Do u guys have the same issue?
Once the microusb is plugged in, it's really tight and uncommonly hard to pull out.
Having carefully examined the microusb, I noticed there is a pair of pins which seem to PREVENT retracting or being pulled out. They work like a heart valve that prevent backflow of blood.
If this is how it works, doesn't it cause damage to both the slot and usb head every time you pull it out?
Please helppppp.

If it's too hard to pull out then the fix would be to start lifting weights.
immature reply: thats what she said
the tighter the usb the better imo, i like to know its in there
That's why I do pull out so no damage is done

microusb saved my evo. Baby pulled the cord that was on the counter a few inches from the edge, evo fell 4 inches from the floor and the usb cord stayed in the wall and saved my evo from certain death.

I've found that the most effective way to unplug the micro usb cable, is to to firmly hold the PC USB end in your hand, and then swing it above your head like a cowboys lasso until the micro usb end is completely out of the phone.
Lol

Wow, thank god that it holds tight in that usb slot
But Honestly, if it is way too tight, where it is different than other evo's, Then you might have to push the little "heart valve" in so it wont grab the usb so tight.

So I went through 3 TFs. The first two had massive light bleeding, but Asus's tech support here in Taiwan did a pretty good job at keeping me informed about return times. Took about 4 weeks to get a tablet that I was actually happy with.
Love the one I got now. Only problem. I went to unplug the usb from the charger so that I could transfer files, and the plastic in the charger head that only allows you to put the usb cable in one way completely pulled out and disintegrated.
Luckily they managed to send me two charging cables when they sent me my last replacement.
Anyone else had this problem?
Faulty model of the charger?

"Disintegrates" as in is easy to lose? haha. Unless I'm mistaken what you're talking about, the little piece inside of the USB head is plastic, which takes 100s if not 1000s of years to disintegrate. I'd look again / check the floor.

Ha! Actually that's a bit of an exagerration. What happened is when i pulled the usb cable out of the charger it pulled up the plastic with it. As soon as the plastic pulled out, it broke into about 10+ pieces.

Anyway, I still have not experience any defects with both my transformer and charger.
I have seen a few posts on here about a dead battery while stuck soft bricked so the phone won't take a flash, do this at your own risk but if you take a standard USB cable and leave the end to plug in the computer and cut off the other side you will have 4 wires only worry about the red and the black tape the others off just strip the insulation off the red and tape to the connection on the battery labeled plus and strip the black back and tape to negative and then plug in the USB side into a PC, after about 10 minutes you will have enough to flash, be carfull and watch that the battery is not getting hot. Sorry for all the typos and poor grammar its late and I'm posting from my phone

Moved to correct forum.
Sorry about the wrong forum section. Just to add you don't want to do this too long as the voltage is probably not regulated properly for the battery so its not good for it but it will get you out of a brick in a pinch.

I ran into this issue on the Motorola Photon 4g. I've followed your directions, but I am not sure it is charging. After about 20 minutes, I placed the battery back in the phone and it still said battery was too low to flash. So I've stripped the red and black shielding to expose the copper and I'm trying direct contact into the battery + and - slots now. Do you have any suggestions?

Did you honestly try charging through the wire insulation? Electricity travels through the copper wire, not the protective insulation. Also the power flow is regulated before reaching the USB cord, proof is in taking your wall AC charger usb and plugging it into a computer, you get different voltage outputs (meaning it takes longer to charge on comp USB).

It seems to be working now that the copper is directly hitting the battery. Thanks for your confirmation ;p. It's charging on the USB AC wall charger now. Is it preferred to be done through the computer USB to regulate the voltage?
It worked! I'm back in business now! Thanks for all the help
Does it have to be an Atrix 4G or can I follow this method for a Galaxy Note. Also can you use any usb cable... (eg. usb to micro-usb, usb to mini usb)?

i would think you can use it for any battery, just make sure you have the red on the + terminal and the black on the - terminal of the battery... just like charging a car battery, just on a smaller scale!
totally not worth cutting up a cable to do this by a universal battery charger from amazon.com for a penny +5.00 shipping
thats a total of 5.01 thats less than the cost of your usb cable

Sorry I did not realize this thread was still getting views, it does work for every battery i have tried it for so far, I would not cut up a cable for no reason but if you brick it at midnight and don't wanna wait for shipping from amazon it will get you running again, besides I am sure most of us on here have plenty micro sd cables around. I have used this on my droid bionic with success recently.
My HD2 USB socket is buggered, it won't charge unless I get the cable in at a certain angle. It's definitely not the cable which is dodgy, I've used three different ones and they all have the same result. This means I can't sync Android with my laptop.
Any way I can disassemble my phone to repair or replace the USB socket? Any guides out there? Thanks.
I googled repair HTC HD2 charge port
And got pages of stuff
Same to me. What's happened is the port has come away from the main board. Just needs soldering.
I don't use usb to sync so I bought a mains battery adaptor for charge.

Just needs soldering! I'm afraid for the average joe trying to solder the micro usb connector pins back onto the pcb is no easy task. My reccomendation would to leave solder out of it, you'll likely short something or get solder spashes all over the place.
Get the finest soldering iron tip you can, a magnifying glass and just press the pins back onto the pcb pads.
TO be honest this is very poor design by htc, that socket should have been reinforced, using solder to hold sockets down is just terrible cheap design.

