Hi,
The first thing would be to check your CSC and modem firmware. Use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app to get all major info about the phone. It is important to know when you are going to flash another stock firmware.
I had issues last week with data and it was caused by bad CSC/modem. Flashed everything back to stock with official firmwares from SamMobile and it fixed my issues. After that, I was able to flash my custom ROM and everything is smooth sailing since then.
Let me know if you require more help.

Thanks for help bro. I took a screen shot of my info. I'm not sure why it shows bmc when I downloaded the rwc files. And is the product code correct?, also I never seen the code for csc modem before. Is it not suppose to match baseband, pda, bootloader
Everything is good, you're almost there.
You have the right firmware but now you need to fix your CSC. The stock ROM is multi CSC so Rogers (RWC) is already installed but it chooses Bell (BMC) by default. What you can try :
- Power off your phone
- Remove SIM card and power on (your phone will start and say : no sim card)
- Power off and wait a moment
- Insert your Rogers SIM card and power on your phone in Recovery Mode (Volume Up, Home and Power on boot). If you have:
#manual mode#
--appling multi-csc...
applied the csc code : RWC
successfully applied multi-csc
That means that your CSC has been changed to Rogers. Problem should be fixed.
If not, the app you downloaded contains a CSC Changer but it will wipe your data. Make sure to have backups beforehand.
Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks for all the help man, did the sim thing and it just loaded me into twrp and i didnt see an option so I changed it via the app. Same thing still got the 4G and bell bloat. But csc now says bmc/rwc
Ok. Try this now :
You must dial the following key sequence to bring up a regional carrier menu: *#272*[IMEI]# (that is *#272* (your IMEI number) #) - You'll find your IMEI in the Phone Info app.
When the menu comes up, select the regional code for Rogers RWC. The phone will now go through a reset/boot sequence and come this time, it should read the APN settings from your SIM card and viola, you now have LTE. If you do not see LTE but 3G, you will need to ensure your APN settings are correct and then go into the Network Mode and ensure you have LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto mode) selected.
Let me know how it goes.

I actually did the last sstep you mentioned below this morning (found the steps online ) and it still didn't work lol, so technically when i did it in the app it was my second time restarting the phone. Not sure what's going wrong here. Seems like bmc still lingers around. Haha don't give up on me

When you flashed back to stock ROM, did you do a full wipe before?
It is really important that you do a full wipe so that it doesn't leave any traces of your old installs.
Try to flash via Odin (while your phone is on Download Mode). Check the AP and the CSC box and input the stock file from SamMobile.
Let me know if it fixes it.

Have you checked your APN settings?
I can't make even phone call. APN...What to check in particular? wifi and gps are working fine. tried service mode... it says signal strength 0db.
My wifes is the same way it cant lock on a service provider after factory restore only way it works is with a custom rom cant figure it out
Contact your network and enter mobile network settings manually .
jje
flash to custom rom maybe?
it's your APN settings
just google your APN settings... i.e. i'm with Bell mobility... if I google Bell APN I will find the info I need... that data goes into settings>wireless>mobile networks>access point names
hit the menu button and add apn.... bell's examples are here http://androidforums.com/samsung-i7500/87145-bell-mobility-apn.html
they are carrier specific obviously
Hi All,
This happened to me before and I was as frustrated as you and when I was about to give up, I tried one last restoration, but only this time I did it correctly. After that, I restored 5 different versions of Samsung Galaxy S stock ROM back to my Samsung Galaxy S. One of these versions were Chinese, and everything was in Chinese.
Samsung Galaxy S had no signal was because the modem file was missing while you were performing the restoration.
Now, all you have to do is go to this page and follow the instructions to restore the Stock ROM back to your Samsung Galaxy S.
You can try to install a different rom just in case. I had the same problem and i tried to fix it applying different modems but that wouldnt work so i ended flashing cyanogenmod and back to another custom rom and that did the trick.
Even flashing back to the latest official rom for my country and operator.

