Hey, it just occurred to me that if everyone who CAN donates $20.00 to Haykuro, he will have himself a nice little fund starting up. If you can donate more, do so. This kid deserves our REAL thanks for all of this work. Lets pony up guys.
17 years old and kicking open source ass... he deserves to be rewarded.
EDIT: Find the link to donate on his iphoneproject.com page.
I'll surely give some $$$ if he can quickly fix market issue
by the way, your URL is invalid for paypal.
I donated a while back!
I donated a while back as well. What bugs me is that we have so many other people working on this like Daproy and Korndub and they get no $$$ or recognition for the most part. I say that Haykuro needs to set up a fund and split moneys received between people who contributed to this. None less, he is a genious.
I've had the same concerns as you.
I think Darkrift worked on this as well. Probably when the builds are pretty much complete, someone should put a list of everyone who contributed so we can send them all something as well.
I had some ppl offer donations but I have not worked on this nearly as much as you guys think. What I have done was my way of donating to him since I am poor and cannot do so with paypal. I tried to beta test when I could, write up tuts, answer questions and much the same as everyone else in the thread did. I do not know the extent of the others who are helping so I cannot say the same for them, but I personally have not been working hard enough on this to deserve donations (unless you wanna send me a free G1, I will take that )
If you feel the need to donate to me, send it here https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=4290101
Everyone has been very generous and caring, and I thank you all for that.
This post will give credit where it's due, and let everyone know what's up (clear some confusion).
History of the builds:
1. xmoo and his anonymous source post up a leak of the system folder from a developer magic (or something similar).
2. Everyone on XDA was going crazy, of course, and I tried to explain how to get it to boot properly, and no one listened, so I took it into my own hands to release a functional version.
3. After some talking with barakinflorida, he gave me the idea of implementing aHome into the build that way we had a home screen (at the time, no home screen was available as aCore crashed when you tried opening it).
4. After a week of running it, i noticed a OTA update being pushed (noticed it in logcat) i pulled it and released build 4.
5. I noticed the SPL and posted that, with the proper changes in update-script for the dream. Same thing with the radio.
6. korndub noted that my update-script for the radio was messed up and simply stripped down the update-script (not sure if you guys remember the recovery errors on my radio update, as opposed to korndubs stripped radio update).
5. A week later I got some info from darkrift which led to build 4.5.
6. After some personal tinkering i got google apps from 4.5 ported to build 4, and called it 4.9.
7. 5.0 was then released after daproy noted the camera and audio fix in the master branches of the kernel. he also kindly donated a pre-compiled kernel, saving everyone time from waiting for me to find a linux comp i could compile on.
8. Since then me and daproy have worked together to bring you the next builds. daproy provides me with the kernels, and i do everything else.
I think in the end, the people who would deserve donations would be up to you.
But this is the history of how it all came to be
I would prefer it were told like this (much more heroic):
5.5 Darkrift daringly put the life of his precious G1 on the line to test out various beta builds that haykuro made in a half asleep state. Fending away fire and deadly battery pulls, he made sure everyone who flashes one of those roms would still have a working G1.

Excuse me for being a NoOb, but here goes....
.... Is it possible to send my girlfriend through paypal? If so where can I find a "how-to"? It is very well deserved.
If she is hot, just send pics :S
Just donated $20 to the man ............. hope others follow and donate.
Keep up the good work man!
I donated a decent amount to hay and never even got a thank you. I will not donate again to him. The least he could have done was sent a thank you...
I'm gonna go ahead and give a big thanks to Haykuro/Darkrift since trying to install a2sd for the first time by following Darkrift's instructions led me to write my original tutorial(how passe that tutorial of mine seems now..), and subsequently my appstosd app, which led to the unionfs method and appstosd2. Of course other people helped along the way(TheDudeofLife, MartinFick, JF) but it was really Haykuro and Darkrift that got me going.
In short: you can partially thank both of them for having unionfs(somewhat ironic considering it was Haykuro's ROMs that never implemented it (j/k man, I think I had enough trouble trying to debug my script with TheDude's ROM))
EDIT: Upon rereading I realized that this could be taken as somewhat backhanded. I didn't mean that Darkrifts instructions were so bad I had to write my own. He intentionally(I now fully understand why) left out some parts of the process and I thought I'd take up the torch and try to have the whole thing in a way I saw as a little bit safer(or at least less scary).

