unable to start wifi - EVO 4G General

Hello everyone,
I have been playing with my evo for the last 3 weeks and I love this phone.
However, earlier this week there was an automatic update on the phone and I realized that when I tried to connect to my wifi it would say "unable to start wifi". I cannot scan the network (grayed out) or anything.
Any thoughts.
Thank you.
Nim

Yup - this is an issue
I have this same problem...started the same time!
If anyone has an idea as to what to do to resolve this, I'm open to suggestions. I noticed this issue a couple of days ago when I had an update pushed to me phone.
Would love to see this problem with the WIFI radio resolved...

It's called return your phone. That update bricked my radios too, WiFi, 4G and Hotspot. Wifi had the same error and the 4G said "Failed". Sprint gave me a brand new one and no problems.

If it's rooted and was working before the update you can delete the following file
Code:
/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
It worked for me.

brick?
Noooooo. Really? Darn.. I have a lot installed already. errrr. Thanks guys..

problem with WIFI on TYTN

hello Everyone, i'm new around here, but still i've got to benefit from all the information and knoledge poured on these pages for upgrading my TYTN to WM 6 (Schaps 3.54b) as well as adding the Hard-spl and upgrading the radio to 1.41
so, let's start from the begining. before doing the upgrade i was already having the problem with the WIFI, and that is that one day, it started searching for networks, but never found any, not even if i was 20 cm close to the Access Point. the problem persisted until i upgraded it to WM6, which was 2 days ago, and then miraculously it started working again, and detected my home's wireless network. but yesterday it begun to have the same problem again, searches for networks, but never finds any....
i really don't know what to do now... has nayone else had the same or a similar problem and found out a way to solve it? or does anyone know what might be causing the problem so that i can fix it?
thank you very much in advance for all the help that i'm sure you will all provide.
the problem has been solved, sorry to everyone if i made you loose some time reading this thread.
the thing is that i didn't look at all the options on the connectivity tab, and on schap's rom, there are 2 wifi icons, one for the settings, and another one to manage the networks, i didn't see this last one, but now after studying all the options, i've managed to set it up correctly and all is working fine now.
again, thank you very much, and sorry if i made you waste your time
to any mods out there who might be reading this, you can delete this topic.
thank you.

Phone keeps searching for connection

Hello all,
I have an HTC Touch on the Bell Mobility network. For the last few weeks it has been getting flaky connectivity and i assumed that was due to outages. This weekend it decided to stop getting any connection and keeps searching. I have tried unlocking and flashed to the NFSROM for windows 6.5 (hoping it was simply a software issue). This did not resolve the problem, and lastnight i happened to get about 2 minutes of connectivity.
any suggestions on tests i can do on the phone to determine the issue, Bells only response is to buy a new phone.
Thanks in advance.

Try to update your PRL as it may be completely different from the one you have.

WIFI only works with firmware 1.23

Hello people, I have a question: Does anyone know why or how WIFI works for me only with version 1.23. And not with 1.3x or 2.0X?

I guess even HTC does not know why WiFi sometimes stops working.
My Legend got the 1.3x update OTA without any problems. When later the 2.0x update was pushed my WiFi stopped working. It showed no MAC adress in the adapter infos.
I wrote a support request to HTC but did not get an answer for about 2 weeks or so.
I found the thread here on xda developers in which is explained how to downgrade your legend. I downgraded my phone, WiFi worked again. I installed the 2.0x update OTA again and this time WiFi worked.
A few days later I received an answer from HTC. Only boilerplate stuff, not helpful at all. Later I received a mail asking me to rate their service - they received the worst marks in this rating.
When I was on holiday last week I got a phone call from HTC. Too bad I was abroad and had to pay high roaming costs - so I kept it short. They asked me about my WiFi problem. I told them that they were of no help but I solved the problem on my own. They wanted to know how and I told them.
I am sure they have no idea what causes WiFi to stop working after an update. Seems like some randomness.

