There's only so many builds here. Try reading the thread of a build you might be interested in, try it. If you don't like it, try another. "Best" is very subjective. What's best for you may not be best for someone else. Switching builds is not very time consuming.

The best build is the one you didn't read about... which is all of them. You my friend should stick to windows mobile so you don't have to ask these kind of questions.

God not another one

I know its frustrating to try to find the best build, and I agree with others there isn't one best build with the variety of android types there are esp with or without sense. But the truth is there is no one solid build. I've tried like ten different ones and all have problems. Hell even a phone with stock android will have problems.
New builds come out almost daily. Figure out if you like sense out not, and find a build that is most stable for you. Then just read forums till you find one where all the reviews seem positive. Don't get in the habit of changing rooms daily though cuz it'll be a pain in the butt to reinstall everything and not much may change in builds each day. Good luck.

Yeah.....another wonderful post

hahah
haha! I f*cken love it. I can recommend mdeejay's builds and Core's core droid v0.5. Cause it seems you have no idea what your looking for, just start there, learn a few things about it and find out what you want. Many people will disagree with the recommendations given, but that just proves the above points: Everyone's taste is different. Also this is NOT saying mdeejay's and Core's series are the best, just MY recommendation.

Please....... stop....... these....... posts. Can't........ take........ anymore.

Nobody can tell you which is the best built.... you gotta try it yourself! I must say, every built is different and it has its strong point! Give it a try, dont waste their efforts!

Oh f*ck off seriously, can we not start limiting sign ups?

what's the best build guidelines ?
I agree with you all guys, except we can give him tips, afterall.
For exemple:
look for what you use,
some build do not work with 5mp camera,
some are faster with data transfer
just click on them all, read what's working/not working,
forget what you don't like, try what you like.

just click on the little triangle with the exclamation mark on the right upper hand corner of the post to report it to the mods, this will be dealt with quicker.

All you guys are damn obnoxious. What's wrong in giving your opinions to builds rather than having a go at the guy and telling him to try them all out by himself. What a friendly elitist community you are...

I seriously didnt even know the forum had that option. Thanks for the tip!

I agree, that a lot of questions shouldn't be asked, because the answers are already somewhere on the forum. This question belongs to the general android forum, but it could be a nice thread, in which experiences from users can be read.
If you like HTC Sense you should use Coredroid 0.5. It has everything working, (camaraflash works properly, handsfree dialing; don't forget to fix the dialing preferences)Important is the right radio, and I experienced, that the Chucky windows ROM's (e.g. Cuckydroid) work fine with it. Some other windows ROM's caused dramatic bad Data connections.
Good luck, and read a lot!

I have no opinion what the 'best' build is, but here is how I go about working out when and what android build to install on my HD2 next.
For each post from a Chef, I read the intructions to see if it works out of the box or if I needed to be adding extra modules / making other changes. Then I read the replies. Are the majority of the replies positive or negative? Does the Chef post replies? Is the Chef active on the forum?
I install builds where the Chef is active on the forum and / or active in the irc chat. Where no additional modules have to be installed. Where the majority of the replies are positive. But that is just me, everyone is different
EDIT: Oh and the obvious one, whether it is sense or vanilla. I choose sense most times.

I agree that if you got nothing to say just ignore the post. No need to come in here and get all over the guy or gal. I for one am glad he posted as I found out all of my data connction problems were due to my ROM. I love the Elegancia ROM's but it seems that Chucky's works much much better at least with my connections. Thanks for the good info. Oh I like the Desire ROM as it was built for a phone very similar to ours, thus it incorporates a lot of HTC goodies. Flashlight, Facebook integration etc.

Exactly, it doesnt take much to be nice really does it...
The best release I have tried is the xdandroid 2.2
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732362
To be fair though, there hasn't been a properly stable release yet on the touch hd yet but the developers are working on it!
Thanks for the nice replies...
Just because some of us are not on the forums all the time doesn't mean we ask totally stupid questions. Just because you can search doesn't mean it finds the relevant information.
I was only looking for some help/advice...

in combination with the work by Camro.
Then you'll have a decent version with some small bugs.
That's (as far as i know) the best out there atm for our Touch HD.

