Your best bet would be to make a shortcut to the folders they are in and then copy the shortcut to the start menu and then assign an icon to them.
HMMM?
How would i make an icon to that folder though thats the main answer i want
P.S. thats exactly what i did and thats what i really want to do make an icon for that folder shortcut to work on the start menu

Ok find an icon you want either on the internet or the forums and then you need to make the reg setting for it. Something like this,
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\"you link name here".lnk]
"Icon"="\\Windows\\Start_Icon_FileExp.png"
then drop your icon in the windows folder and then reboot and the icon should take
OK

Or you could use something like JWMD Icon Changer, no reg editing and lets you save and load themes of Icons .....
Sigh...
Well i used JWMD Icon Changer to change the shortcut in my start menu and well it worked but it says "the file _____ cannot be opened. either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. if the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file." in other words it cant opened even if the icon is there...i probably need a .exe to open the folder i made to an icon like the transformers app...sigh it would be easier if u guys made one for me, an app icon that i can put my videos & movies in that app anytime i want, just like the transformers movie app
It would be much appreciated if someone did this for tnx

Try creating your shortcut to the folder like this
Assume you know some of this but gonna cover the whole thing ..
create a text document on your pc, change movies to wherever you want, ...
35#"fexplore.exe" \Storage Card\Movies
the number before the # is the number of characters after the #
create the file in notepad, move it to the device /windows/start menu/programs and rename it .lnk
This will launch file explorer to the folder of your choice ...
Then change the icon to whatever you want ...
And of course since it is a .lnk in your start menu , it will show up so you can add quicklinks ...

I attached the link ... just unzip it, and put it in /windows/Start menu/programs
in device memory
be sure to create a folder on your Storage card called movies ..
When connecting to activesync and browsing to the \Windows directory in main phone memory, sometimes it can take a while for the folder to show the files, so when it opens just goto \windows\start menu\programs and copy the lnk in the zip to there ...
Hope it works ....

not many responses to this thread, so i don't know if anyone cares
but here is the solution, not too hard
1. on your phone fire up your favorite Registry Editor
2. go to HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAlbum\Ignored
a. if Ignored key doesn't exist create it
3. create a new String Value and name it anything you like
example: igo
4. set the Data for the new value to the full path of the folder to be ignored
example: \Storage Card\iGO8
note: all sub-folders will be ignored as well
5. restart your phone
note: the folder and it's sub-folders will not show up in Album
now that i can carry thousands of my photos with me
i realize that HTC Album gets crowded with sub-folders/albums
most are sub-folders with my photos and i guess i have to live with that
but also some system and miscellaneous folders show up
simply put a lot of finger scrolling
is there a way to hide / ignore certain sub-folders from HTC Album?
bumping
because i'd like to know if this is possible
i figured if windows and program files are hidden from the list,
there has to be a way to hide other unwanted folders
I don't think there is a way on the HD without something like resco explorer but, on your PC change the folder or file attribute to hidden before transferring to your HD.
bumping the solution
Thanks, this is great tip
tagging this so I can find it after each reflash
If you just want to keep photos out of TF3D album (so it will still appear in albums if ytou launch HTC Album but not in the TF3D tab) and it's easier: http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=1789
yopu just pick a folder as your favorite.

Hi, great tip by the way. Managed to hide the images coming from gAlarm. Is it possible to have the same thing for Music? I dont want those sound files from a third party app to be included in the ALL music tab, my quick fix is to use a playlist Thanks.
Excellent tip mate, surprised you haven't had many other responses!!
You are the Man!!!
I have been looking for away to do this for ages.
Ahh cool. Can this be made into some kind of batch file, so when you flash it can be added right back in?
Actually, is there a way to ignore everything and add the folders you want to include?

after you populate it the way you like export the Registry KEY
import after flash,
or
convert to XML or CAB and install
these topics are covered better elsewhere in this forum,
search for "UC or user customization" or SASHIMI

I am interested in that also. I have my phone record my calls as .mp3, and they show up as music in music player!