search the forum. its already there.. was answered a cpl of days ago
I searched ... there is no answer to my problem.... I'm not froyo yet. I used the RUU to update to 2.03xxxxx.
One problem I always had was the Regulatory Domain settings. After every restart or reset it was back to max 11 Wifi Channels, while my Router ran on 14.
The result was, that I couldn't find the Router (my own Wifi network) and it took me awhile to figure it out:
Wifi-Settings/Advanced/Regulatory Domain on an unbranded Legend from Singapore.
Don't know if that helps with your problem.
Thx for the reply. My problem was different... I couldn't detect ANY wifi networks.
But I fixed it .... After the RUU update my old saved wifi networks where still there, and when i removed them ... now everything is fine

Galaxy S8 WiFi issues after Oreo update

Hi,
I just received the Oreo update for my S8 and everything seemed fine from the start. It didnt take long though when
I noticed that the WiFi was acting weird. Even though I had great connection to my modem, my WiFi performance
was extremely poor. The two arrows beside the WiFi logo in the status bar only showed upload and no download when I
tried to open a website. I tried forgeting the network but it only seemed to work momentarily. So I rebooted my modem and
hoped that it would solve the problem. Rebooting the modem only worked momentarily too. I will be checking later if this issue
continues with other WiFi networks.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Same problem with My S8 after Oreo. Occasionally the !-mark next to wifi-symbol and the connecton is lost. By restarting the wifi-router or renewing the wifi connection from the phone fixes this for some time, until it happens again.
This fixed it for me
Mine was doing the same but noticed I could stay connected to a older router I use as an extender so changed my wifi security on my main router from wpa2-aes to the older wpa and it's been fine ever since stays connected on 2.4 and 5 now
Is there a fix for this yet? I just downloaded the newest update they rolled out today, 4/3/2018 and I still cannot send email if I am connected to my wifi. It tells me "couldn't send" and it sits there until I turn off my wifi and use my data. This is ridiculous. My wifi connection is fine. I should not have to turn off wifi every time I want to send an email. So frustrated. Why roll out another update so quickly if not to fix the issues the March update caused????
I am also a an S8 user and noticed my wifi dropping connections throughout the day and reconnecting. This has occurred ever since Oreo update. I have tried all the possible fixes and none of them seem to work. I have sent my phone to Samsung for a repair and they have useless approved centres that lie about fixing the phone. I have sent it back. Lets see what happens. Worst case scenario I will have to install Nougat as it was working fine on this version.
Same here ! =(
Same problem
Sporadic exclamation mark on the WiFi icon
and poor performance .
Opened another thread on too many open ports.
Used sockstat and too many ports are listening.
Me too
(ROM France : XEF)
Did you guys notice this after the Oreo update or on Nougat as well?
I’m having this problem since the Oreo update too. I have to turn the WiFi off and on several times a day to fix it. When attempting to use WiFi, no pages etc will load and then eventually a ! Symbol appears next to the WiFi icon. Only fix is to turn WiFi on and off. It’s very annoying!
Exact same issue. Started occurring right after oreo update
Have you guys complained to Samsung about this? as making noise to them will rectify your faults eventually.
Same here, WiFi unreliable since Oreo. I need to restart the network to make a WiFi call and that isn't always a reliable fix. I started a chat with T-Mob on FB and gave up. They're clueless. Samsung S8+
Hello same issu, I'm from France an online the forum in France an Germany many people have this problem.
I read somewhere to delete the wireless connection from your device and then re-add. I'm not ready to say it fixed things but the WiFi does seem more stable.
UPDATE - Sorry to say there are still issues. Oh well, it gave me hope for a brief moment!
Go to settings- General management- Reset- Reset network settings- Then confirm and restart the phone. After re add your wifi networks. That fixed it for me
Update: It turned out that it didn't work for me... it looks like i may have to try and factory reset as it feels like i have tried everything else :crying:

T-Mobile just had be clear the cache from the "boot level" menus. Let me see if that fixes anything before trying yet something further. THANKS!
PS - clearing the cache did fix the problem I was having with the TX Lottery app. After the OREO update it would no longer scan the ticket barcodes. It's working again!