Hi guys been searching all day when I can grab some free WiFi, basically I rooted my s4 gti9505 with auto root and then installed custom recovery, and flashed PAC rom. I'm unable to make calls or receive mobile data but can use WiFi. My settings say baseband unknown .. I'll attach a picture of my settings here in this thread. I have attempted to flash a modem/radio in Odin but this didn't seem to make any difference, the problem is I'm not sure if it was the right thing to do (didn't make a back up of my phone foolishly before flashing PAC rom)
I'd appreciate any help with this guys! My network is vodaphone UK if that makes any difference to any advice given...
Thanks in advance!

will do this too, have just finished flashing MGA modem twice using your steps, will flash rom again..i wonder if i should wipe/factory wipe as i would when installing new rom...ill try it!
no luck -still no network. im running out of ideas
network - unknown
mobile network type - unknown
imei unknown
imei sv - unknown
going out now for a while but thought id ask - do you think that installing official stock rom (perhaps from your s4 unrooting guide) would help flashed via odin? from searching i can see that some folk suggest that stock will reinstall everything i need...im hoping so, i really wouldnt mind going back to stock, anythings better than this

did you put modem in "phone" in odin?
hmmm weird! i guess your imei is not corrupted, sometimes while flashing rom in cwm, efs partition is not detected, so flashing modem twice should work
you can try with an other modem, use new one (but im sure to flash it twice)
another option is trying to flash your stock firmware

yes put it in "phone" mode, thats the second or third one i have flashed now so im not sure it wont help but for sure ill try again!
are you able to determine that its not corrupted? would it state as such if it were? im going to flash a stock firmware as a last resort. lost after that haha
edit - installed cwm using sgs4 flasher and re-installed my custom rom and gapps, booted no probs and network now working - sorted!! thanks for your help i dont think i would have reflashed the rom without your advice to do so
So I'm practically in the same boat. I'm currently on P.A.C. man nightly 09/18 (Vodafone Germany branded device). I never had similar problems, but now I can't call (or be called) and I'm not able to use mobile data.
I nearly tried everything:
1) I checked the IMEI (saved it before switching over to custom roms), but an IMEI number is still there.
2) Went back to stock to see if it's a problem of P.A.C. man ROMS or not. On stock it didn't work either.
3) Went back to P.A.C. man ROM and flashed modem XXUBMF8 via Odin 3.04 (from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025)
4) Flashed the modem again after I flashed the ROM because it didn't work either.
So I'm completely lost now, I really don't know what to do next. I had mobile data for a couple of seconds every now and then, but nothing stable. And since the problem came up (yesterday evening) I can not make any calls at all.
Can someone help me?
Edit: The very strange thing is that I have full reception balks in the notification area (only in grey). But still, I guess this means that the device is somehow able to detect a signal but can not connect to it?
Edit2: I apparently have no Device-ID. May that be a problem?
So I took some screenshots to show you guys my problem a bit better. For some reason my mobile data now works (currently HSPA, but it's extremely slow). But I still can't make any calls (or get called too). =/
Edit: So to sum this up: the strangest thing about this problem is, that even when I go back to full stock I can't make calls. =/ What could be the problem? An IMEI number is present in the settings (althouh the 'IMEI SV' under 'About phone' --> 'Status' was one digit below the current one that I can see under those stats). The whole problem makes me believe that my provider can't sort my phone number to my device (I'm on Vodafone; but if that's really the case: why the hell does mobile data works sometimes?!). The other possibility: something with the modem/radio is broken. Could this be the problem? The thing is that I also tried to flash a custom modem, but the problem is still there...
I'm really concerned that my phone just became an expensive paperweight
Slightly different than my problem in that I didn't even have any bars for reception..my problem was fixed by changing the custom recovery software (originally I used philz to flash PAC), But I flashed cwm and then used this to again flash PAC, and all was good..don't ask my why but it helped me so you might want to try this...

Thank you for your answer!
You also flashed a different modem didn't you? Did this help or was it only the custom recovery? I'm confused because I used CWM before and never had problems. But then this mess all came up...
Yes I flashed several modems, that didn't help..only using a different custom recovery to flash my custom Rom again helped..hope you get sorted!

So I tried to flash PAC with TWRP 2.6.0 (it worked before), but the problem is still there.
I'm really confused. I really don't know what I can do or try to fix this mess... Is there some USSD code or something to find out if my device is missing some ID codes or if the modem is messed up or something?
Edit:
Update: For some reason I now can receive calls/SMS but only when I'm on GPRS speed. Outgoing and ingoing calls are no problem then. When my device is on HSPA or HSPA+ speed however, the old problem of not being able to call or be called is back. On one hand it's good that I'm somehow able to make calls again on the other hand it gets stranger and stranger. I know that it's a bug on PAC man ROMs that you can't change the mobile data speed options (LTE/HSPA/GPRS etc.), but I think that this could be the problem (or at least a part of it)...

