I think this is great news. We now have an android port with the touch screen drivers working.
NO, this is not a complete android port!!!!
You can only boot into Android for up to 5 or 6 minutes before you get a Blue Screen error.
Instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6999432&postcount=2267
3 Step instructions [thanks cjmdaniels ]:
1. Downloaded the latest release with touch drivers found here: http://media2a.com/android/Android_Boot_Test_TS.zip.
2. Unzip all files to storage card root.
3. In your file explorer, go to your SD card root and run HARET.EXE.

This is what I was able to do on mine:

I'm not complaining... not at all. I'm really happy at this time... And it is really super fast.
Tried it again and I was now able to load android, skip the setup, open phone, hit the home (hardware) button to go to home, open google maps (no map showed up of course), close it, pull down the notification bar, open the menu, scroll up and down the program list etc.
THANK YOU everyone who was involved. I really wish I had done some linux programming so I could help the devs instead of 10 years of windows and web development.
I'm so looking forward to more drivers.

ROM 2.10.531.1 (2/22/10) - Stock T-Mobile USA ROM
Radio: 2.08.50.08_2 - Stock t-mo USA radio
The best I had before the blue screen was about 2 to 3 mins of android.

Again, for NOOBS - THIS IS NOT FULL ANDROID!!!!!
Only the Touch Screen works. But its a major achievement.

I got this working on my Stock t-mo USA ROM with the Stock t-mo USA Radio.
This is NOT a ROM, it will NOT replace any files on your HD2.
You DO NOT need HSPL for this.
You are just loading linux (android) from your windows OS.
If you want to go back to windows, you'll have to do a soft reset (take out battery or press the yellow/red reset button).
It will not work each time, I had to run Haret.exe 3 times before I could get into Android.
OP,
I'll be hovering around this thread like a vulture. Thanks. Subscribed to it.
Cheers.
Add my 3 minutes to yours!!!!
I had to try it a couple of times before I got it to boot up. Nice! It froze on me when I was playing around with the dialer.
Very impressive work done by the XDA team! Can't wait for more functionality. I love WinMo but the idea of being able to dual boot WinMo or Android is just too awesome!
Edit: Stock T-Mo (USA) ROM (2.13)
Radio: 2.10.50.26
I am uploading a quick video to Youtube now. I guess after the first boot (which I had for ten minutes!) then the blue screen, evertime after when you get to the lock screen you try to unlock and it hits the blue screen. Guess you have to delete and try again. Post up in a minute.
Not as far as I got the first time but here is the first video try.

The first boot up took forever and I thought it had hung up. The second boot locked up at the dialer, the third boot gave me a bit more time but I think honestly, you're not going to get more than 5 or so minutes before something hangs up.
Uploading Part 2 now. Shows a little more of Android working

You do not have to delete anything...when you boot into the lock screen, just hit the windows hard key at the bottom...it will go to the android home screen.
Awesome.
great work. project started off slowly but it's not certainly starting to pick up some steam.
Insane, I posted on cyanogenmod's forums as well to ask if there were any plans to port cyanogenmod to htc hd 2 once android is running but i digress. Android on HTC HD2 wins so hard!

Hello all. I have a T-Mobile MyTouch3G running the latest Cyanogen Mod 4.2.12.2 and I'm running into some issues with alittle lag. Every time I'm running an app for awhile the press the home button I keep getting "home activity force close errors". Or when i go back to the home screen it almost seems like it has to boot back up and load every shortcut back to my screen. Also once I wake the phone up from sleep "like say when i receive a text and i go to read it" its very laggy and takes about 20 seconds for it to start running smooth again.
I rarely have many apps running usually just power manager, gmail, and messaging. I have 210 MB of space available in my internal memory.
I've tried factory reset. Different versions of cyanogen but all to no avail.
I love this phone, by far one of the best phones I've ever owned. So if anybody has any idears that'd be great!
I think I would have taken a full wipe.
boot into recovery, and full wipe the flash CyanogenMod ROM again.
Try going to ur app drawer and click spare parts. Go all the way to the bottom and check the "put home in memory" -something like that-. I had a similar problem and that helped me with 4.2.11.1
Hi,
I had this problem on my Vodafone UK Magic with 4.2.12.2 and it seems that UNchecking "keep home in memory" helps (source attached link)
"In the several threads above, solutions/fixes include disabling 'keep home
in memory', enabling compcache, and/or enabling swap. "
http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmo...Priority Version Owner Summary Stars Modified
Even though I'm saying the exact opposite of the poster before me, I hope this helps.
DT
All options will work for you. But if you join them all its even better. Locks home in memory with spare parts and enable compcashe. You might also run fix_permissions. In your terminal type in:
su
fix_permissions
Enjoy
Problem Fixed!
thanks for all the input. I should have got on here along time ago instead of trying to fiddle with it myself. Two thumbs up xda community!
First let me say this is the first issue I've had to date with my HD2. As a die hard win mobile advocate, I love it and it has exceeded expectations at every turn. Today however, I seem to have a problem with HTC Sense. it will not Launch correctly. it hangs on the Launching Sense splash. the Home button is not working. the Start button (hard and soft) is working , but the display freezes anytime i do anything. for instance, i can press the Task Manager shortcut i put on my start menu, and lauch the task manager, but if i minimixe with the X, the x just disappears and the header changes from task manager to start, but the screen is left displaying the the task manager and nonworking buttons (more like a screenshot)
I'm considering restetting to factory, but thought i'd see if there was a way to reinstall sense first (if anyone might agree, thats worth trying first)
Can I reinstall HTC Sense? (without it working properly now)
Is this worth a try?
many thanks, love the forum

