I have a s4 i9505 which is not able to record sound from the bottom mic. if i blow into the hole i hear the scratching noise but if i talk normal like in phonecalls nobody hears me. or it is super low so nobody understands me and the quality is super bad. Have the issue with stock and cm13.
i replaces the flexcable with the mic on it and the sd-card and simcard part.
hope any body has a fix for me. btw no garanty any more.

Did you try cleaning the microphone hole?
yes i did even replace the middle case frame of my galaxy.
So you replaced the microphone, you replaced the midframe, you replaced the SIM card slot and tried different ROMs, yet it still doesn't work.
Your options are running low and I don't really see anything else other than replacing the whole motherboard, but then you might as well send it to a service.
so i finaly got it some kind of working.
i installed cm 10.2 now and here i have sound from my microphone but it still very low.
is there a way to boost it in system? like in /etc.
i read a bit about it but did not found something for s4

Hi
Recently poeple that I speak to on the hp have been complaining that the mic for my HTC dream hp is too sensitive such that noise around me is amplified. Does anyone here know of why or how to resolve this issue?
Possible reasons could be
1. I flashed a latest radio half a year ago.
2. I am using Audio Hack to make my speaker volume audible.
3. I don't think it is due to the ROM, but I am using CM 5 and CM 6.0's nightly recently.
tks
What radio..?
duct tape?
Thanks for the replies.
When I referred to "radio", I meant the 2.50SC.20.17H_2.22.23.02 baseband radio. It was release about half a year ago and was supposed to improved cellular signal strength.
Also, I am using Meltus Audio Hack - settings v6r2.
I am not thinking of using duct tape yet.. Haha
I think the mic sensitivity only increased recently. Are there any hacks to reduce the mic sensitivity, or does anyone face the same issue? Anyway, my handphone specs are as follows.
Hardware - HTC DREAM
2850mAh extended battery
Baseband version: 62.50SC.20.17H_2.22.23.02
Kernel version: 2.6.34-cyanogenmod [email protected] #6
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-6-07092010-NIGHTLY-DS
Build Number: FRF83
Recovery: Clockwork Recovery (Rom Manager)
Hi all,
I just got a Nexus 4 recently and I've been racking my brain with what on earth is happening with the microphone.
The problem is that the microphone WORKS PERFECTLY when doing a google search, voice call in normal mode, or voice recording. It does not work at all if I enable the speakerphone during a voice call. This seems to be exactly the opposite problem that others are having with the Nexus 4. I can still hear the person in the call but when I talk, they can't hear me. Not even white noise, just total and utter silence.
I have tried 2 flex cables (trying replaced the initial one whose microphone didn't work at all, at the time I had CM11) and tried flashing everything (baseband, recovery, system) to stock 4.2.2, tested it with no luck. I then flashed everything with the latest version 4.4 off google's developer section and tested with the same issues. I've tried factory resets, unplugging the headphones, and also soundabout and nothing resolves the issue.
When I look at the flex cable and the phone housing, it seems to me that there is only one microphone on the bottom. On the top, there is the noise canceling mic, but I don't think this has anything to do with the speakerphone. Am I wrong? Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? I don't know whether this is a hardware problem or some low level software issue.
UPDATE:
I noticed something super strange. If I plug a headphones w/ a mic into the headphone jack, I can actually hear very loudly and in great detail the friction from my fingers moving up and down anywhere the case of the phone, and if I tap on the body of the phone (anywhere, even near the USB port on the bottom) it's like stuffing paper into your ear canals. I can still hear the person on the other end fine, and they can also hear just as clear and loud when I touch the phone body. This phone is a science experiment now. The closer I move my fingers to the bottom of the phone near the mic, the louder it gets.
've tried everything. You also changed the Kernel, I do not know ... Maybe it's a problem RADIO, but I doubt it.
Eventually contact Google support
Typical factory problem....when i bought my Nexus 4 (S/N shows production date is October 2013 so its the newer batch with little nipples and camera lens offset fix) the microphone was dead and i could've only talk through headphones and speakerphone....took it to the repair shop and everything works now. Don't know what they replaced, maybe it wasnt the microphone.
Hello everyone.
I'm having some problems with my LG G2. My in-call microphone doesn't seem to work at all when I'm calling someone, unless I blow straight in it. I tried testing it with some app I found on Google Play (Test Your Android) and it turns out that the microphone level is okay, but it's very noisy, so it looks like some noise filters filter out the signal as well. I tried replacing the entire ribbon on which the mic is placed (had some different problems regarding it), but it did not help. I tried changing the radio (I even found one dedicated ecpecially to my region and service provider), but it didn't help either. I tried it on stock 30d and on LineageOS 14.1. Any ideas, anyone?
Looks like it was the faulty microphone on the new ribbon cable. I tried on another and it was OK. Gonna ask for replacement where I bought it.

I recently had to replace my screen/digitizer/frame assembly due to me ripping the flex cable a bit underneath battery when trying to replace the battery. I took the assembly to the shop where I live to get repaired. A bit of a problem has cropped up. I can hear from the ear piece speaker during calls but when I play music or you tube, etc., sound only comes from the bottom speaker. I have scanned and searched this problem but have yet to come up with anything. Have been thinking of dirty flashing my rom( just installed pure nexus about two weeks ago) to see if maybe the kernel i have installed could be causing the problem. Since I have that rom installed on other devices and have no problems, I doubt that is the problem. Was wondering if somebody out there has experienced this same problem. I was thinking the speaker is not connecting properly inside the phone, but then I doubt I could hear through the speaker on phone calls. Has me a bit baffled. Any input on this problem would be appreciated. Nexus 6p w/ pure nexus 7-25-17 installed along with elemental x kernel 4.14.
That sucks bro I almost did the same thing. Luckily was just the covering that got scraped off all wires intact. If dirty flashing doesn't work try a stock based ROM.
If the dirty flash will not work, I'll try a clean flash(ugh)then try the stock image. Thanks.
I found my problem. I had a kernel app that was causing the problem. Switched to a different kernel app and the ear speaker is now working in all modes.
Hello everyone. I've encountered problem with my lower microphone in my Galaxy A5 - it just stopped working somehow, maybe it got some water inside it. I tried to clean it with needle, etc. but nothing works. So there is my question: is there any way to use my second (upper) microphone in dial calls? Using headset is a bit problematic for me. I guess it's necessary to use some application or change some values in system files, but I'm total newbie in terms of Android so aI will be grateful for any advice. Thanks in advance, have a good day!
If there's root, create a backup and experiment with /system/etc/mixer_paths.xml. There are a lot of dual speaker modifications...
I had this (or a similar) problem on a Samsung SM-A510FD, the microphone was 'muffled' and would only 'hear' the bass of lightly knocking on the phone. Of course, this could damage the microphone, or other components, but turning both microphones towards gravity, inserting the sim pin (the bundled sim pin looks like this " - "), turning (low pressure)... left something on the sim pin. Then it worked again (with headphoneless calls). Then it stopped working. Then it fixed it again. Then it stopped. Then it appears to not have fixed it, but worked later, maybe with a headphone mic? And maybe not as loud as before?
