I just got an HTC Aria and am having trouble staying connected to my car through bluetooth. I can pair and connect the first time but when I turn off the car and turn it on again, it does not reconnect. I need to unpair the phone and re-pair. My car is a 2009 Chevy Impala. I've tried my dealer, Onstar and HTC support and they say its just not compatable. Will there be an upgrade in Android 2.2 to fix this? Any help? thanks.
I found something after a little google searching that may be of interest.
Don't quite remember what I found, but the gist of the story was, take it back to your dealer and get the software update.

Some customers on certain 2009 model year vehicles equipped with a Generation 8.0L OnStar system may report some of the following concerns:
• No OnStar® LED and no response to any OnStar® buttons. Additionally, some customers may also have a battery drain.
• Phone pairing feature for the Bluetooth® system is not retained after an ignition cycle.
• Nametags for OHFC, Bluetooth® and Turn-by-Turn will be lost after an ignition cycle, or the nametag may be present but the customer is unable to use it or delete it.

Some customers may also be referred to the dealer by either the GM Customer Assistance Center or by OnStar® Technical Assistance following attempts to resolve any of the listed concerns.
Dealer Action
If any or all of the above conditions have been met, dealer technicians should reprogram the OnStar® VCIM. A revised service calibration has been released to address this condition. Reprogram the OnStar® VCIM using the TIS2WEB Service Programming System (SPS) application.

I am looking for a cheap BT car head unit which intigrates well with the kaiser. It also needs to stream music/mp3.
Anyone had any experience
I have a vauxhall astra 05..and would like to keep steering wheel controls.
Has anyone had experience with a parrot ie the 6100 which sttreams music via blue tooth ?
Your Astra has an iPod/Aux input?
Use the itech R-35 clip and a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to connect to your iPod/Aux jack and you're done.
If you use a long cable to clip the R-35 to your shirt "voila" handsfree with calls over your stereo. I found this the cheapest and best working solution.

Parrot MK6000 + Audicom
Hi,
I have installed a Parrot MK6000 to get audio streaming with my Kaiser into a VW Golf GTI. I used an Audicom SW101C to get the steering wheel controls integrated. If you are going to use steeering wheel interation, just get an MK6000, not the MK6100 as the 6100 has an LCD display and it will cost more. The purpose of the steering wheel integration is to make it all look factory and integrated, but get the audio streaming, which the 3000 doesn't have.
http://www.audicom.it/prodotti2.asp?subcategoria=47&prodid=120&tipo1=&tipo2=
I initally had loads of trouble getting the Kaiser to pair with the Parrot, but since they have released firmware version 1.03, it has worked like a charm.

The audiocom unit has worked very well at integrating the steering wheel controls. Their website lists the >2006 Astra as compatible, which would be the AH Astra. I had the old TR Astra, which did not have steering wheel controls.

I bought a sony xplod deck that supports bt audio streaming and headset profile as well. It shows your signal strength and battery leven on the display and what services are connected (BT audio and/or headset)
I stream music to my device using resco radio which then i send to the stereo through BT and if i get a call, it fades the music out, rings and i can talk on the phone. soon as a i hang up the music fades back in and all is well
best part about it, the deck was less then $60 from best buy!
Also the deck has a USB port to put jumpdrives and some usb dongle/mp3 players, but i just use it to charge my device when driving long trips and the HSDPA/Bluetooth/GPS use would kill a device in under an hour
If you want a "portable" option and yr car has aux input. I will recommend Sony DS200/220. Unlike most BT stereo headset I tried, it can charge battery while playing.
For car header, I would recommend you to bring yr Kaiser to a local store and try it out. I tried many brand/models (Sony, JVC, Pansonic ..etc) at Fry's and found that both Sony model (BT1500 and 3000 ??) sound very poor (very mechanic) compare to other brand. I ended up follow the user review from Clutchfield and brought the JVC BT1. And I am happy w/ the the sound quality.
Just FYI, Kaiser does have problem in returning to A2DP after phone call. (Search the other discussion in this forum).
Problems with Parrot MK6100 and ATT Tilt
I'm having some major problems with my hands free Parrot MK6100. Talk about an overpriced piece of crap! I contacted Parrot about the problem, and this is the response I got! WOW, the Fench and thier customer service!
Matthew,
I would like to make something very clear to you. It is not Parrot or any other companies job to do your research before you make a purchase. You stated everything worked great until YOU got a new phone. Nowhere on our website does it state that the HTC Tilt is compatible with the MK6100. If you would have looked at our forum, you would see other people with HTC phones reporting audio issues a while back. If you would have called us or sent us an email, we would have told you this information & suggested against getting that phone. It is your personal responsibility to educate yourself before making a purchase & especially with technology products. Ex. I just bought a camcorder & I spent a week researching until I made my purchase & I will stick by my educated purchase & not complain at all. I think my point is clear & now we can move on.
This is a dynamic industry. We have no control over how Windows, LG, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola, Treo, & HTC, design & develop their hardware & software to work with Bluetooth. Ocassionaly there are problems with phones. We do the best we can to resolve these problems as fast as possible even if it is not our problem to begin with. How many of the cell phone companies that you have talked to do that? They always "pass the buck". We do not. We take pride in our products & have a much larger phone compatibility base than any other car kit on the market. We also make a superior product.
First, We have no problems with the contacts synchronizing with the car kit here in the lab. All contacts from the SIM & phone memory synchronize. Second, the audio issue will be resolved. We work directly with HTC & have been working on this issue for a while. As Jim stated, we just released a fix for our 2 most popular car kits, the CK3100 & the 3200LS & that we expect a release for the MK6100 soon as well.
Please perform the following & see if your contact list will synchronize.
Delete the phone from the car kit (Settings - Paired Devices - your phone - Delete)
Delete the MK6100 from your phone's Bluetooth settings (Long press the MK6100 - Delete)
Reset your phone (Remove the battery for 1 minute, replace & restart)
Once the phone is back on, search for add new device from the phone's Bluetooth settings, select the MK6100, & enter pin 0000.
I will keep your ticket open & inform you of any new information about the MK6100 & the Tilt audio issue. By the way, the phone is actually turning off hands-free when this happens, not the car kit. You can get the audio on the kit by pressing the Menu on the phone & select Turn Hands-free On. Please do not do this while driving for obvious safety reasons.
We may have other options for you if you absolutely can not wait for an update. Let's try moving in a positive direction please.
Thank you for choosing Parrot

