 5x. Please stay away...

If you are trying to port a skinned ui rom yourself people will help you, if you are indirectly demanding developers to make a skinned ui rom then no one will help you.

Why start ANOTHER thread about it when there already exist SEVERAL threads you can read through and add to? If you want a skinned pone, buy a skinned phone! There ar tons of skinned phones available!

There are many users who like miui but most developers love stock experience ....so no miui is available and this post or this thread is a request to them... Not demanding....no one is demanding.... Soooo, let the developers keep their love for stock and try to get "all" those users that like MIUI to learn to become developers instead. Users like yourself. You may be many, but I'm pretty sure you still are a minority. Instead of trying to get people that have chosen the A1 for the specific reason that it is NOT a MIUI (or othe skin) to change it into exactly the thing they want to get away from, try turning to MIUI developers and encourage them to do what you want instead.

Some are there who just wanted a good dual camera setup which only a1 provided that. If u cant help you should keep your mouth closed and ignore the thread. And who are you to question me on this, its just i dont want those same ****ty answers like why you bought a1 instead of mix and i am on a1 bcoz i have financial problems else anyone would have gone with pixel or s9 or iphone. Money matters to me and its not easy to buy a phone just for skinned os and i bought this phone thinking the development of every type of rom would be easy but here we got a/b which hinders the devlopment for miui. Yeah i know its very hard to do but its not impossible

why did you bought this phone in the first place? if you like skinned phone you have other choices, but no so much of you "miui fans" bought MI A1 and then come here and ask fork ports.. buy 5x, or note 5 pro or anything else and dont complain here how u dont like stock. if you obviously bought wrong phone for you then go sell this one add some more money and buy something that will suit your needs, its just sad how you all come here, dont even bother to read or search previously posted topic that are same as you wishes and just opet new one.. learn to do something on your own or just buy things that will work for you out of the box, is it really that much hard???