That may be true, but you have to take into account that your first post was a bit of a "drive-by shooting" kind of thing.
The developers here aren't unfriendly, but years of people posting "Hey what's the best X thanks" will make most people a bit weary.
In other words, there is a lot of information here but the best way to get help is to ask with a bit of knowledge beforehand. For example:
"I have a Touch HD and want to run android. I know about HaRET and how to install an android build on my SD-card, but am unsure which build to use. I've seen build X, Y and Z and am wondering whether someone has tried any or even better all of them, and could tell me which one seems the most stable.
I'm thinking of trying X, but if Y is a lot better I'd prefer to get that on my first try."
Also, you can't find "the best most stable ROM" using search because, well, that's up to a lot of different factors.
Often, the only way to make sure is by trying a lot of them yourself and see what works best for you.
Finding what works for you takes time and effort.
If you can show that you're willing to spend both, people here will be nothing but helpful. And I'm not saying you're not willing, I'm just saying that maybe that wasn't very clear from your first post. Know what I mean?
Good luck with setting up Android on your HD.

the developers here has been a great help and made my diamond and HD awesome! You should pay attention to what Polar Bear writes in the previous post. 2.2 Xdandroid is almost reliable I'm waiting for a new release, but keep in mind the long wait for X10 users...

Wow..... good answer : )

Help What build of Android should I use PLEASE????

Hi everyone, this is my issue I want to use the android but to tell you the truth I don't know which one to use, there are so many and each one I have read about have some sort of issue. I think if the chefs focus on working together to better one build of Android instead of recreate a new build for every little feature we all would be happy. After that is achieved the chefs can focus on working towards what they desire in their own cooked up version. I would be willing to pay a little something for all the hard work and i'm sure a lot of other users would to. It's just my stupid input but I think it would be a lot more time saving and use full than having to install 5 different cooked up roms to find out what build works the best.
By the way can anyone that has tried different builds tell me what would be best to install? I'm looking for something stable fast with Sense and I would also like to know what cooked up windows rom would work best with it. THANKS EVERYONE!!!
Oh I'm using 2.13 from tmobile!!!!
Wow did you just step into it..
Im just going to sit here with my popcorn and watch what happens..
Oh no...mods please close before this poor guy gets flamed. There was enough flaming in the 'too many mdeejay builds' thread
OP, here's the only response you're gonna get to this questions cause it's been asked 100 times before...
Try them out. Go through the different build threads and read..and read..and read. Different builds work better or worse for different people. It has a lot to do with your specific phone/winmo rom/radio/sd card/other data.
Not a single build is 100% perfect yet. Just have to find the one that works best for your usage.
On the bright side, it doesn't take much to install/uninstall/install a new Android build, so it isn't too much of a hassle trying different ones out to see what works best for you.
Good luck!

do you mind if i take some of that?... i just ate all mine watching the thread by the guy who hates mdeejay lol.
seriously, people need to start getting bans/suspensions.
OP:
do what most of the adults are doing... try some builds FOR YOURSELF and see what you like or dont like.
First you are (probably) going to have to flash a new WM ROM and radio.
do some research on this or you will most likely brick your HD2.
No-one here will give you any more help than the advice here ^^^
now for the love of god.... someone beer-me... i need a drink
I agree with tgtoys...but to help you out I personally use hyperdroid and I have less issues with it than most WM roms I have flashed...nearly everything works and works good. I have minimal freeze issues (similar to WM). I use Android every single day with no regrets...and it is my business phone! GL
@op, please try the build that fits you best.

How can he when you closed the thread?

What's the "best" / stable rom atm?

What's currently the most bug-free & stable windows phone 7 or mango rom out there?
i would say YukiXDA rom is...i have been using it without any prob
YukiXDA V5 is the best...
Yuki V5, Xbmod 1.11, HD20 1.14(need only replace soft radio to 5.51 - part00.bin). are the best.
All "Green" mangos presently very crappy.

+1 for YukiXDA V5.................. and in waiting for stable mango!
YukiXDA is only NODO update at the moment... will wait for Mango release
In terms of Mango beta 1 - i can only speak for myself but it is very stable for me - and quite fast - yes it has a few bugs (mentioned in other topics)
but wont prevent me from daily usage! (i switched from android to wp7 this week and im enjoying very long battery life on my device with only the standard battery)
which beta mango are u using then?
I use the beta from elfinazz with marketplace working
I totally agree!