I only started this thread because I know that this kid is 17 and still working on getting his HS diploma, also holding down a job AND working on these roms. Even after he was burned by someone on the forums, he came back when it was ready and gave us Hero (with a NEW Rosie smell)... He continues to put out roms for us and now the canucks with the Rogers rom. I also just saw that there's a Hero rom he just put out for those running Magic/Sapphire devices. The kid continues to work hard on this stuff and I think he deserves to be rewarded. No matter who was helping him get stuff to make the builds lets remember WHO brought the first cupcake to the masses... Now he's brought us a GOOD (not great yet, but it'll get there) version of a rom that we aren't even supposed to have ACCESS to!!! I, for one, think that this guy should get together with JF and Dude and whoever else and start a consortium and start getting paid to develop for Android. This is the OS of the future (for now) and there is some serious need for dedicated programmers who can make it all work... I think he is more on top of it than anyone out there...
That's what made me post this... I have donated a couple of times to the kid, and I'm not done. It's not to pay him for his product, but to thank him for working his butt off on something that he doesn't have to and then giving it away to the masses (again, he doesn't have to)....
So again, Thanks Haykuro and I hope your situation changes soon... Keep up the coding man....

No necessarily... I was actually just trying to explain why I singled him out for donations. I don't know him personally, have never seen the kids face... All I know is that he's been dedicated to making the device better, and sharing it with all of us, all the while going to school and work, dealing with everything that comes with being 17! I noticed some posts that mentioned all who helped him, and that's fine. This is about helping a kid who really needs the help. Who knows, Steve may be the next Gates or Jobs!!!

Only if someone tries to make it ugly! And for the record, I'm no-one's fanboy. Let's look at it this way... In a community, those who have the means help those who need and deserve the help. Haykuro is in the latter group and a lot of us are in the former group. Would you have a thread closed based on the fact that you don't agree with the material? Does that sound like the way things are done on this board? If it is, I'm out!
EDIT: Mods, if you feel there's a better category than Dev for this thread, please feel free to move it...
Hello Ladies and Gentleman,
[Dear XDA Mods: Please don't be greatly upset by this. The whole community at the Eris forums needs to know this, this has been going on to long as a PM battle or what not. I have reported him and sent several mods PM's about this]
At this point I don't even know where to start. This is a long story so I'll try to make is as short as I can.
Andrizoid is a fraud.
Thats all I can sum it up to.
It started a LONG time ago when he first tried to make forks of other peoples roms, claiming that he made fixes to them, and he posted it without the original author's content.
It all started here:
http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-eris/73681-evil-eris-2-0-oc-apps2sd-here.html
Yep, thats Evil Eris v2.0, a rom that I made.
Without asking, he decided to post a modified forked version of it and post it to AndroidForums.
It wasn't until AFTER he had done this was that he PM'd me.
I was quite annoyed, but I let it drop, and luckily so did he.
THEN, he tried to go for Senseable, a rom made by Jamezelle.
I warned Jamezelle, and luckily he was able to stop him in his tracks:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6436078&postcount=215
=-----------------=
Then here comes the most recent problem.
Andrizoid was PM'ing DarchStar about porting CyanogenMod for the Eris.
Darchstar being the very nice person he was made it for him. According to Andrizoid, they made agreements: http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/7281/74873154.png
DarchStar NEVER said he DIDN'T want to be credited.
At the time, Darchstar didn't know the controversy that this would bring.
Andrizoid started to lie to the public that HE was working on the fixes and that HE would release updates. I point to the first few posts in his thread as evidence :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687493
Andrizoid did not work on this at all. This is not his "hard work", it belongs to Darch.
Why would he be asking for donations if the work isn't his?
Well, if you don't believe me, he has even pointed out multiple time's he didn't work on this:
[From my inbox]: http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/4089/86218965.png
After he needed more help, he started to PM other people devs so that they could work on the problems with the rom for him.
Evidence[From SoCalSpecialist]: http://tinypaste.com/ce6bb0
This is during the time that he needed help on his rom. He still does!
He even came into the AndIRC chat room asking me and others for help.
He claims that Darch only made the initial port and that he has changes it SO much.ALL he has done is either take other people's boot.img [which I doubt he even knows how to open up and edit] or add Apps.
As a cyanogen rom, he isn't allowed to redistribute the google apps in them and he is not legally able to redistribute Dolphin Browser HD EVEN if its a free app, its not free to distribute. It's people like this that are getting a great developer like Cyanogen in such trouble.I feel, like many others, that he should not be supported in this community for the things he has done incorrectly.
Then, as Darch stated , Andrizoid started telling him about how rough his life is and that he needs all the money he can get and that he barely got donations.[Which I think everyone here can call bull on.]
He HAS gotten donations: http://i47.tinypic.com/33v1cgx.png
[This was a PM that was directed to the wrong person , we were lucky just to get it.]
I have formally confronted him before, he'd either ignore me about my warnings, or get all mad and upset about it.
If you think I'm lying, you can ask Darch, he feels the same way! Or even better join the AndIRC chat room and we will share you the whole thing.
Why doesn't Darch just release his own rom then? kinda like how he did with the GSM hero?....
I agree
Andrizoid, It is ILLEGAL to include the Google Experience in cyanongen rom ports. Cyanogen HIMSELF received a Cease & Desist letter from the lawyers of Google. What you are doing could cause trouble for more than just yourself.
I just wanted to post this to backup Frameworks claims, as they are just. Andrizoid is a shady character with questionable values. I hope through these posts we can help you to understand that and help Andrizoid to change his thieving ways.
Andrizoid, you had this coming for a long time sir.
I once asked Andrizoid to stop stealing people roms, and at the very least give the devs credit for the work he was stealing. Well, he get upset and reported me to af.com (for what i dont know). Here is his PM to me
From Andrizoid:
i did report you
thats what happens when your a ****.
and if your really going to try and be a hard ass i think ill just flood you with messages.
(Apparently I am a "****" for asking him to stop stealing other peoples roms?)
=========================================
And Here is the "warning" from af.com

