Not sure if this is specific to FRF83 but when I got to my gallery, select photos, and click share, facebook is not an option. What shows up for me is picasa, messaging, bump, bluetooth, email, gmail, k-9 mail. Maybe I have too many?? Any ideas on how to remedy this? Thanks
EDIT: Ok it looks the option (in addition to twitter and goggles) appears when I'm viewing a picture. So is there no way to upload multiple pictures at a time to Facebook?
I've also tried going thru the Facebook app but it seems to only work with one picture at a time too..

Annoyingly not, although that's not a 2.2 thing, it's always been the case.

I recently got my HTC HD2 and I tried to add all of my contacts from my old phone and sync them to facebook to get contact photos. While some of the people worked fine and I got the photos and the birthdays, for some I got no information at all.
This is annoying because it is mainly those that I would like to add to my favourites that do not recieve their profile picture or birthday or any information.
I've searched this forum for a similar problem but could only come up with problems with earlier builds. This seems to be a problem for some people running the palm pre as well.
Interestingly if I use the facebook app I also cannot get the profile pictures for these people either.
Is it a privacy settings thing, or am I doing something wrong?
This is the same on my HD2 and my HTC Hero as well.. maybe facebook need to fix something?
Anyone else having this problem?
Yes I had this problem.
Think it is more of a problem with facebook mobile to be honest.
I had this, but then found a solution (for me anyway).
Go into all people then select your contact. Then select Edit Contact. Then press where the profile picture should be. A 'Set Contact Photo' option should pop up. Next to the Facebook profile it should have a downloading icon. Once that was done i selected Facebook Profile and all was working.
Hope this helps
ahh you sniped this comment in just before i posted kanesw
yea that works for me too.
I've tried that, when i click on the download button the option just stays greyed out. (the facebook profile option) I can see it trying to find the data but it doesn't work.
I've the same problem with some contacts, you can link it to the fackbook contact but it just won't download any info about them. Works fine for most facebook contacts.

I've tried this but the facebook profile option is greyed out after i click the download button. I can see it trying to get the photo but it doesn't manage it.
You dont have to click the download icon, just leave it for a minute or so and see if it downloads it
I've found the above usually helps and if it doesnt I deleted the contact and remade it and linked it and then it worked.
I've tried everything and I still can't get some of them to work. I also can't get their albums to work or their birthdays, and they don't have a profile picture when using the facebook app either. Must be a problem there somehow.
I've noticed when I go to link a contact to a facebook profile the friend is missing. I have 400+ friends and it only shows me as having 235 friends when it goes to find the contact. I'm not sure if this is something to do with users having privacy settings on facebook and not showing up or what. However I too have several contacts with no link to facebook as they are not listed as facebook contacts thru the HTC facebook link app.
There is a privacy setting in facebook that allows users to stop other apps using their details. I guess its that as i have friends i know are on facebook but dont show up.
Definitely a privacy setting in some cases. I have a couple of friends whose profile pictures never show and I know from talking to them that they're all using the 'don't use my picture in external applications' option.
that sucks man, i have the same problem here. I guess the only way is to convince them to turn that privacy setting off, i absolutely LOVE the fact that our HD2 can grab the info from their facebook pages, it looks so cool
Settings > Privacy Settings > Applications > Settings...
They need to tick Profile picture there and tick anything else you want access to via the HD2.
Also is there any way to actually save the contact pics into outlook. It seems that the pics only stays on he phone and the outlook is not updated after syncing.
cheers
WPY
Yes, if you use the facebook pictures application in spb mobile shell instead of sense, then the facebook picture is saved to outlook as well! Dont know why this does not work in sense, it definately should!!
in HTC Albums I can only see a facebook album from one of my friends which works really good, but that's the only one.. also the intergated updates/events don't seem to work.. thumbnails and birthdays work fine..
I can't even see my own pictures.. while I'm almost sure I've tried every facebook privacy/sharing and aplication setting I could find..
any tips are much appriciated..
Hi guys, first post here but been around a bit on the forum
Basically whenever i connect my contacts to their facebook profile everything syncs up fine EXCEPT their profile pictures, i'm not sure what caused it but if the contact was added recently on facebook it just cant seem to load the picture for it .
Anyway I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on my problem or had suffered something similar.
Thanks in advance!
Make sure you are on a wi-fi network and allow time for the picture to be downloaded..If it doesn't appear, edit the contact and select the facebook picture..
Nevermind i solved the problem now it was to do with how i was connecting, i had to connect via 3G to access facebook and wifi to access twitter.
Hey but it works pretty well for me with Wi-Fi too....jus needs time to download the picture.....all you have to do as the prev post said.....iv personally tried and tested it
does not work for me...
Hello,
this has always worked for me but now all of a sudden the pictures are not loading. When I synch with facebook I see the pictures on everybody when I can select what contacts to synch. (I have all boxes checked) but after accepting no pictures are synched. Everything else is synched...
Hi guys, sorry to bring up an old post but I think it's the same issue I'm now having.
I was able to view all the FB profile pictures until recently. They're all set to FB profile picture but I get the person outline instead of their picture.
Even my own "Me" contact card won't show my profile picture, it's annoying that it did work but now it doesn't!
Any ideas? Status' are updating. I signed out then back into FB. I didn't have to connect via wifi before when it worked. When I go to Settings>Data services>Facebook, I'm logged in but the icon is grey, maybe it always but thought it used to be blue.
Um, not sure what else to mention. Thanks in advance!
Totally was having the same issue up until about 5 minutes ago, found the way to fix it! It has to do with your actual Facebook account and not the phone. You have to change your Facebook account to DISABLE the secure browsing (https). once you do that, relog into Facebook on your HTC Sense and reload the profile pictures!!
You my friend are a hero, that fixed it for me too! So now I have a bright colourful address book again, yay!
Aw thanks! I'm super happy to have all my pictures back! It was driving me crazy!

