amazing what you can accomplish when you search the world wide web... i seem to have found an unlimited trial version, 4.1 to be exact, however the ir range with the wizard apparently sucks, and the program eats up lots of resources... so i deleted it
huh????

Since when is giving a gift stealing???? Do you not think that there prevails a wee bit too much paranoia as propagated by software developers???
As far as I am concerned, giving someone software with the registration key constitutes a gift and not stealing, provided the person giving it paid for it. Does that make sense?
Incidentally, philinhot did ask for a FREE remote app did he not? Then along comes good samaritan gldrush98 and suggests one that costs money!!!
Come now guys, let's not get too paranoid about this.
Great forum.

well did the programmer put in the EULA that you could gift your key away? doubt it
he did ask for a freebie, then someone informed of some good payware... then philnot asked for the key...
this isnt a warez board, most of the people on this board are developers.. and i am sure the ones that develop software and sell for a price wouldnt be happy about having their software stolen... im not saying i dont do it myself, i have the knowledge on where to search to find what i need, but i dont post crap like that on this board, this isnt the place for it, its disrespectful to the dev's on this site, and its NOT what this site is intended for...
if philnhot101 would have never asked for the key in public then this conversation never would have happened...
Ur right about the Wizard's IR range - I tried Novii, it works perfectly, but the Wizard's poor IR range lets it down and renders it useless

A quick warning: warez, serial numbers etc. will be moderated out at once.
I use novii, it works fairly well. I use it for my TV, Macbook Pro, Comcast cablebox and Xbox 360.
The range varies between each one. Surprisingly, the cheapest electronic I have is my tv which is a 27" Apex, which I can change channels/volume from up to 7 feet away. My macbook is also fairly good.
The others, not so good. My cablebox is only about 5 feet away. The Xbox varies for some reason. Sometimes I hit it from about 6 feet away, sometimes I can't even turn it on from 3 feet away.
Just wondering, but does Novii come with IR profiles pre-installed? It'd be nice if I could use it for my 360 since I really don't feel like buying a $30 remote just for the heck of it.

Hey Mark, give this program another shot. While the range on the IR does suck, Novii has worked with Texas Instr to add drivers that (somehow) boost the IR range for this prog. No kidding, I was able to control TV, DVD and Tivo from across the room. Only problem is the width of the beam is horrible, so you have to point your wizard directly at the IR receiver, but could still be useful for some folks out there.
West87, yes it does include preloaded profiles for many components--My Samsung DVD player, Philips TV and Tivo all worked with the built-in profiles. 500 more can be downloaded from their website as well.

Well, to be completely honest, I was using a trial of the 4.0 pre-release version, not 4.1. That may have something to do with it as well...I'll try looking for a trial of 4.1 or 4.2 and see if its any better/worse.

i dont want to take sides but its not so much stealing its more breaking the terms of copyright. Most peices of software are licensed for 1 machine only so even if someone gives u the software and the legit key then thats break copyright law so its a type of theft. If someone had an application for remote control etc and the terms of the licence didn't specifiy the number of machines it had to run on then that would be fine. Sorry to be a pain just wanted to clear that up
I was on CrunchGear a short while ago and I seen a video with the new Toshiba TG-01 running this cool software on there Windows Mobile phone that I hope can be ported b/c it's a very good app that can be useful in so many ways!! It's a voice translation software and I know I've seen mentions of this software wanted plenty of times on XDA!!
Here's the Link to it in action:
http://www.crunchgear.com (Under the video it's the 7 video to the right)
Hope someone with the phone can port it and cab it up for all of us to use!!!
WOW no ones interested in this at all??? very surprised!!!
I thought for sure people would jump on this... cause in all actuality we all can use this app in one form or another!! I really hope it gets ported!!!

