2G option disappeared... - Galaxy S I9000 General

My 2G only settings option disappeared after upgrading firmware to JG1. Any thoughts?... Any other method to change the setting?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

im running jg1 an still have it under setings/wirless an networks/mobile networks.

Yeah this is really weird :S...
I just have
"Data roaming"
"Access point names"
"Network operators"
In that order. 2G only option is gone...
Running G1, although my CSC is F9 (from the FF firmware package).
I wonder if it's my CSC setting, since I changed it to UK (H3G)... perhaps H3G is 3G only? I'll see what happens if I change it in the CSC menu.
EDIT: ****... it works, but I didn't realise changing CSC erased everything.... This is about the 5th time I've lost all settings and apps on my phone... man that was stupid...
I wish I had my original Australian (Optus) CSC. It doesn't seem to be available for download anywhere...

Problem with Vodafone UK

I updated my Galaxy S with Froyo 2.1.1 I900XXJPX by patching Kies.
Now I cannot use the device in 3g mode with Vodafone (it works with 3UK).
If i try and dial a number it just hangs on the dialing symbol.
To receive or make calls with Vodafone I have to set the device to GSM only.
I have used the option to set my CSC code to XEU , but still does not work.
Any thoughts ? (was fine before i flashed it).
Mark
Flash back to 2.2 or 2.1 and see if problem is still there.
Have you checked your APN settings?
You may have to reinput this data manually if its not there to make it work again.
You will be able to find the APN settings from the vodafone website.
Settings>Wireless and network>Mobile networks> APN.
APN settings link

No network Available

I just flash gingerbread on my galaxy s once rebooted it doesnt recognize my network, I make a network scan but my network Claro Puerto Rico dont appear.
Any guess or help??
Check your APN settings, if backed up, restore, reboot
Sent using TCP/IP
Check your csc code by either
Download nitrality from market and then go to tools
or type *#272*your imei#
Changing csc will factory reset your phone..
@ Talon: since Spetember edition, *#272.... is not making factory reset, just reboot.

You mean 2.3.5 onwards? ok thanks for letting me know.
Best to warn just in case though may not be on the latest yet
Yep, tested recently with JVR... no factory reset anymore
making things easier, isn't it?
EDIT:
originated from Click
I tried it on JVR, stock, odexed... worked without FR (speedmod kernel). Cf kernel, deodexed Ramad's ROM - worked without as well on JVS.
I'm not sure if some customized kernel/ROM will not cause the FR...
I just went to the phone company and they flashed from froyo to gingerbread 2.3.3 but still having problem the data icon stay still on letter E and start to flash on and off constantly.
When E flashes, it means, that EDGE network is available, but phone cannot connect to it. Usually, it means problems with APN settings.
Go to Setings - Wireless Networks - Mobile Networks and Access Points. You shall have some access points available. If not, try to ask your operator to send you setup sms or try so search on internet to find the setup rigth for your operator.

Hi,
The first thing would be to check your CSC and modem firmware. Use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app to get all major info about the phone. It is important to know when you are going to flash another stock firmware.
I had issues last week with data and it was caused by bad CSC/modem. Flashed everything back to stock with official firmwares from SamMobile and it fixed my issues. After that, I was able to flash my custom ROM and everything is smooth sailing since then.
Let me know if you require more help.

Thanks for help bro. I took a screen shot of my info. I'm not sure why it shows bmc when I downloaded the rwc files. And is the product code correct?, also I never seen the code for csc modem before. Is it not suppose to match baseband, pda, bootloader
Everything is good, you're almost there.
You have the right firmware but now you need to fix your CSC. The stock ROM is multi CSC so Rogers (RWC) is already installed but it chooses Bell (BMC) by default. What you can try :
- Power off your phone
- Remove SIM card and power on (your phone will start and say : no sim card)
- Power off and wait a moment
- Insert your Rogers SIM card and power on your phone in Recovery Mode (Volume Up, Home and Power on boot). If you have:
#manual mode#
--appling multi-csc...
applied the csc code : RWC
successfully applied multi-csc
That means that your CSC has been changed to Rogers. Problem should be fixed.
If not, the app you downloaded contains a CSC Changer but it will wipe your data. Make sure to have backups beforehand.
Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks for all the help man, did the sim thing and it just loaded me into twrp and i didnt see an option so I changed it via the app. Same thing still got the 4G and bell bloat. But csc now says bmc/rwc
Ok. Try this now :
You must dial the following key sequence to bring up a regional carrier menu: *#272*[IMEI]# (that is *#272* (your IMEI number) #) - You'll find your IMEI in the Phone Info app.
When the menu comes up, select the regional code for Rogers RWC. The phone will now go through a reset/boot sequence and come this time, it should read the APN settings from your SIM card and viola, you now have LTE. If you do not see LTE but 3G, you will need to ensure your APN settings are correct and then go into the Network Mode and ensure you have LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto mode) selected.
Let me know how it goes.