Sorry but I agree, This thread shouldn't be in this section and tbh it shouldn't even exist anyway. These "best" rom threads are useless.
i'm familiar with android builds for the HD2, but my friend wants windows 7 on his HD2, so i myself found this thread useful. XDA is a huge place to browse around, so this gave me some good places to look first.
he also did specify which ones were the most stable and bug free, which is more factual than which one is 'best'

Yeah your right there is nothing wrong with their existence but only if they haven't been created before. These "best" rom threads are simply ridiculous, there is no "best" rom, its all subjective and just leads to a million useless replies that have been discussed before in a million other topics.
Its much more productive to go and try some roms and then leave feedback, Then people can read and make their own minds up.

[Q] Full function android on HD2

I had an HD2 before but did not like windows at all and there was not a suitable android release for it so I sold it.
I really liked the phone but was wondering if there is a good android replacement where everything works available for it now?
Thanks for any help
I use the BOYPPC SHIFTPDA DHD V18 Rom (Desire HD) on my HD and it works perfectly on it.
if you have TMOUS LEO1024 i would check out this ROM. i have found that its pretty much bug free (none that i've found anyway) and a great ROM overall. also a great fast/stable ROM would be RAFDROID HD found here.
if you need a guide on re-installing Android i would check this thread out
I have not bought one yet but I'm looking on Craig's list and will find one soon.
Are the ones you guys mentioned Gingerbread?
Thanks for your help
I've tried almost all available NAND builds for HD2 and I can say that I found only one stable and fast build which is NexusHD2-Gingerbread".
I've tried those big, ram eaters - HTC SENSE ROM's
The thing that convinced me to install it was obviously HTC Sense, but I realized that it's unless if I am not using it's widgets (facebook, twitter, messages, etc).
But that wasn't the main reason why I left these roms, the main reason was the performance. Booting took much longer than on normal clean non-sense rom, I had to wait until it stabilize itself after each boot (1-2 minutes, htc sense had to load up and other processes). Scrolling wasn't smooth as on clean rom. These roms are more likely designed for 1024mb hd2's because on 512 hd2's it just doesn't fit (i don't know how it works on 1024mb but i guess the same, the only reason why I said it is for 1024mb hd2's was because mostly every htc sense build requires sd parition). The phone did not respond as quick as on clean gingerbread build. I just think that camera is better than on clean rom, pictures looks nice, sharp with good contrast.
I've also tried MUI roms.
These roms are nice and simple, eye catchy UI and advanced settings. Ability to change lots of things such as boot image and sound, custom firewall, etc. everything can be easily found, just few taps, everything is nicely designed.
However it is not as quick as clean rom, it can hang somewhere, and not always completely translated from Chinese to English. You can customize it for your own needs.
Normal clean roms are the best in my opinion.
I've used mostly all different roms, Android and Windows 7, and I always come back to NexusHD2-Gingerbread rom. I think that the only thing that makes me changing this rom is it's simplicity. It is the cleanest rom I ever seen and quickest one (you just need to change home launcher to GOLAUNCHER as it make the phone super fast and responsible, because on standard one scrolling through apps lags).
So I prefer this rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060 thanks to it's fast booting, fast responding and stability.
HTC SENSE ROM's might have better benchmarks but believe me it can't be compared with Clean NexusHD2-Gingerbread rom. Every gameloft game
work flawlessly on it.
It is just my opinion from the experience with those roms.
Do we have to have this same topic re-created and re-cycled every single [email protected]*king day?
Its not hard to use search or go through a couple of pages, Its just pure lazyness to create this topic, pure and simple.
Second vote for Gingerbread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905060 It is just great and hassle-free, gave me no trouble of any kind.
As far as threads like this are concerned, I don't see why members can't ask for other members' opinions on what they like or dislike. Of course they can go and check out the available versions by going through the threads and posts, but personal recommendations would be the best way of finding out the outstanding work, rather than waste time going back and forth even after all the reading is done and all the problems are noted. It's not only time consuming, it can be daunting with the amount of information and releases that's out there. Perhaps we should run the best release poll and have it stickied to save time. After that whoever wants to try other things is free to rummage through the section and flash at their heart's desire.
@Gabriel51 your bound to get so many different answers because everyone likes different things as already pointed out
@dawid your right that if you dont use the widgets theres really no point at all so i have to give you that but lets talk about scores for a second. i personally clocked 41.something mflops on RAFDROID HD using linpack, a 2816 quadrant score & vellamo was only 29 points behind the dual core Sensation. now im not saying numbers are everything but you would have to admit thats pretty fast. although i really like the wifi calling feature available on the NexusHD2 ROM which im sadly missing :'( this feature alone is worth flashing that ROM
@TheATHEiST it does seem like this is covered on a daily basis from different people and a search would yeild results if people would ever use it. i will say though in all fairness that i use the search feature everytime im trying to find something but i feel the search function on this site is a little subpar causing it to be difficult at times to find what your looking for. most of the time i dont have any problem at all though.

