June 19th info!

Just in case you really need to know. June 19th is when tmo anounces the slide through commercials and they r having a father's day special event they r going to announce too. Not as big a deal as everyone thinks.

So why are they opening 2 hours early,and where the heck is my froyo,tmo rep told mewe'de have it on launch,I need apps2sd,my phone is outta storage,i'm going to curse someone at tmobile out.htc and google should have never let tmobile have any say in this device cause they oveloaded it with bull**** you cant delete,im so friggin angry,I just want control over my phone and nobody can even root it,AGGGHHHHH!!! Sorry just had to get that out.

I think you've let it out in everyone of your post in the Slide section.. I'm sure your 14 day return period isn't up. RETURN IT.

A friend of mine who works for TMO told me that they are rolling out a new store design. They've had several of the concept stores open in certain test markets for almost 3 years. I worked for them when they were planning these interactive and user friendly stores with video tech support on site.
While I think it's cool and all, I'm more interested in them improving network service and offering phones that aren't outdated the moment you slip your SIM in.

all i have to say that is if a Tmo rep told you froyo would be ready when the phone comes out, promptly insert your foot in his a** with EXTREME prejudice!!

Dispite contrary belief, not all T-Mo reps know every single thing that T-mobile is up to. Some of us actualy have a life outside of work. Also, we are not all out to give everyone the shaft. Some of us realy try to help people the best we can. I get chewed out quiet often for going "too far".

As donepate stated, you are speaking to another human, NOT T-mobile as an object. If that rep heard a rumor online he could have easily passed it along to you. Thats why unless there is OFFICIAL news from T-mobile you should always take information about upcoming releases of updates/phones with a grain of salt. Typically T-mobile employees know about the official launches barely before they launch to avoid any leaked information and or upsets if deadlines aren't met.
If you've read the official HTC comments however you will know that its stated to have FROYO within a number of 2010 Android phones within the year of 2010. That is as specific as it gets however.

never listen to t-mobile reps they no nothing

Official release date for the slide is the 16th. They have not even told the reps much. It could be lower prices for a day, a giveaway in the stores, or the planets may be comming into alignment. Its all guesses for now. I am fairley sure that its slide related in some way though. Just have no idea what it is. If I get any info i'll pass it along.

it is a big deal and it has nothing to do with the slide per se on june 19th we are having free phone day which means you can choose any phone in the store including smart phones for free with new contract or line extension.

I believe the buyers remorse period will still be 14 days. That's what I am getting.

I keep reading "Official" release date is the 19th, but I simply walked up to my local store and bought it last week... are you using the term "officially" as a moment to define when they'll "advertise" it...?

They have a soft launch (June 2nd) and a hard launch which, shown to me on the computer from a t-mobile rep, is the 16th not 19th

They are going to announce the Galaxy S on the 19th. The Galaxy S will go on sale sometime in July ... just got that from a VERY reliable Tmobile source. I'm probably going to be sending the slide back ... my G1 will tide me over till the Galaxy comes around.

DONT change your mind i have had some phones in my time and this blows them all away

i've also been waiting patiently.. so tempted to get either a N1 or desire... but i know I want a bigger screen having used HD2 till recently, don't think I could go back to anything less than 4"..
btw, when it's released in US will it be available at other places around the world? os is 14~15th the release date for US only?
I am hoping I could grab it for cheaper than what it is now from UK or something..

I did read France are having about the same time as the us,I'm sure it wont be long before its all over the place

ordered mine yesterday from Dell UK got fone call from dell today confirming the order and say the carrier will fone me about delivery.
bit over the top really normally u just buy something online and they deliver it whenever
still LOOKING FORWARD to it , my birthday next monday and work bonus on Thursday

reckon it will be $500 USD around the world? UK prices are a little bit more than that at the moment..
doesn't dell streak support 850 as well as 900? so no need for two variations right? wonder why it's taking so long for them to release globally..
this is slightly off, but does anyone know if DELL have international warranty??? clearly I will be buying from US or europe but will be using in ASIA and Australia.. wonder if they have any policies regarding international warranty..

Been told to expect delivery on or before the 19th july so approx 8 days

I really would like to get my hands on this device. I know that with samsung releasing their Galaxy series this week going to be next week before the Streak announcment can be made. The only thing I can possibly thing of is they want to get the streak on 2.2 before releasing it in US? What do you guys think?

UK Launch Date 1st May

According to techradar the UK launch date is now officially 1st May. They don't say the source other than

Where Samsung announced it I dont know, twitter? There isn't even an S2 page on the Samsung UK website that I can find.
But good to know that this phone isn't far away. Cant imagine other country release dates will be too far away.
This ties in with the email Clove sent a member, so preorders wont be sent till the 3rd, but should be available in stores over the May Day bank holiday period.

