My AT&T Aria is working (using orange.fr sim) internationally here in France with the following oddities:
- sim carrier selector app always crashes
- no 3G ever, just Edge
- gps and edge interfere so only one can be on at a time
Maps as u can imagine is a bit crippled. Everything else works ok. Love using SIPdroid to call home

Hi all,
I have a SGS with a mobile virtual network operator (Simyo in Spain, over Orange network).
The problem is that the mobile says it is in roaming, so I have to activate Data with Roaming to have Internet over the mobile network. If I travel abroad and forget to deactivate this option the bill could be quite high.
Is there a way to configure the SGS so it knows it is using local networks with an MVNO?
For example, a HTC Hero in the same networks has not this problem and detects well local carriers.
Thanks.
I know this post is some kind of.. old.. But try this App:

trying to setup google voice to route messages but it fails
anyone set this up and how? is this an ATT restriction? in case it matters, Aria is rooted.
How does this have to do with the sim card, and no google voice it an application...carriers have no control over what you install on your phone, I have sprint navigator and sprint tv installed on my mytouch slid with tmobile and they work

No there is no AT&T restriction. I was using it before I rooted my Aria just fine for voicemail and outbound calling. Working fine after rooting as well.

I tried to get answers from T-Mobile's forum to no avail so I will post here.
I was driving between Milwaukee and Green Bay a couple of weeks ago and lost all service on my phone. When I got back I looked at T-Mobile's coverage map and they had the area listed as roaming on their "partner network". Presumably my phone should have been able to make/receive calls on this network but was not.
I had my settings correct with Data Roaming enabled and whatnot so I can't figure out why I couldn't get on the roaming network.
Some background - I've rooted the phone and am using Enom's pre-Christmas ROM release with the associated kernel that comes with it.
Any help on this?
I know data wouldn't work on any net but tmob, voice should work for sure if u were sim unlocked

On my old wildfire s it had a pre-installed app from orange called signal boost, which allows me to make calls and texts through WiFi, using my number and contract. As I live in the country side I only get signal if I leave my phone by the window. I would like to know if it's possible to run that app on my nexus 4 and I no longer have my wildfire s so don't have access to the apk unfortunately.
