Is there any kind of OS utility or enhancement that allows one-handed use of device without using touchscreen, like it is on WM2005?
Vito ButtonMapper
I use ButtonMapper to achieve this sort of result.
For example:
I press the first key (Contacts I think, by default) to:
- go up one level in File Explorer
- go back one page in Internet Explorer
- load my default playlist in Media Player
- mute in the Phone app
- switch between different zoom levels in RepliGo
- launch Start menu from the Today screen
I use the top and bottom button (voice record and camera by default) to:
- scroll up and down in the Calendar and ToDo apps
- turn the display on and off in Media Player and default
- record and stop recording in Notes
- rotate the screen
And when that sort of solution fails me, I fall back on MS Voice Command!
Hey guys,
After the situation happened in the last thread, I'm so glad to tell you that the development is resumed. S2P now simply uses the device's built-in music decorder WMP.
What is S2P?
S2P(Slide2Play) is my third S2 series application. S2P is a stylus-free MP3/WMA player application. It simply lets you browse your music files & play.

- changed the layout a little so that the whole album art will be shown.
- smoother animation.
- a lot of minor bugs fixed.
Installation:
- Under your PC/MAC/device, extract the content of the downloaded file & copy the CAB file to your device.
- Under your device, run any File Explorer application; go to the folder where the CAB file is copied; run the CAB file.
Operations:
- Since S2P simply scans music files in your storage card, it's suggested to have your music files well organized by folders. So that you can browse your music files through the folders instead of a plain list. (e.g. \Artist Name\Album Name\Music title.mp3)
- When browsing, press the folder name to list all music files under that folder, including subfolders; or press the arrow button to list the subfolders.
- Press any one of the filename to play.
- To go back to the music file list, press the top left back button.
- To view the current album list, press the top right icon. Then press any one on the list to play that music.
- To go back to the single music view, press the top right icon again.
- On the single music view, tap the screen to call up the timeline. Press the left repeat icon to repeat the current playing album; press the right shuffle icon to play the whole music list randomly. When both icons are on, only the current album will be played randomly.
- Under the music playback screen, slide up or down the left or right side edge of the album art will change to the Album View screen in Landscape mode. To go back to the normal playback screen, slide up or down the left or right side edge of the album art.
- Under the music playback screen, double tap the album title area will change to the Album View screen in Portrait mode. To go back to the normal playback screen, double tap the album title area again.
- The hardware keys are:
ANSWER - quit
END/OK - minimize
Vol Up/Down or DPAD Up/Down - volume control
DPAD Action - play/pause
DPAD Left/Right - previous/next
Left/Right soft key - previous/next album
Power/Record - turn screen off

Many Thanks For Your Great Work!!
Strange....
This version doesn't open on my HTC P3600 (WM 6).
0.17 works well.
Any suggestion?
Obs: I'm using S2U 0.98.
All RIGHT! Thanks for everything you've done
EDIT: Yeah, sorry dude, but I've got the same thing happening... VZW700wx. It won't start. Just says S2P for the current open application on the taskbar
EDIT2: v.32 is working beautifully
Dont start!
Hey there!
Also does not start on my Himalaya.........
Tried soft resetting!
Thanks for your great software!
i`m squirt
A_C
A_C, you are the best programmer out there. Thanks for another good application.
Thanks for program, but and on my RoverPC (Amoi) does not start.
Wow, great release!
Damn this is some solid piece of programming, PROPS!
Suggestion
For the next version, can you make it so that you can sync your iTunes library?
Lumen was going to do that, but it looks like that project is dead. You are the fastest and best developer, any chance that that can happen soon? It would be really cool. Thanks A_C.

great software!
WOW!
A_C you're great...it incredible...but I Loved That full Screen album art that takes all-over the places...all the toolbars are transparent so the artwork could be seen...is it possible to view the playback-artwork that much big again?
tnx anyway...you're the man you know
M.A.S., ^^rac, xd1936 & EvgeniyKo
I need further info:
- OS version
- WMP version
- how many songs stored? where?
Try a soft-reset. If still not work, try to delete the registry tree \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\A_C\S2P\ and start S2P again.
Thanks.
won't start
per usual great work, but wont start on glofish M700 wm6.1
This program is truely awesome. Besides of the player as whole, I really like the idea of sliding up/down on the images to see the coverflow (which is working very well). I guess the iPod does not do it like this due to its gyrothingies our HTCs lack, so I thought I'd mention this and give an extra "bravo"
Everything is running pretty good on my HTC Touch Cruise.
Big thumbs up!
Thanks very very much, a donation will surely follow
It doesn't start on my I-Mate JAMA.........while the last S2P 0.17 works well
however thanks for your job, great as always!!!