Wow. I'll never buy a Parrot unit simply based on that response. Who wants to be berated for purchasing a new phone by some lowly tech support rep?

Terrible response, what an .....
But, since I allready own a parrot, I'll keep my head down until its time to buy a new system.
Good luck with syncin the music
sony xplod is very good. i have the BT2700 model.. 180USD but hard to find.
I recently upgraded my car stereo to a new Alpine CDA-9887 with the KCE-400BT.
Syncs right up with my kaiser.. Within 30 seconds of turning the key on, I can make full calls, and stream music with full play/pause/forward-backward control...
Hi i came across this interesting article regarding Cheap DIY car security GPS tracking device for cars.
The author supplies everything to get a simple but yet effective Car GPS Tracking Device.
Downside it uses Java so is limited to certain compatible devices, My idea is for a developer here to remake this application for Windows Mobile as it could be cooked straight into a ROM making it more reliable and just much more feature rich.
Also there are many older win mobile devices to be pick-up cheap that would make a great Tracker

Links to the Java applications and installation guides:
http://drop.io/gps_tracker_240808
I just hope I can inspire a developer to take on this project as I think this has real scope to make use of old win mobile devices and possibly help owners to save on car insurance
heard about TrackMe ?
Track me is not a dedicated program for gps tracking I was talking about software that could allow the phone to be fitted with a pay n go sim card allow the phone to ring silent and send it's position back to selected phone numbers, email addresses ect.. (real time or timed intervals )sms or gprs
Then you could hide the device in your car permanently power it up and if you car gets stolen you can find it's potion and alert the authorities
Needs to have features like times and days that can be set up so say you don't drive your car after 11pm at night your set the software then if the car starts moving after 11pm the tracker is automatically triggered, Deactivate Reactivate via sms Check status ect..
Please, can somebody already having MR2 in X2 check availability of rSAP profile under bluetooth options? Thanks!
under the profiles tab they are as follows;
A2DP
HSP
HFP 1.5
Pan
Opp
AVRCP
PBAP
SPP
SEWP
GAP
GAVDP
GOEP
no rSAP
Thanks for quick reply
So it seems no improvement against MR1
Does anybody know whether some modifications/adds of Setup_BT_extensions.CAB installing BT profiles can make rSAP working?
Maybe similar *.CAB from an other device as HD2 can be installed? Ideas?
Mod Edit: Not rom dev related, moved to general
What's the importance of rSAP profile?
I read the other day that the miss of rSAP cause problems on some Bluetooth audio wireless car kits.
My X2 works without a glitch on my 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer with a Parrot MKi9000 device. Also, the other day I've tried my X2 on a 2010 Audi A4 with original Audi factory Bluetooth wireless kit, no problems either.
Cheers.

