Is this actually a hotfix or is it again some Radio or sth. like that? I don't trust HTC's descriptions anymore...
Can't load it atm. BTW it is called "LEO_S00276-02.exe".

mmmmmmmmmm not sure: on the italian site the old new sms update disappeared and this same new one appeared today

Just Dloaded same update on Philippines site. Installed it and also not sure what it updated. Hope it fixed the lag issue and the message highlighting that is very annoying.

That is a new file name. I do not recognise it. I have the released HTC Messaging 1.8 from this forum, and eventhough the MMS doesnt work properly I dont fancy deploying a new and official update LOL.
EDIT: This update is for the HD Mini, not the HD2!

This isnt new. The only new update is for the HD Mini. The link above is a hotfix from January.

i downloaded it and not sure what it has done apart from take up 15mb of my phone storage, the lag is still the and the silly high light thing is still there, come on htc sort it out the only prob with our top end phone is the txting
HTC seem to be chaning a lot of dates on already submitted hotfxes lately it seems...
Well, but it should be new. I unpacked the EXE with WinRAR and there are lots of files edited within June, the latest edit was on June 26th. And the XML within clearly sais that there are lots of files replaced containing HTC messaging.
I only have 8Mb of internal storage left so I guess this update isn't for me, whether or not it's actually for the HD2 or not. It's strange, but I have the same applications installed on my iPAQ 214 and have many time as much on-board storage left. I suppose I'll have to wait for the next ROM update (laughs maniacally.)
Whatever, this is probably just another one of HTC's one day wonders. There have been other updates that have disappeared within a few days of appearing.

Hi,
I have the same update appearing under the French HD2 support page. The file is named _HTC HD2_LEO_S00276-02 and has a digital signature from June 25th.
Anyway, if it doesn't help with the lag, installing it would be useless.
Edit : There you go, it disappeared.

you can find it in HTC Club. To go there you have to register first. I've just read it and I do not really understand it. It sounds to me as if they talked about a different device. And I think my ROM to be newer than the one they offer there. But as I said it does not make sense to me.
It is so strange. They talk of start and settings and usb connection and so on, but that is not supposed to work unless it was liberated. So that's why I do not understand what they are talking about. Can anyone clarify?

you find it in HTC Clulb. Go to "My Downloads" and then "Phone Software Update". And there you see the a picture of the Shift.
I don't want to install it, because the instruction says that everything is lost and I am under the impression that the software is older than the one on my Shift.

do you really want to install the download? Isn't the ROM in your Shift newer than the one you are downloading? I compared the screenshot on the page with the information I found in Snapvue. Cannot find the "device information" when I go over "start" and "settings". Isn't all very strange as this possibility isn't supposed to work? I do not get it.

Resetting the WM side would at least give me another 14 days playing with the Palm emulator...

Very strange update indeed. It seems that it is for the German version Shift only and furthermore for older ROM-Versions. The ROM-Version to compare in a picture shown is dated 05/10/07 (Number 1.06.405.1 WWE). My Shift is one of the first delivered in Germany and its ROM-Version is 1.30.407.0 GER) - so it seems to be way younger then the one in the illustration.
Before downloading the 67,5 MB-file you have to confirm a serious warning that any program or data stored by you will be lost after installing the update. If you confirm - did it on my notebook, not on the Shift! - you get the message: "This will install TM2008_GER Version 16.00.1449 on your computer."
"TM" apparently means "Trend Micro" because the file creates the folder "Trend Micro" and expands itself therein to the folder "setup". So IMO it's only an update of the internet security software. By the way: I run "Trend Micro" and my version number is 16.10.1106 - way younger than the download version as well.
So what? Another example of the strange behaviour of a strange company. That's all.

I'm not german so dont have the file in htcclub
but if you are sure it is TM then lol.
you can still upload it to rapidshare.com, i'd like to see it.
(the xda-devs attachments can't be larger than 8MB, that's why your upload failed)
For the Phone software update, if you've register a htc smartphone or wm phone, the update is for those phones.
If you registered shift only, there's no update software inside the PSU !

yeah that screenshot explains, it is a generic page that the phone update software link will show you if there is an update.
but I guess they intended this trendmicro thing for the other downloads section, they just made an error and uploaded it to phone update section.

so things seem to have become much clearer and I do not have to upload the file anymore. Seems that some of you folks do not need any sleep.
I do not know too much about all these things, but apparently I was right that it was a very strange update, as it isn't an update at all or a falsely declared one.
In the tread "HTC sucks" someone made the suggestion to start a blog in which to make public the ridiculous support of HTC. As I said I do not know enough about the way to do these things, but done it should be. HTC really, really sucks when it comes to support. I have sent them several emails. Nothing but a standardized answer that they will answer in some cosmic future.