A. Yes, as long as your device has a proper OS.
Q. Does S2P support AVRCP?
A. Yes, starting from v0.40.
Q. S2P does not support AVRCP on my device?
A. It's found that latest devices have some specific codes to handle AVRCP specifically with the built-in WMP. So there is no way to intercept the AVRCP control codes unless a real device can be studied on-hand or the related SDK is publicized.
Q. How to get AVRCP works on HTC Diamond?
A. Follow these steps:
- remove the Music tap from TouchFlo 3D with Diamond TF3D Config (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405749 (thanks Sushilange);
- restart the device;
- turn on the Bluetooth & connect the BT Headset;
- (skip this step for v0.55 or later) start the Windows Media Player (sometimes it will be automatically started once the BT Headset is connected) & press the End key to minimize it;
- start S2P & enjoy
Q. How to get the HTC Wired Remote Control works?
A. From v0.58, S2P supports this remote with limited conditions:
- either TouchFlo (Manila) 2D/3D, HTC Home or FM Radio must be turned off.
- connect the remote, run S2PCHR.exe.
- select MENU -> Calibrate...; press the PLAY button on the remote; message "Calibration done!" comes out; QUIT.
- remember to run this calibration once after each soft-reset.
- enjoy!
Q. Does S2P support playlist?
A. No, not yet.
Q. The system icons on the top bar do not update?!
A. Yes, they only show the start status. But the battery level icon is up-to-date. However, they will all be live if S2U2 v1.00 is already running in the background.
Q. How to make S2P runs faster?
A. Some tips:
- organize the mp3 files in folders
- keep the mp3 files small (<= 256kbps)
- don't use embedded album art
- keep album art small (<= 200 square pixels)
- let S2P goes through every album for creating some cached files for later better performance
- set AlwaysLoadEmbedAlbumPic to 0
- set FastAlbumPic to 1
- set FullScreenAlbum to 0
Q. How to control S2P from other program?
A. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2306639&postcount=1248
Q. Why S2U2, S2V & S2P are all free?
A. Because MS has left them in the factory.
Others
Q. Is S2P free?
A. Yes, but any donation is welcome (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webs...e=S2P Donations&no_shipping=0&no_note=1&tax=0), thanks.

A_C!
Thank you!!! I have been waiting for this tooo long!!!
God blesses you!!!
3q3q.
Thanks for your continued efforts. This is without doubt the player of choice for the TyTnII. I've donated and hope you keep up the good work
- the Album View now can flow. (since this view is very CPU intensive, it may be sluggish on your device)

One Question : How do we enable album art scrolling ? I know how to do the rotate and coverflow mode, but is there a new flow on the main screen ?
Edit. I posted this while you were posting the readme. Ooops. Dbl tap the title if you can't figure it out.
Thanks a lot for new release test it now
when i pressed power off button, will the music stop playing?
AWESOME!!!! I was very happy to see this thread. D/Ling now. Thanks so much.
Just tried it out and it works beautifully!!!
Very smooth!! Thanks again A_C

Thanks. It's the same old screen with easier navigation. Just try to slide the screen from left to right or right to left...

No.
I can see album art in the main interface.
However, Album View works both in Portrait & Landscape mode.
Have try SR after installation.
Any ideas????
Hmm... for some reason it's sluggish on my polaris...
as you said.
what to do.
I found that AlwaysLoadEmbedPic default value is actually 1 not 0.
Changing it back to 0 improved speeds a bit and solved some problems with covers not showing in normal view.
As expected album view is sluggish on my Hermes/8525, but it's still usable. If you want speed, just pause while you are using album view. And I also find that using portrait is faster than landscape. Just some suggestions.
Thank you soooo much for your hardwork...
This version is amazing the album view in both portrait and landscape is working FLOW-lessly...
Once again thanks...

Hi A_C, thanks for the update !!
I never care about album art before, but now I tried . However, they don't show up, I don't know why. In the registry, options for cover are all set to "1". These covers are .jpg with correct name (cover, album etc).
You said in the FAQ that they have to be created by WMP, is it a restriction, meaning that if you download a pic from internet, and use it as a cover.jpg, it can't work ?
EDIT: I realised that double tapping ont the name of the song/album bring up the cover in a full screen mode, it works . But is there a way to get the cover also in "nomral mode", where there is the "music note" by default?
Strike,
arrive at work and what will i see?
A new version of S2P, now this will become a great day.
Thanks man
2 seconds delay
I love the program, but took 2 seconds to skip to the next song.
It is a keeper though.
Thanks very much.
ps. Just checked with post #17..most of my mp3 are embedded with album art, therefore, that is why it is kinda slow.
It's an MP3/Ogg player which is optimized for the needs on a Pocket PC.
That's (among others) big screen buttons, simple playlist update from the contents of certain directories, and support of hardware buttons.
MortPlayer is freeware, i.e., you can use it without paying.
The target was originally to create a simple player, which "simply plays the music" and doesn't nag me every time I add or remove some songs (playlist management).
But since back then, the player growed a lot, and by now does almost everything you'd wish from an music player...
Included features:
All basic functions (Play, pause, skip track, spooling, ...)
Supports:
-MP2, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, and WAV (thanks to MAD, libovd, and Green Software...)
-GSPlayer plug-ins (e.g. for MIDI files)
-Playback of files on the net, e.g. http://foo.bar/mytrack.mp3 or serversharepath rack.mp3
-Shoutcast and IceCast streams
-PodCasts and online playlists, e.g. http://foo.bar/playlist.m3u
-WinAmp and MediaPlayer playlists (M3U, PLS, ASX, WMP, read only)

