HD2 AudioManager problem - HD2 General

Hi all,
I have always used Pocket Player (PP) as my music player in WinMo 6.1 (purchased). It is by FAR the best player doing practically everything. After upgrading my HD to HD2 I discovered that everytime I start PP, HTC AudioManager starts in the background ( as a process) taking the CPU to 95%. Even after I close PP, AudioManager process keeps the CPU at 80%-90% draining all the battery... and I always have to use a task manager to kill it manually...
AudioManager CANNOT be removed as it a ROM file and I have not figured out a way to block it from starting with PP. Can anyone help me, remove AudioManager, block it, get rid of it in any way possible??? (I even removed all AM registry keys but after starting PP the keys appeared back again!
Thanks.

AudioManager was probably set to launch upon boot by a program.
Are you running Co0kie's Home Tab 1.8.5 ?

Yes, I am using Co0kie's Home Tab 1.8.5. Is this manila mod (CHT) the cause? Should I remove CHT? I use my HD2 heavily as a walkman (over 1,500 songs on it) so I am desperate to have my Pocket Player working perfectly...).

Yes, CHT 1.8.x has 3 more "extra space" screens in addition to the Home screen which is at level 1. The AudioManager is running at level 0. Swipe the Home screen downwards and you should see the music player.
You don't have to remove the entire CHT to rectify this issue.
1) Click on "Menu" at the bottom right-hand corner of Today/Home screen.
2) Click on "Edit Home Layout" option.
3) Click on "Level 0 - Extra Space"..
4) Click on "Advanced" at the bottom right-hand corner
5) Uncheck/Disable the the option "Show music player" at the bottom of the list.
6) Click on "Done" to exit out all the way.
7) Soft-reset.
Cheers.

No luck... Removed Sense Music Player from CHT and restarted the HD2 without Sense too but on Spb Mobile Shell 3.5.5. Started Pocket Player (4.1 - latest release) and HTC AudioManager reappeared again as a process taking 94% of the CPU and taking the Snapdragon cpu to its knees...
It looks like if a media player is started, some form of system audio libraries/dlls are loaded and these are related to (or given by) HTC AudioManager. Once the AM process is killed everything is back to normal and the HD2 speed breezes..
So back to square zero....

This is for you experts in XDA land that I can really trust. Just let me know if any of you have similar experiences and if anyone can give me a fix to my list.
First of all.....
I'm Currently using newest Qtek Rom.
Installed to Main Device:
Batti
Wisbar Advance
Marsware Weather
Resco Explorer and REgistry
iLauncher
Voice Command
Pocket Informant
and everything else is on my Storage
my problems:
-No phone calls come through while on GPRS-goes straight to voicemail (Should I turn my AlwaysON tweak to always off?)
-Volume control changes to silent automatically
-After PIE cache and history set to Storage Card and cleaning up with SKTools, Internal Memory is left to 14.3mb only
-Ram left at Today screen is 13.9mb (What is taking so much process memory?) I have Agile Msgr stopped, Marsware weather is running, and that's it. This device's processor is soooooooooooooo slow!!
-sometimes tapping on start menu doesn't bring up cascading menu
-MMS does'nt send(even with settings from Cingular Rep)on this new Rom because Media Net is gone. Anyone know the settings or the reason?
----The sliding keyboard "loosens" and is not as tightly secure as it was at first. Also the backing where the camera lens is, I can feel is starting to loosen too.
--When pressing Messaging Hardware button, message function lags before appearing or sometimes doesn't appear at all. Tapping on Today screen Message plugin opens the mail/message app always and fast.
Anyone know how to redirect Cache and History of Opera browser?
Anyone have any ideas for fixes?
Anyone have a CAB file of all necessary Registry tweaks and a list of what are included in the file?
Maybe I can just start over....
or else....anyone want an 8125 for sale?