Actually I can change the data in my phone between 3G and 2G (don't have LTE support here in my country)
Have you checked your APN? Think that might be a problem.
Also please post the steps you take before flashing PAC (ROM, kernel, recovery, etc)

Within Wireless & Networks --> Mobile Networks --> Network Mode? On PAC? It always crashes when I try to change something there. In the PAC bug post this seems to be a known bug, my mode is also set to GSM/WCDMA/LTE. But whenever I enter the settings to change this, only 'LTE' is chosen as option. I don't have LTE on my plan and I read somewhere else that Vodafone has major problems with it's LTE network here in Germany and that it may be better for customers without it to turn it off.
About APN: there is definitely something strange. I can enter the settings and I see three different APNs that were not created by me (they must be the standard carrier ones): they are called Vodafone DE (for Germany), 1und1 (pretty strange because the settings are the very same on this one, only the name is different) and Vodafone DE-MMS.
The strange thing now is that I can't change any value of the Vodafone DE APN... When I go into its settings, everything ia greyed out. This was the same on the stock ROM...
Now when I create a new APN with the correct provider settings (found via Google on the VF homepage), the phone still won't work. When I put the device aside for a few minutes, the Vodafone Deutschland DE APN is the selected APN again although I never went back to it...
Is there some option to take a deeper look into the modem stats to see what's the problem?
Install stock ROM

I tried that already, but it didn't help. Same problem...
I factory resetted the phone, wiped cache and dalvik cache and then flashed my Vodafone branded stock ROM via Odin that I had on my device when I got it. Didn't help for some reason... But: should I also try to go back to stock ROM via KIES? I haven't tried this method until now...
Edit: About my flashing method: I went from the stock ROM to rooted (via CF Auto root with Odin). For PAC I then flashed TWRP 2.6.0 and then in recovery factory resetted the phone, wiped cache and dalvik and then installed PAC. After that I installed GApps. I used this method before and it worked without any problems...
Edit2: I found this thread, it appears to be the same/a similar problem with the S3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1805709&page=6
Now is there something similar for the S4? I think I tried calling ##72786# on stock ROM and it didn't work...

Do you have mobile data?
Also I asume that you're running the latest vertigo's build, because with me GSM/WCDMA/LTE is always selected.

Your digging around has misled you. The GT-I9505 has 2100MHz support for 3g, as noted here, here, and here. It also has 2100MHz support for LTE. So something else is causing your issue. Are you certain your phone isn't in fact getting an LTE signal instead of 3G?

Based upon the information you've provided, you're on the Baltic Black Edition firmware (CSC SEB). The firmware here though doesn't appear to be the problem. The problem is that you need to clear up some confusion here. You're saying you can't get LTE, are using unbranded firmware, yet your phone is locked to a carrier.
In an attempt to clear up things, please provide us with the missing information below, and confirm any already provided information is correct.

thanks but as i said before, i've tried many stock firmware, including that... that was te first one because i also thought that was something related to simlock
i will send the phone to warranty, or try at least
@Joku1981: If I didn't have to work today I would have told him the same thing.
@monteiro-ribas: If you intend on having the phone swapped out, you might want to flash the correct firmware that Joku1981 provided the link to before sending the phone in. I do hope you let us know if you get your issue resolved and whether it actually was the phone or, alternatively, the service.

My original post in modems:
Ok guys, my kingdom for a solution, please !!!
Here's the deal, I have a samsung galaxy S4 GT-I9505 bought in hong kong, worked flawlessly for over a year on Telcel Mexico network, took a trip overseas to France bought a sim put it in the phone, worked great !!!!, came home put in my original sim and since then my S4 has been unable to maintain a stable 3g connection, usually connects for a under a minute and reverts back to edge. I've tried many different things recommended on this and other forums:
1.- removing/replacing sim card
2.- removing/replacing battery for over 4 hrs
3.- tried different sim cards from different carriers with same result
4.- wipe and clean install with different firmwares
5.- installed cyanogenmod latest
6.- under network modes, tried selecting every combination of lte, 3g, 2g, automatic network registration and selecting my preferred network.
7.- tried flashing over 30 different modems
8.- flashed latest firmware from sammobile specific to my phone (I9505ZHUFNL1_I9505ZZHFNL1_TGY)
9.- took it to a "technician" and he managed to return my phone in the exact same condition with the exception that now the wifi didnt work (i managed to fix this on my own)
10.- installed advanced signal status from play store which gave acces to other goodies such as selecting radio band between automatic, europe and usa, tried everyone of them with no solution.
Tried to be as thorough as possible, hope someone out there has a solution. I thank you all for your time and experience. Happy Holidays !!!!! I hope I am posting in the correct area, i searched and found this is the place where my problem seems to be discussed
P.D. Since im flashing GPE right now the screenshots no longer reflect what im on but I do have a nandroid back up of this rom and I am about to restore it.
Hope I was thorough, thanks for any help