Hi,
Got rather a big problem. I installed Resto Explorer and was using it quite happily until the trial period lapsed. I did purchase the program as I liked it but got the wrong license generated and still waiting to hear from their support on getting it fixed. In the mean time I was unable to edit or do anything of substance.
So in my wisdom I decided to remove it for now. Big mistake! I am now unable to explore my phone as I cannot find the default explorer. I think I may have removed that from the start menu. OCD cleanliness you understand!!
So I cannot explore at all and thus cannot install anything to replace it.
Anyone know how I might recover from this one?
Cheers.
try installing total commander
Ok panic over. I used pcsync to copy a shortcut of fexplore.exe to start menu. Phew!
What someone mind posting the registy location and values of the default file explorer please so I can fully recover as it was and this time keep it there!!
Thanks.

Not quite sure what you expect to be stored in the registry for the file explorer. I've had a brief look and can't see anything in there. Just using it will set up any data storage that it uses. AFAIK it only needs to remember the last location it was in - nothing more.
Well at the mo all I have in the start menu now is "Shortcut to fexplore.exe". I woudl like to clean that up as far as possible to be what it it supposed to be.

Open file explorer and go to windows\start menu\programs and find the shortcut. Just rename it in there.
Incidentally, if you select an application, anywhere on your phone and do "Copy", you can then go to the above mentioned programs folder and do "Paste Shortuct". Just in case you lose any more shortcuts
I've searched and searched and searched. But yet to find anything working well.
I'm trying to find a customizable soundboard app. There's so many sounds ide use (Dave Chappelles Rick James, Mr T, Anchorman... I could seriously go on forever)
If there's nothing out there you guys and gals could suggest for me, is there any devs out there that could point me in the right direction on how to write this app.
Cheers peeps
use this program http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-wdaft-for-wqvga-vga-qvga-and-square-mobile.html as a base. in the explorer, you can switch the sounds and graphics to what you like. p.s. this program friggin rocks!
Dude, your gonna get busted posting warez here.
Dude, your cant post warez here. read the rules
how is it a ware? it says its beta and its listed as freeware on that site.
Sorry dude. Didn't actually read it. saw the site 'ppcwarez' and though it was
my bad
Nice lil app. but how would one change the sound s and such?
its all good. i installed to my sd. i go to my device/sd card/program files/godaft. in the two folders are the images and sounds. you can make your own images or go to iconspedia.com and grab some free icons and replace them with the originals. then you can grab the sound files you want to use and replace them with the ones in there. i dont know what format it is either .wav or .mp3, but you can grab an mp3 converter freeware app from somewhere to change it. the only thing you gotta do is make sure you rename the file you put in with the one you take out.
Sweet,
Ive managed to change the header and sounds to dave chappelle's rick james.
There's only one problem. The buttons still read 'harder, better, faster, stronger'
I cant find anything related to these in the skin folder.
Any ideas?
ok i just checked and there is no button associated with the words. my advice is to just reverse-engineer the app until you find the text written into it. try using a .cab decompiler/extractor or visual studio. if you dont know how to do this then maybe look around on here for people who deconstruct files. i would look and try to write you a new board but i dont have the time and resources right now. you might also wat to try to find another sound board like the fart app. not all of them have all images cooked into it.
Dude,... this is THE BEST app ever invented. Work has never been that easy,... I put "shut up", "go away", "bring me coffee" and "cu tomorrow" in the app and I never ever have to open my mouth again

I didn't actually edit the program itself. I just created the 4 sound files (*.wav) I wanted and named them L1.wav, L2.wav, L3.wav and L4.wav
Then I replaced the original sound files in the Godaft/Sounds folder with my own ones and now the first 4 buttons play my sounds. The buttons are still called "work it", "make it", etc., but they play my sounds. So if I would add more sounds, it might become hard to remember, which sound is on which button,... but the 4 I have are all I need and easy to remember

I used 7-zip to extract the cab file and got loads of files. Extensions are .001 all the way to .052 (I'm guessing these are the resouces) and an XML file (used to install)
I've looked through the XML in notepad and cant find anything there.
So its in the resource files somewhere. How do i open these files?
Ive checked out Visual Studio, but not sure which version I'm after as don't know which language this apps written in.
I'll grab the all-in-one package though

it sometimes sucks that you have to use multiple extractors to dig out one simple image. i still got an eye out for another soundboard for you that is much simpler to edit to your liking. there was also a guitar app i seen that was crazy simple to switch...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=482726. there is only 6 sound options and you have to skin the buttons the same as guitar strings.