Andrizoid, I know you could care less. But you need to stop misleading people like you do. In the beginning, I tried to help you, a lot. But now I regret it. You just cant get it through your head. STOP WALKING ALL OVER PEOPLE!
And now that I've learned that you are taking all of the donations, and not splitting them with darch (who really made the rom FOR YOU!), well... You're an even bigger jerk than I ever imagined. You've outdone yourself buddy. Bravo.
Have you noticed the Devs aren't too willing to give you help when you ask? Well these are the reasons why!
To the people running WW
-Stop donating to Andrizoid, he didn't do the dev work for it, and yet he STILL enjoys taking the credit.
-Go support a dev that does do the work themselves. You will get better roms, and better support with questions.

Because after the whole Froyo thing, people disliked him a bit.
So he didn't want to release it, being scared the whole thread would be full of "you're a troll". He is on our side now and most of us accept him in our community now thanks to how much he has helped
Haters make me famous
you all certainly put a lot of effort into making me look bad.
ee2 i did edit. and i apologized afterwards.
i did not post the edited senseable, i pmed jamezelle with the files for him to decide what to do with
whitewidow is a port done by darchstar, as i said many times in the post. the kernel is from kaos, the same kernel you are using.
i have been asking for help so I could do the work, ask around, i repeatedly told socalspecialist that i wanted to learn how to do the things he was helping me with.
i came to the irc to get HELP, not a fix. then i realized your a jackass and left, got it partially worked out on my own.
i wasnt complaining that life was hard and i need all the donations i can get lmfao
i have never asked for donations, but the link is there if they want to help out.
the google apps thing was pointed out to me by darchstar, ill be addressing it in the next release.
sorry you rambled on so much i forgot the rest
yes! darchstar didnt want to release it. for that reason he told me to release it with me name on it. thank you for backing me up on the framework.
5 dollar donation!
you guys really are making me famous.
darchstar would you like you split?