After enabling secure browsing on FB, my phone didnt sync aswell. Took me ages to find out.
So, I'm still having the same problem. How exactly do I turn off the secure browsing on my browser?
I had the picture sync problem on ICS. I use HaxSync now. Works very well!

You do not need turn off the secure browsing on your browser, you need open your FB account with your browser ( IE, Chrome, Mozila), then select the arrow at the top right (next HOME button), and choose from there Account settings. In newly opened window of FB choose Security. Now you can see on the first row your
secure browsing - edit it!
Pay attention: You need DISABLE it (uncheck) !!!!!!!!!!....if you want syncing FB contacts with HTC contacts
So the only method i found was using the My Diary app, which is interesting, but not very efficient, is there a quicker way to do this on the Galaxy S? Through the camera, you can upload to everywhere else except facebook, so maybe its a matter of updating the firmware or something...
You could email it to your facebook account from your camera app.
I'm a bit lost with this post - I have no problem sharing photos on fb straight from my SGS. Go into Gallery, select the photo you want to post on FB, then hit the share button and select FB.

yeah thats what im saying i have the Bell i9000m and there is no option to select facebook when uploading, just messaging, picasa, allshare, bluetooth, gmail and samsung email... there is no facebook option
Install Facebook for android. Then you will find also a facebook option for sharing
Install the official Facebook application from market. You can upload pics from there.

I use facebook photos for most of my contacts, but when some of them updates their contact picture, it won't update in the contacts until some time after (don't know how much time actually).
I found out that Facebook cache wouldn't also update (if I go into the app and select 'Friends', their pictures are still old).
Is there something I could do to force a photo update? I don't want to use syncmypix because it doesn't center the photo in the face like Facebook does.

In syncmypix, you can crop the images.

Last time I tried it cropped the center of the image, so a full-body picture would crop the torso of the person. Facebook autodetects the face and make a picture with it.

Just tried it. Didn't do anything. Probably it takes the Facebook app cache that shows the same old pictures.
EDIT: Now it DID work by adding another layer of syncronization with Facebook and auto-setting the picture as default. But this also suffers from a crop problem. While the facebook thumbnails is perfectly cropped around the face in a square picture, this one is not. So in the square pictures used in the default stock rom of O1 are a little wrong-cropped.
Probably because the pictures they use is the original picture, not the thumbnail. The perfect way for O1 would be to use the thumbnail.
It also adds a painfully high time of synchronization even if I tell it to sync only once a week. And whein it syncs again it takes an awfully high amount of time syncing again.
EDIT2: The best way to do this is still to clear Facebook cache and data, open facebook app, re-login and then select the Friends page. It takes a while to re-create the cache, but this seems still the best way to do that.
Just got this phone. Would like to seek advice from experienced members here.
How do I set the gallery to show only photos from phone by default? By default the setting is all, which includes picassa and Dropbox, which makes opening gallery rather slow as it loads photos from there. Every time I have to set it to view photo from phone only.
Can it be done? Using stock stock rom but rooted.

the main reason i want to do this is because it takes a minute or so to load my photos due to the fact it is searching for photos on my picassa account.
however, i found a way to disable that.
settings->google (under "accounts")->[your email, under "accounts"]->untick "sync picasa web albums"
done! i also unticked sync chrome, currents, google+, instant upload, internet... i left contacts, gmail and calander as i use them.
thanks everyone for trying to help me. i really appreciate that