For details, as usual, please read the README.TXT file or the next post.
Besides, please read the README FIRST, especially the Known limitations & FAQs before posting your questions here.
Finally, if you like S2P, pls CLICK HERE to make a donation. Thanks.
Installation:
- Under your PC/MAC/device, extract the content of the downloaded file & copy the CAB file to your device.
- Under your device, run any File Explorer application; go to the folder where the CAB file is copied; run the CAB file.
- If your device got a "Win32 error", please download & install the WMP-OCX-WM5-square-fix.cab (for square devices) or the WMP-OCX-fix.cab (for other devices).
Operations:
- Since S2P simply scans music files in your storage card, it's suggested to have your music files well organized by folders. So that you can browse your music files through the folders instead of a plain list. (e.g. \Artist Name\Album Name\Music title.mp3)
- When browsing, press the folder name to list all music files under that folder, including subfolders; or press the arrow button to list the subfolders.
- Press any one of the filename to play.
- To go back to the music file list, press the top left back button.
- To view the current album list, press the top right icon. Then press any one on the list to play that music.
- To go back to the single music view, press the top right icon again.
- On the single music view, tap the screen to call up the timeline. Press the left repeat icon to repeat the current playing album; press the right shuffle icon to play the whole music list randomly. When both icons are on, only the current album will be played randomly.
- Under the music playback screen, slide up or down the left or right side edge of the album art will change to the Album View screen in Landscape mode. To go back to the normal playback screen, slide up or down the left or right side edge of the album art.
- Under the music playback screen, double tap the album title area will change to the Album View screen in Portrait mode. To go back to the normal playback screen, double tap the album title area again.
- The hardware keys are:
Accept - quit
End/OK - minimize
Vol Up/Down or DPAD Up/Down - volume control
DPAD Action - play/pause
DPAD Left/Right - previous/next
Left/Right soft key - previous/next album
Power/Record - turn screen off
Settings:
The behaviour of S2P can be altered by changing the following registry values stored at \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\A_C\S2P\
- OffLCD - the no. of timeout seconds that S2P will turn off the screen when using battery; default is 25.
- ACOffLCD - the no. of timeout seconds that S2P will turn off the screen when using external power; default is 0 (i.e. disable).
- SaveLastMusic - remember the last playing music when quit; default is 1.
- AlwaysLoadEmbedAlbumPic - always load the embedded album pic when start to play a file; default is 0.
- ResumeAfterCall - resume the playback after a call is finished; default is 1.
- FullScreenAlbum - to display a full-screen album art; default is 1. (it's not usable for square screen device).
- NoSoftKey - to hide the bottom soft music control keys; default is 0.
- FastAlbumPic - retrieve the embedded album pic in faster speed but some problematic pic will not be retrieved properly; if that happen, disable it; default is 1.
- AlbumLayout - 0, 1 & 2.
- ShakeAction - for Diamond/Pro/HD only; 0 to disable; 1 to go to next song; 2 to go to next shuffle song.
- ShakeThreshold - for Diamond/Pro/HD only; responseness to the ShakeAction; 0 easiest; 200 hardest; default is 100.
Known limitations & FAQs:
Q. Do I have to install the old version before using this version?
A. No.
Q. How to use the .CAB file?
A. http://www.google.com/search?q=install+cab
Q. Do I have to install S2U2 before installing S2P?
A. No. But if you have installed S2U2, make sure you have updated your S2U2 to 0.99p or later. Otherwise S2P will be stopped by S2U2.
Q. What music files can S2P play?
A. MP3, WMA & WAV.
Q. When viewing an album of WMA/WAV files, there is no duration show?!
A. Yes, it's not implemented yet.
Q. The Album View only show a few covers even there a lot different music files stored?!
A. You have to organize the files into folder structure like \Artist Name\Album Name\Music title.mp3, otherwise it won't be recognized by S2P.
Q. How to turn off the screen when playing music?
A. Press the Power button or the record button.
Q. How to adjust the auto screen off timeout?
A. Edit the registry - under \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\A_C\S2P\, edit the keys OffLCD & ACOffLCD (in seconds). OffLCD is for use when using battery; while ACOffLCD is for external power. The default value of OffLCD is 25 & ACOffLCD is 0.
Q. S2P shows weird characters for the music info?!
A. Try to resave those info in ID3V2.4 UTF-8 format.
Q. How to have cover shown on S2P?
A. Either the music file already has cover pic embedded or you have to copy the cover file (either cover.jpg or folder.jpg or album*.jpg made by WMP) to the corresponding album folder.
A. Sudermatt has a script to update the album art directly from your device, goto http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2164454&postcount=920 for details.
Q. Does S2P support A2DP?
A. Yes, as long as your device has a proper OS.
Q. Does S2P support AVRCP?
A. Yes, starting from v0.40.
Q. S2P does not support AVRCP on my device?
A. It's found that latest devices have some specific codes to handle AVRCP specifically with the built-in WMP. So there is no way to intercept the AVRCP control codes unless a real device can be studied on-hand or the related SDK is publicized.
Q. How to get AVRCP works on HTC Diamond?
A. Follow these steps:
- remove the Music tap from TouchFlo 3D with Diamond TF3D Config (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405749 (thanks Sushilange);
- restart the device;
- turn on the Bluetooth & connect the BT Headset;
- (skip this step for v0.55 or later) start the Windows Media Player (sometimes it will be automatically started once the BT Headset is connected) & press the End key to minimize it;
- start S2P & enjoy
Q. How to get the HTC Wired Remote Control works?
A. From v0.58, S2P supports this remote with limited conditions:
- either TouchFlo (Manila) 2D/3D, HTC Home or FM Radio must be turned off.
- connect the remote, run S2PCHR.exe.
- select MENU -> Calibrate...; press the PLAY button on the remote; message "Calibration done!" comes out; QUIT.
- remember to run this calibration once after each soft-reset.
- enjoy!
Q. Does S2P support playlist?
A. No, not yet.
Q. The system icons on the top bar do not update?!
A. Yes, they only show the start status. But the battery level icon is up-to-date. However, they will all be live if S2U2 v1.00 is already running in the background.
Q. How to make S2P runs faster?
A. Some tips:
- organize the mp3 files in folders
- keep the mp3 files small (<= 256kbps)
- don't use embedded album art
- keep album art small (<= 200 square pixels)
- let S2P goes through every album for creating some cached files for later better performance
- set AlwaysLoadEmbedAlbumPic to 0
- set FastAlbumPic to 1
- set FullScreenAlbum to 0
Q. How to control S2P from other program?
A. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2306639&postcount=1248
Q. Why S2U2, S2V & S2P are all free?
A. Because MS has left them in the factory.
Others
Q. Is S2P free?
A. Yes, but any donation is welcome (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webs...e=S2P Donations&no_shipping=0&no_note=1&tax=0), thanks.