The post also confirms HSDPA+ usage for the UK at "upto" 21mbps. First phone to offer this in the UK, surprised it isn't making the UK headlines more.

Well, I didnt think most people would look in a 30 page thread that was started by trolls. As you were posting I found the engadget link.
But most interesting is 21mbps internet. Will all carriers other than 3 revert back to existing plans of more than 500mb internet? Otherwise lets pray 3 get it on may 1st.

Why would Samsing 'ship' on a Sunday?
If you ask me, they'll be shipping the week before, ready for the retail release on the Sunday, and, as with most bank holidays, there will be plenty of people out shopping.

if you looked at the time and date you will find this is the first of the two posts. and bann this user? really?

ill be visiting the carphone warehouse near the time to see if they will have stock in on the 3rd.

Hopefully there will be a small proce drop as there will be the launch of the sensation too.

On relation to the topic. Yeh the proximity of the release of the Sensation may cause price plans to be reavaluated, especially as they are phones being released around the time of an uprgrade for HTC Hero/Desire users. Think I may take a trip to town just to admire lustfully at the screen and to count down the hours till my contract ends.
As Sensation has been I think said to be priced similarly to the DHD, will the S2 be similar to the S1 when it was launched?

Has anyone been on the phone to the carriers yet specifically Orange? My contract is up at the moment and I am just on a rolling 30 day contract whilst waiting for this. When i phoned them up last week the guy didn't have a notion about the SGS2 so just wanted to check on here before phoning back again.

Im questioning this, but i thought i would share what i just chatted about with a local p4u shop.
short story: Was told it might be able to buy as early as the 1st of March.
long story:
I went in to ask if i could pre order to pick up from store (i knew i couldnt but i was hoping they would hold one
for me or something like that )
Guy said let me just check when there coming in, he mentioned he was getting a single unit delivered today
and i was free to come back and play with it. Obviously i said yes to this as only one ive played with has been in a big
metal shell. So im waiting on a phone call for that.
But he seemed to think i would be able to buy the phone from this Friday (1st march). He did mention that he wasnt 100% sure on this
and did say dont pre order it online as it takes 4 days to process it and you wont get it before, so it could be a ploy to get me to wait
til its in to buy it from them.
This is only a tiny local p4u shop so the fact its getting a unit delivered today would suggest that they have a fair few in. So mabye they
are giving a few out before hand to those special customers (i wish)
The fact they all knew what the HTC one is shocked me, ive been in phone stores when a new phone has just been released and they
dont even know what its called!
I dont want to say the local store name as they did ask me not to tell anyone i would get to play with one.
Any opinions/thoughts?
Personally I think they are getting Fridays mixed up, but a man can dream.
If i get hands on it i will try and get a few photos/video if they let me.

SFR (french mobile operator) announced it yesterday on their website dedicated to android.
You can take a loot at it : android[dot]sfr[dot]fr/htc-one-chez-sfr/ (french) (I can't write a link because i'm a new account :/ )

Very interesting if that is the case I will cancel my preorder and just get one in store instead in a week or so.

Maybe HTC have decided to pull the release date up so they can trump the Samsung attempt at trumping them ...
but SFR are really only declaring that they'll have it available "first on their web site on March 5th" and then 'progressively' to all their shops ... so it could be an earlier release is imminent, or it might just be a marketing ploy by SFR to get in front of the other French providers by making it look as though they will get it out sooner. We all know about mail order and delivery delays eh ???

P4U in the Bull Ring centre have had a unit to play with for a few days..........shops with demo units.
I've been trying to find other places to play with the One but no one else seems to have found anywhere.

yer i know i was one that told people. Problem is the one is in a big case that you cant move, i.e. you dont get a feel for the phone
the design and cant use either of the camera's.

IMO when they say 5th of march it only say available on the website from the 5th of march to pre order it and not to buy it.

I don't know, SFR has often some exclusiveness (nexus 4, purple XZ, etc.) so I think the ONE will be available on March 5th but only for SFR. I'll contact them on twitter, we'll see what are they gonna say.

I hope it's true. Don't forget the Xperia Z is launching on March 1st and pre-orders have been good so far so the sooner the ONE is out the better. Hopefully they don't have supplies issues with the ONE and I'm praying the 64GB version is out at the same time.

yer the 64gb would be nice but i really cant see it happening. (read somewhere htc said it was official it wasnt coming to the uk via twitter??)

I think you're right. Larger capacity items almost always seem to come later. Mind you Expansys dot ca has it listed and is taking pre-orders so maybe at most 1 month wait?
