Porting MeeGo to Android - Nexus One General

It would be nice to see a new project underway in trying to port MeeGo to android as the JavaScript speed seems to be faster than froyo, and has a nice UI.

Go buy an iphone. After a while you will be trying to find a way to port android. Ios is a waste of good hardware imo.....

If you want iOS buy an iPhone.
I have a Galaxy 3 and an iPad and my dad has an Iphone 3GS... I totally prefer android over iphone... You can do way more stuff because it is open source... If only developers would port ios apps on android... There are some really neat ios ones but mostly the App store is full of crap
shall we try porting windows 7 ultimate to sg3
Okey guys thanks for the information ^^

everything is possible .. but the whole idea is idiotic. no offense
I don't think iPhones and Android phones actually share the same architecture.
Porting iOS to Android phones would be like porting Mac OS X to PC. It's possible, but it's quite long, hard, and you end with a half-functionning system, full of bugs.
There's nothing that great in iOS in comparison with Android. Just a bit different approach on things. I have an iPad2 and I still love my G3 =)

Meego on Tegra 2 devices!

Nvidia has released Meego drivers for Tegra 2 devices...
Would be cool to have a Meego 1.2 port in our Atrix!
Don't know how possible is that, but it's a start!

Wow this would be great, I came from using the last good nokia phone N900 and it would be great if meego can be ported. Dual boot andriod/meego that would so cool.

Would love to play with meego. Was thinking about getting a N9 but if we get a port I would be so happy.

I'd love to see something like this. I've never used meego before, but I'm open to trying it.
I want a 2ndinit with gingerbread and meego: D

Would love to dualboot Android and Meego. There would be no reason to ever leave the Atrix if that happened.
What is Meego?

Kernel question?

Not sure where to ask this or even who. I had an hd2 and loved the fact that I could run android on it. I switched to a Samsung infuse 4g when I left t-mo.
From my experiences the hd2 ran android (an operating system it wasn't designed for) flawlessly. The infuse devs have jelly bean going but with some bugs that they can't figure out.
My question is why? Is it the kernel (still a gingerbread kernel) or lack of source from Samsung? Just curious how a windows phone can run android better than a native android device.
And I'm not knocking the devs, I'm super lucky to even be off froyo at all. Just curious.
Thanks!

Its the device itself. Though a windows phone, HD2 is very close to Desire and Nexus One. This made it that much easier for our awesome Devs to get Android working really well, along with some great skills and innovative thinking.

Port ubuntu os sounds great

Android 4.4

I heard a rumor 4.4 is good for old devices as it has better memory management and takes as little as 512mb of RAM. I can't wait for devlopers to make one for the dream/sapphire devices
this is the article I read: http://blogs.computerworld.com/android/23053/android-44-kitkat
Um, the dream has far less than 512mb, but still may run better than ICS or jb I would hope... But those willing to develop for the dream are few and far between

Too old to run Kit Katt.

if they do , it would be great . but i don't think it could be possible .
I don't personally own a Dream but the fact that it was the first android and still has plenty of love is nice. My last phone was a droid x and we never did get jb just a lot of ICS love and kk was ported few months back and it is very smooth. Since the dream got a cm10 port it should be easy for a dev to port cm11 to it. Even if someone made into a "proof of concept" ROM haha
