Does anyone have one or is it mainly the sprint hero being used here?
I have one and I love it so far.
It will probably mainly be Sprint for a bit since we've had the Hero a while longer but I'm sure more Eris folks will start showing up (Just as there are a few Cell South users around too).
They might all be hovering around their respective "root status" threads.
This one is yours:

Yeah I have one and i absolutely love it. I have had the following android phones and I think the Eris is the best... MyTouch 3G, Motorola Cliq, and now the Droid Eris.
love it
hey i got a Moto DROID on release day and ended up returning it a little over a week ago for the Eris.... I miss 2.0 and the the DROID had a little more speed, as well as the flash, and gps nav..... but i wouldnt trade my Eris for a thing....
I love my Eris, loved my G1, and was ehh with the MyTouch3G. The Eris has the best UI but the G1 was great for modding anything on the phone except the carrier (T-Mobile sucks).

I think once we get more familiar with the cdma bits you'll see the hero/eris reach a similar .level of customizability.
I totally agree. Once this phone is rooted it will beat all the other phones I have owned. I do miss Tue physical keyboard but not going to cry over it.
i got one and love it
Best new phone experience yet for a smartphone and just keeps getting better and better.

People,
The more high powered great Android phones out there is a good thing. Let's not bash the Droid X but welcome it to the family. There is a reason there are 160k android activations per day and it's because Android gives people choice. Choice of carrier, choice of form factor, choice of manufacturer.

haha welcome droid x
The Droid X has a lot more going on the accessories. That charging dock is pure sex, and the built-in charger for the car dock is a plus.

Download Twonky Server in the market.
SO TRUE!! ANDROID FTW!!! ( as oppose to evo or x )
I want the panorama assist.
Someone should pull that from the X, and port it to the Evo.
Or even better make a port of Sweep, it's a lot better than motorola's program.
You'll never truly enjoy the great phone in your hands if you spend time comparing it to everything else. The Evo has great specs, a great look, 4G, and an unbelievable dev community. If there's a way to boost our graphics, they will make it happen.
Even now, I thoroughly enjoy using my phone. It handles everything I do very well. It's the best experience I've had with a phone. Easily. Bigger and better is always around the corner, but I see myself hanging onto this phone for a long time.

here is a post from BGR showing flash on the droid X
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010/07/06/adobe-flash-droidx/
I think the Droid X looks like a great phone but I'm really in love with my EVO and wouldn't trade it for the world (or at least until HTC releases the follow-up possibly this Christmas). And spec-wise the EVO still kind of has the DX beat (as well as beauty).
I really love the Droid series though. I appreciate everything Verizon has done with the lineup and Android as a whole owes a lot to the Droid series for putting Android phones on the map. Their marketing is simply badassery! It makes me proud to see that it never fails that every time a Droid commercial comes on, everybody in the room pauses to watch. They really give Apple some fierce competition.

I agree. If it wasn't for verizon's marketing, no one but tech geeks would own andriod phones. That would be bad for the application market and choice of handsets.

Whatever it takes to make yourself feel better about your purchase...
I was bit by the shiny new toy bug when I first heard about the Droid X but it didn't take long to go away LOL I really like the EVO alot better, It looks nicer, is smaller and has a way better UI than the Droid X not to mention we will have Froyo long before Motorola releases it
Maybe you'll have froyo long before the driod x, but don't count on it. Motorola is very quick about their os updates.
I don't know. After seeing what the XDA developer community can do with phones, I find it hard to stray to a brand other than HTC. I wish the dev community got a cut of my phone purchases, because their work entices me more than HTC ever has.
I got this via tweet from mrweeeedbirdman, the person who provided you with the root for Droid X. He also mentioned "If all goes right...unbricker tommorrow/later this week...ill keep you all posted (should also solve the OTA update problem )"
Thanks hijackerjack for creating this.

To: Motorola Inc.
Alright everyone, so Motorola has started locking the bootloaders on their mobile devices such as the Motorola Milestone, Droid X, and in the future, most likely the Droid 2 and any other upcoming phones. Motorola mobile phones are usually extremely high powered, such as the Droid X with its TI OMAP 3630 Processor clocking in at 1 Ghz and the dedicated graphics chip, the PowerVR SGX 530. Us, as the Android community, have been greatly let down due to the locking/signing of the bootloader, restricting our access to install custom, homemade ROM's for the devices that take use out of the high quality hardware and software. We understand what they are trying to protect by locking the bootloader, but the the Android community is almost fully based off of ROM's, hacks, etc. Sign this petition if you would like Motorola to either unlock the bootloader for us or give us the key to unlock it manually.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
I sent this out to a few blogs. Engadget, Droid-Life to name a few only one had the "balls" to post something like this from its readers / fans.

It aint happening..
Why would they
Just so you know. This is my petition. I asked him to retweet. I've got ~300 people signed so far. Sign if you want. I also posted this in the android general forum on the site earlier.

They better unlock the bootloader.....
Not trying to be picky but if it says "To: Motorola Inc." and "Sincerely, the undersigned", shouldn't the body of it be written to motorola and not us?? Kinda like saying, hey motorola, look at this letter we wrote to ourselves and signed lol
Its not directed towards them. Its about them. Its directed towards the community to agree with this petition regarding the bootloader which i will then present to motorola when i get enough signatures. There was a layout that the site had and i just followed along.