You did NOT apologize, you rudely posted things in reply to me.
You were ABOUT to release the as2d modification had jamezelle not said anything. You shouldn't release a rom if you don't know what you're doing AND Socal shouldn't have to write up something because you're to lazy to find it on google. You claim that Darch made the initial port and from there you made may changes, so that technically you could basically claim it as your own.Sorry doesn't work that way, you barely changed anything, congrats you can change a boot and add some apps, are you proud?
You can say whatever you'd like , but most things you type around here are huge lies.
Then Darch should absolutely release it. I have been trying his ROM out for the last day or so, completely under the assumption that this was his work for the most part and that he was updating to fix the bugs. This is very disappointing. I was hours away from giving a donation to Andrizoid for the work. I would much rather give my money (of which there isn't a ton of nowadays) to Darch just as I know when I give to Frame he appreciates it and is continually working to better his ROM's. If this is true and can be verified then he should be shut down now before he profits one more penny fraudulently. I would like to say he should weigh in here but the testimonials seem pretty overwhelming from pretty well respected devs.

I give up on you. Don't ever PM me again.
*Washes hands*
I think thats quite enough, this isnt going anywhere.
Flaming and bashing isn't tolerated, neither is fighting. I think the point about this individual has been made and we will leave it at that.
I have gotten multiple requests from a few devs in the past week, including myn to delete links to their mirrors posted by users. Today, I had to delete a full thread about these. Stop posting links to said nighties. Devs will release the rom when it is ready to be called "beta". The reason they have not opened a new thread about this is because some people perceive the threads like this as "feelers" or with the sole purpose to draw donations, which is by no means the intention of the devs.
This is a final warning about this.
Right on man the devs work there ass off and are always working on something new and fixing problems sucks when people on here jack there links and post them all over here and then take credit for it Happy you did something about it.
It is crap that people feel the need to do things like that. Personally, I don't mess with "nightlies" unless it says AOSP. Stoked about Myn's next release though.
I agree 100%. Glad to see swift action from the XDA Admins / Mods.
Question - Should all links of the new ROMs be off limits, including changelogs and such? For instance, I noticed a link in the Warm 2.2 thread for the changelog for Myn's Synergy ROM.

Changelogs for this rom can also be found in infectedrom as well afaik. If the link to the changelog has any way to link back to a mirror or a link to obtain the rom, then I would say it should be off limits. Please link me to the post in question if you can (myn's 2.2 thread is only a gazillion pages long and I don't have all eternity to look for it )
ehh, I think the issues is people don't understand that these rom's are for the experienced user. The Synergy is not released publicly yet because their is a risk some idiot will bork, brick, ruin their phone. also if you want it so badly go to the irc channel that's your best bet for getting the latest and most proper version some user's could think they're fixing something and share it on the forum and next thing you know 20+ dead device's

great point man.
Although I agree with their general intentions, some developers have not been acknowledging or giving access to the nightly builds even for those who have donated. It's been almost a week since I donated to a developer and have yet to even get an acknowledgement, let alone access to any nighties, and I've seen posts from others who are in the same situation. I know donating does not automatically grant access to the nighties, but I think the developers should also be more forthcoming to those who donated to them.

My point exactly. You don't donate to a dev and get automatic access to nighties. You donate because you feel like giving someone something for their hard work and should expect nothing in return. If the dev so happens to grant access in lieu of donations so be it, all the better for you. However, if a dev did post something along the lines of "donators will receive access to nightly builds and early releases", then that is where we would have to step in, as that is considered selling "money for a good or service". Sorry but if you donated, you donated and that is the end of it.

I think we need more moderator here in the EVO 4G Forum area, because every single Development thread, you can only see people *****ing about the same thing that is already posted, PEOPLE here Don't READ even when your are installing something in your phone that can Break it. ( If you go to a Leak ROM thread, it is clear that you cannot install thoose type of ROMs, and people always are asking that they are having issues installing the ROM, LOL)
If you go to General you can see like 10 thread of the Same Thing, In the Evo 3d Area you can see like 8 topics of Release date, 4 of Root, etc, etc.
My opinion is that we need more moderators in the Forum, The XDA community everyday is becoming bigger, so you need to take that in mind.

If you've made it a rule to close threads involving the posting of links to nightlies at least somewhere on the site there could be link to the rom!

