How to check phone's branding etc - XPERIA X10 General

Hi,
From some other threads it seems that it's possible to check the phone's brand etc on the phone:
Model: X10i
Country: Generic GLOBAL
Brand: Generic
Click to collapse
Under settings -> about the phone, I only have:
* Model: X10i
* Firmware version:
* Radio software:
* Kernel version:
* Build number:
Where is info about country and brand located?

Try this.
In the key lock screen, press "menu > back > back > menu > back > menu > menu > back"
A service menu should pop up. There should be a setting there somewhere that says "brand". If it says Orange under it then your phone is branded with their firmware. If that's the case then follow the debranding method either the one using pc companion or seus (up to you). Just make sure you download the latest firmware for the x10i and use that to debrand... and when you're done, your phone will be debranded as well as on the latest firmware. Just remember that you probably will have to re enter your apn settings, so don't freak out if your data doesn't work at the beginning.
Borrowed from another page lol.

Can't connect to Internet with 3G/EDGE/...

Hi,
Recently I have a problem that my HTC Magic won't connect to Internet using mobile communications: 3G/EDGE/GPRS and I could not find any setting that would turn off/on the Internet connection.
WiFi works fine.
My phone:
1.) Model number: HTC Magic
2.) Firmware Version 1.5
3.) Baseband Version 62.50S.20.17U_2.22.19.26I
4.) Kernel Version 2.6.27-00393-g6607056
5.) Build Number CRC1
Hi antsh85 ,
When i want to disable Internet I do this : To be able to turn data on and off , follow these instructions
Settings -> Wireless controls -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> Press Menu -> New APN -> fill in the field Name with the word "blank" and press OK -> Fill in the field APN with the word "blank" and press ok -> Press Menu -> Save -> You are now done.
Now , when you want internet you select the Vodafone APN {the original} , If you don't select the "blank" APN profile we just created
CLLC
Yeah it sure sounds like a missing APN after rom flash
Whoops , My bad !
I think i misinterpreted your Original post , I agree with Ronni.rasmussen.
What network are you using and where? UK Vodafone HTC Magic?
Just reply and we'll see if we can give you the right APN

To flash another baseband:
- Download the appropriate firmware. You can install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, go to the menu 'Firmware Browser' and get the appropriate firmware.
- Extract and get 2 files: modem.bin + NON-HLOS.bin.
- For detailed instruction how to update the baseband, please refer to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...900tuvudnf4-extracted-stock-firmware-t2834398

What does that mean? You cannot flash another baseband? Or you have successfully flashed another baseband but the problem persists?
Please check the following and see what option is selected?
1- Open Settings > More networks > Mobile networks > Network mode ?
2- Open Dialer > enter *#2263# ?
3- Open Testing Menu > Device information > Set preferred network type ?

In fact 3g and wcdma are referred to the same thing.
- Is your phone root? If so, open Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Secret Codes' > scroll to 2263 and tap 'Launch 0' to launch the code.
- Did you try the Step #3 I've said above?

Testing menu is *#*#4636#*#* on every Android phones.
On Samsung phones this code has been disable, so you have to open it by another way.
Install Shortcut Master app > Menu > Search... > enter 'testingsettings' in the textbox and tap Search.
Finally tap on the search result to launch it.
You can also create a shortcut for it for later access easier.

[Q] Note 4 SM-N910S (SK Telecom) issues. Need solution!

Hi all,
I am a bit new to this forum. So my apologies for any tips that i have not known yet
I got a note 4 from SK telecom KR (SM-N910S) unlocked verion running Octa core version. There are 3 issues currently exist on my phone. I am living in Australia btw.
1 : Every time the phone start up, it will ask me whether i want to enable networking or not and talking about roaming ??
2 : Sometimes MMS can not be sent, retry few time and its ok ?
3 : The networking on SM-N910S has a big issue for me, that model only has 2 kinds of network LTE/3G mode or 3G Only mode, on AU version we have GSM/WCDMA/3G/LTE etc so it look like i am missing WCDMA and 2G networks
My question is :
* How can i access the hidden menu for Note 4, i know there is a hidden menu somewhere on that phone allow me to change network mode
* Can i flash my phone with AU firmware to remove roaming message and other SK's stuffs. ??
I can list some of my phone info here

Hi,
For me is not working. I did that change, I have LTE connectivity (not 4g as I have on my note 3) but now I can't use the phone, only Internet. Any idee? I'm on Vodafone Romania.

