Anyone else have dead pixels on their Aria? I have about 5, should I go through the return process with Amazon, or contact HTC?
If you're still within the first 30 days contact amazon. It's easier to just get an exchange from them. If not then rma it with HTC.

I called them today and without question they shipped me a replacement for tomorrow. Took me maybe 5 minutes total, I was very surprised at the great customer service considering it took me 2 weeks to get my phone originally.
I've got 7. I'm debating on returning it or not. I dont notice them unless I really look for them.

What would a dead pixel look like? Probably a silly question but I've never had problems with my displays.

If you display an all black image on the phone, you'll see spots that aren't black. Those are dead pixels, they never change color. Usually if you have a couple, they tend to spread, or at least that has been my experience when the phone is brand new.

Gheez, 5 and 7 pixels. That is a lot for a tiny screen!

Well if you're lazy like me then no. But if you feel like you've been conned out of your money then return it.
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
sure... you paid a fair deal for the phone- if you're dissatisfied, then samsung/retailer should rectify it.
but it does sound like lots of hassle for a single pixel.
of course...especially when you will be noticing it, everytime when you look at it
i'd return it . im sure now you see and look at the dead pixel everytime you look at the screen as you have already spotted it.
Well, kind of how I feel guys.

Probably not, depends on how noticeable it was.
If everything else works fine, there is always the chance you'll return it and get something far more annoying.
It reminds me of friends who used to return monitors that had a bad pixel.
- Frank
Yes I definitely would. Not sure if they'll accept the return though because of just one dead pixel.
yeah im sure it will be fine with exchange to newset.

I would return a monitor for one. I haven't had a dead pixel in a monitor in a very long time.
This one is pretty noticeable being in the center and all.

I would definitely exchange it coz i know how annoying that one dead pixel is.. i had a iPhone like that and i took it to apple store and they exchanged it for me.
I would definitely return it.
You deserve a new and defect free screen when you have paid for a new device.
Definitely I would. You'll never forgive yourself if u don't do it

Talking with the vendor, hoping they take care of me. They have a pretty awful policy on the books there though at 11 dead pixels for a return...
They're talking to the supplier, i will keep you posted.
Aren't there any apps that force colours to all the pixels which then, in turn, might unlock the green one?

Just found 'Pixel Fixer V 2.0' and its free. Give it a go. You can't lose really.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Exactly, there are methods of fixing dead pixels with a good chance of success. I would definitely google it and try them out (and maybe try to figure out which may be best for AMOLED screens).
Then, if nothing works and the dead pixel is in some annoying place I would ask for a replacement.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/dead-pixel-detect-and-fix/com.htc.chris.blackspotdetect
Even if you don't mind, say in the off chance you sell it later - and the buyer notices it and decides not to - you'll regret not getting a new phone.

Thank you, I already tried that overnight to no avail (and then again several times for a few hours.)
Does Asurion have any Incredibles left? I screwed mine up and I'm probably gonna end up getting a replacement. Or would they replace it with an Incredible 2?

Yeah, they should still be doing refurbished Incredibles , but if you had one with a AMOLED screen you will probably end up with SLCD

Im pretty sure they replace them with whatever they have in stock at whatever distribution center they have closest to near where you live. I've heard people say they replaced their incredibles with refurbished droid x's, facinates, incredible 2's and regular incredibles. It's a luck of the draw what you get really.

It's getting here tomorrow, let's see what it is.
Likely an incredible. I got a couple from them recently (Wisconsin if it matters). First one was online, second was over the phone, and both were Inc's.
Funny part was that my coworker got a replacement from them a few weeks earlier and got a inc 2.
PS. So you don't think I break phones weekly, on the 1st one the accelerometer didn't work. Haha.

Ended up getting the same phone, but with 2.3.4 :/
Trying to get it rooted again.
I have tried asurion online about everyday for the last month and they seem to always have OG Dincs in stock. I have a cracked screen so it is cheaper for me to just replace that myself. Just hoping to get a Dinc 2 instead so I have a newer device until HTC releases their next super phone a april/summer. My dinc has been great though with CM7.
Has anyone got a Dinc 2 from asurion recently?
Just curious.

Yes for me.
Envoyé depuis ma Nexus 7.
yes. Google's RMA is fast and painless.
Yes I would.
Themes and apps isn't really the right section for this.
It would depend where the pixel is for me.
just noticed I posted in wrong forum. I was using the Tapatalk app and forot which section I was in
If I just bought it, yes. If I've owned it for several months and a single pixel went out I probably would not exchange it for the lottery reburb I would get (assuming they would even warranty it...I don't know what their pixel policy is).
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I did, what sucks is that it was clear until I did the update about an hour after turning it on, rebooted...and there it was, laughing in my face. Got my replacement and the only issue I have now is very slightly raised screen, no problem though, I see there are fixes for that if I really feel like it.

I find myself in the same situation.
I ordered online from Futureshop.ca (Canada)
I am about 6 days out of the 14 day exchange policy as I went on vacation and am just now getting to play with the tablet.
I have 1 dead pixel, now that I know it's there it is buging me, I also have screen flicker with low wifi issue, no lifting though.
Called Google, told me to call Asus.
Called Asus and got an RMA but I have to pay for shipping to Asus, I am worried I will get back a tablet with screen lifting!
Going to take my changes and send it in I guess.
oz
No. I have one white pixel but you only notice it if you are actively search for it and only on a complete black screen. Doesn't bother me at all.
I thought I have just one dead pixel, but I found others, on different colors.
I am not able to return my Nexus 7, but I would do it if I could.

for sure i would no way would i accept any new electronic purchases that came with defects
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yep. Why anyone wouldn't is beyond me. Not doing so is basically encouraging less QC to be needed (if your bugging ASUS about RMA's they'll probably learn to make their devices better; whereas not bothering ASUS about issues will probably allow them to lack more and more on QC).
Hi,
As above, I was wondering if the manufacturers code on websites is any way to tell....
At ebuyer.com the mf code is.. 90OK0MI1100550U
Perhaps the "90" suggests C90? Or am I dreaming here?!
Thanks
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Serial number is printed in the box, that is not the serial number, my serial number start with C7O
Will the next nexus have a longer screen?
As Mach stated above, there is no 0 after the month digit in the serial , it's an O. Most people on here mistake it for a zero, and that long string just sounds like an internal stock number or something for the site.
Best way to tell if it matters to you is to check it yourself in person on the bottom of the box before you buy
People are reporting screen lifts even on a C90. I got a replacement due to a defect with the touch screen responsiveness and its a C80. So far so good.

I'm really hoping its just a matter of bad batches, my new replacement is a C80 and I find it a lot more responsive compared to my previous one I returned.
Don't like this put you off as its still a great tablet for its price range.
My only advise for anyone buying one is to ask about the warranty policy. If you end up buying one from a store, don't wait till you get home to open it, open it at the store at least to see if it has screen lift and if so change it on the spot.

I bought mine from a store as it was cheaper than Google play store, as it allowed me to barter and price match other stores. It also meant straight replacement on any defective ones I get without having to send it off and wait.
But I guess not everyone has that leisure or policy with their stores.

It seems to be more common after extensive use or gaming where it would generate more heat than say just browsing or reading an eBook.

It's not an answer but for LCd TV/monitor's the company won't replace for just one dead pixel. I think it has to be a a few dead pixels to get a replacement.
