Trouble installing rom on hd2 - HD2 General

I'm new at this. I've followed the directions on how to install cooked ROM but I keep getting an error (Error 262). I don't know what to do anymore. I've changed computers, played with the connection settings, reinstalled Window Mobile Device Center, and it still hangs on me. I have to recover and I'm back to square one. I'm trying to install the Core Evo. Any tips? They would be greatly appreciated.

Would be helpful to know your spl/hspl version ...
Your phone type, HD2 / TMOUSHD2 ...
Did you put HSPL3 on first?
so on and so forth ...
If you can post your phone info and the info at the top of your bootloader screen would be helpful ..

I had the same problem as you.
I solved it by flashing with new HSLP3. After i used this flash i had no problem with error 262 and been able to install any custom roms.
HSPL3 is on this forums.

Hey, I ran into the same problem, and couldn't figure out why. I tried just about everything, (enabling advanced networking), etc...but I ended up hard spl'ing and now I never have any issues flashing. I would recommend doing that first. If you have any questions about it, just pm me.
ERROR 270
I have the same error - I have tried to flash it again and I still get hte same error... I erased the Flash Center directory, tried to use the old one - the one I flashed OT 5.3... But I still get the error - actually with the old flash center everything seems to go correctly but ultimately o reboot, OT5.0 is on not the new one!!!
Any other suggestions?

are you using the USPL flash center or the HardSPL flash center. If your phone is not HardSPL'd you shouldn't try to use the HardSPL flash center for it. Conversely, if it IS HardSPL'd, you shouldn't use the USPL flash center with it

AT&T Data Connection does not work

I had an AT&T Tilt with a data plan. It worked well. I Just recieved the HTC Touch T8285 which I purchased. I installed the SIM card and the phone work well. I noticed that the internet does not work. Can someone give me some gudance on what I need to do to get the data connection to work over the AT&T network.
Thank you.
if i remember correctly, it's because the the Telstra ROM locks the data connection to Telstra's service. did you add at&t's connection settings to your device? if so, i take it that didn't work so i'm not sure if there's a workaround when using the stock Telstra ROM. as soon as i got mine, i applied the HardSPL package and then flashed a custom ROM. after doing this, the phone automatically configured at&t's internet settings and i've been good to go ever since.
I am getting a little confused on which 1.56+ base rom to use for the flashing. Can you help. Not an expert in this area, but did alot of reading to educate my self.
Thank you in advance.

search the Available Blackstone Shipped ROMs for a WWWE (WorldWideEnglish) 1.56 ROM and you should be good to go.
I found the ROM I need. I trying to run HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_1560liNex.exe. Tried several times. Getting a "error 262" ? Any suggestions?

not trying to be rude/contrite/an asshole, but if you read the Tutorial (from my signature) there are troubleshooting guides for the error codes and other issues to complete the HardSPL. i know it's a painfu/steep learning curve (that we all have to complete), but once you complete the process, you'll be better equipped for your next flash. my recommendation is to create a checklist of ALL the steps (e.g., using Word, Excel or a piece of paper) required to flash a new ROM and use that as a guide. good luck!
O.K. got through installing the HSPL (HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_1560liNex.exe). The issue was that I when into the boot loader manually rather than allowing the HSPL application to do it. I have a distorted color screen. I did a alot of reading and I believe I did it right. I also installed the 1560liNex twice. It did not help. When the HTC touch HD is booted up in has the disported colors. It appears to go away after the sleep mod. I seen some posting on this, but I do not seem to find a resolution. I verified in boatloader that I am running "SPL-560liNex" The ROM version prior to this was "1.21.841.1" Should I proceed to install "RUU Blackstone HTC WWE 1.56.405.1" hoping that the color issue would go away or continue to try to resolve the distorted color issue? You comments would be appreciated.
Thank you,
the only way to validate you've updated your SPL is to go into bootloader mode and confirm that you see "SPL 1.56 Olinex". once you install SPL 1.56 Olinex, you have to use a 1.56 (or newer ROM).

Here is a link to the error codes. Your error means you need to go back to SSPL before you can flash that ROM.

You are still using the original SSPL (Soft Second Program Loader) which will only accept official update ROMs.
In order to flash the custom ROMs available here, you will need to flash in a HSPL (Hard Second Program Loader).
I don't know if you are totally new to flashing ROMs or not, since you didn't say and your post indicator said that was your first post here, but I would advise you to be very, very careful. In the early days (last month, actually) a TON of people were bricking their phones because they accidentally downloaded the European ROMs for the 512Leo. Ours is the 1024Leo and only ROMs designed for our phones will work.
The phone I am using is actually a replacement from TMO. I was having issues with the original device I purchased.
How do I use a HSPL or whatever... I am slightly confused but I can catch up quickly...
Thanks.
same thing happened to me, what i did was i restarted the update without disconnecting the phone from the computer, and it worked.

