Anyone? Overclocked kernel without voodoo. - Fascinate General

Can anyone point me in the right direction for an overclocked kernel without voodoo? I have not been able to find an overclocked kernel that doesn't have voodoo. All the kernels on rom manager don't seem to be overclocked, and the only overclocked kernels I've found in the development section are dirks oc with voodoo. I do not want voodoo.. tried it and it was a nightmare to remove and I kept have strange problems with my fascinate. Thanks in advance for any help given.

Geeknik has an OC kernel for you. I know this was from months ago.
http://www.totalnerdity.com/sf/

There is not a very high chance that you will find an OC kernel that is non-voodoo. The OTB kernels from nemesis2all are very good and very stable, though. They are voodoo, but they are voodoo5 with the built in Red CWM that allows you to flash stuff with voodoo activated, and it also makes it easier to turn voodoo on and off.
If you are really that shy about voodoo5, though, I don't think there are any OC kernels that aren't voodoo.

Use the app setcpu I use it and it works great for overclocking

Set CPU is for use on Overclocked Kernels, not to overclock per se.

Geekin's 12/19/10 its in rom manager.

Have you tried the latest, RC3. Has some good feedback on battery life.

I haven't. I think I'll stick to JT's latest for a while. It seems to be the only voodoo5 with the latest sound improvements that supports my BT headset.

Quadrant scores before/after lag fix!!

This is on a rooted, running bionix 1.9.1 with jacs oc/uv current. With set cpu at 1200/200. Before ryans 2.2 lag fix= 956 after lag fix= 2458. Not to shabby. Lol

If you download ryanza oclf from the market. His imsrtuctions are pretty simple. I wrote them down after reading them in case I needed help. Lol

I tend to find this lagfix not nearly as effective as Voodoo or another fix that actually reformats the system space. My understanding is that RyanZA's lagfix creates a virtual drive on top of RFS, so it looks blazing fast on Quadrant, but in real use you still see lag. Also, it halves the available app space, which I dislike.
Where can I get voodoo for bionix 1.9 FINAL? I didn't flash 1.9 team whiskey with voodoo..
VibranT Bionix
I just rooted an installed Bionix Fusion 1.1 on my friends Vibrant last night, and while trying to apply Voodoo it seemed to be doing it, but doesn't appear to be installed.
When doing the update.zip method, it showed a screen saying something about "Voodoo Lag Fix..... Some weird characters on screen are normal......" then it flashes big blue lettering REBOOT and it restarts. Is that sucessful? How can I check if Voodoo actually applied? I see no difference and the quadrant score actually lowered a tiny bit. Do you HAVE to have setCPU for voodoo to do anything?
I rocked somewhere in the 1900 range with just applying z4mod (stock JI6) - stellar compared to stock.

To check if you have voodoo installed:
Download Terminal emulator from the market.
Open it and type "mount"
Look for /dev/block/
If it ends in a 4 then you have voodoo. If it ends in 2, you do not.

+1.
Although I'm lazy and hate typing stuff, so I just run Quadrant. If the score is ~1900, Voodoo is on; if it's ~950, it's off.

In the Dev forum, go to KingKlick's or JAC's kernel threads. I think they both have Voodoo versions of their kernels. I'm using JAC's w/ colorfix and Voodoo. You can just flash it over your current installation.

In terms of actual use, I think Voodoo is way better. I still saw some lag with Ryan's, but Voodoo is super smooth. Ryan's is a bit of fakery that hugely boosts Quadrant scores but does not do that much for you in real use.

Beta 4 is supposed to work on the early Vibrants with smaller NAND, but people have reported it working on some larger ones as well. You can find instructions in the forums to see which you have.
I think ill stick with ryans for now. My phone is really smooth now. Voodoo may be superior but its bit more complicated to work around. Im not comfortable enough yet to try it.

DJ05 kernels with BLN?

Are there any kernels that are compatible with dj05 that still have the bln notifications? I have the app to enable or disabe them, but evey kernel I have tried it said bln not available when I tried to turn it on in the app. I really can't live without them at work so I'm trying to figure this out by Monday. Currently running jt's 11/16 non voodoo uv and retrokids dj05 theme with stock ROM.

11/16 is DI01... Voodoo test 1123 1124 and 1127 were DJ05 kernels that had BLN, as I think was the non-Voodoo kernel packaged with Clean 0.5.

The 11/16 I have is one of the ones from Rom manager that goes with Super Clean - I'm hoping to find a non voodoo one I had a bad experience with that once.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Ok this is driving me nuts!!!!! I have tried just about every kernel on Rom Manager and when I go to the BLN app it says BLN notification not available on this kernel! I really need this - I'm even willing to try Voodoo again if I can get my BLN back!
Stupid Fast 1.5.4 has BLN. The BLN control app may say the device isn't supported, but it works perfectly anyways.

Voodoo5 kernels have bln
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I think I finally figured out - turns out there are something like 4 different versions of that BLN control app and you have to use different ones with different kernels. Now I lost my vibration but that's ok as long as I have my BLN!

Considering leaving Stupidfast for Voodoo5

I'm running Super Clean .9 with Stupidfast and i am considering leaving stupidfast for one of the OTB Voodoo Kernels. I need to know what i need to do to make it happen without killing my phone.

I saw a battery hit when going to Stupidfast 1.54 (may have been due to enabling BLN, not sure) so I went back to 1112_test_novoodoo and stayed there. Am I the only one still using that kernel? Has everyone moved on to stupidfast/voodoo5 kernels? Other than the annoying MMS problem that I can't even say is the kernels fault, I am completely happy with the 1112_test_novoodoo kernel.

I tried them both and can say I have enjoyed my experience with Voodoo5 and the 12/16 kernel much more then stupidfast. It just seems to have the best battery life and speed compared to anything else out. Also I have yet to experience any bugs like I did with stupidfast w/google maps 5 navigation not working correctly.
I would try out the non-voodoo kernels first to see if they work for you. If you are still unsatisfied try out Voodoo 5.

What is the best kernel for vibrant

Guys im ruining on nero v3 and jk6 modern and the voodoo 5 stick kernel that came with nero v3, with voodo enabled. so problem is that I run out of battery fast faster than stock jl6 on 2.1,so what is the best kernel with good battery life and performance. Stock kernel gives me some lag. So il avoid that one.

this is a result of "journaling" correct? I think we need to have the caveat that although voodoo kernels will run down batteries quicker... they also protect the integrity of the file system better.

Right, I am aware of the difference. I was curious as to which ROMs people were using that included the kernel, I didn't realise everyone had specifically flashed a smartass kernel.
Thanks for the clarification.
There aren't any roms that include this kernel. You flash separately.

I'm personally using drowningchilds 6-7 kernel, which has the smartass governor. The thread can be found in the aria development section
Sent from my cm7 Aria.
Drowningchild has a kernel for CM7 and one for Liberated. I use CM7 with the 6-7 kernel on smartass governor overclocked at 320-787.
On a side note, I did take the advice from drowningchild's kernel thread and it has proven to work: if you flash the kernel, do not flash the GPS old libs, as it will make your CPU usage skyrocket and you'll get horrible battery life.