Hello all,
Many of you know me from around the boards here and I have tried to help most of you at one time or another. Well, as you can see from both my avatar and my signature, I have a new title and a new device. The TMobile BOGO SGS3 and SGS2 was too sweet of a deal and the family CFO, pulled the trigger (fyi, the CFO is NOT me )
With that being said, I will probably be limiting my time in the Vibrant fora for the near future. I still don't know what devices I will be allocated as I just received notice yesterday. Between mine and my wife's phones and tablets and the devices I will be assigned to, I will be stretched thin at first.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone in here that has helped me. I was a new user once too and fortunately someone was there to help me. That has always been my philosophy. They helped me when I was panicking, so the least I can do is help someone else when they are panicking. After all these are expensive little toys we have here, eh? If you check eBay's Vibrant listings, there are very reasonably priced, which means that there will be an influx of new users soon enough with their questions, bootloops and PC connectivity issues. Please try to help them as much as you have helped me.
**********************
With that being said, I am going to post a thread probably this weekend or next with some of the older harder to find files hosted in my Dev-Host account. They will be in there for as long as I have the internet (meaning there is no expiration and the files won't get stale and deleted). I am not going to put any ICS/JB ROMs in there bc they are all still fresh and new, so they should be readily available. Same with ICS/JB kernels
What I need is some of the older files that were either hosted on Multi or Mega that are gone. Below is a list of what I have already. If you can, please PM me a link to any files that you might think would be worthwhile to put on there. This will not be a BIBLE and shouldn't be used as a Q&A, hence the Repository Title.
Files I have:
Stock 2.1 JFD (Pit/Tar files)
Eugene's Froyo that Does Not Brick
Bootloaders:
Froyo Bootloaders
Gingerbread Bootloaders (I have all three)
2.1 JFD with GB bootloaders already injected.
Odin/ Heimdall/ AIO Toolbox:
4 different versions of Odin
2 Versions of Heimdall
AIO Toolbox
Themes:
Almost all 2.2/2.2.1 themes
Bootanimations:
About 20 Boot Animations
ROMs:
Zendroid
Toxic8 (Original and not Fish's mod)
Deranged9 (Original and not Fish's mod)
Bionix (Original and not Fish's mod)
CM7.1 Stable
Kernels:
All 2.2/2.2.1
All 2.3.x
****************
This list is just off memory, but if there is something that you like or need, either send me a PM to include it or send me a link with it included so I can download and then upload to my Dev-Host acct.
Be easy my friends and I will still be lurking. And if for some reason they decide to give me the Vibrant threads with OKA1, I will still be putting this repository together.
Hey Woodrube,
You've been of much assistance in the Vibrant forums as well as other forums. We worked on that petition together and unfortunately, that didn't go too well. You've helped a lot of people across the forums and you deserve a new device! Have fun with it and thanks for taking the time to write guides and post useful information. Frankly, I like my Vibrant better than my Nexus S so I'll prolly stick around for a while, so, if anything, I can take over your threads if you don't have time. I don't mind helping at all and we share the same philosophy.
"I was a new user once too and fortunately someone was there to help me. That has always been my philosophy. They helped me when I was panicking, so the least I can do is help someone else when they are panicking."
It's sad to see you go, but you deserve a new toy to play with, so have fun with it!
Maybe you can PM me the new thread layout you were going to make so I can post it up (That way I can edit it and add files, etc. as I have files downloaded as well.) Of course, credit will be given where credit is deserved.
And once again, thank you for everything you've done in the Vibrant community!
Ya, that petition didn't pan out too well, got me an infraction too, but it is still active believe it or not. Last post wasn't too far off. Was a very passionaite plea and the 4 of us did our best. I actually used it as a reference with my RC application.
As far as the Repo thread, I'll still post it up and put the files in there. The reason for it is because there are soo many files out there that are needed and lost or just plain don't download anymore. When I got the RC, they gave me 40gb for free with unlimited up/downloads and no expiration date. So that isn't too bad a deal. Like I said, I still don't know what devices they will assign me too but I'll still be around, just sparingly.
Thanks for the kind words too.

