Hi all,
I am a bit new to this forum. So my apologies for any tips that i have not known yet
I got a note 4 from SK telecom KR (SM-N910S) unlocked verion running Octa core version. There are 3 issues currently exist on my phone. I am living in Australia btw.
1 : Every time the phone start up, it will ask me whether i want to enable networking or not and talking about roaming ??
2 : Sometimes MMS can not be sent, retry few time and its ok ?
3 : The networking on SM-N910S has a big issue for me, that model only has 2 kinds of network LTE/3G mode or 3G Only mode, on AU version we have GSM/WCDMA/3G/LTE etc so it look like i am missing WCDMA and 2G networks
My question is :
* How can i access the hidden menu for Note 4, i know there is a hidden menu somewhere on that phone allow me to change network mode
* Can i flash my phone with AU firmware to remove roaming message and other SK's stuffs. ??
I can list some of my phone info here

If you have root, just open Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Secret Codes' > scroll down to *#27663368378# for Service Main Menu or *#197328640# for Debug Screen. Tap and select "Launch 0' to launch.

Hidden Menu for N910S SK Telecom
i use n910s sk telecom too and get frustated how to connect to lte band 8, already set to lte preferred and still the icon shows me 3g.
but then i found the solution from xda developer, i forgot the links but i take screenshot of it.
now i can connect to my lte network and explore my n910s network by entering secret code for sk telecom.
NB: you don't have to root your n910s to explore this menu.
here's the screenshot:

Has anyone know to explain more settings found in SKT Secret Menu? There are many setting there...

Not working
Hi,
For me is not working. I did that change, I have LTE connectivity (not 4g as I have on my note 3) but now I can't use the phone, only Internet. Any idee? I'm on Vodafone Romania.

4G and LTE is just preference in naming. If you choose 'LTE' option without 'preferred', it will fail to fallback to 3G to make a phone call. Different story if your carrier has VoLTE

note 4 hidden menu network settings
I got this note 4 off ebay and it kept wanting to roam, and not use my network preference. I went into the hidden menu and changed it to all LTE and it asked if i wanted to use my network data and i said yes. Fixed it and the roaming "r" went away, but......................it won't stay like this after you reboot the phone, it goes back to roaming again until you go back into the hidden menu and do it again. How can you get it to stay permanently?

I recently bought a second-hand SGS, supposedly locked to 3. The firmware was from 3 UK, but when I punched in *#7465625# it showed all locks are OFF.
Hot for tasty Froyo, first thing i did was to upgrade from the branded Eclair ROM the phone came with to an unbranded stock Froyo ROM. Kies gave me a hard time so I used ODIN. Then I inserted my SIM and realized I could not make calls or even register on my GSM network. (Had not tried the SIM before, so I don't know if the flash caused this)
I found out that the flash had changed my Product Code to KOR, but I managed to change it using THIS GUIDE. However, the step "rm -rf /efs/nv_data.bin.md5" did not work as it was write/read protected. After reboot, the SIM didn't work so I did the "busybox chown 1001:1001 /efs/nv_data.bin". The procedure changed the Pcode to H3G, which I think is the original code, although I was going for XEE.
IMEI has not changed (*#06# gets same no. as is printed below battery)
I live in Sweden, my present CSC is XEE, Product Code is H3G. Network Control Key is 00000000, could this be related?
I considering doing the Product Code change procedure again and see if I can change it too XEE hoping that will fix it, but I'm not even sure this is related to my problem.
Other than that, I'm running out of ideas. However, I'm new to the SGS scene. I'm reaching out for someone with more experience to give me some new ideas.
I've spent hours and hours at this and I've googled like possessed. If I'm being a noob or have overlooked something, let me know - just tell me what I should do to fix this phone.
Go into Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks and check that Network Mode reads as auto mode. Then open Access Points Names and check that APNs are listed that suit your carrier.
If all of that checks out, go into an app like SGS Tools and use the secret code to check Band Selection.
Thanks for your reply!
I have inserted APN for data. Though, is this really necessary just for 2G calls and SMS?
When I choose "Select Automatically" in Settings/Wireless and network/Mobile Networks/Network Operators then I sometimes get "Registered on network". Then, when trying to call, I get "Data network not available". Band Selection (from SGS Tools secret codes) show:
= BAND SELECTION =
[1] AUTOMATIC []
[2] WSCDMA BAND []
[3] GSM BAND []
[4] COMBI BANDS []
When I select the network operator manually, I get "Unable to select network. Select automatically".
An alternative Go to Rom Kitchen build a rom with
XWJS8 > Hardcore Kernel >CSC CPW > Modem JPY and whatever else you require that should give all UK main networks .

I got Data Network not available when I was investigating my phone (that is, messing about) and changed my Network Mode. Go to Settings > Wireless and Network > Network Mode and choose GSM/WCDMA Auto mode. If you don't have connection, then try first GSM Only, then WCDMA Only...then back to both.
And yes, you need to have a data network connection to make calls. Not sure why. Must be something to do with billing.
I would hate to be right but are you sure, as you've bought it second hand, that it hasn't been registered as stolen? Do you know any history of the phone?
Product code should be GT-I9000HKDXXX, where XXX should be your CSC which is XEE that makes it: GT-I9000HKDXEE, you should not use H3G at all.
double post...sorry

Weird, I was sure APN is only required for MMS and Internet, not for calls and SMS. Anyway, I have APN so that's not it.