So in my country all service providers work with 3g at 2100 frequency, why does my s4 doesn't connect to 3g?
Well... sadly after digging around i found out that the phone doesn't support 2100 frequency.
It's the official firmware for this country, was bought in this country but only gets 2g and 4g
any way to solve this mess? most of the data signal comes from 3g signal, if i'm inside of a building i only have gsm data :crying:
SOLUTION:
THIS IS FOR ALL WITH NO CONNECTION OR CONNECTION ISSUES, DUE TO UNLOCK OR NOT
before you begin, if your phone is not factory unlocked, you will lose your aftermarket unlock
donwload the rar file
extract content, install all
on the phone:
Type *#9090# Select option 2 (DM/DUN over HSIC)
and
Type *#7284# it will open a new menu or If *#7284# does nothing type
*#0808#
. In this new menu:
- Set USB to AP
- Set USB settings to DM+Modem+ADB
login to server for free... user : test pass: 123unlock
click advanced, read nvm to do backup, now select write, search for i9505 repair file, and proceed
after 3 min phone will reboot, you will not have network connection!
INSTALL your firmware from sammobile, let it finish... let the phone power on, and when reboot is complete, power off, enter recovery mode and format your phone to factory specs (down volume+home button+power on)
your done, enjoy!

Downloaded SRS tool from another link which finally gave me access to Samsung Remote Unlock Client, followed the steps in the guide, used the file provided in this guide and everything seems to be working for now, gonna test for a couple of days and will update.
I have attached the files I successfully used. Great many thanks to the OP and to the 123unlock team, had this problem for over a month and fingers crossed this appears to have solved it. THANKS
it worked
Thank you all. This solved the no 3g problem on my i9505

Hello, i need the steps to. the link is broken.

Somewhere over the years I apparently lost the carrier directory in /efs, as well as the CSC data - is there any way of getting this back? I'm hoping it's at least possible by flashing back to stock but only as a last resort - I've tried a bunch of different things without success so far.
The phone started as a Rogers N900W8 and was immediately unlocked and rooted. Sometime soon thereafter a Bell 4.3 firmware was flashed (via Heimdall). I then switched from Rogers to Wind (now Freedom) - I believe this is where the hidden menu disappeared if I remember correctly - and the phone functioned just fine through all of this.
I then moved from that Bell BMC 4.3 to the Wind GLW PG1 5.0 firmware (grabbed from sammobile and flashed via Odin) thinking that the presence of the Wind SIM would trigger the firmware to switch from BMC to GLW but it doesn't seem to have worked out like that. I'm now running the LineageOS nightlies and the phone works just fine except for a lack of LTE which is what I'd like to sort out with the secret codes. Also, since switching to Wind I believe my mobile network has always been displayed as HOME.
Samsung Phone Info doesn't list any CSCs except BMC under original. In the firmware tab, it's not listing PDA or CSC version. There is no carrier directory in /efs nor are there any CSC files in the file system. Entering almost any secret code fails "Connection problem or invalid MMI code" - *#06# will display IMEI but all others I've tried don't work.
UPDATE #1:
Have been able to get the Canadian CSCs onto the device and recognizable as being present by Phone Info.
Ripped out cache.img.ext4 from the PG1 firmware and used Cache Ripper (found on XDA somewhere) via Wine on linux to create a TWRP flashable zip. Had to mount system in TWRP before flashing.
Changing CSC with Phone Info apparently does a Factory Reset and not quite ready to do that yet as more research seems to point to reverting to stock for the hidden menu.
UPDATE #2:
Flashed stock PG1 via Odin. Went into a bootloop after building Dalvik on first boot and had to reboot into the stock recovery and wipe data and system, then it booted fine. The back button stopped working (LOL Samsung) and I had to flash a random 5.0 custom kernel (idlekernel) to get it back. Flashed TWRP and SuperSU.
There is now an empty carrier directory in root but there still isn't one in /efs. Lots of information on XDA pointing to this being a prerequisite for the secret codes - turns out it's all bunk.
Secret codes work. Had some difficulties with Phone Info not letting me into the root menus to change CSC - was spitting out output from some failed scripts - and when I was just about to give up it started working. Changed CSC to GLW which prompted another factory reset, and now it shows GLW / BMC as the active CSCs. APNs were Bell's originally, which is not what I wanted, but after following the *#272*IMEI directions from this thread and another factory reset they are now Wind's. No LTE yet. Would like to get rid of the BMC CSCs altogether since this was never a Bell device.
Some more stuff changed in Phone Info: Product Name is now hltevl, Firmware's CSC Code is now BMC and CSC Country is Canada/CA. PDA and CSC version has also been populated. CSC Changer still defaults to having BMC selected and I'm still getting the Bell bloatware.
UPDATE #3:
Active CSC reverted to BMC after a couple reboots...they're all BMC now.
Attaching (the initial) Samsung Phone Info screenshots (don't see how to edit them into OP via mobile app) .
I recommend to flash a stock firmware instead of this custom rom.