woww thanks you very much A_C for this version
I will test it with impatience
reserved for another readme...
Sweet... I love this player... Thanks A_C...
A_C!
Thank you!!! I have been waiting for this tooo long!!!
God blesses you!!!
3q3q.
Thanks for your continued efforts. This is without doubt the player of choice for the TyTnII. I've donated and hope you keep up the good work
- the Album View now can flow. (since this view is very CPU intensive, it may be sluggish on your device)

One Question : How do we enable album art scrolling ? I know how to do the rotate and coverflow mode, but is there a new flow on the main screen ?
Edit. I posted this while you were posting the readme. Ooops. Dbl tap the title if you can't figure it out.
Thanks a lot for new release test it now
when i pressed power off button, will the music stop playing?
AWESOME!!!! I was very happy to see this thread. D/Ling now. Thanks so much.
Just tried it out and it works beautifully!!!
Very smooth!! Thanks again A_C

Thanks. It's the same old screen with easier navigation. Just try to slide the screen from left to right or right to left...

No.
I can see album art in the main interface.
However, Album View works both in Portrait & Landscape mode.
Have try SR after installation.
Any ideas????
Hmm... for some reason it's sluggish on my polaris...
as you said.
what to do.
I found that AlwaysLoadEmbedPic default value is actually 1 not 0.
Changing it back to 0 improved speeds a bit and solved some problems with covers not showing in normal view.
As expected album view is sluggish on my Hermes/8525, but it's still usable. If you want speed, just pause while you are using album view. And I also find that using portrait is faster than landscape. Just some suggestions.
Thank you soooo much for your hardwork...
This version is amazing the album view in both portrait and landscape is working FLOW-lessly...
Once again thanks...