4G and LTE is just preference in naming. If you choose 'LTE' option without 'preferred', it will fail to fallback to 3G to make a phone call. Different story if your carrier has VoLTE

note 4 hidden menu network settings
I got this note 4 off ebay and it kept wanting to roam, and not use my network preference. I went into the hidden menu and changed it to all LTE and it asked if i wanted to use my network data and i said yes. Fixed it and the roaming "r" went away, but......................it won't stay like this after you reboot the phone, it goes back to roaming again until you go back into the hidden menu and do it again. How can you get it to stay permanently?

Yes, you are right.
If you have root, download Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > Secret Codes > 197328640 > Launch 0 > NAS INFO > MM REJECT CAUSE and show the screenshot.
If you don't have root, in the *#0011# screen > Menu > back > Menu > Keyinput > Q0 > DEBUGSCREEN > NAS INFO > MM REJECT CAUSE and also show the screenshot.

No I don't tab the reset,
1.) I just try to search for network,
2.) it shows all here in Austria available networks,
3.) I try auto connect to network, -> Fail,
4.) then I run the service mode again, it shows same result.
I run Csc VerifierLog. this shows many fail.
Did you see the substate is NoIMSI? Maybe something wrong with your SIM card? Did you try putting that SIM card into another phone to see if it works?

And also try to re-flash the stock firmware for your device. That may help to fix the problem with CSC Verify.
In the Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, open the Menu > 'Firmware Browser' to get a link of the stock firmware for your device.
Ok, the story is like that.
My son in law visit me here in Austria, and just befor he fly home again to the philippines, he buy him a Note 3 (SM-N9005) from here in Austria.
But he don't read the sticker on the box, " Europe Model" it has to be used with a europian SIM CARD before it can be used with a asian SIM.
So he just went to a mobile store in the Philippines and tell them to open the SIM lock.
After this the phone not work anymore right, it operate very slow. So finaly he send it back to me, by Fedex.
I take it to the "Mobile Store" here in Austria, but the told me the can't fix it becouse the " IMEI is lost 00/00" and in the Service menu ( *#0011#) it shows IMEI CERTI: FAIL.
So I bring it back home and try to fix it.
The Status now is:
1.) I write the IMEI back with this tool: EFS_Professional_2.1.73 ---> it works great my Imei is back
2.) I flash many moden.bin's until I'm sucsessful, and now my " IMEI Certi is : PASS
3.) If I try to use the phone, everything looks fine baseband is there the phone is fast, the only thing, if I try to use it as a phone, it say's " Not registerd to a Network" Emergency call only"
So I don't know waht the to in the Philippines, when the try to unlook it.
If I look in the Service Mode, it shows Service Limited.
Any Idea ?
Maybe the way EFS_Professional_2.1.73 generate the IMEI, is not the right way. If I put (*#06#)
it shows the right IMEI, but maybe the phone SW look in a other part of the memory for the IMEI?
do you have any idea?

1- Put your sim card into another phone to make sure it works fine?
2- Perform factory reset your phone and try again.
Hi,
I also have the same problem Samsung Note-3 showing Limited Service.
I have followed the stage showed above.I used the app Phone Info (that u shown).
IMEI is still there.
Root Existence says yes.
Android version is 5.0.Build.
Build Number is LRX21V.N900KKKU0G0J2.
MM reject cause is the same as vndnguyen (but my substate is normal)
The man from the service shop just keeping saying to change ICU.
But I don't want to change ICU. I want to try to fix it by myself.
I am just a phone seller so I don't know deep down the code.
I can just follow the step.
By the way I don't know how to attach image(it is not like using gmail instead it reques link)

