I remember it, yet I didn't bother to save the link, as for some reason I had that logging already off on my custom rom

I have tried to search with no luck. My question is when i installed touchit 4.4 i do not have any of the pop up menu's IE when making a text and i start typing the persons name or a word it never pops up suggestions. With over 200 contacts i would like to have the short option to type in 3 letters or so and select the contact from the actual Sms screen. Another thing is when i goto create new (msg) i dont get the option to do MMS or SMS. Lastly off the top of my head when i am typing words i like the option with suggestions again. Can anybody either point me to the proper settings or registry keys to re-enable these features. Also i noticed when i put touch it on my phone all of my contacts are doubled now ? how can i fix this without manually deleting them all

1. I havent seached for a fix as far as typing input for SMS recipients, I have just gotten use to clicking menu and adding someone from my contacts instead of typing there name.
2. If you put messaging on your today screen, click on the no unread messages bar and it will take you to the messaging center to pick MMS,SMS, email account.
3. I did think the wings OEM text suggestion program was great, Ive gotten use to not using it with 4.4. Tho if you use the virtual keyboard the program is still enabled.
I dont know if any of this will be a fix for you, it is alil info. There might be things you have to get use to not having with Touch, but be glad you have more than 14mb of memory.
Also, for the duplicate contacts, I would just make sure all your numbers are embedded on your sim card, then select all from your contacts and delete them. Open SIM manager from programs, select all from menu and save all to contacts.
Yes true maybe someone can find the registry keys to enable it, Speaking of registry besides the lame attempt at wiki of a good solid registry hack, tweak mod guide does anybody have a better site while i was Out of town visiting over xmas i stumbled accross a site that offered so many registry hacks but i didnt book mark it
Also a few more questions i get really mad that the Wing does not allow lets say .mid .gif etc files in MMS's is there a way to disable automatic file deletion in mms? sorry if this doesnt make much sense just worked 14 hrs.
you can just write your contact's name (or part of their name) and then go to "menu" and click on "check names".
This should be easier than going through your contacts.

typing a name and then going thru menu is more steps than just clicking add recipent and clicking the contact you want.
I dont know any other registry sites.
Good Luck
Hi. I'd need the option to use the old Application for managing the SMS Store.
Does anybody know if it is incorporated in HD2-Roms but hidden, or if the old application from a 6.1 ROM would work on HD2?
Backgroud: I used to created subfolders under Inbox and sent messages as an archive for all SMS I get and send. Every year I export them with PIMBackup and save the resulting file to a safe place.
Now, with the new messaging-application I'm not able to change the folders anymore. The subfolders are still there (I see them in PIMBackup when trying to create a backup), but I can't access them.
Take a look here
Cheers.
Oh thank you.
I must have defined my searches wrong, cause I missed that posting
EDIT: Oh, thank you again. You made me edit the registry and I mistankely changed the Name "System" und HKLM to "e" and I couldn't change it back. :S
Since it is one of the most important keys in the registry, only a hard-reset brought my HD2 back to life.
Well, it was not so bad at all. I have all my data as a backup.
Actually, it was kinda funny to see what the device does when you edit the registry and make a mistake.
Dears,
How can i know my sent SMS status on my HTC Diamond 2 mobile??
(Sent - Received,...)
is there anyway to know that?
When writing the SMS, go to options- there is the option for a delivery report.
Sorry to hijack this post.
But I have just updated my phone with the official windows mobile 6.5 from the HTC website. For some reason I now can not set the LED to stay on until I have read the message like I used to be able to. The tick box is greyed out. Does anyone know a way around this?
SQueal. there is a regedit to fix this. get a regeditor,if you dont already have one and navigate to HKCU\Controlpanel\Notifications and find entry A877D65B…
change AvailableOptions value to 15.

