Umm.
Oh, so THAT'S how Wired tether works on a non-sense ROM!
why not just use easy tether or pda net? they work on every rom, sense or vanilla
Try Ic3Rom. It has it built in if you pull down your notifications bar and select usb as if you were going to mount as storage.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for an overclocked kernel without voodoo? I have not been able to find an overclocked kernel that doesn't have voodoo. All the kernels on rom manager don't seem to be overclocked, and the only overclocked kernels I've found in the development section are dirks oc with voodoo. I do not want voodoo.. tried it and it was a nightmare to remove and I kept have strange problems with my fascinate. Thanks in advance for any help given.

Geeknik has an OC kernel for you. I know this was from months ago.
http://www.totalnerdity.com/sf/
There is not a very high chance that you will find an OC kernel that is non-voodoo. The OTB kernels from nemesis2all are very good and very stable, though. They are voodoo, but they are voodoo5 with the built in Red CWM that allows you to flash stuff with voodoo activated, and it also makes it easier to turn voodoo on and off.
If you are really that shy about voodoo5, though, I don't think there are any OC kernels that aren't voodoo.

Set CPU is for use on Overclocked Kernels, not to overclock per se.

I haven't. I think I'll stick to JT's latest for a while. It seems to be the only voodoo5 with the latest sound improvements that supports my BT headset.
Hey guys,
I've lost track on all the roms out there. So I hope you guys could help me finding a fast and battery optimized rom.
I'm currently using Darky's ROM, which is kind of nice,
but uses to much battery for me (only have 1.5 days).
I don't care about any special feature... just speed, market showing all apps and long battery life. Anything else is a nice to have...
thanks for your help
Hi,
Ive tried them all, but get best battery on darkyy 5.5, with voodoo advanced 1.1 oc 1200 kernel.
Dont know why but it is awesome!

how often do you need to refresh your battery?
And what is special about this kernel?

lol! How can you get the best battery when you overclock!?
I'm now running JPY stock and I think you get the best battery life by using the stock kernel (no overclock, no other filesystem like ext4). It's plenty fast as well...

Theres a good post from curio on why this works, will try and dig it out. Essentially, less processor time is used for the same number of commands. (Oc doesnt mean your devices constantly runs at 1200 mhz tho)

I installled smartbench and got 601
I then installed z4root and rooted it and then ran smartbench again and got 167??
I installed ryanza lagfix now im at 750
but i see everyones porductivity levels in the 1000's??
How can i get it to run the best, thing is laggy as hell sometimes
Try vodoo lag fix with Dow kernel on top of that which will allow you to overclock up to 1.4 ghz then you'll see astonishing scores over 2000. Even vodoo by itself will give you a score around1500- ish

How come my quadrant is only around 700-850?
Tweaks and optimisation in my siggy below..
It possible to get 1100 or up
You could only archive that by flashing 2.2/2.3
If anyone hasn't done this, do it! Great results!

Android 2.1 can only handle 299 MB of RAM.
Did you use an Task Killer before you started the benchmark ?
I haven't seen much more than 800 without 2.2+
in running 2.1 rooted, jit enabled, xrec busy box and superuser, systcl configured, all useless apps (including timescape) removed, and most of my apps running from my SD card using link2sd, my phone is just about as smooth and responsive as an iphone as far as i can see, it works amazing .. but my quadrant score is only average 700-800 and my linpak sits around 31 - 34
not sure if im doing anything wrong
all i know it my friend has a galaxy S with their new froyo and myn still feels as quick and smooth as his

yes. X10i. I root my phone, do some tweaks, clean alot of junk apk, use APP2SD Now my phone runs really smooth, play Dungeon defenders without lags.
anybody having problems with the wifi?
guys first i got only 500 without rooting and enabling jit
then i flashed my device to 2.2.1 froyo with cyanogen mod with extra memory heap
now i get around 1186 which is more than droid x or galaxy
i am trying some more tweaks once i got around 1250 but it was highly unstable
so i got back to my older settings
so 1100+ is possible if you have JIT+2.2+Extra Vmemory heap
yes see it is possible but format your data, cache and extra and even your SD to get full performance
I got 1500+ Quadrant score with CyanogenMod 6.1.1 (& 6.1.3 too) without APP2SD

U have to use clean 2.1 rom, root it, use app2sd, after that clean junk apks. change buildpro - dakvil = 26mb. use Launcher pro instead of orginal once. use battery doctor to kill task managers ( shuold put alot of sys apk on inogre list). That's all what I did. I don't install Jit v2 cuz I think it not good for .435. this version already stable, smooth.

I started this thread because i want to be able to use Sparksco kernel v14 but it freezes when its set to 1.0GHZ I been running v10 as my daily kernel and its bottomline on my top list of kernels. Any help will be much appreciated, im on the latest nightly CM255, i had to revert back to v10 because i need speed to check emails and surf the internet...If theres another update for the V14 in the future i hope that can be a fix or its probably my setup that prevents me from reaching any higher speeds, overall Sparksco you the man!!! By the way ICS devs yall get mad props peace...
I use sparks v14 kernel on cm nightly 255 clocked right under 1ghz using smartass governer no problem. I did a full wipe of everything, and formatted system before install of everything of course. Edit: I clocked it to 2ghz and no freezes here. Did you do a full wipe before the install of the ROM/kernel?

I'm going to have to give that a shot homie...
Kernel v14 is more geared for battery saving. I haven't updated the voltages yet because I'm not compiling gingerbread anymore, rather been working on getting a stable ICS rom build before I do more work on it. As soon as we get ICS gingerbread will be a thing of the past. Kernel v14 works good for some and v10 for others. I like v14 because of the battery I've been able to get on 122mhz min and 998mhz max. But if you up the min to the next highest setting (230mhz) you shouldn't get any lockups. Or even try 307mhz.
Edit: looks like 307mhz min is the only clock speed that allows me to overclock to 2ghz and not have any lockups. I'm also on cm nightly 255 pzguzman, and I always keep it on smartass governor.
P.S. The mods should be able to move this thread no problem without removing the comments or thread.

Yeah, forgot to mention as sparks said, at 2ghz the min is at 307mhz.

No luck but its amazing how you guys achieve the speeds... Tried the settings but my phone cant handle the pressure lol...Im gonna stick with this kernel tho... My bad for posting this thread in the wrong section its a rookie mistake...

By the way Sparksco i got your setup on my rom, fully functional overclocked at the max with no feezes, thanx homie...
YOU'RE USING THE WRONG GOVERNOR MIN/MAX SETTINGS
For example:
IF I want to get 2ghz out of my phone I use the performance governor and use min/max of 2ghz.
OR:
I would use:
Gov: Smartass
Min CPU: 300mhz
Max CPU: 1.5ghz
You would freeze too if you were a CPU constantly going from 100mhz to 2000mhz all the time!

Smartass2 was made for the HTC Sensation which is a dual core gsm phone much like the Evo 3D (but cdma instead). I could never get it to clock passed 1.4ghz so I don't think it likes our phones much. It's a great concept but the normal old smartass still works much better for the shift.

Again, it depends on the governor and the min cpu. I ran scary stable at 1.9ghz for 24 hours+ straight, no lockups.
for the heck of it I ran it @ the min of like 1something hz for the low and 2.0 max just to see how it ran, and it was solid.

I understand but say you ran scary at min 100mhz and max 1.9ghz with a gov of ondemand, that would freeze for sure on any phone.

I think what he's saying is that he ran this kernel (pershoot v14) with a low min and a high max and it ran fine.