I actually did the last sstep you mentioned below this morning (found the steps online ) and it still didn't work lol, so technically when i did it in the app it was my second time restarting the phone. Not sure what's going wrong here. Seems like bmc still lingers around. Haha don't give up on me

Don't worry, I'm not giving up on you
When you flashed back to stock ROM, did you do a full wipe before?
It is really important that you do a full wipe so that it doesn't leave any traces of your old installs.
Try to flash via Odin (while your phone is on Download Mode). Check the AP and the CSC box and input the stock file from SamMobile.
Let me know if it fixes it.

Problem with the apn setting

Recently unlocked my Samsung Galaxy s7 edge. I decided to transfer my sim from my iPhone to my Samsung. I can text and call but my mobile data is not working. I believe it has something to do with my apn settings. But once I try to go to my apn settings it says "Unable to view access point name. Access is restricted to current user profile.
Would love to have someone to help me fix this problem.
What carrier is your s7
Globe (from the Philippines) gotnit unlocked and moved to Canada and using a Canadian sim atm
Sounds like a common problem going back to the introduction of mm. Carries implemented it to stop users from getting free Hotspot usage without them having the feature on there plans.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/apn-settings-t3072391
Here's some info I found on it with a possible fix on one of the post. Also the sprint s7e forum has users talking about losing the ability to change apn after OTAs
Sorry my Internet is dreadfully slow and having a hard time browsing through this forum. So do I have to root my phone in order to make the modifications to get my 3g to work?
Still having problems but I'm getting somewhere..
The carrier I bought this phone from did some retarded modifications to this phone.
So most likely the problem is this "user profile" it might be fixed if I can change or delete it or whatever. But the problem is I can't find the place where you can change this user profile. It seems it's supposed to be in "about device" but there is nothing that could change the user profile. I think the previous carrier somehow modified it stupidly. Reformatting doesn't help BTW.

I have the same problem. Did you get this fixed?
Globe-locked S7 unlocked.
Same thing here. I just recently unlock my phone using the unlock code given to me by Globe telecom but when I use different sim network, I can only do call & text. I contacted Globe and the agent told me that unlocking is for call & text only and mobile data still locked to Globe.
Can we bypass this by reflashing openline firmware or wait for Oreo update?

After the Oreo update, I still have same issue. But before I upgraded to Oreo, I managed to fix the issue. I was trying to root my device (Nougat), unfortunately, it failed. So I downloaded openline firmware (PH version) for S7 in Sammobile and reflashed. I think I missed flashing CSC file but it was successful. The other sim network worked fine and can be used for data already. But when I checked for OS updates, it has no CSC code indicated, and my settings interface was like from UK (not sure). So I reflashed again with CSC file already and it got back to Globe interface and same issue occured. Haha. But the point is, we can fix the issue by changing CSC.

Great mate! What csc can we use? Thanks!
CSC Codes
Google the list of CSC codes per country.
To change CSC code, enter *#272*Device IMEI#
Tried XTC (Philippines - Open Line) and it worked.

Unlocked GS7 Network Selection menu?

I have my GS7 unlocked. Working on AT&T Network, LTE fine. But at some point I will lose signal and then it won't connect to network until I restart the phone.
Then I noticed...I don't even have a network selection menu.
Is there a code to get to the menu manually and manually set it only connect to the gsm network modes.
Are you using the Stock G930P rom or the G930U one? Cause the G930U for what i've seen preforms the best once unlocked
Stock GH1 g930p....I didnt feel the need to flash the U version. But maybe I will.
I found an app that let me set to gsm/lte

What app?
FYI: Sprint PF1 firmware has network selection enabled, I believe it was disabled thereafter, just like hotspot and apn editing.
Anyway, the app was "Network Mode"