have you installed anything recently? if that is the case, try uninstalling that, soft reset and then see if sense leaunches properly. As for reinstalling sense, theres a cab floating around, but its huge...dont know if it will work for you or not as ive never tried it myself
heres the link: http://rapidshare.com/files/401944993/bigboss_Manila_2.5_2016_full.cab.html
you need to install sdcerts first for the above cab to install. it can be found here
http://www.mediafire.com/?1mmddxz2yjm
good luck!
WOW!!!
MINE DID THE VERY EXACT SAME THING Monday night. I think it was something to do with a game that I must have installed from marketplace a few minutes before it happened. One of the free XIM games i think, or maybe the bartender recipes free app. I uninstalled almost everything and soft reseted about 10 times, nothing. Sense will work for about 30-60 seconds after a reset but then all of a sudden stops working. Leaving that last screen that was open displaying with no responses to anything other then start and end keys. WTF happened??
after a reboot, quickly go and disable the sense from home setting from the setting tab before it locks up. I did that and it is working fine with Windows default or even SPB Mobile shell. Sense is fried though.
Nate
any other ideas peeps?

Follow up, I think it may have been an error with Twitter or HTC PEEP. I was looking around for the Peep app to see if it would run outside of sense and saw the HTC folder in the Windows (windows\htc\twitter\files) folder and found an executable Twitter app.exe. I launched it and it asked if I wanted to log out of twitter, i said yes and then later I turned on Sense and it has worked ever since.
Related??? Dont know.
but I am up and running again. I will report back if it happens again.
ok, everything is still running fine. What I did after the Sense crash.
installed SPB Mobile shell 3.5.5
tried sense a couple more times, failed each time.
Looked for and found Twitter app.exe, launched and logged out of twitter.
tried sense again, worked.
logged back into twitter
Unisntalled SPB mobile shell
No problems to note. Everythign is working as it should.
Running the latest Stock Tmobile rom as well.
seems like this thread has not had any activity lately, does that mean that the OP is not having issues now???
most probably it's not a matter of twitter app. i've never used it, was not logged in and sense still did break down, hangs while "Launching HTC Sense...". got energy ROM, happened for the second time, dunno why am tired of restoring to manufacturer defaults and wiping my device twice a year
Hi, thanks to everyone that got this working. I had time over Christmas and gave it a go and have found Android to far better show off the HD2 than the rather limited and buggy Windows 6.5 we were given with device.
Couple of questions though:
I do seem to have issues with the phone switching itself off when running Android if it's been 'asleep' for a while, not all the time, but here and there.
Also, the power on button/call hang-up (on the right) doesn't always bring the phone to life. It can take a press, then wait for it to fail to come to life - the buttons light up and then go off after a few seconds - then press it again and I'm in.
Are there any updates to this, as I am loving having Android running on the HD2, as it is much more smoothly integrated, as far as seeing the news headlines slickly open at a touch and then a simple back press to go back to the headlines, same for Twitter, Facebook etc, really great.
I definitely want to keep using it on the phone but today again I had an issue where it froze and then when I restarted Android the widgets said 'unable to display/load widget' or something like that and I had to bin them and re-add them, no major shakes I admit but a more solid build would be great if there is one?
I've now backed-up with Titanium, as per some posts on XDA and so am just wondering if anyone can suggest bug fixes for what I have running or else a build that is as free as it can be of any issues???
I am running:
HTC HD2 (UK)
Android 2.2 (booting from SD card)
Baseband Version 15.40.50.07H_2.12.50.02_2
Kernal 2.6.32.9
Mod CyanogenMod-6.0.0-N1(shubCRAFT 1.5_by shu8i)
Hope that info helps. Please go easy with the tech talk. I can keep up if the steps are easy enough, so a "put this folder there" kind of reply would be super appreciated!
p.s. i got my install info from here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeBKnm8Tkfc which supplies link to shubCRAFT_v1.5_STOCK
p.p.s. CyanogenMod has a site, as per following link, but which of these fits the HD2 as it's not listed and how do you then update it? http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/files/category/1-stable-mod/
advice on stable builds please
Doesn't anyone have any advice???
I see on YouTube someone has posted a video showing a proper install of Android on the phone memory, overwriting I assume the Windows 6.5. I'm happy to do that if everyone gives green light and says it's stable???
All/any advice appreciated.
Thanks
So I just updated to UD 1.5b3. This reset my settings back to having the double sized notification bar, which annoys the crap out of me, so I used Reditus2's method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1114069
I used this method for UD 1.0 and it worked wonders. After running this on 1.5b3 however I am now unable to boot up as usual (can still get to recovery mode and thus was able to fix, but wanted to share this). I get as far as the UrukDroid Loading... page, trys to load for about 5-10 seconds, goes black for about 1 second, and then shows the Loading page again. I have allowed it to sit on this screen for 10+ min to no avail. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to keep UD 1.5b3 without having the huge notification bar. Also wanted to give Reditus2 a chance to see this and maybe there's just an update needed to the scripting to resolve this.
I had the same problem with rc1
i gave up on reframing
at least the bar disapear when you lunch a full screen app
I'll try as well - but right, full screen works at least.
working like a charm for me on UD 1.5
have you tried this? - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139882

