SMS bug - WM6.5

FYI:
HTC have confirmed that there is a bug with WM6.5 that shows that you have an unread message, while you clearly don't.
A fix is being prepared by Microsoft.

Never knew about that...
But knew about alarm ringing alarm and notification sound mixed.... and alarm does not stop... in the morning.
Battery additional info reseted to "0" so no historical info there....
No option to light signal for more that 5 minutes (thank god there is a registry tweak for that).

What about the other bugs? Or am I the only one having them:
-Extra blank line between input-box and suggested words-line. Meaning the suggested words-line cross the "send"-button, and when you're picking a word, you accidently push "send".
-TouchFlo/Sense now only shows 160(?) letters in SMS-dialogue. Almost all my sms, in and out, exceed 160, so to read sms now, I have to use the Windows-dialogue(inbox). This was not a problem on WM6.1
-The input box and keyboard overlay the sms-dialogue, so what you see when you write a new text, is NOT the last you recieved, but 2 or 3 messages back in history. The newest ones are hidden behind keyboard, instead of scrolled up.
The weird thing is that these don't seem like bugs, just.. bad construction.

No I dont have these issues, but then again I dont use HTC Sense. Are these Sense related or Windows 6.5 related?

Totally with ya on this one, toth42. I'm having exactly the same issues and think it's Sense rather than WinMo 6.5 itself...

Yea, I'll say it's sense/manila/tf3d, but all the problems occured after the official 6.5 update.
BTW, the one bug, with last SMS's being hidden by keyboard and textbox, is the same in WinMo(inbox). Just check, go to a conversation in your inbox, and whip up the keyboard. The keyboard and text-box takes most of the screen, and what u see above it, is not the last message of the conversation.

They are not bugs, just bad ideas badly implemented i suppose. Yep, the one with send button is driving me crazy

I seem to recall there was a hotfix for this for 6.1, called something like "hotfix for fixing the problem with the extra white line when writing sms"? And still they don't implement the fix in the next version?

Hey guys i got the issue fixed using a little tool to clear the message count. Check this post, and thanks to onthemail:

Run the program and do a soft reset - wait a couple of seconds and the annoying green message count will disappear. If not, do it all again (run program and soft reset) and it should def work.

Although I'm not experiencing the exact same problem the topic starter posted, I'm also having a problem with the HTC SMS. When I go to contacts, choose one of my favorites, go to the sms tab and send an sms from there, sometimes the sms doesn't show up in the thread, it just totally disappears from the device. As far as I know the messages are sent to the person, but it's annoying to me to not be able to read back what I wrote.
Anyone familiar with this problem and has a solution for it?

I get quite a few Joke texts sent, but the long ones allways get cut off near the end. Some of them must be 4 or more texts long. I didnt have this problem until i upgraded to win 6.5. I allways miss the punchline is this a known problem and is there a fix or is there i setting i have missed.

It's a bug in WM6.5 unfortunately. You have to go in to Windows messages to see the entire message (as opposed to HTC's sense UI)..it's annoying and i hope HTC come out with a rom update very soon as this is just one of many many bugs and annoying quirks in 6.5. Argh!

I received "Device not compatable" errors on both files.
Prolly because of LEO ported manila.

I have the stock AT&T rom on my Pure and both updates worked fine.

I also have this problem, so annoying! Microsoft need to get a fix ASAP!

[Cab] Leo SMS Fix for HD (new fix cab added)

Hi all,
I made a cab from the 2009-12-15 Leo SMS fix (http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=812&news_id=407), so this can be installed on other devices with Sense 2.5..
I'm on a sense 2.1 rom currently, so can't test it...So be careful, it might break ur SMS function, test with your own risk and always backup (I guess the new 2.02 package has the update already or even a better fix)..

i'm not sure what it fixes... but it doesn't seem to fix the annoying slow messaging thingy... I was just coverting the .exe which can only be installed on HD2 to a cab that can be installed on every device..
I have heard that the htc messaging in the 2.02 pack is fast, anyone tried it?

Am I the only one in this thread that uses the actual HTC site? or do people just like to hijack threads and flame people who are doing what they can to help the community... As I remember no one else knew what the Leo Camera Fix did either, but it proved useful, at least for some.

Looks to me like HTC don't really say what the fix "fixes" but THANKS for creating the CAB, i'll have a look and see what it effects if anything. If it's worth it I'll cook it in for my next flash

Okay, have just installed the CAB.
So far no noticable difference when sending / recieving SMS.
I'm using my own custom ROM, using WinMo 6.5 28014, and most of the packages from Leo 1.48.

When the fix first came out, I tried it but it won't install on hd. and now I learned how to create the cab, so I just made it. I need to have my phone switched on all day right now and I'm with a sense 2.1 ROM, so can't test it, but I thought someone with a lower leo build may want to try it...

have you tried restoring tons of messages to see if the slowness has been somehow fixed ? Last time I've tried with 2.5 the phone almost got stuck (with about 600 messages)

you installed the fix and restored tons of sms, what I'd like to know is this:
- adding a contact with a lot of sms history to favourites slows down the phone ?
- opening such contact slows down everything ?
- I understand there is no sms history shown in the manila contact at all ? actually that point isn't very clear to me. where is that the original message is not shown ?
what I'd like to know, if you have got time to explain it to me, is what actually the fix changes, and how fast it makes opening sms history on a contact.
One last minor point is that a big sms history had most sms cut to one or two lines.