@Woodman ...
You know my story already esp. how our "discussions" in your infamous ICS guide was monumental in building my confidence to make the jump ... into frenzied flashing fever. The journey's been all-good ever since (regardless of EU and the quirky hiccups along the way).
I had lurked for a very long time before even signing up for an account and then even posting a comment or question - ie. leary (& even already tired then) of the discouraging short-fused quips many-a-n00b had faced.
All it took was the patient demeanor and sage guidance of one person (el Wood Meistro) to change my perspective. You set the standard for being a class act, my friend.
I must say I've been impressed with the new stock of Vibrant regulars lately, and your empathetic philosophy definitely lives on through them. Wherever you end up, we'll all look forward to hitting that Thanks button on your future posts to come.
( In the meantime, I'll still see ya in our favorite watering hole ... )
I am one of the new vibrants users WoodRube has helped. I would like to say thank you once again for the help that you provided to this newb. Im sure there are many many more here that you have helped previously, and for that I say thank you. May you enjoy you're new direction to the fullest.
Hey woody, which device is yours and which is the CFO's?

Ha!! I love my wife but what do you think? She loves her GS2 now though.
I've got SGS3 w/JB leak, SGS2 w/ lighting fast ICS (compared to her last phone), my Transformer w/ICS or JB depending on my mood, her Nook Color with CM7.2 on it, maintaining my BIL's DroidX (due for upgrade) and last night my FIL asked me to set him up with a phone & tablet. Thank God my other in-laws are iOS fanboys/girls.
Id like to thank the D-bags for stressing Ax out!!!......Bravo[emoji19]
Seriously though why can't people just try and help themselves. I hardly post cause I hate being that guy. I don't even know how XDA could help the newbs but I totally understand how ax feels. It sucks cause I bet you people will not even take the time to read that post of his and then ask some dumbass question or complain.
Wow I just noticed he had the thread closed. Man come on people wtf!! He totally gave everyone a chance to back off and I'm sure more than half of the people here didn't even know
Been around a longtime. Unfortunately this isnt anything new. Im old, but Ax is older. We came from a generation taught to respect others. Thats long gone. Next time your out in public, look around at the people around you. Those younger folks are the future. Its a damn shame that respect means nothing anymore. Ax does fantastic work, he doesnt deserve to be treated like that. Those complaining had no business even flashing. They werent smart enough to follow instructions. +1000 for Ax

This is unfortunately what XDA has become. You either accept it or you don't because I don't see it changing any time soon. Continuing to open and close a thread because it's not going how you expect it to, I don't feel is the answer. You either do it because of your love for Android development and for the users that support your work and ignore lazy people. Or you just don't do it. Just my 2 cents.
So I have an idea. We have a great noodles friendly thread already open. Maybe we should just post a link to that thread as a response to every question that obviously should not be in a development thread.
I am just having a hard time believing there are that many incompetent people out there now that can't Google and find the answer for themselves.
Or maybe XDA needs to make it so the owner of the thread can pick who is allowed to post in it. Or allow people to down vote posts and if you get too many down votes you get blocked from the thread.
Just think something needs to change XDA used to be so peaceful and cooperative now I have to scan through 10 pages of arguing of flaming before I find any useful information.

It would be great on these beta roms if you had to be an advanced user with so many thanks/posts to even be able to download the rom. Way too many users have no idea what they are doing and refuse to try and learn. There were countless helpful posts and instructions in the op that were easy to follow. Im still running the US version with no issues.

Nothing that you guys will change em.. They have all been spoon def and people keep feeding. Helping is one thing and doing it for them is another. Feel sorry for the guys that did come here and glad that one of my friends didn't get this phone.. It is what it is and u till we all start letting them fend for thenselfs nothing will ever change. Look at how many lollipop is coming threads they have and still opening. It sad. Looking forward to be change.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
No one. I repeat no one should bug the devs. I'll come and see you.
But, isn't it a compliment when people are interested in your work and posting in your threads and pm'ing you at all hours?
How could you be glad people aren't here?
We have the only cool rootable and customizable phone.
You think the s6 will have this many devs?
Do you even flash roms?
Aren't you Mr. Stock rooted?
I think what really started the whole "do everything for me movement" was when a lot of stuff, like root tools became automated. When I first joined XDA, to even root your phone you had to know how to use a command prompt and ADB. If not, you were screwed. So it gave you the incentive to read and try to learn all you could. If you got stuck at a certain part there would always be someone willing to help you get through it but it was mainly up to you. Now, there isn't a whole lot that isn't automated. So new people get use to having everything done for them so there really is no incentive to learn. Then if something is not fully automated and you have to read or think a little bit people get lazy and would rather it be done for them. Actually it's not just XDA, it's pretty much our society in general. Myself, I loved trying to figure out how to do things and became somewhat addicted to it. Now had everything been automated when I first got into Android, who knows, I may be the same way.