Hi A_C, thanks for the update !!
I never care about album art before, but now I tried . However, they don't show up, I don't know why. In the registry, options for cover are all set to "1". These covers are .jpg with correct name (cover, album etc).
You said in the FAQ that they have to be created by WMP, is it a restriction, meaning that if you download a pic from internet, and use it as a cover.jpg, it can't work ?
EDIT: I realised that double tapping ont the name of the song/album bring up the cover in a full screen mode, it works . But is there a way to get the cover also in "nomral mode", where there is the "music note" by default?
Strike,
arrive at work and what will i see?
A new version of S2P, now this will become a great day.
Thanks man
2 seconds delay
I love the program, but took 2 seconds to skip to the next song.
It is a keeper though.
Thanks very much.
ps. Just checked with post #17..most of my mp3 are embedded with album art, therefore, that is why it is kinda slow.

[MORTSCRIPT] S2PC for iPhonetoday (Albumart yeha)

Hi,
Since iPhonetoday is such a great today plugin I decided to add some more functionallity.
What does it do?:
Basicly it starts S2P minimizes it then starts playback and replaces the top 6 (or 8) icons with control/status icons for S2P and reverts to your original icons once S2P exits .
Features:
- Replaces top 6 or 8 icons with S2P control/status icons
- Refreshes icons on track change
- Display current album or artist
- Display current title
- Display current albumart
- Play/Pause, Volume up, Volume down, Next, Previous, Maximise S2P (Mute, Exit only on 8 icon setting)
- Energy saving option for stopping the script once the phone gets locked by S2U2
- revert to your original icons once S2P exits
- crops Artist/Album/Title if it is to long to be displayed by iPhonetoday
- If no titles are loaded into S2P it will show a reminder and maximize S2P
- creates a backup.xml on first run
Requirements:
- Mortscript
- S2P
- iPhonetoday
Installation:
- extract S2PC.zip
- edit the s2pc.ini to your desired settings
- copy the extracted content into \iPhonetoday\
- in iPhonetoday add an icon linking to \iPhonetoday\S2PC\start.mscr
Changelog:
(I will follow iPhonetoday version numbering so my v. 0.6.1 will be compatible to iPhonetoday 0.6.1)
- 0.6.1
-Initial release
Known Bugs:
- Sometimes the icon refreshing is slow (no solution on my side, sorry has to be done in iPhonetoday -> Refreshing icons from external exe)
- When using S2U2 to control your volume and/or to answer calls(when not locked). The script will revert your icons to original and exit the script when receiving a call and/or changing volume with s2u2.
I will try to convince A_C to add a "Device is locked" Registry value. If not I don´t see a solution for this other than not using s2u2 for calls/volume.
Last but not least
I used some programms from different sources i would like to thank
No Plugins Today
Mortscript
thebond for his volume control scripts.
The s2pc.ini:
s2ppath=\Program Files\s2p\
Here you specify the folder where S2P is installed (mind the slashes).
s2pproblem=No music files are loaded into S2P. Please load music files and start playback.
Here you can edit the message that is displayed when no files are loaded into S2P.
s2pabort=Aborting S2PC
Here you can edit the message that is displayed when S2P aborts.
albumorartist=
Here you specify if album or artist shold be shown in the first row.
1 for album
0 for artist
pageselect=0
Here you specify on which page the controls sould be displayed (0 for the first page and so on) If the selected page doesn´t exist it will be displayed on the last page.
energysave=1
If this is set to 1 the script will revert your icons to original and exit the script when S2U2 locks the device.
!There is a bug in this function. When using S2U2 to control your volume and/or to answer calls(when not locked). The script will revert your icons to original and exit the script when receiving a call and/or changing volume with s2u2.
I will try to convince A_C to add a "Device is locked" Registry value. If not I don´t see a sollution for this other than not using s2u2 for calls/volume.
resumeafterunlock=1
If this is set to 1 and energysave is allso set to 1 the script will rerun on unlocking but only if the script already ran at locking
eighticons=0
If this is set to 1 8 Icons are displayed instead of 6
great work dude....!!!!