This update has Nothing to do with WM rom!
The setup file unpacks to ...program files/trend micro/... and so I aborted the installation. No bad results, but waste of time.

Software does say its 480x800 compatible, even mentions the Touch HD. (I've run the setup and put the settings to forced, but I still get the aligment issue.) Reported it to the creators, but wondered if Im alone in this issue?

No, you are not alone. I have the exact same problem, even though their website says it works in WVGA mode, it doesn't. I've sent them two emails in the past week and so far, no response. Makes me wonder why I bother paying for software...

Where did you download it from? I can see it has been updated to 2.51, but when downloaded it appears as version 2.5 with the same symptom on my device!
I will check whether there are traces from previous install in the registry.

I have downloaded the 'official' version from their website and it does not work. It appears to be the exact same file I already have (it's the same size). It appears that they may not have updated their web links or have linked the file incorrectly. I have sent them an email.

Has someone else noticed a dramaticly system slowdown after starting VsNotepad? Ending the program doesn´t solve the problem, only softreset does. You can notice the slowdown in TF3D or better in coreplay, which even stopps working.
If you have the same problem, is there a really gote alternative for VsNotepad?
Just to notice:
Softreset isn´t demanded if you close the app. in the app and not via taskmanager. That way I can live with the slowdown when the app is running.

That's not very helpful is it Noam23. You forgot to mention that keeping in touch has always been very important, and this update delivers just that: fast and reliable SMS messaging.
I downloaded the hotfix too and found out that when press 'send' your message blinks to show that it was successfully sent. Previously, my message resides in either 'out' or draft and there was no indication that the operation is successful.
I'm using V6 Test 1 Brians Taskbar and it seems that since the sms hotfix, my "new message" notification icon has reverted back to the default icon. All the other icons are as they should be. Anyone else noticed this? I did reinstall the taskbar at some point though, so for all i know it could have been this way since then. Perhaps needs another reinstall.

UPDATE: I was talking nonsense - i have the cab on my storage card. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the taskbar, and the problem has gone away - back to the correct sms bubble thingy

*Note: This update is only applicable to ROM version is equal to 1.49.XXX.X, or lower. *
I don't think the sms hot fix is meant for ROM1.61. Should be integrated within 1.61.

Just wanted to point out that today 14-01-10 there has been a new HTC SMS FIX rolled out from the website and its done the trick for me, sending/reci seems to be much better, loading of SMS threading now works still a bit slow but allows you to type a msg while it loads. I also had an issue where 'tap to start message' would not work on some contacts and this is fixed as well.
URL (Will not let me due to restrictions but the update is on the HTC site.)
Please let me know how you get on with this fix, *touch wood* one step closer to this phone being how it should have been out the box

It does not fix this.. not on my phone.
I use the NLD 1.48 rom and it works fine.
I am using 3.5 NETCF
And i did not install the previous fix
and once it installs, it auto soft reset, go to the remove program is not there at all.
Not available yet for me. Will try once it is there.

True, its not in the list.. quite weird
The update installed fine for me (CF 3.5 and previous hotfix installed).
It seems to have caused "- GSM" to be appended to the end of every text that already existed on my phone (both sent and received), but not to any texts sent/received since applying the update (almost like they accidentally left some debug information in the fix, as with some of my longer texts it is appearing on top of the date/time). Anyone else see this?

I installed it on a UK vodafone branded phone over the previous sms fix and it worked fine.

And the not-send problem ?
While I'm typing a text or email, my LG Quantum will randomly exit the text field.
For example, if I'm typing on my physical keyboard, the bar with the paste icon disappears as if I hit "BACK" when I really didn't.
Is this a hardware issue? Has anyone had a similar problem?

I see you're on ATT. As far as I've heard, they have not released the latest update for windows phones. Chances are pretty good that you don't have the latest update unless you used a work around.
Latest version of wp7 is 7.1.8107.79 which applies the missing keyboard fix.
My guess is you're still two updates behind and have 7.1.7720.69
You can thank ATT for that.
If you do have 8107 then your problem beats the hell outta me.

You can send the updates manually. Those updates are provided in cab files.

I took my Quantum out of its box for the first time in months yesterday, turned it on, and immediately got the notice for an update. Went through the 7740 update, and the 8107 popped up right away and started installing. So AT&T has it out, but I'm not sure when it shipped.
