DJ05 kernels with BLN? - Fascinate General

Are there any kernels that are compatible with dj05 that still have the bln notifications? I have the app to enable or disabe them, but evey kernel I have tried it said bln not available when I tried to turn it on in the app. I really can't live without them at work so I'm trying to figure this out by Monday. Currently running jt's 11/16 non voodoo uv and retrokids dj05 theme with stock ROM.

11/16 is DI01... Voodoo test 1123 1124 and 1127 were DJ05 kernels that had BLN, as I think was the non-Voodoo kernel packaged with Clean 0.5.

The 11/16 I have is one of the ones from Rom manager that goes with Super Clean - I'm hoping to find a non voodoo one I had a bad experience with that once.

Ok this is driving me nuts!!!!! I have tried just about every kernel on Rom Manager and when I go to the BLN app it says BLN notification not available on this kernel! I really need this - I'm even willing to try Voodoo again if I can get my BLN back!

Stupid Fast 1.5.4 has BLN. The BLN control app may say the device isn't supported, but it works perfectly anyways.

Voodoo5 kernels have bln

I think I finally figured out - turns out there are something like 4 different versions of that BLN control app and you have to use different ones with different kernels. Now I lost my vibration but that's ok as long as I have my BLN!

Question for everyone

Does anyone else have like backround noise during calls on their fascinate? I didnt used to have it, I think it is from either the new voodoo kernel or the new rom i put on from jt. Not sure. Anyone else?
This does not belong in the the development forum.
Its noise caused from the backlights turning on during a call.
oh sorry, well now that you answered me. How do i make it stop doing that?
Take off backlight notifications.
I put the phone back to stock (removed voodoo kernel and took off JT rom) and the noise stopped
Can we just use the disable bln in Rom Manager? If I am not using a bln kernel than it should not matter right?

If you are getting BLN, you have a BLN kernel or installed a BLN mod. Using "Disable BLN" should fix it regardless.
Interesting that BLN causes background noise. I have background noise w/o BLN. There has to be a fix from Samsung.
I ran the uninstall bln from Rom Manager with no issues. I have not had a chance to test it though.

Anyone? Overclocked kernel without voodoo.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for an overclocked kernel without voodoo? I have not been able to find an overclocked kernel that doesn't have voodoo. All the kernels on rom manager don't seem to be overclocked, and the only overclocked kernels I've found in the development section are dirks oc with voodoo. I do not want voodoo.. tried it and it was a nightmare to remove and I kept have strange problems with my fascinate. Thanks in advance for any help given.

Geeknik has an OC kernel for you. I know this was from months ago.
http://www.totalnerdity.com/sf/
There is not a very high chance that you will find an OC kernel that is non-voodoo. The OTB kernels from nemesis2all are very good and very stable, though. They are voodoo, but they are voodoo5 with the built in Red CWM that allows you to flash stuff with voodoo activated, and it also makes it easier to turn voodoo on and off.
If you are really that shy about voodoo5, though, I don't think there are any OC kernels that aren't voodoo.
Use the app setcpu I use it and it works great for overclocking

Have you tried the latest, RC3. Has some good feedback on battery life.

I haven't. I think I'll stick to JT's latest for a while. It seems to be the only voodoo5 with the latest sound improvements that supports my BT headset.

No vibrate at all on fascinate

I am using jt's SuperClean Rom v 0.4 and geeknik's stupidfast v1.23 kernel all on DI01. I have no vibrate functionality at all on my phone. I tired enabling and disabling and reboot and that did not work. Any other suggestions for a simple fix?

Maybe you accidentally flashed a dj05 kernel? Try flashing a non stupid fast.

My vibrate stopped working, tried everything, called tech support and they decided the vibrate motor was dead. Two days later I had a like new, used but refurbed fascinate and all is well.

Did you go through Verizon or Samsung?
I'm on Verizon. I just flashed a different kernel and all is well. I thought they were supposed to work well together but I guess not.

Considering leaving Stupidfast for Voodoo5

I'm running Super Clean .9 with Stupidfast and i am considering leaving stupidfast for one of the OTB Voodoo Kernels. I need to know what i need to do to make it happen without killing my phone.

Learn what voodoo is/does
Read read read...be confident about what you're doing before you flash... I've been running voodoo for a while with no problems... Be patient during the data transfer and remember once you flash voodoo only use the RED clockwork recovery...

I love the performance boost I see with voodoo, but it seems to come at the expense of battery. Not sure why this would be, but it seems to be the case.

I saw a battery hit when going to Stupidfast 1.54 (may have been due to enabling BLN, not sure) so I went back to 1112_test_novoodoo and stayed there. Am I the only one still using that kernel? Has everyone moved on to stupidfast/voodoo5 kernels? Other than the annoying MMS problem that I can't even say is the kernels fault, I am completely happy with the 1112_test_novoodoo kernel.

I tried them both and can say I have enjoyed my experience with Voodoo5 and the 12/16 kernel much more then stupidfast. It just seems to have the best battery life and speed compared to anything else out. Also I have yet to experience any bugs like I did with stupidfast w/google maps 5 navigation not working correctly.
I would try out the non-voodoo kernels first to see if they work for you. If you are still unsatisfied try out Voodoo 5.

Voodoo or Non-Voodoo

Has anyone run the voodoo-ed superclean (either 2.2 or 2.3) in comparison to the it's counterpart non-voodoo-ed. I'm wondering if there's any noticeable difference. Or in other words if lagfix is worth it? I jumped from dl30 to 2.2 voodoo, and I was blown away, but I can't get my phone to act right, and I'm wondering if I should just wipe clean and start fresh with 2.3 non-voodoo-ed. Thanks for any comparison results you guys can provide.
Personally, I haven't had great lick going back and forth between voodoo and nonvoodoo. There are plenty of instructions on here that state how to do it properly, however. And you always have Odin (that is if your USB port is working...) to restore to stock if necessary.
I tried both, and personally I saw a huge improvement in speed and overall responsiveness with the voodoo version.
If you really want to be blown away, try jt's aosp v 0.7 -voodoo version. Its what I'm using now, and it will take alot to get me to switch.

Not familiar with that version. What base is it on?
Dl30. It's in the dev section. I would post a link but I can't from here.

Why are you still on that when EB01 has been released? Just curious.
Because my computer will not recognize my phone in download or as mass storage. I started a thread in the general section if you want to see what I'm talking about.

Is that just you having that issue or have others?
There are quite a few that have.

Is jt's AOSP completely finished and stable? I'd run it but I don't recall it being 100% complete...
Unless you need camcorder or mms, for the most part it's complete. I think the benefits of how fast it is and how good it looks outweigh the few things that don't work.

have you done a total wipe between upgrading between roms? have to flashed the eb01 modem with odin?

Thank you.
I could be mistaken but I'm fairly certain that Jt's .7 is running on eb01 or something like it. He has a custom kernel for the rom so I don't know how it works out, but I'm under the impression that it is eb01 at the moment, and you can use the eb01 baseband regardless
Edit: To the above, bluetooth is not working either, and thats a big feature for some