Did update went ok? What has the message on top of the bar during update? What messaged you have seen during startup of device?
Anyway best/fastest/easiest etc. way is to restore rootfs from backup (RescueMenu) if you had one. Second is just to do quick reinstall of rootfs (your data will stay untouch).
@$auron:
As i never use it the search button, is there any chance of switching it off?
And wouldn't be 32 px a better solution, as normally everything alligned to 4 or 8 gets better scaled and painted on normal devices?
Otherwise, nice.

I remember the first time I updated the framework with Fisha21's one, it took a while to boot up on the first boot. Apparently android was rebuilding the dalvik cache with the new framework.

32px height buttons, I've also made them shorter - 70px instead of 80px. Sadly removing search is not so easy (I don't know if I will have time to look further).

Yes (I still use ButonSavior - even with buttons on top, because they can disappear on some apps) - but less universal..
ps. I know where to remove search button (or any other) but system refuses to accept new framework - probably once again this ****ty certificates issue !
Thanks aur0n, the button package works great! !!!

32px work better, as now batterie and wifi are next to each other instead of ontop.
Have deinstalled buttonsaior, as this together with std buttonmode (longpress power) is enough for me.
Thaks again.

That's kind of unlikely - device would not work with empty /data (it would write a lot of new stuff in it during boot...)
I agree, that's why I was so confused. Did manage to find an answer on that one though. For some reason lost my SU permission for my file explorer so that's resolved. Don't suppose you might know why the kernel file isn't doing the auto-update/install once dropped into the urukupdate folder? The modified top bar you listed worked perfectly, but the Kernel file isn't automatically updating, and it looks like the new UrukConfig doesn't allow me to force the update.
Hi all, new kid on the blog here, if this is off topic and misplaced, please be gentle and knock it where it belongs.
So, here is my problem:
I got my first HD2 last week only, my first android system, "energy" runnymede 2.3.5, dec 14th, 2011
Among many other apps, SambaServer found its way onto it, SuperUser latest version previously installed.
Whenever I start Samba, it complains that the password is not set yet, and asks me to hit settings - ... in the menu. Nothing simpler than that, except - there is no menu on my Samba screen. I see the four buttons in the sample screenshots, but on my HD2, there is nothing but an elegant plain black plane. Just the Samba logo in the top third, and the remark that the passowrd is undefined.
I uninstalled Samba already completely, previously clearing all it's stored data (that worked, surprisingly), installed it again, same status. snafu?
Any advice is welcome. And please remember - here is an android noob, although my button pressing history track goes back even to an electron tube-CPU computer in the sixties... but that's a different story.
Thanks in advance!