Phone Nightmare, i dont know what i have done :(

i just bought the phone yesterday screwed up and ive been working on it for over 15 hours and im hoping someone of expertise can get me out of this issue.
I have a N9005 , SN: RF1D963X6PD
I live in Canada and use Wind Mobile (AWS BANDS) same as tmobile. I bought the phone and insterted my sim and noticed that i would only connect roaming. I then figured out that i had bought a international version and it didnt have the bands i needed to connect to AWS bands. So stupid me... not backing up anything... at all, thought it would be fine to use QPST and restore it with a AWS file that i always used to enable aws bands on a S4. Didnt work so i came across this thread and noticed someone mentioned somthing about using the note 2 qpst file , that also didnt work.I then noticed that my phone showed no bars or roaming. I go into mobile networks settings to search for a network and it just searches and never stops or sometimes it will say error. My imei still shows.
Im on Sammobile.com trying differant firmwares for the n9005 with odin and no luck, they all boot up and show no bars, no networks nothing, i feeling im looking in the wrong area of where the problem is. Im not sure what i have done. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I don't know where I should start from, but here are some suggestions:
1- Try to flash the original stock firmware for your device. You can find your original CSC using Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, look for the 'Original CSC' in the 'CSC INFO' section. Then open the menu 'Firmware Browser', enter that CSC into the CSC textbox to search and download the firmware.
2- Open the dialer > *#0011# (capture screenshot #1) > Menu - Back > Menu - Key Input > Q0 > wait... > DEBUG SCREEN > NAS INFORMATION > MM INFORMATION (capture screenshot #2) > Menu - Back > MM REJECT CAUSE (capture screenshot #3). And post those 3 screenshots for more investigation.
3- If you want to add some bands to the phone, you may need the Qualcomm NV Calculator app.

Thanks for responding vndnguyen,
1, i did as you said and coincidently the firmware that it suggested was the same one i had already installed (which seems to the be most stable one of the ones ive tried) so im not sure if the csc code was just reading what i had already flashed or if it was a coincidence i flashed the one i was supposed to. But i did a fresh flash, wiped everything, clean cache and flashed and samething no bars.
2, when i try to go to service mode using *#0011# , its all blank, so no luck in screenshoting anything.
3, i installed nv calculator and wrote the code for my requested on NV 1877, but no change.

a- As we all know the Galaxy Note 3 was launched on September 2013, but your manufacturing date is 04.2013? This sounds weird.
b- Your manufacturing date does not match with the S/N, so the phone is refurbished. You can check this by open the menu 'Refurbishment Check'.
c- Actually your phone may be N900A, but it has been flashed with N9005 firmware. Can you show a hi-res picture of the back sticker, behind the battery?

yes you are correct, it said it was refurbished
ive attached a pic of the back sticker, im not sure if this may hint to anything, but the sticker on the back looks as if its on a slant (maybe someone changed it and put it on)
i tried what you said and once i click the launch 0 , the servicemode screen still shows up blank, i read in another thread that Samsung disabled it in N9005 ROMs. could that be why it shows up blank

Can you show me that blank screen? And also show me the screenshot of Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Secret Codes'?

Your device has been modified in unappropriate way so all service menu do not work as expected.
I dont know what I have to suggest now. Try to flash the stock rom to get it back to the original state.

I appreciate your time and effort , one more thing before you go.
I loaded on VISION X ROM, from there i was able to capture the screen shots you requested, they are in the attachments below.
Also i looked through your app phone info samsung and it appeared all my info was quite differant from when i first showed you it, now its saying my phone is a n900t with the vision ROM, I will also attach pics below, please let me know what you think. thanks
Try flashing the stock firmware and capture screenshots again.

So the key solution is NV REBUILD.

try *#197328640# .. if that takes you to the service mode, then open the menu bar and click "key" and type "Q" , then open menu again click "key" and type "0000" (zeros) ....
if that first code doesnt get you in, use *#9090#
For some reason, that code doesn't work on many phones. You can use this way instead:
Use 'Phone INFO ☆Samsung☆' app > Menu > 'Secret Codes' > 197328640 > 'Launch 0'.
Note: Root is required for it to work.
solved
many thanks my friends. *#0011# do the trick.

I do but nothing works. I have signal and when i place a call the signal drops and i have the message not registered on network. I compare the efs file with my wifes 900w8 and its ok no files missing, Also did a hardware test putting the board on the other phone and nothing happen. its definetily a software issue.