No, I don't and I can't be 100% sure it's not stolen. However, I have a bill of sale with all his information and I know where he lives so if that's the case, it can be sorted.

I think you are right, and I managed to change it so now both CSC and Product Code reads XEE, which should be correct for Sweden. However, the problem remains the same.
There is a possible solution from HERE, however it seems rather ...old. Having no other ideas I'll try it unless someone comes up with a better idea:
Richthofen said:
Possible problems (I had them all due trying different thing to solve it):
No service.
There is no service even a functional SIM card is inserted.
You cannot receive or make calls, receive or send sms, etc (obviously).
Freeze / lock-down.
The phone will not react to anything besides pressing power key.
You cannot unlock the display to enter PIN code.
Wrong PIN code.
The phone will not accept any PIN code on any SIM (even the correct one ).
Phone displays "wrong PIN code" message even the try counter (three strikes you know) does not change.
Product code changed to KOR.
= Blocked Kies updates (without a registry "hack")
Here is how to fix any or all of them:
Downgrade to I9000XWJM9 firmware with Odin (as usual).
Remove SIM card from the phone (to be able to boot in first place) and start the phone.
Gain root access and install "Root Explorer" (or similar), ADB works too.
Open Root Explorer and go to the "EFS" folder in the root.
Check the date on .nv_data.bak and .nv_data.bak.md5 files.
If it is earlier than 08/26/2010 you´re clear, if it is later then you may stop reading.
Once the date has been checked, select files nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 simultaneously and delete (yes, delete) them. Reboot the phone.
Now your phone is in the same condition (atleast permanent memory wise) as it was prior I9000XXJPC update.
There is a safety feature I would call "a dead mans switch".
If the current nv_data files are deleted, the phone will make new nv_data files from the .bak (backup) files (if they excist). The new nv_data files will be signed automatically so they pass the checks (none of the errors listed above will occur). However if they do not excist, the phone will just write an empty / test file (= IMEI corrupted, no service, etc). Also if you just rename .bak files they will have wrong signatures and the same problems will occur.
There is no bootloaders included, so it is safe to flash for everyone.

Have you tried doing a factory reset? May not work but may be worth a try.
Could only be either apn related (doubtful), faulty sim or stolen/lost phone. Unless hardware related.

Thanks, it seems a long shot but I will try it tomorrow.
I've already flashed the phone to XWJM9 with correct CSC folllowing the guide in my previous post. Restoring nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 from the .bak files didn't help, the .bak files were just three days old so the data there might have been contaminated.
As far as I can tell there's either a hardware fault, the phone is stolen, or I've messed up the precious data in /EFS by my first ODIN flash, before I did the back-up. Every guide should have that backup procedure as first step, mine didn't. :'(
I've mailed my operator so hopefully I'll get an answer tomorrow to whether the IMEI is blocked.

Hey!
I have the international D802 version and the "settings / tethering & networks / mobile networks / network mode" only shows 3 options, GSM/WCDMA; CDMA only; GSM only.
When I go into dialing *#*#4636#*#* or if I go into dialing 3845#*802# etc...to choose LTE/GSM/WCDMA! I can choose this mode and it works UNTIL I reboot, then it goes back to GSM/WCDMA!
Is there is anyway to make the LTE/GSM/WCDMA mode stick?!
Thanks!
EDIT: SOLVED
In build.prop change ro.telephony.default_network=9 from 9 to 11!
I got LTE settings in mobile networks menu. And it sticks after a reboot!
Thanks to @ejerez for the info in Here!
Heads up! It's solved in case anyone is interested!

Hi,
Thanks for the solution but I just need to check for the build.prop file, there are 2 similar lines as follows:
ro.telephony.default_network=9
& the other is:
#ro.telephony.default_network=9
Which do I change or do I change both? And do I need to change the permissions after changing it?
Thanks for your advice.

Man let me clarify that this solution worked for me on some ROMs and didn't work on other ROMs!
Both are the same, the # symbol in front of the expression makes it a comment and the program will disregard it!
So you can change only the first one, or to be safe you can change both. Nothing to lose!
Good luck!

Testing menu is *#*#4636#*#* on every Android phones.
On Samsung phones this code has been disable, so you have to open it by another way.
Install Shortcut Master app > Menu > Search... > enter 'testingsettings' in the textbox and tap Search.
Finally tap on the search result to launch it.
You can also create a shortcut for it for later access easier.