Thanks codhunter, is there a registry editor on the phone, or can I access it through a PC one when its hooked up via active sync?
While I am in there, is it also possible to change the text message alert to something I want, I notice that they have removed this on the updates as well which is quite irritating.
Does anybody know what SmsListener_log.txt in My Device/Temp is? It keeps a log of all text messages even after they are cleared from the deleted items. Can it be disabled?
Heh, I also just found this file and wondered what it was from and why it's there.
Any ideas?
Not on mine. 1.66 stock.
Not on mine either, Stock 1.66.
Hmm, that is weird, I have it too.
Running the Stock USA Tmobile ROM. Definitely seems like it's Sense related since it's written is some type of code/interface.
It doesn't really bother me, though i could see why someone would be upset by it.
I wonder what would happen if someone were to delete the file.....
I have it too, 12.5MBs.
I am running a stock T-Mobile USA rom. I have deleted the file, but it reappears when there are new text messages.
No big deal, but if I delete a message, it would be nice if it were really deleted.
Hehe, I'm wondering what T-Mobile was thinking when they implemented this in their ROM... "Lets just store every SMS in a separate file" ..?
Sounds to me like a conspiration...
cant someone try to write a "lets bomb usa" text, make up some plans and send it to your own phone, then wait a few minutes and see if the feds shows up? lol
I found a way to disable this log:
1. Open the registry editor and navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\SMS\Rules.
2. Delete the following value: {54F38CD4-B778-28BA-6F63-2D942AFCCD7D}.
3. Soft-reset.
Notes:
This GUID represents a CLSID for the messaging rules client in \Windows\SmsListener.dll. I do not know what exactly it does, nor do I know what other messaging rules clients referenced in "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Svc\SMS\Rules" do.
Messaging rules client can move, modify or even delete the incoming message without owner's knowledge. It could be that TMO included this SmsListener.dll to be able to control our phones through SMS. Or may be I'm just paranoid. It would be really nice if someone could reverse engineer this dll to see what it really can do in certain circumstances.
Thanks, deleted entry, will see how it goes.
Not on mine, O2 1.43 Rom

maybe they will knock on our doors here in norway for finding out about their conspiracy and stuff...
bare å løpe over til sverige eller noe nå!! hehe...
I have deleted the registry entry as mentioned above. So far so good-no log of text messages taking up room.
Is there some sort of temp file cleaner for the HD2, similar to CCleaner for a desktop?
Thanks for the help.
Nobody felt the need to ask your service provider why the hell they're logging SMS to a seperate file?
good registry find

Do you think they will really be willing to tell you that even if you're able to reach someone who knows?
Interesting. I don't have this log either.
i have it along with a screenshot (have no idea why the phone takes random screenshots)...
I know there are other Android devices where this happens, but I haven't heard of it yet on an Epic.
Basically, I've kept all my SMS messages for the last couple years. This morning I sent a text, no problem, still had all my messages. I received a reply driving to work and when I checked about 10 minutes later all my messages (including all threads) were gone except for the reply!
I do not have any autodelete enabled. I use Handcent. Handcent did dump a 0kb stack file on my SDcard root folder at the time it happened.
I already checked /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony only to find my mmssms.db is shrunken from 1.6MB to 35kb. There is also a mmssms.db.bak and mmssms.db.mark which are 0kb and not typically in there.
Any ideas on where my missing DB file could be? I feel it is erased, but do not know of any recovery method. I already searched the SD card using Recuva with no DB files. Where else can I look? Any way to mount the internal storage to attempt a recovery?
Thanks

Unfortunately I can't give a suggestion as to what happened but I can make a suggestion to keep it from happening in the future. Get the app called SMS Backup. This app backs you sms messages to your gmail account (with a separate label so it doesn't clutter your inbox). If this happens to you again in the future then at least you will have the data backed up.

@goddimus: Thanks for the suggestion about SMS Backup to Gmail. I did have that installed at one point (2009) but was concerned about battery life so decided to uninstall it. I do have an old backup from 3 months ago on my computer.
@orbiting234: I keep them for the same reason I keep all my emails. You never know when you need to refer to it, plus once in a while it's fun to look at to remember the events of your life.
Any way to extract a bit-accurate image of the data partition to run through a recovery program in Windows?
Yes, just went thru similar issue. Ill update this post when back home, but search this forum for 'extract nandroid' .. ill also post the db where sms are located.
Sent from the future.

I don't have a recent Nandroid backup though. What do you mean exactly?
