How to reduce Microphone sensitivity? - G1 General

Hi
Recently poeple that I speak to on the hp have been complaining that the mic for my HTC dream hp is too sensitive such that noise around me is amplified. Does anyone here know of why or how to resolve this issue?
Possible reasons could be
1. I flashed a latest radio half a year ago.
2. I am using Audio Hack to make my speaker volume audible.
3. I don't think it is due to the ROM, but I am using CM 5 and CM 6.0's nightly recently.
tks

What radio..?

duct tape?

Thanks for the replies.
When I referred to "radio", I meant the 2.50SC.20.17H_2.22.23.02 baseband radio. It was release about half a year ago and was supposed to improved cellular signal strength.
Also, I am using Meltus Audio Hack - settings v6r2.
I am not thinking of using duct tape yet.. Haha
I think the mic sensitivity only increased recently. Are there any hacks to reduce the mic sensitivity, or does anyone face the same issue? Anyway, my handphone specs are as follows.
Hardware - HTC DREAM
2850mAh extended battery
Baseband version: 62.50SC.20.17H_2.22.23.02
Kernel version: 2.6.34-cyanogenmod [email protected] #6
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-6-07092010-NIGHTLY-DS
Build Number: FRF83
Recovery: Clockwork Recovery (Rom Manager)

[Q] Boost speaker sound?

Running regular windows os I find that the speaker when playing music or call is significantly greater. While running android 2.2 darkstone build I find the speaker to be a bit.. pathetic? Are there any builds that fix this problem? or a potential fix? Also I want to know which build your using. Im a noob when it comes to android phones. Recently got into modding androids. So any help is appreciated.
use hastarins kernel (if youre on a ppp build) the volume is significantly increased in it

My #1 concern with Android builds at the moment: Volume.

I know at first many complained of speaker volume being too low. So developers did something. What exactly was done?
I have noticed 3 things with all builds I have tried:
1. When making/recieving calls the initial volume is random, either too soft or too loud. The volume indicator (one that comes up when volume buttons are pushed) never seem to relate to the actual volume level. Often the volume indicator is all the way down while the volume is all the way up. And in order to turn it down I have to adjust the volume indicator all the way up and then move it back down which works. Weird.
2. In-call audio sounds bad compared to WinMo. It sounds harsh, like its very slightly distorted. Its as if there are audio/eq settings in Android that don't match the hardware.
3. Finally, why this is my biggest concern, I blew out my outside speaker when on speaker phone in Android (there was a little pop sound in the middle of a call, I could not hear rings or anything after that, in WinMo as well). I am starting to see others report this. Luckily I got it replaced. But I am now scared to do speaker phone in Android. I have used speaker phone with WinMo plenty with no issues.
I used to have inconsistent sound issues in some builds, I used Louder Volume Hack from the market to modify the volume for headset, bluetooth and in call boost (Range) and it works pretty fine. As for the external speaker, I can't really say... I haven'T noticed.
I have this problem too! My speaker phone blew up while I was using Mdeejay eVo Sense v. 2.3 rEVOlution. I'm pretty sad because I can't even get notifications anymore or rings. I have to leave my phone on vibrate. Speaker doesn't even work on winmo either. I tried task 29, new winmo rom, new android rom and tried to factory reset and nothing work. I'm pretty sure my speaker is done.
Froystone 2.3 on 7.6 the sound volume was great. No problems however going to evolution 2.3 I notice I struggle to hear on some calls.
i get great sound in skinnyevo by phireMOD. havent tried speakerphone though, doubt ever will after reading this thread.
I haven't had any issues with my speaker.

My number 1 concern too.
I use the HD2 for navigation and playing around. I have a e71 for phonecalls.
The speakervolume with the latest kernels is an absolute dissaster for me.
I don't see any developers reacting on this issue reported by several people which frightens me a bit.
I dont mean to curb people from using their speaker phone. I am just one experience. But I wanted to see if anyone else had the the same problem. Particularly the not-so-great sounds issue in general.
What build was running when You had speaker failure ?
Try the [UPD][BUILD][01.11.10]|<<Mdeejay FroYo Sense Series>>|2.29.405.2\
Next Sense 2.7
Very loud. I had the same problem but this one is 1/2 volume just to be tolerable.

