trying to setup google voice to route messages but it fails
anyone set this up and how? is this an ATT restriction? in case it matters, Aria is rooted.
How does this have to do with the sim card, and no google voice it an application...carriers have no control over what you install on your phone, I have sprint navigator and sprint tv installed on my mytouch slid with tmobile and they work

No there is no AT&T restriction. I was using it before I rooted my Aria just fine for voicemail and outbound calling. Working fine after rooting as well.

My AT&T Aria is working (using orange.fr sim) internationally here in France with the following oddities:
- sim carrier selector app always crashes
- no 3G ever, just Edge
- gps and edge interfere so only one can be on at a time
Maps as u can imagine is a bit crippled. Everything else works ok. Love using SIPdroid to call home

Hi all, I have a mytouch 4g that has the virtuous unity rom. Everything works except allowing me to make calls via cell tower. I get the error message that my sim does not allow a connection to this network.
It's not the sim card. I've tried three different ones that works on my htc sensation fine. oddly if I put in an ATT sim, it works. Wth? This makes me think it's a radio software? So I reverted back to stock and the problem still exists. No Tmobile. I've reflashed the radio too but it's still not working.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
So you tested it with the newest stock radio? It could be hardware issue as if it was bad radio flash you have 90% chance it would be hard-brick. I suggest you contact TMo and try to get replacement if they don't allow due to 3rd party vendor purchase then RMA to HTC under warranty.

No, not the latest. I used the stock one that's for tmous 2.2.1. Is the radio dependent on the rom? If not, I'll give it a try.
It was purchased off craigslist. Htc warrants non original owners?
Its ur sim card nothing to do with radio

Not sim. I've tried three different ones. Even took it to a Tmobile store where a friend of mine works and he tried his sims there. Same problem. He then unlocked the phone and when he inserted an ATT one, it works off ATT but not Tmobile.
Press *#*#4636#*#* and the phone information run a ping test and give me a feed back also check more down it says radio off and wcdma perferred or something like that

Side note, home come when an ATT sim card is inserted, it can make calls out?
If u have insurance on ur contract yes just don't say u bought it from someone just call costumer care and say ur phone ain't working and u went to corporate office and they trouble shot it and did a master reset and they said u have to get a equipment replacement

1.Phone could be SIM locked
2.Issue with HW
I would make sure the phone is unlocked first, but don't use that gfree unlock(CID), others have had SIM issues after using that method for unlocking. If you used gfree CID, undo that and use an actual unlock code. And if that still doesn't fix anything, try and get a replacement thru Tmobile or hTc support. Either one should work if phone is still under warranty.
So have an AT&T SIM in my unlocked Nexus 4. I use all the default APN's and try to connect to the only mobile network available, "HOME" but it just tries to register on it forever without success. It doesn't work with the APN settings ST recommends on their web site. I haven't had a phone for a week and I could really use some help.
Thanks.

When you say "an AT&T SIM", do you mean an actual AT&T SIM card from AT&T, or a Straight Talk SIM card compatible with AT&T's network?
If it's the former, then you need to buy a new SIM card from Straight Talk that works on AT&T's network. Lucky for you, they just got back in stock.
If the latter, then I couldn't really help you. Make sure you are typing the correct APN in, try rebooting the phone, try dialing *#*#INFO#*#* and messing with the preferred network type under phone settings, make sure your SIM is fully activated and capable of bringing down data/voice/sms. That's really all I got.
It's a ST SIM compatible with AT&T's network.

JooshPole,
Are you using an old sim from a different straighttalk phone? If that is the case then you would probably need to use the old apn settings, if not then let me know and I'll try and help you out.
Does anyone know how I might try to activate a 4G phone on Verizon's network while here in Alaska? Verizon has 4G towers, but rents 3g towers, and the phones use 3g to activate a SIM card the first time. I have two phones, one I with a SIM card I activated in the lower 48, and it activates any phone I put it into. However, I got another phone and it came with a brand new SIM card, and I start it up and it tries to call the *228 or whatever number to activate itself on the 3g, which does not work, and Verizon is pretty worthless for this sort of thing... Anyone have any ideas?

Verizon should be able to manually activate it if you call them. if they won't the first time then call again. are you trying to have a new phone/line or just wanting to use the phone on your current line? why not put your old sim in?

They could not figure it out... It was possible but difficult back when we only had 3G, but the 4G phones can't activate without a 3G connection... Until VoLTE gets up and running, I assume... The new phone is running with my old SIM, but I wanted to activate the old phone with the brand new SIM. I added a line so I could upgrade without losing my unlimited data, and could find a use for the extra line, but right now no luck.