Thanks for stopping by.
I flashed the stock PG1 firmware for the GLW CSC. But the device still thinks it's BMC - this probably has something to do with all the Canadian devices sharing identical hardware and firmware.
Then I used your tool to change the CSC to GLW. All of the CSCs remained BMC except for Active CSC which was BMC/GLW. After a couple reboots even that was gone and Active CSC reverted to BMC.
Do I maybe need the stock recovery for the CSC changes to stick ? I flashed TWRP 3.1.1 for root.

So your problem is to get LTE back, or get rid of BMC?

I'd like to do both if possible but I'm not going to sweat over the CSC if it's purely cosmetic - mainly concerned about the LTE.
I wouldn't be surprised if they are linked however since the carriers here operate LTE on different bands to the best of my knowledge.
So firstly try to install the stock BMC firmware to see if the LTE works?
Long story short, LTE isn't yet available in this location on this carrier on a Note3-supported band yet.
So that's that.
FIXED?? - Getting back to AT&T stock from S8 Factory Binary (failed carrier change)
==== Latest update (I am not an expert but please check out (at your own risk) ============================
All - I installed latest Tmobile firmware for SM-G950U downloaded from sammobile (G950USQU5CRK1) using odin3v3.13.1.
To my pleasant surprise I find that Wifi Calling etc works fine. You need to have TMobile SIM in the phone when you flash the firmware. I believe S8 automatically customizes firmware based on sim detected (I tried AT&T/TMO sims and it did).
It is likely that all the carrier change guides are no longer relevant (at least as of V5 bootloader) I am not an expert but please check out (at your own risk)
========== OLD Thread =======================
Will appreciate help.
Here is what I did or wanted to do: I switched carriers from AT&T to TMobile and tried to install TMobile stock using these instructions
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/snap-guide-flashing-standard-fw-carrier-t3625817
I have a V5 bootloader so I used Factory Binary from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...bination-files-bit-5-g950uu1-g955uu1-t3816112
Current State: I am on factory binary, but the instructions to change carrier files (32-33 in carrier switching) don't seem to work for V5.
I would like to get back to AT&T stock - but cannot figure out how to. I cannot find AT&T stock firmware with V5 bootloader anywhere. ANy help / guidance is appreciated

I have come to believe this as well. I was flashing the unlocked firmware on mine and if I kept my Xfinity wim in it it no matter what, would default back to my cct csc. So I tested and inserted other Sims flashed a CSC and auto configuration took over on boot and would reflash itself with the apropriate carrier CSC and sales codes...The auto configuration seems to handle most carrier changes. There is also a hidden menu where you can select a csc. And again. If I selected one if I had my sim in it would disregard and keep sims csc. If I removed it would take til I inserted my carriers sim.
Also at the bottom of this hidden menu you can select to disable auto configuration....
Don't know if this helps your hunting's and findings but it was observations I made