I am trying to fix it so my phone no longer reads No service, It seems like the fix is to go into service menu and run a ping test from basic info, but thats just what i have read in other forums.
i just bought the phone yesterday screwed up and ive been working on it for over 15 hours and im hoping someone of expertise can get me out of this issue.
I have a N9005 , SN: RF1D963X6PD
I live in Canada and use Wind Mobile (AWS BANDS) same as tmobile. I bought the phone and insterted my sim and noticed that i would only connect roaming. I then figured out that i had bought a international version and it didnt have the bands i needed to connect to AWS bands. So stupid me... not backing up anything... at all, thought it would be fine to use QPST and restore it with a AWS file that i always used to enable aws bands on a S4. Didnt work so i came across this thread and noticed someone mentioned somthing about using the note 2 qpst file , that also didnt work.I then noticed that my phone showed no bars or roaming. I go into mobile networks settings to search for a network and it just searches and never stops or sometimes it will say error. My imei still shows.
Im on Sammobile.com trying differant firmwares for the n9005 with odin and no luck, they all boot up and show no bars, no networks nothing, i feeling im looking in the wrong area of where the problem is. Im not sure what i have done. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I don't know where I should start from, but here are some suggestions:
1- Try to flash the original stock firmware for your device. You can find your original CSC using Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, look for the 'Original CSC' in the 'CSC INFO' section. Then open the menu 'Firmware Browser', enter that CSC into the CSC textbox to search and download the firmware.
2- Open the dialer > *#0011# (capture screenshot #1) > Menu - Back > Menu - Key Input > Q0 > wait... > DEBUG SCREEN > NAS INFORMATION > MM INFORMATION (capture screenshot #2) > Menu - Back > MM REJECT CAUSE (capture screenshot #3). And post those 3 screenshots for more investigation.
3- If you want to add some bands to the phone, you may need the Qualcomm NV Calculator app.

Thanks for responding vndnguyen,
1, i did as you said and coincidently the firmware that it suggested was the same one i had already installed (which seems to the be most stable one of the ones ive tried) so im not sure if the csc code was just reading what i had already flashed or if it was a coincidence i flashed the one i was supposed to. But i did a fresh flash, wiped everything, clean cache and flashed and samething no bars.
2, when i try to go to service mode using *#0011# , its all blank, so no luck in screenshoting anything.
3, i installed nv calculator and wrote the code for my requested on NV 1877, but no change.
I screenshoted some info in phone info samsung app, maybe that can somewhat help you with my issue. Check the attachment below. Thanks again

a- As we all know the Galaxy Note 3 was launched on September 2013, but your manufacturing date is 04.2013? This sounds weird.
b- Your manufacturing date does not match with the S/N, so the phone is refurbished. You can check this by open the menu 'Refurbishment Check'.
c- Actually your phone may be N900A, but it has been flashed with N9005 firmware. Can you show a hi-res picture of the back sticker, behind the battery?
d- As your Knox flag is 0x1, you can root your phone (if it has not been rooted), then open the Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Secret Codes' > 0011 > 'Launch 0', and follow the steps #2 above to take 3 screenshots for further checking.

yes you are correct, it said it was refurbished
ive attached a pic of the back sticker, im not sure if this may hint to anything, but the sticker on the back looks as if its on a slant (maybe someone changed it and put it on)
i tried what you said and once i click the launch 0 , the servicemode screen still shows up blank, i read in another thread that Samsung disabled it in N9005 ROMs. could that be why it shows up blank

The info on the back sticker are matched with the IMEI and S/N in the app. That means the back ticker are original. But the phone's hardware (mainboard) has been changed, it may be due to repairing or warranty etc...

Nope, Samsung only disable the service menu on some models (e.g Verizon). But with this tool (Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Secret Codes' > 0011 > 'Launch 0') you can launch any secret codes that are available in your device.
Can you show me that blank screen? And also show me the screenshot of Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Secret Codes'?

Your device has been modified in unappropriate way so all service menu do not work as expected.
I dont know what I have to suggest now. Try to flash the stock rom to get it back to the original state.

I appreciate your time and effort , one more thing before you go.
I loaded on VISION X ROM, from there i was able to capture the screen shots you requested, they are in the attachments below.
Also i looked through your app phone info samsung and it appeared all my info was quite differant from when i first showed you it, now its saying my phone is a n900t with the vision ROM, I will also attach pics below, please let me know what you think. thanks
Try flashing the stock firmware and capture screenshots again.
update
after flashin with vision x and using blaze kernel i was able to look around the service mode menue and found NV REBUILD. i just went through every menu until i found it and bam, got roaming signals back, so i was happy, now i just have to figure out how to get the aws signal working, thanks for all your help and time
So the key solution is NV REBUILD.

try *#197328640# .. if that takes you to the service mode, then open the menu bar and click "key" and type "Q" , then open menu again click "key" and type "0000" (zeros) ....
if that first code doesnt get you in, use *#9090#
For some reason, that code doesn't work on many phones. You can use this way instead:
Use 'Phone INFO ☆Samsung☆' app > Menu > 'Secret Codes' > 197328640 > 'Launch 0'.
Note: Root is required for it to work.
solved
many thanks my friends. *#0011# do the trick.

I do but nothing works. I have signal and when i place a call the signal drops and i have the message not registered on network. I compare the efs file with my wifes 900w8 and its ok no files missing, Also did a hardware test putting the board on the other phone and nothing happen. its definetily a software issue.