Dude !!! I'm with you.....I'd give my left arm to get this app on the TP2........and I'm left-handed !!!!!!
wow! really? lol why not use the google translation software? the difference is that you type....
I would love to have this on my Tilt 2, if you're traveling on another country, no one is going to wait for you to type in google then translate and them figure out how to pronouce the translation!
I cant find the video you speak of. I went to Videos of CES, and the 7th one is about a motorola. Where the hell is this video?
EDIT- here is a link to some videos and its called "Toshiba Dynapocket". http://www.wmexperts.com/meet-toshiba-dynapocket-x02t-cameo-quentin-tarantino
http://www.toshiba-ad.jp/dynapocket/x02t/ <-- look here
I would assume that since its built off the Toshiba platform, that if we can somehow get a ROM from Japan, someone can extract it?
There are some other programs that do the same thing. Don't know how good any of them are.
Speereo Voice Translator
ECTACO Voice Translator
Avatar28
The latter one is discontinued.
Speereo Voice Translator is actually 16-language phrasebook with approx. 4000 phrases and idioms in each language. You can't just press the button and say a phrase though, you should pick the proper category first (like, "City", "Taxi").
SVT is bundled with several useful utilities, including size&measure converter, currency calculator, weather app, flight status app, e.t.c. to be all-in-1 solution for travelers.
I am very interested in this app for Tilt2.
Thank you
I'm glad to see this getting some attention finally!!! I think if we can get our hands on this software it could prove to be very useful and helpful!! I wish we knew someone who could get there hands on the rom at least... IDK but I hope this software lands here on xda for all of us to use!!!
c'mon guys this XDA how come we've yet to get this app?? and xda even has the phone on the site!!! this apps so cool!!

Hey man I checked all the japanese websites about the TG01 and X02T. TG01A has dictionaries but not voice translation...
There is no mention of the toshiba voice software in their data-sheet or roms.
I think you will be disappoint to know that software was only demoed during ces2009.
I started a thread a few months ago concerning a proprietary video player that Sony used for their Location Free Player devices. Well...
The software code has now been moved to open source status and is free for full linux development. I'm hoping I can convince one of you savvy developers to whip up the player so it can run on either Android or a full linux OS (I use Ubuntu). I'm sure it's a gold mine for tons of other video streaming applications that could potentially run on our devices.
The link to the open source code can be found here along with other Sony open projects.
http://products.sel.sony.com/opensource/
Location Free TV is the program I'm specifically talking about. I believe the current version is LFA-PC30. If you would like to read more on this device/player you can check the wiki at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LocationFree_Player
Let me know if anyone has any questions, I very eager to see if this is possible. If I could stream video from my Location Free Player Base I to either my android device or Ubuntu Netbook I would be very very pleased. If a dev is serious I would be more than happy to have them test on my base station. PM or email me if you're interested!
Also, please move to the correct thread if this is in the incorrect area.
agreed!
I too would love to see more on this, my locationfree box could get so much more use.
So a sony base unit (hardware) is needed to try this right
If someone is working on this, and needs a connection to a base station to test ( I have the last version that came out LF-V30 ) message me and I'll send you the adress to connect to my station and the password

Love to see this on Android. This would give new life to my Location Free Box. If not then I may have to move to Sling Player although I would like to stay with Sony.

Hello, Bumping the thread once more, there are plenty of Location free devices out there for people to purchase an paid app from the android store.
Please compile an app from the source code link that OP provided. I am looking forward to it.

I have a few questions about the honey comb.
Does it have swype?
How many applications are ready to be used on it?
Also about xoom..
Can we connect an external keyboard to it with bluetooth or usb port?
How is the overall experience?
Can it replace a laptop?
Thanks~

1. Not yet
2. Less than 50 I would guess optimized for Honeycomb. It just released a week ago so we will see many more at time goes on. Many of the existing phone apps work.
3. Yes. Motorola sells a BT one for Xoom. Check their accessories page.
4. I love it and can't keep it out of my hands.
5. Depends on what you plan to do with it. The browsing and email experience are fantastic.
Is it easy to type on it? like written chat on for instance gtalk?
so a lot of the phone apps r working on honeycomb?
Idk why I had heard otherwise!
I have another question. Does the tablet android have multi-tasking?
For instance, can you video chat and minimize it browse facebook alongside?
This is not possible on android phones and is important in my decision of getting xoom.
Response will be appreciated~!
Thank you
Please watch one video on honeycomb or read one review...it will give a lot more answers and it will be a lot quicker than asking really easy to lookup questions over and over.