User defined startup action (Changer Mode, recent playlist, update playlist, continue last track, ...), repeat and shuffle mode
Write informations about the currently played track in a file or append it to a logfile
And many more settings
Attention updaters: There's a "relative volume" now, which can be modified with the volume bar. Due to this, the preamp slider isn't required any longer for many users. I.e., you should set "Skip volume and preamp" in "Handling" to "No" and check "Relative volume" in "Program start" if you want to use it. Or simply use the Wizard...
Changes since V3.3 (please check the forum for changes between betas):
- Settings extracted to separate program
- AVRCP support (buttons on BT stereo headsets)
- Audiobook option in the favorites. Click the "?" next to it for details. E.g., the last position is memorized and stop doesn't modify the position.
- New alarm clock options: increasing volume and repeating of alarm sound file
- "Relative volume": Modifies the volume relative to the system volume
- Reworked the options for screen toggle, now more easy but still powerfull
- Sort playlist by filename, entry title, date, or ID3 tags - also immediately when added (settings, in "Shuffle/repeat" or "Open")
- Several modifications and new options to ease the use of playlists and favorites, e.g. selection of start song, faster adding of single tracks, automatical activation of Changer Mode, ...
- Fixed several display bugs, esp. on VGA devices with WM5
- Fitted dialogs to work with square screen devices and sometimes look better with "real VGA"
- Modifications for skin designers, e.g. square screen support, volume up/down, spool buttons, ...
- Easier translations
- Some improvements regarding stability and speed

MORT PLAYER
http://www.sto-helit.de/forum/download/file.php?id=79
what is this ..is this a skin or a new player..please clearly specify
its a new beta version of an existing music player (maybe the best player?)
The original poster appears to have confused things by adding their own skin to the post to make mortplayer appear like S2p
Hi all,
I have always used Pocket Player (PP) as my music player in WinMo 6.1 (purchased). It is by FAR the best player doing practically everything. After upgrading my HD to HD2 I discovered that everytime I start PP, HTC AudioManager starts in the background ( as a process) taking the CPU to 95%. Even after I close PP, AudioManager process keeps the CPU at 80%-90% draining all the battery... and I always have to use a task manager to kill it manually...
AudioManager CANNOT be removed as it a ROM file and I have not figured out a way to block it from starting with PP. Can anyone help me, remove AudioManager, block it, get rid of it in any way possible??? (I even removed all AM registry keys but after starting PP the keys appeared back again!
Thanks.
AudioManager was probably set to launch upon boot by a program.
Are you running Co0kie's Home Tab 1.8.5 ?
Yes, I am using Co0kie's Home Tab 1.8.5. Is this manila mod (CHT) the cause? Should I remove CHT? I use my HD2 heavily as a walkman (over 1,500 songs on it) so I am desperate to have my Pocket Player working perfectly...).
Yes, CHT 1.8.x has 3 more "extra space" screens in addition to the Home screen which is at level 1. The AudioManager is running at level 0. Swipe the Home screen downwards and you should see the music player.
You don't have to remove the entire CHT to rectify this issue.
1) Click on "Menu" at the bottom right-hand corner of Today/Home screen.
2) Click on "Edit Home Layout" option.
3) Click on "Level 0 - Extra Space"..
4) Click on "Advanced" at the bottom right-hand corner
5) Uncheck/Disable the the option "Show music player" at the bottom of the list.
6) Click on "Done" to exit out all the way.
7) Soft-reset.
Cheers.
No luck... Removed Sense Music Player from CHT and restarted the HD2 without Sense too but on Spb Mobile Shell 3.5.5. Started Pocket Player (4.1 - latest release) and HTC AudioManager reappeared again as a process taking 94% of the CPU and taking the Snapdragon cpu to its knees...
It looks like if a media player is started, some form of system audio libraries/dlls are loaded and these are related to (or given by) HTC AudioManager. Once the AM process is killed everything is back to normal and the HD2 speed breezes..
So back to square zero....