Agreed, absolutely POS design. I had my HD2 less than a month and my usb broke.
I didn't have the guts to try and re-solder it, so I got me an external charger, spare battery, and started using things like dropbox, email attachments, and micro-sd to standard size sd-adapter more.
I never had any problems with the mini-usb's, but it seems the micro's are alot more delicate

Technicaly the mini has a much lower mtbf. the micro issue is that folks try to put in in the wrong way up as its harder to see, so spend effort pushing the socket off not connecting to it
I have dropped a red blob of paint onto mine and now the problem has gone.
The Mini was a far better connector. Easier connection, stronger, more pins & already in huge use. introducing & standardising to the micro was madness !
Yeah, I use an external charger and unplug my battery to charge it, but it's really not very practical. I was using an app called 'Sleep as an droid' which is a great alarm clock app but I can't use it any more because my phone just runs out overnight
I might give it a go, but I really don't want to damage my phone any more

There is a store in south Wales that will soldier it back for about £20 thy google
I got a spare battery and an external charger. I just swap out the battery once it is empty for the spare which is fully charged in about 1-1.5 hrs.
I also use a card reader for large file transfers and samba for smaller ones.
Fortunately, when the port died, I had a 420MB partition. So I can still flash most android Roms.
If any of you know anyone who fixes the HD2 in India, please let me know.

same issue ... this micro USB is not working anymore.
I have two batteries and an external charger.
I do not understand your last point: how do you flash without USB ?
atomebr
Transfer ROM to sd card, flash using cwm.

My KF has a hard time charging as the port has a loose fit on the charger adapter. I have to wiggle it just right for the charge indicator to come on. I'd like to remove the back so I can see why the charger plug does'nt fir right. Anyone have thier back off ? Thanks..
Nope. Sorry. Flashing a new ROM on it is one thing... but I find that when I take things apart and put them back together again I either have left over pieces or broken pieces.
I have seen a video of someone deconstructing the kindle fire with a seemingly universal tool for dealing with clips on youtube, you might want to search for it.
For what it's worth, my usb cable is loose while my power cable isn't. Not sure I like the micro-usb standard... seems a little flimsy.

I know you probably don't want to hear this, but I'd send it back for and get it replaced. Taking off the back will almost definitely void your warranty, and unless you are REALLY good with a soldering iron, you probably won't be able to fix it.
I was having the same problem and thought it was the port but it's actually the cables. The prongs on the micro-USB cables that secure it in the port are rooted in the base of the plug. Bending the metal plug back to its original flat position will put the prongs in a more exposed position providing a more secure fit. Bending it past horizontal will expose them even more. I found that an up angle micro-USB cable fits in in an orientation that causes less stress on the plug and prevents this problem from reoccurring.

You,Sir, are a genius ... thank you sooooo much,,
OK guys, I've waited a while to finally post this but I'm about to toss this device.
So for the past few months USB charging cables no longer stick into the charging port. When you first get the device you could practically flail the phone around by the USB cord. However, now they are so lose I have to tape the cord to the phone to maybe get it just right and charge. The USB slot is looser than a two dollar whore now.
It first started with the factory charger (which died) and never got a replacement (thanks moto)! So got another 3rd party charger and that cable was better but still not tight. Now no cable will stick and is a sloppy mess.
I'm assuming this is going to require a RMA and replacement? Would this even be covered, and considering the RMA for my stock charger months later resulted in no new charger it's worrying too attempt a phone RMA. Let alone the short lifespan of the port. I only plug in ever 1-2 days by the way.
Anyone else having this issue and if so what did you do?

Out of all of my devices, I've only had one port fail, on a tablet, that I believe someone sat on while it was plugged in. But, on all of my devices, I plug them in and leave the device alone. Are you tossing your device around while it's plugged in, or sleeping next to it while it's plugged it? I know parts fail, but the stock charger clips in snugly on my moto daily, and on my tablet every 3rd day, and I have zero issues. Even my cheap cables and car charger plugs snugly. Maybe you just got a faulty part.

Take a look at the two spring loaded prongs on your cable. Are they still pointy and extended? Usually when this happens I notice my prongs have noticeable wear on them
Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
No, I don't use my phone and cable as a mace or as a personal defense weapon when I play superhero on the weekend However it does have it's home on the nightstand next to the bed with one of my tablets. I haven't dropped or sat on the device whilst plugged in, I have done this with previous phones where it bends the metal on the USB cable but even then hasn't caused a loose port on those devices.
One of the cables indeed has worn down prongs to my surprise for being new, so I looked through my drawers of cables and found one with nice shiney new prongs. This does make locking in place more efficient in my case but not like it was new. You can still fairly easily loose connection moving the device around while plugged in but not instant disconnect from gravity like the stock charger or the other cables.
I would check the charging port for lint. This can cause a cable not to stay in. Simply take a piece of tape and roll it back onto itself with the sticky side out making sure it's the right side to fit in the port. I've done this with several devices and it makes a big difference.