Exactly. But it made you better
I love the vision roms.
Definitely flashed them on a lot of phones.
But, wouldn't a simple Q&A thread in Q&A like every other rom have prevented this drama?
Then people that like helping could help the noobs.
And, people that don't like spreading the android wealth could f### off.
Cant we just get along.
Even this thread is starting to bash each other about how they should run their thread or rom post. Everyone does things diffrent, and that does not mean they are wrong. We just need to respect each other and give thanks to everyone who develops-themes-assists in making these roms. Alot of time and trial and error goes into making these great roms, themes, and add-ons. All roms have their problems and all dev work hard to fix the issues and to bring you a working rom. If you want to vent then you get on the phone with ATT, Verizon, Sprint, TMO and complain to them. They are the ones that make this difficult not the developers.
It is very simple to post a question, or about an issue you are having,
1. read thru the posts to see if anyone else posted about the same problem you are having.
2. read to see if a fix has been posted about the issue you are having.
3. use the xda forum search and or use google to search your issue.
4. if you did all the above, then post your question or issue you are having, with a detail description of what you did to cause the problem, and lastly post a logcat of your issue.
5. then wait patiently for the dev or one of folks that are working on the rom to post a reply.
6. when your problem is fixed. then thank that person/s for their help.
7 Simple, it doesnt get any easier than that.
Alot of issues that most user have are created by themselves, by choosing not to read the directions, post throughly before flashing the item to their phones
Sorry i just had to vent.
Remember PLEASE and THANK YOU will get more help, than saying hey you need to help me out now.
Rooting and unlocking phones has come along way from back in the tmobile g1 days. These Samsung phones are stupidly easy to root and are already unlocked. I too remember the better years of XDA of educating yourself first by reading and then if you run into a problem asking for help.

sad to see him go, but i agree we should only have advance users post or even have access to certain threads...like a test of some sort, on basic andriod knowledge, with just enough time to google answers lol
He's closed those threads a lot and reopened them. Let's just hope he opens them again instead of having a debate.

Lol! If that's the case then maybe he just needs a break. Not really sure what the need is for drama. You can't let annoying people and newbs drive you crazy. I've been around xda for almost 9 years now and have seen many devs come and go. As great as devs are to xda, they need to remember this is just a hobby and the contributions here shouldn't be stressful. If it is... Then it's time for a break. Simple as that. There will always be irritating folks who want hand holding past the point of what is reasonable. Just ignore them after pointing in the correct direction if they continue. I'm not saying don't help. Helping others is everyones role here. You can't let the one's that take advantage of your help to abuse you or your generosity. There is a fine line and a lot of grey area in these regards but it obviously depends on the particular situation. My point is... this should be fun. If it isn't anymore then it's time to step back for a while.

The problem is that the noobs who create these types of situations are the same ones who would NEVER use a Q&A thread. 99% of what they need to know can come from using the thread search tool, yet they refuse to do that. Believe me, I'm sure that what made it into the threads from these isn't half as bad as some of the stuff he's getting in PMs. I did same thing Ax did and walked away, as I would get PM after PM demanding help, complaining about known issues that were being fixed, demanding ETAs, etc. This is supposed to be FUN. Sad fact is that the noobs don't understand that NONE of the devs here on XDA or anywhere else HAVE TO release their work. They could post screenshots of it and nothing else if they chose to.

What?? You mean posts like "My phone doesn't has data. how to flash?" aren't helpful? LOL
I agree 100%. Problem is that as I've noticed in life, the smart/hard-working are being outnumbered by the stupid/ignorant/lazy They be multiplying like rabbits.
These are really not the types of threads conducive to a development environment
This is basically a whining about the whiners thread
Developers who have lives and do this for a hobby, some times take on too much trying to please everyone....and forget to please themselves
And yes, members can be demanding, unfairly. This is where the other members of the thread should help out and politely guide and answer those members...taking the pressure off the developer. Official ROM Q&A threads are a great help.
But let Ax take a rest and come back even stronger than before...you are putting the same pressures on him with threads like this, though your intentions are good.
Thanks
Kenny