As you can see the icon updating process takes pretty long so updating every minute would render iPhonetoday nearly unusable.
Maybe when another refresh option is there I will try to make a digital clock for the first row.
ya it take a bit more time... but tuning it would do better
digital clock would be great help to all...

volume control via hardware left side control

hi, I've just purchased a HD2 and I'm new to WM.
After installing some tweaks, I discovered that when i tune the volume using the button on the side of the phone, instead of showing the original volume level in a black screen, now it shows a small window on the top right corner.
How can I get back the original black volume control screen ?
i'm on Manila ver 2.5.19211619 and ROM 1.66 with 6.5.2 OS.
thanks
SN
Have u installed any taskbar modification?
i installed the following :
- cookie's home tab
- flashlight
- CHTEditor
-.Net CF3.5
-bluetooth toggle
- close album with X
- disable accidental link
- lonngpress send key
- faster manila tweaks
- opera 6 tabs
-reset and wifi
- speed up screen scrolling
-start menu icons and BG transparent
will any of the above cos the change ?
Thanks
Its definetely not cookies home tab, flashlight and probably not Net cf3,5, your best bet is to uninstall app one by one and soft reset after each to find out which one could be the culprit.
Thanks.
it's the last one that removed the original volume control.
i now have a new 'problem' - i could not remove the icon completely. Tried removing and the msg is that there are icons that are not removed completely and asked whether i want to tremove them, i confirmed 'Yes' but that prog will still appear in the list of installed prog. Tried a few times and it is the same.
Now the silent/ringer mode icon is mission from the task bar.
Looks like I will for other icons or reinstall the task bar icons and make do with the 'not so nice' volume control.
Thanks again
Sktools is great in uninstalling things, u can try it.

music tab - landscape autoration off??

i found that autoration in my hd mini is off by default..
in the music tab i can get all the options if i can t use it in landscape!
after hours of research i found in the registry that the key "fullscreenmode" (or something like) is OFF by default.
trying to enabling this manually (by adding some other registry key for the g-sensor) causes problems: i don't know the audiomanager class name so i can't configure correctly
i got the latest ORIGINAL ROM.
What to do?
AND after that a question... is the manila music player usable with a big library?
In portrait mode, opening "catalogue" i found NO WAY to listen an entire album !!
thx
Hi there,
unfortunatelly the Sense (Manila?) Music-Player isn't very functional - I would say it's almost unusable because of the following restrictions:
- There is no search-function.
- You can't even fastscroll through tracks if you search for a special track because you can't drag the tiny slider which is on the right side. Even my old N97 mini let me fastscroll through my music-library (the N97 also showed the letters while dragging the fastscroll-slider). As I know - the HD 2 has this slider - but only in landscape-mode which isn't available on the HD Mini.
- After selecting and playing a track from the library (in which you have to manually select which can be a pain if the track begins with "Z" and you have over 2000 tracks - due to the lack of a fastscroll / search option) you have to manually select further tracks again because after returning from the Music-Player to the library - the library shows the first track in the alphabet and not the last played.
- Shuffle mode isn't saved - after turning off and turning on the phone you have to manually disable shuffle and enable it (the shuffle icon is there but shuffle isn't enabled) to get it working again.
- Sometimes (6-8 min after the screen went black) the player interrupts playback 3-5 sec and continues after this time. I think this has something to do with the energy-saving methods of the HD mini. This behaviour occurs only once after the screen has gone off - when you unlock the phone to select another track for example the behaviour re-occurs again after the screen has gone off.
Greetings
Timo
thx for the fast reply
i think the method of use of the cover flow is to browse and play an album or a track, or play shuffle the whole library.
So for me doesn't matter the search function...
but.. why i can't get it to work in landscape mode?!