They can, thats not the point, The point is this is the same question, over and over and over, Why create the same topic and ask it again instead of reading one of the other topics? You are going to get just as relevant answers by reading them as you are creating another topic. All topics like this do is clutter the place up.
For example, If I was to get a new device tomorrow, I wouldnt go and create a silly topic like this in my new devices section as its common sense it will have already been asked and answered, Instead I would go and read the topics that already exist and try some roms out for myself. The fun part is learning and adapting.

People come to this type of forum for help, some people "troll" looking for an opportunity to open their mouth spread their disease. I don't own the anti-Christ an explanation but I did search using the words in this topic.
There is a no stupid question for most educators and then there are those that expect you to glean through hoards of information in hopes of finding and discerning information relevant to ones needs.
I intend to continue to ask those with knowledge their opinion on topics such as this and those who wish to contribute understand then need to do so.
Thanks to all those that helped.

I've had this argument a few times now. The point is if you all keep creating threads on topics that have already been Answered your making it harder for people to search for their answers because your cluttering up the forums with sh+t. I'm happy to spend some of MY time answering questions but when the op could of simply typed "revert hd2 to stock xda" into Google and found his answer it becomes quite tedious because this question does get asked everyday.
/edit and the op shouldn't be installing custom roms if he doesn't know how to remove them

Well it depends what exactly you want. For example you can try this one:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256423
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860
I tried these roms and I am happy with them. Works fast, didn't have any problems with anything. I just give you example of a roms which you can try.

EXACTLY!!
You see! He tried recommending you the best and most stable 3 roms of all from his opinion, yet you liked NONE of them. Your "preferences" are different from everyone else's. He likes sense, you don't. He didn't have crashes on tytung's ics, you did. He thinks Sense is fancy and wonderful, you think it's slow and buggy.
It was your fault for making this thread in the first place. That's why the "best rom", "most stable", "fastest rom" ... etc threads are despised and hated.
I suggest you read Kameirus's post and you will understand what I mean. (if you haven't already).

the problem is that i don't have many time,so i can't try every rom in this forum. So i must ask and try only the rom that has been considered the best :/
i know all you said, but not all have the time and knowledge to understand what's the best rom only reading the first post of every rom

Hey, what's the best colour?
What's the best food?
What's the best phone?
What's the best song?
What's the best movie?
What's the best car?
OH WAIT, YOU CAN'T ANSWER BECAUSE IT'S AN OPINION BASED QUESTION!
Seriously, I'm getting really tired of these best ROM threads. There is no correct answer, and yet you people still create them. All that happens is that they're closed by a mod or they turn into 10 post spam threads where new users open old threads to post questions in the dev forums. If you just wanted the ROM most people use then why not look at the thread view count and post count?
To quote PG101 (I think) 'coming to XDA and asking for the best ROM is like going into a bar full of drunks and asking what's the best drink'.
I wouldn't have posted this if you had admitted in post #6 that you're wrong through Marvlesz and Kameirus's pure logic, but you've somehow tried to justify posting an idiotic question which is quite annoying.

Isnt this an Android Q&A forum. Why is everyone so neurotic about these "best rom" threads? There is a avalanche of information on xda...This i agree...however its very easy to get completely blindsighted by the sheer volume of threads and the "best rom, most stable" etc, are usually shot down very soon after the question is asked.
If one cant offer any guidence or if one gets frustrated by these threads then why click on the thread and why take time to respond negitively instead of just skimming past and ignoring the thread?
I get that it becomes tiresome for seasoned members here to see these threads but please can we not just assume that the posters are just being "Lazy". Its also worth note that is increasingly difficult for new users to post here for fear of upsetting others with their (mostly well intentioned) ill thought out questions..
XDA is such a great source of knowledge and resource and i agree one needs to take the time to read, read and read some more sometimes though we can get lost and sometime are just asking to be pointed in a direction that has benefited others. Ie' a rom thread where the reading will begin b4 flashing
Flashing for the 1st time can be tricky as their is a lot to take in and one can be nervous of the procedure, and if too many of us take it apon ouselves to be the forum police then the the prospect becomes slightly less appealing.
Sorry i dont mean to offend anyone by sounding off but i too am new to much of the flashing roms, and also am guilty of comming to these threads in the hope of finding a majority of agreement on a particular rom. I do understand that it is subjective and one does not fit all. However it can give confidence to new flashees if experienced users can offer recomendations which have been offered here above, which i personally an very greatfull for.
Sometimes we are but sheep and will follow where led.

