How to bring HTC widgets back? Plss assist... - Desire Themes and Apps

Sorry if already exists anywhere but I couldnt find a thread on same.
I have cleared the cache of HTC Sense via Program settings. After rebooting the device itself (unrooted HTC Desire) it seemed like factory reset and HTC widgets were no longer available; still same! Have restarted my phone number of times, no change! This was happened when I upgraded to 1.405.21.2 via FOTA update, but then they were back after the first reboot. This time nothing happens.
Please help to get my beloved HTC widgets back in my Desire.
Thanks in advance

Noone there who might advise how to do it

are you using sense launcher? or another one?

I have been (was) using only the original HTC Sense, no any 3rd party launcher.
As far as I see the only missing widgets are HTC Clock(s) and HTC Calendar, others in place.

Hi,
Go to:
settings --> applications --> manage applications --> scroll to HTC Sense --> clear data. This should restore the htc-widgets

Issues with Sense FroYo apps?

First of all, I apologise if this is meant to go in general, so mods can move it, and also if this has been asked before.
Anyway, I can't install Google Sky Maps, comes up with 'Unknown Error -18' and I can install Sense note widget either.
The thing that confuses me more is that I can install any app from CM6/Vanilla FroYo rom (Contacts, Car Home, Home Tips (br0 tips as it is on CM6) and even the CyanogenMod settings. Granted, I can only get to the CM settings via bettercut, and I don't think that most/any work, but still, its strange I can install it at all, right?
Just wondering if anyone has the reason for the strange behaviour.
Cheers

Well i know for a fact that the HTC Widgets like notes will not install on even a 2.1 eclair rom so that's why they still don't install on 2.2.
So its within the rom that allows the widget? I believe its included in LeeDroid.

Gingerbread Widgets!

I'm just wondering if its me or if there are hardly any Widgets that work in gingerbread? Its my first try and items like current widget install, but I can't see them in the widget list? Any ideas?

It works fine for me.
Weird I'm using mdj's latest build and can see the standard Widgets but not new ones.

Any advice anyone? Nothing is appearing other than the default items.
I had the same thing when using the SD version of that build.
Just reboot the phone and they will appear.
I've tried that to no avail

Go to settings, application manager find the widget you want and remove it on your phone memory..then it should be appear..!if a widget is saved on sdcard it want be showed on the widget section u have to manually save widgets on your phone memory because gingerbread saves all the apps first into sdcards
You are a star, thanks for your help

[DFT/CWM] NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.2 [Android2.3.2]
for the settings change, do it under the default messaging app. menu > settings > custom user-agent and then choose nokia n95. worked for me.
Doesn't work for me, either, though I changed to Nokia N95 :/

Go Launcher EX 2.1

Hi,
Anybody using Go Launcher EX 2.1 here?
A colleague mentionned it to me and I tried it out, looks very good, a lot of options from Launcherpro are in it and homescreens can be easily moved around.
However I have some bugs, and I was wondering if anyone else has these?
- when I drag & drop a shortcut, it just gets duplicated
- when I create a folder I can't drag anything in it, shortcut just gets duplicated on the homescreen, not even in the folder
- when I take a backup and restore it again, all my screens are empty. Widgets and icons are gone, only dock settings and app drawer settings are restored
cheers

Nobody ?

Install v2.2...
there's no 2.2 on the market...
funny thing is that I uninstalled and reinstalled the 2.1 again (2nd time) and this time everything works
Unless it's a new version but then the version info is wrong because it says still 2.1, both on market and application itself
Cheers

I used to, but went back to LeuncherPro because of lots of lags and tweaks.

Z4 Mod help

Howdy,
I am new to rooting but did some research before pulling the trigger.
I followed the instructions located at droid life. I would post a URL but since I am new I cant.
But I have been stuck at the Z4 MOD screen with the rotating circle for about 20 mins now. Help please....
Sometimes a reboot and try again does the trick.
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
Just let it go until it stops spinning (took me about 20-25 minutes) pull the battery, reboot, try again. It will be almost instant the second time
If you still don't have any luck, make sure to go into settings-->Applications--> development--> USB debugging. Make sure that usb debugging box is checked.
If that still doesn't help, try putting the phone into AIrplane mode and then try running z4root.

When I did it to mine I was also in airplane mode. You might want to try that
Ok thanks for the help. I waited about 40 mins and then closed the program and rebooted the phone. It took only 30 seconds and it was done..
So now that I have that done I loaded liberty 1.5
I also downloaded adw launcher as I heard it was pretty good.
My problem now is I cannot get it to set up my two other email accounts (hotmail and another ) like I had before. I also cannot get it to link some of my existing contacts to my facebook contacts (basically double contacts)
What am I doing wrong?

Ok so I deleted adw launcher and went back to the liberty controls. Doing that allowed me to join contacts into one. So one problem solved.
But I still cannot get my emails to work. I enter in all the info and I get this message : "unable to open connection to server"
Also I cannot find the original messaging widget that I had on the phone before. It basically was a large widget that had a preview of my text messages.
My email widget is missing as well...
Thanks for your help
When you installed liberty, you removed all of the stock apps aka blur apps. Liberty uses all aosp apps which do not haves the blur elements. This may explain why you can't do the email and it is why you don't have the messaging widget. If you still want the messaging widget I recommend you try gosms or hancent
Handcent is the way to go for sure. And honestly you should get a gmail account. It just makes sense if you use a Droid. Plus go into liberty tool box - addons and you can put back some of the blur stuff. I recommended the blur camera because the stock liberty camcorder doesn't support hd. Good luck!

Thanks. I do have a GMail account but do not do much emailing with it.
I will check out handcent.
Next question is my facebook widget is not keeping updated like it should. On the main widget screen you can scroll through new posts from all of your friends but for some reason it is not updating them. If I click on the widget it loads my facebook and everything is recent.
Any ideas?
Hmm not sure I don't use the Facebook widget. I use the twidroyd widget instead. I had the same problem but it got fixed when the app had a new update. Are other people having that problem? Might be the app. Try seesmic I hear they added Facebook support. He's the guy that made ping.FM so you know it's decent. Maybe check your app update settings and make sure its getting content.

There was an update and after it downloaded it seems to be updating again.
Thanks
After I turn the phone on in the morning it goes to that "dos like" screen where you can backup and restore, update, etc etc. It says clockwork mod recovery on the bottom. I usually click the first option and the phone resets and loads fine.
What is going on?
Also I would like a clock widget similar to the stock digital one. I like how the stock one would change weather forecasts when I changed citys.

The dos-like screen is a hikacked recovery for the X. It may seem like a hassle to always have to tell the phone to boot normally, but the one time that it bricks or has issues, then this recovery console will.be q blessing.

Bump, any help?
You could make a nandroid back up once a month or however often you make major changes to your system.