I encountered the same problem and it appeared that my computer was slow in "re-recognizing" the phone. For some reason, it had to reinstall drivers before continuing with the update. After the device was again recognized, I restartde the update (without disconnecting the phone) and it continued without issue.
I had been worried that the phone had become a paperweight when I saw the tricolor screen, but everything has been fine and the upgrade appears to have worked correctly.

Think of HSPL as your BIOS (it isn't, but it may help you to think of it as such). You don't have any control over the options, but you need it to load or install your OS. Installing HSPL is simply a matter of following the directions in the link that I posted last time: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614
Once you have HSPL installed, you should be able to "flash" any ROM. Of course, this also allows you to flash ROMs that are not meant for your phone, so that's the danger behind it.
When you visit a thread that offers a ROM, it should either have instructions or a link to instructions on how to install. If it does not, a google search for "xda how to install a custom rom" should give you a million helpful links. (This is actually beyond the scope of this post so I won't go into details)
Hope this helped some...

just for kicks did you try a different ROM, find another ROM that is Compatible and try it, not saying there is anything wrong with Dutty's , but could just be the download , but not sure since you tried stock too ...
You may need to reinstall HSPL3, if you tried to flash a stock rom, and even if it failed it could have removed HSPL ...
Also try plugging the USB cable into the back of the machine

Hey guys,
I am having the same issue although I may know the answer but not sure how to fix it. Prior to flashing chuckyRom, I installed HSPL but I don't think I installed the correct version (still worked). So does anyone think this entire problem is attributed to initially installing the wrong hard SPL. If so, how can this be fixed? android is running great on chuckyRom but it would be nice to use a rom that is used for more than running android.
Please help, I have been in misery trying to solve this for over two weeks now.
Error 260, T-mobile HD2
Error 260 during ROM update
I had the same problem and tried everything (?)
Finally I got it work.
After I started the update the first time, I got the message, driver was not installed successfuly ...blabla
I ignored the message, tried and the connection disconnected every time again.
At the end I used another usb port and it asked me to download the CDMA driver. After download and installation, the update was in 5 min. done

First time flashing the radio and kept getting error 260 from CustomRUU.
Read so many threads and all say sync the phone with your PC and run CustomRUU. Nobody said to run it under BootLoader Mode.
This simple note helped a lot for a newbie like me.... thanks

It looks like you have to start all over from the beginning, try a youtube tutorial there are many out there and many of the more experienced techs on here actually post those videos. Good luck and make sure you follow it step by step. Also check out a thread by a moderator by the name of MSkip he posted on here directions on how to install a rom on your phone.. it's located in the HD2 section.
I think you've probably got everything right except for the actual ROM flash. There aren't too many Android NAND roms that you can flash the usual way (i.e the DAF like loaders you used for HSPL and magldr), but you can try flashing CWM and then a good NAND Android rom. Check out the Android NAND development forum for a suitable rom to flash, you'll most likely find the relevant instructions there. Or you can start over with YouTube tutorials to guide you (that's what I did). Best of luck.

Installing original W.M 6.5 problem

Hi guys,
I wanted to return to the original W.M 6.5 in order to install new Android NAND, so I formatted my SD card, placed the image and loaded the bootloader. Unfortunately, the installation was interrupted. After that when trying to repeat the procedure bootloader says "Upgrade ROM code error Please try again" . I am trying again, but the same thing happens over and over again. I tried installing it via USB connection, but it installs 1% and gives the same error "000028002 NOT ALLOW".
Does that mean that I have bricked my phone and if not, how am I to fix that and install what I wanted to install?
Message says it all. ROM code error.
Fliashing from SD will remove HSPL so you have no CID bypass.
ROM you are flashing is not matching your devices country ID so you need to find a ROM that is correct to flash via SD or flash via USB & flash a suitable HSPL first.
Before proceeding flashing, check ROM & radios are correct for your device as too many people are bricking their devices by silly mistakes these days.
Thank you!
My phone is an Orange bought form UK. I fount the required ROM (ver. 3.14), but the same thing happens again. I tried to find the original 1.72, but it cannot be foung anywhere. Any ideas?
Flash HSPL via USB then ROM via USB
I managed to install the stock ROM, now I am going to pick a nice NAND Adnroid.
Thanks for the help, much appreciated!
