maybe it's odd, but...
1) is there any improvement in the camera launch speed app in the latest firms?
2) is there any improvement with the light/proximity sensor in the latest firms? sometimes i touch the screen with the ear...
3) is there any significant improvement in the in-call volume? and in the speaker?

In my experience it's no to all three. However, people have reported speed improvements in the camera launch but I haven't noticed it (though I haven't actually timed it either).
I'm on nordic 23.
Much better sound quality in the earpiece, camera loads faster.
nicer open animation and back and fowards transitions for all default apps (timescape mediascape etc)
battery was life like 10X better. wootz

I am more worried about the ability to make call will fewer clicks than improvements in of those three. I upgraded my X10i but recently acquired X10a and decided not to upgrade the firmware as making a call from contacts involves one extra silly step that is annoying on more frequent basis if you use your phone to make calls quite often. Unless I find a dialer that is as nice looking as stock one, I won't upgrade. Will wait for the next one promised in final quarter with 2.1

Well you can always jus hold the contacts name and several options would appear such as calling. to make steps easier.. instead of dialer shortcut on homescreen, put your phonebook app, that way as soon as you open it, your already in your contact list!!
there's other apps out they such as contacts blast, takephone, and so forth..
Hope it helps!!

Screen Filter. It's free from the marketplace. It tones down your brightness significantly under the lowest setting in TouchWiz.
I used to keep sunglasses next to my bed for sleepy-time Reddit browsing, but not any more!
Here's an A-B for you non believers. First photo is at lowest brightness setting in TouchWiz. Second photo is at 34.1% brightness (toggled by Screen Filter widget)

Weird. But still power-saver No1 !
Since there is a 2.3.5 leaked. There are lot of people asking for changes so Just wanted to make a thread keep to collective list.
Here is my take .....
Fonts are back to normal now. No more bold fonts.
Launcher now has circular scrolling on home screen n widget selection screen.
Sadly say bye bye to overscroll bounce and welcome bluish overscroll all over the place. Even in browser.
Better quadrant score almost 4000. For those who love benchmark.
Oveall faster than 2.3.4.
SIP support disabled.
No new GTalk. Sadly true.
Gallery UI is little change. There also you will see overacroll effect.
There is now noise reduction feature added when you call.
Reported by many users about Improved Sound Quality !!! . Its true !
When you set Vibration to Always, Icon remains in status bar even though ring volume is set !
Please post more you found on this firmware or upcoming leaks.
At the end we will get full change log... I will keep on updating main post.
Wow! Can you please explain how you're touching 4k in Quadrant?

Crazy things like that may be an indication that you need to do a wipe/reset or possibly a reflash.
Yesterday, after experiencing Dutch text popping up in my phone while set to US English, I reflashed a wipe version, and all is good.

This might not be an error, if you go to settings - sound - vibration, what is that set to? If its set to "always" then its working correctly then and the icon should be there right?
Same thing here with the vibrate icon - it shows unless you turn vibration off completely in the sound settings. Guess this is a new 'feature' of 2.3.5
Same for me with vibrate. Its because vibrate is set to always in settings.
I've found that camera seems to have lost its sound. Which is a good thing!
I also noticed what seems to be a marked improvement in sound quality. I am listening to music in Poweramp with no equalizer on, and it seems to sound better than my zune HD. Before, I used to cringe at the sound quality with no equalizer on. Now, the soundstage seems much wider, and the highs aren't muffled anymore.
Or maybe this is all just a placebo effect from seeing people post about it.
Can anyone else confirm this?
Doubt it's placebo mate. I'm quite picky when it comes to sound and straight away I could tell the difference.

Sucks that Supercurio finished his review before he got a chance to play with KI3.
All kidding aside it does sound better, maybe anandtech's article made Samsung rethink the sound quality?

What exactly is the point of overscroll anyway, I mean when you get to the end of a page you know your at the end of the page right? Why the hell can't they just put a toggle somewhere in the settings to turn it off? I don't mind bounce but glow is hideous, it always looks banded.

What version of android is XXKK9?
Is it 2.3.6?
I updated my Polish one from Handtec to XXKK9 last night after changing my region code but boy was it a pain the first time around. I had it hooked up to an older Windows XP 32-bit machine because I'm currently on an iMac and for whatever reason Kies failed halfway through the firmware upgrade and bricked my Note.
After three attempts I finally got the emergency recovery in Kies to work this morning and the Note upgraded to the latest 2.3.6 firmware. I haven't had a chance to test out the performance much yet but I'm just glad I got it working again because for a while I thought I had a new paper weight because all I was seeing when I powered it on was the smartphone->exclamation point->computer symbol telling me the firmware upgrade had failed and to put the device in recovery mode.
Also such a big improvement in Browsermark since 2.3.6, i am impressed. And battery life too.
Great battery KK9 ???
I tried it today and replaced it becaufe the battery is much much less than kj4.
I have intalled KKA this evening and test the battery tomorrow.
If it's not good, I return on KJ4 !!!
I don't understand how you guys are getting such high scores compared to mine
I'm using KK9 but only get around 2500 in sunspider and 80,000 in browsermark.

Well, your numbers aren't bad either.
I guess you are running the benchmarks without too much going on in the background, like not having more browser windows opened, not too many processes running and those kinds of details...
And about the battery, well, if you are actually using the device, we can make the battery drain quite fast, like on any other smartphone.
But I can say I have been surfing the web and playing videos (stored on the phone) for more than five hours without the battery dying on me.
Yes, XXKK9 is android 2.3.6.

Just read this article about the 1.29 OTA which is currently rolled out (sorry, it's in german): http://www.androidpit.de/htc-one-update-fotos
(you see before and after pictures, with after on the right)
I knew that HTC did something to the camera software, but I didn't expect the results to be THAT different, looks awesome! Like the author says, it looks like "the gray veil has been lifted"!
HTC One updated with camera enhancement suite and more in Europe
• Improvement to sound capture with Zoe
• Noise reduction in slow motion movie capture
• Improved color reproduction and dynamic range (reduced over-exposure in non-HDR images) in certain conditions
• Fix to display correct ISO in EXIF information when ISO settings are manually changed by the user
• Improved system performance and stability

WIth the update the 'Recently Played', 'Most Played' and 'Newly Added' are back
The Played song have a bold effect in the playlist, the played playlist too
And there's a new easy way to open a menu for every song, before u need to tap for a few seconds the song, now u can tap the arrow in the right corner to open the menu, also with album/artist (dunno if u can do that in album/artist before)
And I'm not sure, but I think LED eff works a little better, nor good enough as 4.1, but maybe is not Walkman related, because the light beat eff is not in walkman app, is in Settings>Display
I don't know why you all use the flickering led visualization. I thought the Walkman app is for listening music and not for watching "psychedelic colors". It's a not needed feature.

I don't know why you all use the flickering led visualization. I thought the Walkman app is for listening music and not for watching "psychedelic colors". It's a not needed feature.

Dude, the LED effects is the main reason why the SP stands "peculiarly" out with the rest of the Xperias with the LED strip design. You could say its just superflous but too others (including me), its a novelty function of the device itself...and to lose it after doing an update is just unacceptable. I'm hoping that this functionality is restored on the coming update (FIX as others call it) of the .266 FW.