Never hurts to try
Ive got over 510 signatures so far. Aiming for as many as possible. This goes to Milestone, Droid, Future Droid 2 owners, Droid X owners, etc.. not just Droid X
I've been pretty vocal in a few threads about Motorola not having to unlock the bootloader. Our decision to buy a locked phone kind of seals that deal.
However, I do support a campaign like this to try and convince Moto that its in the interest of customer service & retention to do so.
I applaud your efforts, and have signed the petition.
Signed, excited to see the outcome.
Sales up, folks still buying locked Moto Devices...
The ultimate act would be to stop buying the Moto locked products and start supporting the unlocked devices. O how i do love my DroidX but I am also loving the Incredible too. Wife hates when I tinker with her Droid Incredible. =P
All we could do is hope.

Agreed, without the developer community and their ROMs, Android would have been a flash in the pan.
i like to think that the number of people who sign it shows Motorola how big their 'hacker' base is.
so the more ppl who sign it the better the chances of taking it seriously.
lets say 100,000 people sign it, then motorola knows 100,000 ppl might not purchase their next phone.
of course if only 1,000 people sign it then M is gonna laugh at it cause they then think eh. whats 1,000 ppl loss vs possible bricked warranty exchanges.
adjust those numbers accordingly, is just an example lol...
just my 2 cents and i signed it!
Well. We'll see how this goes. Ive got 835 people right now.

Well, i don't live in the US so i only know Droid X from it's name... but i think it's very popular and when Google made the Android progress Video, it was the Droid X which made Android DOUBLE its popularity in no time...
i don't know about the Droid X much but that's what i think i might be wrong though
this kind of stuff just starts rumours
nexus 3
tablet=no
phone=no
nexus 3 exist?=no
will there be a nexus tablet in future?=yes(already confirmed by google[rumored to be LG device )
will there be a next nexus phone? yes ofc.
but it will never be like one 2,3 anymore.
the HTC nexus was the only numeric version.and will stay
unless its referred to DEV phone(yes nexus S is not a DEV phone)
the continuer of the nexus line will stay(as it was in the beginning)
in this order."nexus-" "any brand/style name w/e"
Lettery.....lol someone was high on google kool aid and forgot to spell check

I hit my back button on my ns once I read that part.
LOL nice article, but not really reliable, is it?
that guy just counts one and one together and tries to predict the next nexus?!
N1 had a 3.7" display, NS a 4.0", so the next one will get a 4.3"?!?! of course it's that simple!!!
so, whatever the next google phone will be, this article is of absolutely no value!
and even if it's not official, the motorola xoom is the first google-tablet. it is the reference product for honeycomb, runs stock android...so what else?
nah, i'm not gonna pay any mind to that. sure i wouldn't doubt a tegra 3, but he's just predicting the specs based off only TWO nexus models. 4.3" screen would be a good prediction as it's common these days, but to base it off the fact the n1 was 3.7, ns 4.0, is pretty lame.
Also, if google IS going to go with another manufacturer, i would bet LG before sony ericsson.
The only thing I will say is nexus 3 with tegra3 chip will be here in December and it seems LG is making it.

That's speculation. There was nothing flagship about the Droid X. Yes, the Droid X sold a lot of units. I think the original Droid was what skyrocketed Android into the market, though. Nothing flagship about either one though.

From what I have seen, there is no proof the mystery device is the Nexus 3. It does not have any indication of being of the Nexus line at all.

This is the correct name, not the X. It is a locked down & bloated POS.
The Flagship for Android has been the Droid Series due to the original Droid commercials. But after the original came out they went downhill locking bootloaders and giving the finger to Dev's.
I would personally like to think the G1 was a flagship, it sure turned me on as soon as it was unveiled.
IMO I think the Nexus tablet will have Tegra 3, and the Nexus 3 will have a second gen dual core processor!!
would love to see one
that may have been the us flagship but not world wide because they arnt nearly as big over seas
Droid Ultra, Droid MAXX, Droid Mini, and last but not least, the Moto X!
The Moto X won't be a Droid on Verizon, since Motorola wants to keep it as close to a Nexus as possible.
My Droid 4 has been a workhorse, but I think either the Droid Ultra or Moto X will be my next phone.
Any thoughts on this?

My only thought is "No hardware QWERTY keyboards".
Lol, probably should've expected that in this forum
I understand that a qwerty keyboard is amazing, but I understand why many OEM's are ditching them to get thinner phones

I don't.
I don't see much in the moto lineup that is bringing anything new to the table in as far as the same sort of thing is available from Samsung, HTC, etc. If the Moto X could have a back cover you could remove, and attach a QWERTY keyboard slider instead, then I might be a bit more interested. Choosing the colour, or etching, or whatever? Big deal.
Well there are reports of Motorola dropping in a camera technology called 'Clear Pixel', something that's new to smartphones. If the Moto X doesn't impress, then I probably will be heading to the Droid Ultra
Sent from my DROID4 using xda app-developers app
what's this about the double locked bootlaoders? Also, where's the qwerty?
If you're prepared to lose the hardware keyboard, may as well just get an HTC One or Galaxy S4 or something.
Personally I don't see the need for thinner and thinner phones. Whenever I handle my GF's Galaxy S3 I'm always afraid it will snap if I'm not really really careful with it.
Also, thicker phone means bigger battery, and seeing how there is nothing in the near future that will allow us to squeeze more power into a smaller space, it would make sense
The battery is the biggest bottleneck in technology IMHO, whether it be phones, laptops, or even electric cars
I think with google buying motorola. I Dont feel like buy a new device anymore. So droid razr m and droid 4 are my last phone from them. It started in 2011 when google told motorola probably to lock the backdoor from their device with razr. Motorola took dedicated button for shutter camera unlike 2010. Last year it was probably because of google that moto choose to lock the sd card and micro sim card option in droid razr hd/maxx and m like the iphone like. Now this year no sd option.
Im not liking Google temparing with Moto as they are