jeee.... ur soooo helpful.. thanks a loooootttt buddy
btw why do we have forums for everything again?
so we help each other out?
ohh no we aren't sarcastic to people in the real world.. we need virtual reality for that too
I don't know about you, but when I hear about a product my first thought is not to rush to a forum to have people tell me about it.
I don't have any issue helping anyone out, but you need to do a tiny amount of work yourself before deciding to post three posts full if questions...it's just a couretsy to others.

if u didnt have a problem u cud have taken a minute to answer the questions instead of writing BS*!
And I wanted to know from a user..who is actually experiencing xoom hands on.
And please stop writing on my thread now!
PeAcE!
While I agree the OP should read a review or two, I think he would have walked away with basically the same questions. I haven't read a review that talked about Swype or specific number of applications. Besides, he wants "real world" reviews not some engadget or phonearena crap (nothing against the websites as I read them everyday, but their reviews are a waste of time, esp the XXX vs YYY ones, but that's a whole other thread).
@OP
1. The Xoom can not currently use Swype, but you can get SlideIt. I use it, it's not as good as Swype, but will last me until Swype releases a version for the Xoom.
2. There are not that many apps for it. Keith is correct (<50). Most phone apps do work though.
3. Moto sells a bluetooth keyboard, but you bring up a good point, I dont know if a USB one would work with a converter. Maybe I'll have to give it a try.
4. I love the overall experience. Yes, it's a little glitchy and there aren't many apps, but it does everything I want it to and then some.
5. I agree with Keith here as well...it depends. However, I will say that I attended a board meeting last night for my building. I am secretary and usually take notes with my netbook. I did last night with my Xoom and it was great. I also have a "real" laptop, and I don't think it would ever replace that, but I think it could replace my netbook.
My $.02, go to costco and buy it. It's definitely worth trying out for 90 days.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! You have been a great help..
And I did go through some reviews and videos on youtube beforehand for honeycomb, some for xoom and g slate.
Just one last question that I think you didn't see, was about the video chatting and multi-tasking?

confirmed. you can switch apps while using video chat. I didn't specifically open facebook, but i did use CNN, market and the browser. it does, however, turn off your camera, so it's no longer a video chat (the other party sees a black screen). you can continue to talk. when you come back to the chat, it does automatically turn your camera back on.
hope this helps!

I have been really wanting to try out a smart watch lately, they just seem so useful and fun. However there seems to be a big lack of support for Windows Phone 8. Has anyone been able to find one that works with our WP8? Below are some of the watches that I have checked out so far. Let me know if any have worked for you, or if you know of any others that claim to work with WP8.
Pebble
CooKoo
I'm Watch
MetaWatch
Here are a couple others I have looked at...
Citizen Proximity
Sony Smartwatch
I also know that there have been claims that Microsoft is looking into making a watch device. But hoping to get my hand on something a little sooner, cause that will be months and months from now.
I would be interested in this info too....

That's good to know, I'm going to see what I can get functioning with my Ativ PC
SPP can be done by Devs themselves (the OS has no Support for it built in). But that isn't the big Problem. Third Party Apps can't access a lot of the Information that Smartwatches want to Display. They can't access e-mails or texts. They can't access phone calls.
So what Data exactlly would they transmit to the watch? Aside from that I'm currently hard pressed to see the Advantages of those watches, given that they can only work as a "slave" to a Smartphone with almost no functionality that they could provide on their own.
Also having troubles with Jabra Stone2 and Nokia Lumia 920 ... PBAP 1.1 supported by both devices but Stone2 doesn't say contact name for incoming calls ... Looks like Smart Watches will have similar issues when used with a WP8 ...

This is what MetaWatch mgmt said one year ago:
"The answer is "yes". As soon as Windows phone supports a Bluetooth data connection and a Bluetooth API for the app to use (which it does not yet, even in Mango), then we will support that OS."
i.e. according to the OEM it's the OS.

So Agent has got some 887 000 dollars funding, which looks promising. But I wonder, what does Agent have that none of the others, including MetaWatch who's run by the ex-Fossil team of the SonyEricsson MBW-150/200 BT watch line, or Sony or anyone else have got, to be able to get the BT API etc for WP8?

Microsoft have tried before, together with Swatch, no less, but didn't get it quite right to open the door to whatever market is out there.