Mitsubishi Lancer is NOT using rSAP (remote SIM access). It pair with you phone as a regular Bluetooth hands free - mean that even when paired, all phone calls are still received and pass thru your phone. rSAP is complettely different story and brings all new functionality and user experience. Via rSAP (google it if you want to go to more technical details) your phone "borrow" his SIM card ID to the car, transfer phone book, SMS and sometimes e-mails to the car so you can see/use them on your car main display/navi etc... and then phone itself switch off his radio and goes in stand by mode. What's the difference ? To make calls you are using car's external antenna, car's amplifier, and build in car audio system - as a result you get MUCH BETTER reception even in areas where network coverage is not good and CRYSTAL CLEAR sound. This is included (since 2005) in All premium quality cars/models of All car manufacturers. As example for sure is included in my Mercedes C-class (who is even "lower end" compared with E and S-class models). It is also included in BMW, Audi, Toyota (premium quality models only), Lexus, Skoda, WV (premium models and as an option for low-end models.
NOTE: rSAP Bluetooth kit is considered "optional" for Audi A4 as it adds premium experience - in A6 or A8 should be "standard" and included without need to order it as an option.

I have already tried every .cab from HTC published here - unfortunately noone have worked :-(
Btw - same cabs have worked for X1, so I guess there are some differences in BT chip...
I would be also happy if someone find a solution...

I understand. Thank you for your explanation.
One question: the Apple iPhone supports rSAP?
Cheers.
@Jolo_
I've heard from my friend that it was implemented with one of their last OS updates, so it's probably available on 3G and 3GS (not in original iPhone)

It is against FEDERAL law to use a device that broadcasts a signal in flight.
Unfortunately, that means that, at least in the USA, you can't your bluetooth keyboard on a flight. The rules overseas vary by airline.
Anyone have any experience with this issue?
I think I am going to have to get a mini USB keyboard. Any suggestions for one that will work with the Acer Iconia A500 tablet?
Thanks.
I thought the law was that you can't use then during take off and landing, as many airlines now even offer in-flight wifi internet access. I know that on a trip I recently took, I could have my computer running with wifi turned on as well as bt for my headset that I was using to listen to music. However, I was not allowed to have my phone on unless it was in airplane mode.
The first trip I did this on was in 2007, the second in 2009, and again earlier this year.
I have used Bluetooth devices (mice and stereo headsets) for years now while traveling for business. Not once have I been asked to not use them.
Bluetooth keyboards are in the no-fly zone
Bluetooth wireless signals -- essentially the same as short-wave radio -- are prohibited during flights as a wireless frequency that the airlines and the FCC say could interfere with the aircraft's electronics.
A sampling of the major U.S. airline policies found bans on Bluetooth in flight on American, United, Continental, Delta, Alaska, Virgin America, Horizon and JetBlue.

I just switched from AT&T to Verizon in April. My AT&T plan had a Galaxy S4, S5 and S6. All 3 phones paired with the nav system in my 2013 Hyundai Sonata Limited and all features worked. With Verizon, I have one Galaxy S7 and two S7 Edge's. According to Hyundai's website, both of these devices are compatible with the nav system in my car for all features. Alas, that is not true, at least not for me...the phones will pair with the nav system with no issues, but the nav doesn't load the contacts from the phone, even after clicking "Allow" when asked to do so. Because of this, I can't make a hands-free call. I give the nav system a voice command to "Call Name", it will ask for the name, I say the name and the reply is "Name not found", because it does not load the contacts. The system then reverts back to whatever it was previously set for (FM, satellite, CD, etc.) I can make a call on the phone and it will run the call through the nav system; likewise, if I receive a call and am connected to the nav, I can answer the call on my phone and it will run through the nav system.
I have talked to the service manager at a local Hyundai dealer and he said there is not an update that he is aware of and he said to go to the Verizon store and make sure the phones are not the issue. I did that yesterday and spent most of an hour on the phone with a Verizon tech. He had me completely un-pair the phone from the nav system, un-pair the nav system from the phone and re-pair both to each other as if doing it for the first time. I also tried depressing the pin-hole reset button on the top left corner of the nav unit and the only thing that did was knock out the radio station pre-sets. I feel pretty certain that the issue is with the nav system, but can't seem to find a solution.
Has anyone seen this problem and know of a solution other than taking it to the dealer? If I have to take it to the dealer I will, just hoping to avoid that if possible. Thanks, Jeff.
I had issues with my system as well, although I don't know if they are the same cause. What I found in my case was that is was related to the new way that Marshmallow asks for permissions. When I looked at the specific Bluetooth settings for my car, there were settings that were not toggled and if I toggled them manually they would just turn back off. I had to repair my phone to the vehicle and keep the bluetooth settings open as my car finished the setup. I had to physically access the bluetooth messaging settings in my car in order to get the permissions to pop up on my phone. It may be something similar in this case, where you need to wait until you car actually starts the phonebook download in order to allow it on your phone. Just a guess, but it's worth a try.