well for from the contact page i cannot tell you as i have flashed my phone a couple of times afterwords(im trying to build my own)
for the sms not shown
when i get a new message i go the message tab and click the sms
there im supposed to see the threaded conversation between the person im replying to
the whole conversation doesnt load(waited about 3 min)
but i can directly type a reply to the text message whitout a lag
hope this sorts of that question

no, the sms fix is only for Leo package lower than 1.49...and the weather fix is for any sense 2.5.. I think 2.1 manila does not need any fix, both sunny animation and sms are working ok in 2.1 manila

New sms update htc

Morning all,
Just wanted to point out that today 14-01-10 there has been a new HTC SMS FIX rolled out from the website and its done the trick for me, sending/reci seems to be much better, loading of SMS threading now works still a bit slow but allows you to type a msg while it loads. I also had an issue where 'tap to start message' would not work on some contacts and this is fixed as well.
URL (Will not let me due to restrictions but the update is on the HTC site.)
Please let me know how you get on with this fix, *touch wood* one step closer to this phone being how it should have been out the box

Installed it, works fine. I never had the sms bug but this fix does seem to speed things up quite a bit. I did not uninstall the last hotfix, just installed it and done.

It does not fix this.. not on my phone.
I use the NLD 1.48 rom and it works fine.

I am using 3.5 NETCF
And i did not install the previous fix
and once it installs, it auto soft reset, go to the remove program is not there at all.

Not available yet for me. Will try once it is there.

True, its not in the list.. quite weird

The update installed fine for me (CF 3.5 and previous hotfix installed).
It seems to have caused "- GSM" to be appended to the end of every text that already existed on my phone (both sent and received), but not to any texts sent/received since applying the update (almost like they accidentally left some debug information in the fix, as with some of my longer texts it is appearing on top of the date/time). Anyone else see this?

I installed it on a UK vodafone branded phone over the previous sms fix and it worked fine.

[HOTFIX] Fix for SMS Sent Message Notification Always On

The fix to the sent notification problem is in the HTC New SMS Function HotFix (24-01-2010). It will downgrade the HTC Messaging Client to V1.5 (build 2011.3631) which works fine and NO SENT MESSAGE NOTIFICATION!!
If you have a Rom with this problem and want to disable the Sent Notification message then you can extract the exe file from the attached zip file, copy it to your phone and install. I dont know if it downgrades any functionality but it stops the Sent Message Notification from coming through which is annoying everyone.

Yes thats what I meant lol
Well the HTC Messaging Client in the new Manila Build is 2012.1931 so I can only assume that HTC either made a mistake in that build and enabled the Sent Notification permanently so it cant be disabled or they decided that it should always be on.
Either way the HotFix 'downgrade' option will fix the annoying problem.

On my Diamond, I could go into the options and turn on delivery reports for a particular message. Anybody know how to do that on any Leo ROM?

Just install Advanced Config, then run it and go down to the messaging tab and enable the SMS Sent Notification option.

Meh, this is useful sometimes, but not always (since I'm charged for it). Why do they have to get rid of useful features? This has been possible on Nokias since the dawn of time, and I was able to do it on my Diamond. :'(

I really dont know why since all it does is update the htc messaging app and nothing else. If its causing alot of problems then a hard reset will get everything back to normal.

I have the most recent rom from the htc website, i never got the sent message popup, tried that advance config tool, turned it on and it still don't show =(

i have this problem with the axlor rom.
i down loaded and extracted the exe put it on my phone but it wont install.
just says there is no application associated with htc hd2 ect
run the app first then open this file from within the aplication?
am i doing somthing rong?

mmmmmmmmmm not sure: on the italian site the old new sms update disappeared and this same new one appeared today

I was sure it had a date from january in it earlier today...

Just Dloaded same update on Philippines site. Installed it and also not sure what it updated. Hope it fixed the lag issue and the message highlighting that is very annoying.

That is a new file name. I do not recognise it. I have the released HTC Messaging 1.8 from this forum, and eventhough the MMS doesnt work properly I dont fancy deploying a new and official update LOL.
EDIT: This update is for the HD Mini, not the HD2!

This isnt new. The only new update is for the HD Mini. The link above is a hotfix from January.

See the old SMS update a few posts above yours. This has a different filename so I think it is new.

I mean... when I try to install it says NOT COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR DEVICE

i downloaded it and not sure what it has done apart from take up 15mb of my phone storage, the lag is still the and the silly high light thing is still there, come on htc sort it out the only prob with our top end phone is the txting

Well, but it should be new. I unpacked the EXE with WinRAR and there are lots of files edited within June, the latest edit was on June 26th. And the XML within clearly sais that there are lots of files replaced containing HTC messaging.

I only have 8Mb of internal storage left so I guess this update isn't for me, whether or not it's actually for the HD2 or not. It's strange, but I have the same applications installed on my iPAQ 214 and have many time as much on-board storage left. I suppose I'll have to wait for the next ROM update (laughs maniacally.)
Whatever, this is probably just another one of HTC's one day wonders. There have been other updates that have disappeared within a few days of appearing.

Hi,
I have the same update appearing under the French HD2 support page. The file is named _HTC HD2_LEO_S00276-02 and has a digital signature from June 25th.
Anyway, if it doesn't help with the lag, installing it would be useless.
Edit : There you go, it disappeared.