Ok, not one I tried but I hope this turns out to be bad luck and not a general problem !
You say others have had a similar problem ?
from a electronics point of view an impedance miss match speaker/amp would generally damage the amp before the speaker, speakers normally let You know if You are "over driving" them a good while before they burn out
I highly doubt the speaker loss is a general problem. But the less-than-stellar sound seems to be a general problem, and I am wondering if they could be related.
If I had the time I would dig into the builds myself to see how the sound settings are handled n such.
I just put XAndroid 2.2 (Froyo) on my Tilt2 and got it working - I always use the speaker phone when making calls... was very exited to see that it works - until I realized that when the speaker is on in a call - I can hear them - but they cannot hear me. If I turn off the speaker - we can talk again - but for some reason - speaker for me is mute for them... not sure where to post this as a possible bug.
I used this package: XDANDROID.2.2.1.AOSP.FRX03.21.11.10.FULL_PACKAGE
on an AT&T Tilt2 (Rhodium) running Windows mobile, I believe 6.5.
thanks for your patience - this is a big place - and it hard to find my way around.
updated my zimage and the speaker now works
thank you to everyone!

ICS FM radio sound behaviour

The Aurora ICS project enabled Fm Radio for our phone and this is a great gift.
So, I want to thank Dzo for porting this rom for U8800.
Using Fm Radio, there was something that always annoyed me, but I don't know if it's a software issue that could be resolved or a hardware bug.
Today I made some observations I'd like to discuss.
This is about the sound quality of the radio.
Something happens for about 2 seconds every 17 seconds that changes the sound.
1. Using the headphones it's not easily noticeable (it's easier to do it in a mono station or using the mono Audio Output Mode) and I can describe it as a slight change of the sound balance to the right.
2. Using the phone's speaker output is quite different. I perceive it as a change in the tone of the higher frequencies and that makes it very noticeable/disturbing.
Already tried the different options in the FM app but they didn't change anything.
Can you experience this also or is it only me?
Is there a loop with about these timings in the FM app that creates this as a result or this is a hardware bug that we should ignore?
Thanks.
+ 1 here, I have noticed it too

[Q] sound not working

My sound just recently stopped working randomly.
Can anyone help me with this problem?
1. Multiple ROM changes
2. Checked volumes
3. Plugged in headphones (this actually produces sound)
No headphones icon
Current rom: Flexreaper

Could be hardware problem.
Does volume control work with rocker switch?
You could pop the back off and check speaker connections, wires etc.
Use a magnifying glass to check. Especially contacts around headphone jack.
Maybe a little careful poking around with a pencil eraser while the tablet is playing sound.
Good Luck with your problem
Sounds like a hardware issue.
You could try rolling back to HC3 via TD's V.4
But probably a hardware issue.

Im having the same issue coming up from hc3 to the new ics slim on A500. sound was out before upgrade just went all of a sudden, has yet to return but head phone jack works fine. tried every thing too, want to isolate the chunk of programing that controls audio and flash random potential fixs in.
Sound pop/crack
I have installed pjsports version of Android 4.3 [CM10.2 Unofficial] Build 6 on my a500 tablet.
The sound works great until i put the tablet in sleep mode. After waking up the tablet the sound system is broken. The sound is coming out but every second I ear loud pop/cracking noise and the video (or application) slows down to a crawl.
Does anyone experience similar problems ?
I believe I have read that this happens when too many apps running in the background

S4 Microphone bad input. low volume

I have a s4 i9505 which is not able to record sound from the bottom mic. if i blow into the hole i hear the scratching noise but if i talk normal like in phonecalls nobody hears me. or it is super low so nobody understands me and the quality is super bad. Have the issue with stock and cm13.
i replaces the flexcable with the mic on it and the sd-card and simcard part.
hope any body has a fix for me. btw no garanty any more.
about device:
Android version: 5.0.1
Basebandversion: I9505XXUHOJ2
Kernel: 3.4.0-5978264 [email protected] #1 Thu Oct 8 19:29:47 KST 20015
Buildnumber: LRX22C.I9505XXUHOJ2
KNOX: 2.3
Did you try cleaning the microphone hole?
yes i did even replace the middle case frame of my galaxy.
So you replaced the microphone, you replaced the midframe, you replaced the SIM card slot and tried different ROMs, yet it still doesn't work.
Your options are running low and I don't really see anything else other than replacing the whole motherboard, but then you might as well send it to a service.
so i finaly got it some kind of working.
i installed cm 10.2 now and here i have sound from my microphone but it still very low.
is there a way to boost it in system? like in /etc.
i read a bit about it but did not found something for s4