The first one, with the drums has very good reaction. Like it! Didnt have the time to customize it yet...
I am willing to send both these MP4 files to anyone that is willing to help me out...I know that some of you members are looking for the movies and i honestly don't care enough to deny someone... so yea.. just send me a PM....
BUT!!!!!!
before i send you the movies.. someone has to tell me how to set up my transformers shortcut again....basically i removed the movies from my sd card.. and onto my computer (trying to save space) and then i realized that i'm not gonna need that much space.. so i put them back on my sd card... problem is.. the transformers shortcut on the homepage doesn't workj anymore... it gets me to the screen where i have to choose either Transformers 1 or Transformers 2.... and if i click either of them.. it says "media file not found" so yea.. i'm assuming that i have to do something in the registry that somehow links that shortcut to the movie files on my sd card.. so yea.. someone willing to help me out?? it seems like it wouldn't be that hard of a fix.. so yea.. please help
DO NOT SPAM MY INBOX FLOODING IT WITH PLEAS OFME SENDING YOU THE MOVIE FILES PLEASE... I WILL ONLY SEND THE FILES TO WHOEVER HELPS ME FIRST... AFTER MY OBJECTIVE IS COMPLETE I WILL GLADLY HELP ANYONE ELSE .. BUT MY NEEDS COMES FIRST... SO YEA.. SEND ME A PM WITH SOME SUGGESTIONS AND IF IT WORKS.. I'LL HELP YA OUT.. THANKS
Did you place the movies back in the same place as before? The shortcut just points to the files in X location and if they are not in that location it fails. You could probably just edit the exe to point to a different location.
feel like elaborating?? as in the process.. i'm no wizard when it comes to stuff like that...
Paste the shortcut in the windows/start menu/programs folder and you should be able to add it as a quicklink
k.. so i even tried installing the transformers cab... with the hopes that it might make it work after a soft reset.. nothing...i'm running out of juice guys.. any other suggestions someone wants to throw at me?? and i know i'm not the only person with a hd2 that removed the movies from sd card.. then tried to put them back on.. someone knows how to do this...please share
The movies originally went in Storage card > Transformers
The short cut in your start menu should have the following string;
25#"\Windows\Transformers.exe"
That exe file is the little home grown launcher program within which you select your movies.
I dont know if that launcher hunts for them or needs to know exactly where they are for it to run. I have not edited or looked at the exe itself.

SOLVED!!!
Just in case anyone else runs into this stupid issue and would like to resolve it...
But When i put the movies back onto my sd card, i created a new folder called movies... then i tried everything.. tried creating shortcuts, messing with directory etc... but nothing changed... it was getting quite frustrating...
but after reading 10332007's post, the folder that it was originally named on my sd card was not "movies" it was "Transformers" so basically right after i renamed that folder, soft reset.. Then "voila" the shortcut instantly starts working again... the answer was soo easy.. and right in front of my face.. i was just thinking that it was gonna be a little more complicated then renaming a folder... but yea.. so in case someone wanted to know that's too afraid to speak out... here ya go... cause i know i'm not the only hd2 user that needed it..

i'm usually the last person to tell someone to "search" because i'm not as "anal" about little things like that...
but yea.. next time just search.. especially for something like that.... i only say it this time because i created a topic about this issue not too long ago.. i'm talking minutes... lol
either way...
all those stupid sounds are coming from you "who wants to be a millionaire" game that comes on your phone.. what i did, was delete that useless game, and that instantly solves your problem.. plus you save some space on your phone/sd card.. .. BUT if for some reason you think you will find yourself playing that game in the near future and would just like to rid yourself of the sounds...
i simply used a registry editor.. I prefer "total commander" then you have to go to where those files are located in the editor.. (if you want the exact location... just go to the music player.. and click on one of those music files... then click properties.. and it will tell you on the bottom...)
then you can either do it to the folder containing all the music files.. or to each individual one.. or you can just select them all.. i don't care...
go to properties.. then proceed to make that a hidden file... click change now... then do a soft reset.. "voila" those files should now be hidden and will no longer show up on the music tab...
i did this to "waze" not that game.. so i'm not sure if this is going to work for you... but i imagine that it will.. the concept is the same...

like projectfuze said in both cases have a quick search but yes just make the game sounds hidden with TC and they wont appear in sense music