I do get it. But it doesnt mean it doesnt frustrate me to see the responses in these threads just as it frustrates those who are rattled by the thread even existing who feel the need to jump on and respond.
If it bugs you... you can leave it alone and move on OR you can let the OP know your frustration by refusing to answer the question and telling them to get off XDA. But surely its easier to ignore it?
It honest feels that the forum has become quite arrogant at times especially where "newbs" are concerned. And it can feel at times slightly Elitist (those that Can vs those who need help) with a disregard to anyone who doesnt know where to begin.
One post i read earlier told a FM to "get off the android forum and dont come back" for asking a similar question... How is this helping and how is it got to the point where there are many 'thanks' thumbsup to this sort of response.
I doubt that OP would be back in a hurry but i guess if it stops them asking 'stupid' questions....Theres a pattern forming where some members here who have flashed successfully a few times then become part of this club that pretends to be irritated by 'best rom' threads and i assume it makes them feel superior by responding with negative feedback to ones who genuine are looking for just a point in the right direction. Why not just 'Not Respond' at all??
Its like pack mentality sometimes and thankfully it is a minority of members who are rattled and on the whole XDA is immensely helpful to newcomers who will learn the hard way to never ask "that" question :banghead:

We are members of this community, thus we have to do our best to make it better. We do this by telling people who post such threads about how wrong it is and the correct way of finding "the" rom. But it got out of hand, you can check that for yourself. Every other week, there is a thread asking the exact same thing, i.e "best rom, fastest, stable". Whereas it should be common sense that there is no best in subjective things as Nigel summed it.
Now the problem is that many people think xda is a support site. Here is a quote from a senior member that I couldn't agree more with:
TheATHEiST said:

While it is true that you can find help on xda, that doesn't mean it is given on a silver platter. If you can't bother to help yourself, we can't bother to help you. Furthermore, finding a question that a 2-click search could've provided a more-than-satisfactory answer or finding a post that is almost the same as a two-rows-below post is rather very irritating.
... become part of this club that pretends to be irritated by 'best rom' threads and i assume it makes them feel superior by responding with negative feedback to ones who genuine are looking for just a point in the right direction. ...

That's impossible, if you're asking "what's the best rom", there is no way you're looking for a point in the right direction. Because basically there is no right direction. Some people even try to justify their stupid posts with even more stupid posts.
The HD2 has been out for about 4 years now. NO matter what your problem is, it has a 99% probability it has been asked AND answered before MULTIPLE times. Now if people can't bother to follow the very first rule of the forum rules, they don't deserve to be helped.
When they first registered on xda, they agreed to abide by the terms, rules and conditions. Now if you agree to abide by something and then break that thing, you take full responsibility and deserve everything you get for that breaking.

A common misconception, this is a development forum (hence XDA developers ). Other than this I don't really have anything to add to Marvlesz's post tbh. You have to understand that when I posted that there had been literally three similar threads in a row. When you're posting a thread search results for the same or similar title even come up, so there wasn't any excuse for this thread to have been created. There's a subtle line between not knowing and not trying, and this is the latter.
It's problem to me too... I have 1.5 gb roms on my SD and no one fully work for me =(
Ok so i am aware that my earlier post was ott on my part and can only apologize. Must have been posting through some red mist I admit i jumped in without thinking and was unduely judgemental. Sorry bout that Everyone here esp devs are doing such amazing work for our gadgets to perform at their peaks and i am immensely appreciative of that. I agree with the above that this is first a "Development" forum and can be misconceived by some (myself included ) as somewhere where the answers are uniform and one in the same. However i see this is not the case and opinions to questions such as "whats the best, fastest most stable" etc, are so diverse and if everyone were to give an opinion then i guess these threads would also just get messy and lengthy with NO satifactory conclusion.
Sorry Guys...Really Didnt mean to offend. However i can see how my wording may have done so :banghead:
